Existence

You spoke to me

Of the lost times, your fading memories

Whispered to me

The meaning of existence

Why are we different, you and I?

Yet so similar in more ways then one

You know things that many cannot fathom

And I knew only the simple pleasures of life

Me being only a child

Free to go my way

To dance among the rain

And to dream about the moon

I gazed into your eyes that day

And found eternity

Knowledge that I grew to comprehend

And I found love for me, for my family, for life

Sometimes you didn't have an answer

Yet I knew you could tell me

Sometimes you did have an answer

And told me a tale

I dreamed of riding to the gods

On a feather-winged horse

To find the answer to the question

"Why do the stars and moon exist?"

I grew to be a woman

Rebellious and stubborn in my ways

All I wanted was freedom

Yet there was always the kingdom to consider

I've forgotten your tales

I wonder again, why you told them

Were they for fun or for a lesson to be learnt?

Because I still am a child at heart

You now speak to me

Of the lost times, your fading memories

Whispered to me

The meaning of my existence

Why are we so different, you and I?

Yet so similar in more ways then one

You and I know things that many cannot fathom

And I no longer only enjoy the simple pleasures of life, but all of them

I am free to go my way

To dance among the rain again

And to still dream about the moon

To enjoy the times before

Gazing into your eyes today

I still find eternity

Knowledge that I can comprehend

And a love for me, for my family, and for the life you lived

Sitting by the hearth

Looking out the window

I turn to you and ask again

"Why do the moon and stars exist?"
