Red had stayed with Darkwing and Adeline for about 6 months now. They had all got acquainted with each other and had found out interesting facts about each other, like how Darkwing struggled with childhood obesity, why Adeline was terrified of playing sports, and how Red had started to love punching and wrestling and fighting.
During that six-month period, Red had celebrated her first Christmas. On the first day of December, Darkwing asked Red, "What'd you want for Christmas?"
"Huh?"
"Christmas! What presents do you want to get for Christmas?"
"What's Christmas?"
Darkwing gasped. "You've never heard of Christmas?" he asked.
"Nope. What is it?"
Darkwing started explaining the concept of Christmas to Red.
"You see, every December, we start to celebrate this holiday. It's called Christmas. When we celebrate this holiday, we get in a happy, jolly spirit. Everyone does! We celebrate this holiday the whole month, really. But the fun really starts on the 24th. On that day, we all give presents to each other. Then, that night, we all have to go to sleep, because Santa Claus travels all around the world, delivering presents to everyone, rich or poor. Then, that morning when we wake up, we all gather 'round and open our presents to see what Santa brought us."
Red was still confused. "But why do you celebrate Christmas? Why is it called Christmas?"
Darkwing became serious as he explained the true meaning of Christmas.
"Well, the real reason we celebrate Christmas is because a long time ago, Jesus Christ was born. In The Bible verse John 3:16, it says that God loved the world so much, He gave His only begotten son - Jesus - so whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life. That's what Christmas is all about, Red. Oh, and it's called Christmas because the birth of Jesus is also referred to as the birth of Christ."
Red listened attentively.
"So that's what Christmas is all about?" Red asked, wagging her tail. Darkwing nodded.
"So, now that you know what Christmas is about, what do you want for Christmas?"
Days had passed since Darkwing and Red's discussion about Christmas. Drake-El and Donald had given Darkwing and Adeline the early Christmas present of having a living room that was connected to the two houses. Almost every evening, the Ducks and the McQuack would gather in their shared living room, the adults chatting about the day, and Darkwing, Adeline, and Red playing happily with each other. It was a very big room, and more than two large families could be in there...
...Which was great, because almost all of Darkwing's close family was going to be crammed in there on Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Eve, a lot of Adeline's close family showed up, too.
Ruby, Darkwing's mother, had a brother, Joseph Quackson. He and his wife, Kathy Quackson, had managed to have 10 children - Well, 9, since one of them died shortly after being born.
Darkwing didn't like most of his cousins, but he did enjoy the company of his older cousin, Michael Quackson.
Michael was a skinny teenager, but he was also very famous. He had put out several albums. He was phenomenal at singing and dancing. He was much nicer than his brothers and sisters. He and Darkwing were very close. Michael was the one who taught him to walk, and how to ride a tricycle and bicycle, and taught him how to embrace the fact that half his feathers were purple. Tonight, Michael ran to Darkwing and picked him up and they gave each other a tight hug.
"I've missed you so much, Darkwing! I haven't seen you since Thanksgiving!" Michael exclaimed.
Darkwing wished he could tell Michael how much he had missed him, but he couldn't at the moment. You see, Michael's skinny figure was misleading. He was, in fact, very strong. When he gave Darkwing a hug, Darkwing could feel his circulation cutting off.
Michael put Darkwing down, and Darkwing managed to gasp, "Missed you too, Michael."
Michael greeted Adeline, and then looked down at Red. "Who's this?"
"Oh, I'm Red. Darkwing told me all about you. Hello," Red greeted. Michael shook her hand, and her entire body along with it.
The Ducks, McQuacks, and Red had a wonderful Christmas Eve. Darkwing had got a BB-Gun, Adeline had got a pair of purple and pink anklets, and Red had got a Waddleduck radio.
The next day, Christmas Day, they had all got what they really wanted: Darkwing had got a Batduck Playset with Action Figures, Adeline had got a BB-Gun (she and Darkwing both really wanted one), and Red had gotten her most desired present, which was an inflatable punching bag. While the adults cleaned up the wrapping paper, the children played with their toys.
A couple months had passed since Christmas. Darkwing had made good use out of his BB-Gun and had played happily with his Batduck Playset, Adeline wore her anklets all the time and had made good use out of her BB-gun, and Red loved to listen to music on her Waddleduck and had made good use out of her punching bag.
One day, every family member who had seen Red was in the house. They were laughing and chatting, the teenagers (except Michael) were finding mischief, and Darkwing, Adeline, Red, and Michael were playing with each other.
All of a sudden, the adults and teenagers froze in their tracks. Darkwing, Adeline, and Red stared at Michael, who stood frozen in front of them.
"Michael? Michael! Speak to me!" Darkwing exclaimed. Michael continued to be frozen.
"Come here, you young Silly Creatures! And come with them, Scarlet Fraggle!" screamed an old voice. It came from an elderly Fraggle. He had gray skin, bushy white eyebrows, a long white beard, and a long gray tail with a white tuft of hair on the end of it. He wore a blue and green bonnet and a robe of the same colors. In his hand he held a golden staff.
He ushered them into a hole. They didn't dare make a sound, because they knew this guy meant business. A few moments later, Darkwing and Adeline found themselves strapped to a chair. They watched as two more Fraggles held Red tight, her back to Darkwing and Adeline.
"You can never tell anyone about those Silly Creatures or Outer Space, alright, Red?"
"Yes, sir."
Red was ushered out into a tunnel. Darkwing saw that Red's hands were tied behind her back, but he then noticed that she flipped her hand up for a silent and sudden goodbye. He saw that, clutched in her other hand, was her Waddleduck Radio.
A Fraggle ran to the elderly Fraggle.
"Red's going back to the Rock and won't tell any Fraggle her secrets, World's Oldest Fraggle."
"Very good. Run along, now. I must be alone with our feathered friends."
The Fraggle ran off into the tunnel. The World's Oldest Fraggle looked at Darkwing and Adeline.
"Bye-Bye, duckies," he sneered, and fired a ray gun at both of them. They were stunned. The World's Oldest Fraggle swung his staff at them, and they were knocked out. Several Fraggles rushed into the cave and placed Darkwing and Adeline on a stretcher. They were carried back to their house and were thrown onto the rug of their living room carpet. The World's Oldest Fraggle pointed and fired the ray gun at everyone in the room. He got back into the hole, snapped his fingers, and scurried out of sight.
Nobody remembered anything about Red.
