Hello there!

Welcome to next Issue of Spider-Verse I: When I Swing By.

Hope you'll enjoy and now to the review.

Godofwar01: Hi, I read every review I got on my stories. Yes, I can confirm that Aiden will have a love interest.

Now story time.

Aiden stood outside of Peter's aunt and uncle's place. He wanted to go to his bestfriend to vent and get away from his dad. He could kick himself for the stupidity, because in his anger he had forgotten that Peter would still be at the Arclight internship until the evening.

With hands in his pockets, he turned around to walk away. He was unsure where he would go now, but as he walked past the house next door, his ears picked up the sounds of shouting.

"Is she back with the beer yet?"

"What?"

"Bring me some beer! You're as stupid as your mother."

"Get away from me!"

The sound of yelling became louder and just when he turned around, he saw the door he had passed be slammed open with a loud bang and a furious Mary Jane with tears in her eyes comes walking out.

"Where are you going!? These dishes are not done. Somebody got to do the dishes!"

"I'm going out!" MJ shouted as she slammed the door close with another loud bang and walked in the opposite direction from Aiden.

He wasn't sure what compelled him to do, but he too turned around. He walked after the distraught classmate, catching up to her in no time at all.

"Hey, Mary Jane." Aiden shouted, he tapped her shoulder, "MJ."

She spun around and from her body language, how her hand had formed into a fist, he figured she was about to punch him in the face.

"Oh, it's you." she said lowering her fist, before glaring at her house before looking at him, "Were you listening to that?"

"A little hard not to. But I'm sure a few people a couple of blocks haven't heard." Aiden said placing his hands in his pockets, "Hey, how about we get out of here and get something to eat?"

"Sorry." MJ said as she continued to walk, "Don't have any money on me."

"That's not what I asked." Aiden said with a small smile, "I asked if you wanted to eat, not if you have money."

Half an hour later, Aiden and MJ where sitting across from one another in a small burger joint in Queens, the same one he would visit with Peter from time to time if he would stay over.

"This is a good burger." MJ said after taking a bite.

"Best burger in town, but Mick's has the best fries of the city." Aiden said, poking at his food, "Hey, MJ about today at school with Flash... Is he okay?"

"Just a bruised ego." MJ said indifferent, "Honestly, he could use to be taken down a few pegs. So thank you for that."

"I don't want to pry." Aiden said, taking a sip from his coke, "Does the argument between you and your dad happen often?"

"Yeah, that's why I try to be out of the house as much as possible." MJ said, looking at the table, "I can't wait to graduate next year and get out of here. I wanna..."

But she suddenly stopped talking, her face become red with embarrassment and turned to look anywhere but at the young man sitting across from her.

"What?" Aiden said, trying to look in her green eyes, "Come on. Try me."

"I... I want to..." MJ said, hesitating before finally finishing, "Fine. I want to act on-stage. There. Go on. Laugh."

"I'm not laughing." Aiden said gently, "I think its a great idea. Are you good?"

"I'm not bad." MJ said looking immensely relieved at his reaction, "I want to take classes, but they are expensive."

"I could help you find a job. It won't be anything glamorous, but you need to start somewhere." Aiden said with a smile, "When you're gonna light up Broadway, I can say I knew her from High School... Then again, nobody would believe me."

MJ couldn't help but laugh, feeling much better than she felt before. "Why are you doing this, Aiden?" she said seriously, "We aren't exactly friends."

"Couldn't just leave you alone. I had... Well, I had an argument with my dad." Aiden admitted, looking at his drink, "I know the feeling. Thought you might didn't want to be alone."

"What kind of trouble can you have?" MJ said, gesturing at him with a fry, "Your rich."

"I guess..." Aiden said, rubbing the back of his head, "My mother died today..."

"Oh." MJ said, shocked and a bit embarrassed, "I'm sorry."

"It's no problem, I hardly knew her." Aiden said with bitterness in his voice, "That's the problem, I know almost nothing about her. My father never talks about her, all I know is how she looked and that her name was Jessica."

The night had completely fallen over the city as Aiden walked MJ back home, feeling a bit better himself after talking with his problem even if it was someone who wasn't Peter. Despise coming from completely different sides of the popularity spectrum at school, Aiden found that MJ was very easy to talk to. The same could be said from her point of view about him.

"Well, here we are." Aiden said, as they arrived right outside her house.

"Yeah, we are..." MJ said, "Hey Aiden... Thank you for talking to me. Your... actually pretty cool." she added with a smile.

He watched with a smile of his own as the popular Mary Jane Watson opened the gate of her house. Taking the key from her pocket, she opened the front door, giving him a wave before closing the door behind her.

He turned away and he began to walk with still a smile on his face. This felt right, helping someone in need, even if it was in a small way. Maybe this is what his father had said, that that if you could do good things for others, that you have a moral obligation to do it.

Maybe that's why he had gotten bitten, so he could stand up to people like Flash and protect people like Peter and Cindy.

But his smile dropped when he felt a certain sensation in his head. Turning his head, his eyes widen when he felt it directed him to the Parker Residence.

Quietly but quickly, he hopped over the backyard fence and walked around the house to reach the backdoor leading to the kitchen. He had once noticed the door to be slightly ajar, making voices heard from it.

"...Sunny, we don't have much." he heard the voice of Uncle Ben, trying to sound reassuring, "You probably have more money than we have."

Peeking through the opening, Aiden saw Uncle Ben standing between Aunt May and an masked robber holding a gun.

Anger came over Aiden, he wouldn't allow it, Peter wouldn't lose his aunt and uncle today, not on the same day he lost his mother.

Reacting on instinct, Aiden threw open the door making the would be robber turn to him. The following events happened in one big blur for the young man, he flew across the kitchen, his feet landing across a face and the sound of a gun firing echoed through the neighborhood.

Peter was running late, having done overtime at the Arclight lab with Gwen, the two of them had stopped for a quick slice of pizza before he had walked with her until she was home. Which meant he had to take a longer trip back with the subway. He always had difficulty talking to girls, especially about his interests like science for example, something even Aiden doesn't share with him.

But with Gwen, who did share his interest, he could talk about it for hours and she could keep up with him.

Having caught a train later than usual, he walked to his house when he spotted two ambulances, and a few police cars and the entire neighborhood standing in a crowd outside his house, MJ and her family among them.

Fear spiked through him as he began to run towards his house, pushing through the crowd to find an unfamiliar man being rolled out of the house and into the ambulance. Ignoring the officers as he ran into the house to find Uncle Ben giving a statement of an officer. Upon seeing his nephew, he immediately embraced him.

"Uncle Ben?" Peter said afraid, "What happened?"

He joined his uncle as he guided Peter to the kitchen, which looked like a mosh pit had been held in it.

In it he saw Aunt May kneeling next to a sitting Aiden, who was being treated for a bullet wound to the shoulder by one of the medic's.

"Peter." Aunt May said standing up and embracing her nephew.

"W-What happened?" Peter said confused, "Why is..."

"Peter." Aiden interrupted with a shaky voice, ignoring the medic as he walked to Peter, throwing his one good arm around him, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry..."

"Aiden..." Peter said confused at why is friend was sounding like he was begging for forgiveness, "What..."

But before he could explain, Aiden was pulled off Peter by the medic and forced back into his seat. Ben was about to explain when Thomas came rushing in. Having been called by the police what had happened, he felt relieve wash over his extremely pale face as he saw his son to be safe.

But Aiden had gone completely quiet, retreating into himself as he stared at the floor.

"...Thank God, your safe, all of you." Thomas said turning from his son to Peter and his family, "Ben, May, what happened?"

"A burglar with a gun came in." Ben explained, "He wanted money, but before anything could happen to May or me, Aiden came in and managed to take him down. But the gun went off and Aiden got shot."

With his arm in a sling, Aiden was resting on the sofa in the living room of his home. From when Thomas had offered Ben and May to pay for the damages done to their house to the moment he was given the okay to go home, Aiden had been apologizing to a confused Peter, who still had no idea why he was doing so as he prevented his aunt and uncle possibly being killed.

But Aiden knew and he would explain it to his friend later, when the adults and police weren't around.

Having almost kicked the guys head off in the blind fury, literally in this case, Aiden had forcibly removed his mask of the burglar, wanting to see the face of the man who had dared to steal from two of the kindest people he knew. And the shock that came over him when he saw the face made him ignore the bullet that had gone through his shoulder and would be imprinted to his mind for ever.

It had been the same man who had robbed the wrestling promoter a few weeks ago, the same one he had willingly let go. Had Aiden not been there to stop him the second time, Uncle Ben or Aunt May could have been shot and killed. If he had put a petty grudge aside, if he had stopped the man the first time, other people wouldn't be in danger.

"Aiden." Thomas said snapping him out of his thoughts as he sat down, "I'm sorry."

"W-What?" Aiden said confused.

"For not talking about your mother." Thomas said, with his hands folded, "For not being there for you."

"I-I understand." Aiden said with a nod, "Your a busy man."

"That's no excuse." Thomas said, rubbing a hand through his hair, "You could have died today, the same day I lost your mother. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you as well. Your all that I have left, the only thing that matters."

"I'm sorry. I tried to talk to you, but you were so busy." Aiden said, "In fact, I always feel like you don't want to talk at all about mom..."

"Even after all these years, it's still too painful to talk about her... Your mother was on her way to a meeting in Washington, sharing a privet plane with Howard and Maria Stark. On the way the plane crashed killing them all." Thomas said on the verge of tears, "It's unthinkable for someone so young, but that day I lost the love of my life... I mean, I lost it, Aiden. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't concentrate on anything. And then weird stuff, like, food had no taste. It was awful. And it is something that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I hope you never have to go through that."

Over the next three days, realized what he needed to do. On the second day, his arm had healed. So he could add a regenerative ability to his list of super powers as well.

It was during the following three days, time when he had to think that he realized what he needed to do with his powers, why that spider had bitten him. It wasn't to get back at the bullies back at school, it wasn't to make money or become popular. It was to protect people like Peter and Cindy, but he could do so much more. HE could do so much more. HE could be greater.

If you have great power, there also must come great responsibility.

With these words of his mother in the back of his head, he finally knew what he needed to do.
