Tossing her red hair over her shoulder, she sat down. This was her favorite place by far to study, despite the fact that this late at night he was usually lurking in this room. True, sharing a room with someone who completely boggled her mind was tiresome, but the view was simply magnificent.

She had settled herself on the window seat. From here, with one simple glance out the window, she could see almost all of the Hogwarts grounds including the lake, which now shimmered as if it were a thousand miniature diamonds under the moonlight.

It was a full moon this evening, and she worked by it's light. As she scribbled furiously on the parchment she held in her lap, she vaguely thought she heard the door open and close.

Though, as she turned around, she saw nothing. She shook her head and turned back to her studies.

Seconds later, a thud sounded over by the stairwell to the Head Boy's dorm room.

"H-Hello?" Her voice didn't come out nearly as brave as she had hoped.

As she headed toward the stairs, she tripped up and fell face first into the tan carpeting. As she fumbled around, she finally felt the familiar, liquid-like fabric flow over her fingers and swiftly pulled it upward.

There he lay.

"What on Earth happened to you?" She whispered as she ran a slender finger down a gash along his jaw.

He stared up at her, his eyes conveying the message he hadn't the strength to speak: he couldn't say.

She dabbed at the gash with a tissue she had grabbed off a nearby table and stared back down at him.

"You're going to get yourself killed one of these days, James Potter." He gulped slightly at her tone but relaxed as he noticed the twinkle that danced merrily in her eyes and simply nodded.

She placed a gentle kiss on his hairline and ran her fingers through his ebony locks. As his eyes began to shut and he drifted into the sleep he so greatly needed, Lily whispered, "You're hopeless, but I like it."

He slept well that night, a gentle smile plastered on his face.
