Hell's Kitchen
Camila was on the brink of tears as a group of EMTs rushed her daughter Luz into the emergency room as her second husband Jack Murdock and his son Matt the three then waited outside for three hours until a doctor walked in.
"How is she?" Camila asked. "She's stable, a few chemical burns but nothing serious except... it's best if you see for yourself."
Camila was led to a room where Luz was laying in bed as she asked "Who's there?" "It's your mother Mija." "Mom where are you?"
Camila then walked closer and saw that her daughter's once brown eyes were now pale white as she held her child's hand. "Can you feel my hand?" "Yes, but I can't see..." It didn't take Luz a minute to realize that she was now blind as Camila hugged her tight as they cried.
Years Later
Luz had gotten used to her white cane as her parents ever got her a service dog she named King who would constantly pester her for snacks and cuddles. "Hey, you're supposed to be helping me not begging." She told King who licked her hand. "Aw, You know I can't stay mad at you for that long." She told the dog as she sat down and started reading a book in braille as King was about to eat something off the floor as Luz blocked him with her cane. "Hey, mom can't let you in the house if you get wet feet." She said as the stick then tapped a mud puddle in front of the dog.
Luz was blind but she was able to somehow sense where things were at that moment as she then heard the hoot of an owl and its wings flapping followed by the sound of flapping paper. "HEY!" Luz then ran after it as the Owl had ended up taking her book and flew into an old shack before Luz then went in followed by a flashing light and then silence.
A few weeks later
"You sure this is safe?" Luz asked her witch mentor Eda as she had unknowingly made an oath with a young witch following an argument and now she was going to fight the said witch. "Kid you took down a cold stone warden, puppeteer demon, and an owl beast with nothing but your cane... thing and your wits this is going to be a piece of cake."
"And yet I can't even do magic," Luz said as Eda crouched down. "Hey, you'll learn and see... oh crap sorry forgot you were..." "Blind? It doesn't bother me I've gotten used to it."
Soon the doors open. "Good luck and try not to die!" "I won't!" "Ahh, she's a good kid."
And now Luz was standing in front of an arena with the witch Amity Blight on the other side. "You're going down human!" "We'll see," Luz replied as she took off her shades showing her pale white eyes. "Uh, this is a joke, right? because I'm not fighting someone with a disability."
"Is something wrong Amity?" The witch's mentor Lilith asked. "Yeah, teach I'm not fighting she's bl..." "One of my sister's tricks no dought about it, don't worry just I've it everything you got."
Amity then breathed before making a spell circle on the floor summoning an abomination from it. "Abomination attack!" Amity shouted as it then did as Luz simply stood still.
"Kid what are you doing?!" Eda yelled as Luz stood still as she heard the sounds around her blocking the shouts and focusing on the monster's moans. "Five, four..."
"Miss Lilith she's not moving," Amity said in worry as the abomination then raised its fist before slamming it down causing dust to cover the arena. "KID!" Eda shouted as Amity and Lilith coughed as the dust cleared o show a large crater but nothing in it. "What..." "HEY!" The entire audience then saw Luz behind the abomination as she pulled her cane which came apart in two. "Feet balanced, posture perfect, and strike." Luz then quickly swiped the two sticks on the creature's legs as they dissolved before Luz then dodged the attacks from its fist before leaping into the air and slamming both sticks into its head as it exploded into purple muck as she gracefully landed before taking a bow.
Amity, Eda, and Lilith were in complete shock after seeing what had happened. "So sis ready to forfeit?" "I never quit, Amity I want you to use all your energy on her."
"But..." "Unless you want me to tell your family about the failure you had today." Amity was now full of rage. "I am not... losing to some dumb human!" She then made a large spell circle the size of the Arena as a large abomination hand came out of it. "Try beating this!" Amity screamed as she swung her arm as the hand did the same.
Luz barely got out of the way as Eda starred at Lilith. "Uh, Lily maybe your student is taking this a bit too far." "Relax I'm sure a few days in the healing station will help her."
Amity then swung her fist again as Luz dogged and stuck it while Amity winced a bit. "So your body is controlling it? that sounds cool if it wasn't trying to kill me." SHUT UP!"
Soon the fist then grabbed Luz and began squeezing as Luz felt the life leaving her as she managed to free one of her hands with the baton. "Amity stop..." The green-haired witch simply ignored her as she made the fist even tighter as Luz then used her echolocation to locate Amity. "Sorry about this." Luz then aimed and tossed the baton as it slammed into Amity's arm breaking it causing the witch to let go and hold her arm in pain as Luz was on the ground and ran to her.
"Hey, you alright?" "NO!" Lilith then called for a few members of the healing coven as they hauled Amity away.
"Hold it," Eda said as she took a good look at Amity before pulling a sort of sticker from her neck. "A patch from the construction coven?!, well sis welcome to my level." Lilith was now full of shock and embarrassment. "I only did that because I know you cheat at stuff like this!" "Yeah well I didn't Luz has skills, not witch skills but good ones."
Soon Eda began mocking and taunting Lilith to the point where she had enough and quickly pointed her staff at her only to get hit in the head with a baton knocking her out. "Oh, Eda I'm so so.." "She was going to attack me either way now let's go before she wakes up and finds out I tied both of her shoelaces together.
Both the mentor and the apprentice then left the Convention. "Need me to carry you?" "Nah I got it."
After a while, Lilith was in her quarters with a healing patch and bandage on her bruised head before answering a call from her superior.
"My league, I have news to being about..." "You lost her again didn't you?" "Yes but it's not about my sister this time but rather her apprentice, a young blind human." "Human? Blind?" "Yes she's completely blind, even managed to beat my trianee single handily with no magic." "Interesting the emperor shall be notified about this."
