Chilly Talk with a Heat Sparring Match
"Achoo!" Weiss sneezed.
"Bless you, Weiss." Ruby said.
"Thank you, just now it felt like someone was talking about me." Weiss said, not sure if that's true or maybe it was just her imagination.
"Do you think it's Jaune and Sun?" Ruby asked, looking worry.
"I don't know, it just like it was someone but not specifically." Weiss stated.
Ruby looks back down at her comic book that she was reding for a while and her face start looking sad as she started to feel sad on the inside too, she couldn't get over the fact that Jaune and Sun are no longer in school.
"You miss them, don't you?" Weiss asked as she can already tell what she is thinking about.
"How could I not? Jaune and Sun hasn't been in school for months now and they never told us where they are how they're even doing." Ruby exclaimed.
"There was that text message he sent us, but it was only short and only says "Me and Jaune are finally going on a big adventure!" in those exact words." Weiss recalled that text message.
"I wish I knew where they are." Ruby sighed.
"You shouldn't worry about them so much. Those two always had each other backs for years since they were little kids, and whatever trouble they're in, they can get themselves out too." Weiss assured that Sun and Jaune are fine, but that didn't mean she wasn't worried for them.
"So, just be patient and you may see your previous monkey man again." Weiss teased.
"Weiss, I told you not to say it like that about me and Sun!" Ruby gasped and waved her arms exclaiming.
"It's not my fault you have that big crush on him." Weiss shrugged.
"Oh yeah, then how about I go tell everyone in school of your crush on Jaune." Ruby countered with a smirk.
"I told you many times I do NOT have a crush on that dolt!" Weiss snapped with her face turning red.
But deep down, they're hoping the boys are okay wherever they are and also wonder why did Ozpin suddenly retired from being the school's principal. Unaware of the man's death and what happened to Jaune and Sun of they're currently doing right now.
(At Winter's Home)
Jaune and Sun just sat down on a chair for each other them with Winter and Penny sitting next to them on the small table, and on that table is a setting of sweets in the center and two maids just enter the room with one pushing a cart of the cups and one teapot while the other is pushing another cart with some food.
"Nice maids, do they come out whenever you have visitors?" Sun asked, winking at the maid in red making her giggle.
"These two have been my fateful maids since my mother took them in a decade ago and have helped around the mansion gratefully." Winter said.
"The maid in white is Melanie Malachite, and the one in red is her twin sister, Miltia. They are also warriors to defend themselves and the house." Winter introduced the twins.
"It's an honor to meet you both." Melanie and Miltia greeted at the same time.
Melanie has long black hair with a straight fringe that covers her eyebrows and pale green eyes, highlighted by heavy cyan makeup. She wears an off white, strapless dress that graduates to a cyan towards the skirt, it has a cyan layered feathery tulle that hangs longer than the dress and a small bow in the top centre part of the dress. Melanie wears a pair of white thigh-high boots with red lace-up detailing. Blades are fitted to the rear of her boots, seemingly connected to the heels. Twin silver chains run from the back of the boots connecting to a layer armored piece on the fronts of the boots. She wears cyan stockings under her boots with lace-trimmed tops that peek above the boots and garter straps that supposedly connect to her underwear. She sports a pair of white forearm length gloves with cyan lace detailing running from wrist to forearm accompanied by a silver vambrace on her left forearm. She has a white belt around her waist that has twin silver chains on the front alongside a cyan gemstone in the centre whilst a pair of cyan feather-like wings extended from the back. Her accessories include a white flower-shaped hairpin above her left ear, a white feather scarf with two short red feathers surrounding a long cyan feather on the left side. She also sports a silver pauldron on her left shoulder. Breasts sizes: F-cup.
Miltia is the same with the hair color and eyes. Her hair is short black bob style hair with a straight fringe and her pale green eyes are highlighted by heavy red makeup. She wears a red strapless dress that is patterned with newspaper articles with the headings "A New York la pop art di Alborghetti", "Amity Arena", and "New York Fine Art".Her dress has black and dark red lace layered tulle that hangs down more than the dress. She has an off-centred bow belt around her waist and wears a pair of red thigh-high boots with black heels and soles alongside white lace-up detail. Twin silver chains run round from the back of the boots connecting to layer armor plating on the front of her boots. She wears lacy black stockings that peek out over the top of her boots accompanied by black garter straps that supposedly connect to her underwear. Miltia sports a pair of black fingerless forearm length gloves with red lining around the tips of the fingers. Her gloves sport a newspaper design similar to her dress running from the backs of her hands to her forearms with a light brown frill trim peeking out of the ends. Blades Weapon sits over her gloves. Her accessories include a large, long wing-like red feather and two short white feathers above her left ear and a short black fur shrug held by four beaded chains with a white gemstone in the centre. Breasts size: F-cup.
"Wow, twin maids seem to be cool, but I think I would prefer each maid to be unique in their special way." Jaune stated.
"Oh, does that mean you already have favorite maid to her serve you?" Melanie asked, leaning closer to Jaune with breasts just below his face.
Jaune stutter to make a word to respond to that question and his face is blushing with having her breasts being very close that he could kiss them, this is making him feel a little arouse to but kept that under control except for the blushing.
"Well, huh, I wouldn't say I picked out a favorite." Jaune gulped.
"Melanie, please don't tease the boy like that. He's one of the duo Guardians and he must focus on the task at hand." Winter scolded the maid in white.
"Aw, come on, Winter! I was just playing around a bit." Melanie complained a bit.
The white maid gave Jaune a wink causing him to blush again and feeling his heart is beating a little faster than normal, same things as what happens with Raven around.
"So, do you want to talk about something like how we're awesome?" Sun asked with a smirk.
"You should be careful with that cocky attitude of yours, Sun Wukong. It can lead to your downfall and may never get back up." Winter warned.
"You're not the first one to ever told me that." Sun chuckled.
"And I'm one of those few people, yet he never listens to the same warning every time." Jaune exclaimed while the twins are serving the tea.
"So, are there any questions you boys would like to know?" Penny asked with a slight giggle.
"Oh yeah, we've been wondering about what you said yesterday being a Maiden Candidate, we tried asking the others, but they said we would find out once we meet Winter." Jaune remembered.
"Yeah, what is up with that?" Sun asked.
"Well, if you must know." Winter said before drinking her tea and the twins just finished putting the food on the table.
"You see, Maidens' powers are passed from one person to another though only through the females as I'm sure you all were told by this." Winter began to explain.
"I think I remember hearing about that, but definitely know that Jaune has been keeping notes just in case I either wasn't listening or forgot." Sun said.
"It's true." Jaune nodded.
"Well, the way the power is passed onto the next wielder is when the previous user is no longer with us in this world, meaning the power leaves when the user dies and whoever was in the last thoughts of the previous maiden will inherit that power." Winter explained.
"Seriously? The power doesn't die with you?" Sun asked shock a little.
"No, it is a unique power that was given to four girls long ago by a magical old man who lived all alone in his home, those girls were the first maidens." Winter answered.
"Oh, I think I get it." Jaune started to realize what Winter is saying.
"Oh, do you now?" Winter asked raising an eyebrow and a small smile.
"Yeah, the reason Penny is here and being called a Candidate of the Winter Maiden means the Maiden are preparing themselves for the worst in case one of them dies and the Candidates are the closest they can trust with the power." Jaune explained what he seems to understand.
"Wow, cute and smart. You don't find that in many men." Melanie complimented making Jaune blush again.
"For real? But that sounds like they're expecting you to die so the city wouldn't be without a Maiden! How stupid is that?" Sun disapproved of such a method.
"Wow, that was honest and scary. Kind of hot." Miltia smirked.
"Well, maybe I can come by, and you can get to know me more." Sun smirked back with his tail stroking on her cheek making her giggle.
"Miltia." Winter released her icy stare that send shivers down Miltia's spine and quickly move away from Sun much to his displease.
"Sorry about him." Jaune apologized on Sun's behalf.
"It's fine, my maid is also to blame for this." Winter stated, and slightly feeling jealous for some reason.
"I know what you mean, sounding like our own lives don't matter, but I can assure you that we are living our own lives to however we can while also being ready for any battles we may die in some day." Winter assured with a calm smile.
"Plus, having a Candidate with them can help lighten their life up from having to carry such a heavy responsibility alone and to have a trustful soul by their side like a family." Penny added with a cute smile.
"Yes, so you like to see it like that." Winter chuckled.
"So, are you the only candidate for the Winter Maiden or are there others?" Jaune asked curious.
"It's just me since Winter couldn't find any other potential girls to wanting to be the Winter Soldier." Penny answered.
"But that doesn't mean Winter won't at least to try to find another." Miltia said.
"So, that means you can have any number of candidates under your wing? Must be pretty cool with getting the royal treatment." Sun commented.
"Oh, living with Winter is great even though her training can be hard and strict at times, but I've gotten use to them." Penny said.
"Well, I sure would like to see how hard this training of yours is like." Jaune chuckled.
"Glad you feel that way because that is another reason why I called you boys here." Winter smiled before setting down her teacup.
"What?" Jaune and Sun asked at the same time.
"I heard from Raven and Chel about how your training has been going along with the feats you two have accomplished and believe me when I say that I won't be holding back." Winter grinned a bit.
"Huh, can't we say that it was nice meeting you can call it a day?" Jaune asked, hoping this woman wouldn't want to fight them.
(Five Minutes Later)
"That's a definite no." Sun sighed.
Now both Guardians of Golden Beacon are standing in the courtyard where they first saw Winter after entering the mansion, strangely with their weapons in their hands as they were always told to always bring their weapons wherever they go to be ready for anything such as this.
"So, that white maid sure was checking you out." Sun grinned.
"Yeah, so she was, and the red one didn't waste anytime getting close to you." Jaune mentioned.
"True, maybe we'll both get maids." Sun shrugged.
"Sun Wukong! Jaune Arc!" Winter shouted getting them to stand up straight.
"This will be a sparring match, but you will treat this like this were a real one and come at me with everything you got to see how well you have survived within this city." Winter said.
"Oh, we'll show you how awesome we are and you'll be begging one of us is your man!" Sun shouted of excitement.
Hearing the last part from the blonde monkey boy has causes Winter's cheek to turn red and her heart just skipped a beat or two, this is very odd to the Winter Maiden as she never felt this way before to any men she met in her life and some of them were idiots for wanting her body and other pervert reasons.
"Is everything okay, Winter? You look a little red." Penny asked concern.
"I'm fine, there's nothing odd going in my mind." Winter proclaimed and shook the strange thoughts out of her mind.
"Now, both of you come at me!" Winter pointed her sword at the boys.
"Good luck, Monkey Cutie!" Miltie cheered for Sun.
"Try not to get freeze too painfully." Melanie cheered for Jaune, in a way.
"Guess we got no choice." Jaune sighed.
"Alright, let's go!" Sun charged in first to attack Winter while twirling his red staff.
Winter this charge coming from a mile away as she parries his strikes and comes in to attack though he was able to react quick enough to block a few, but Winter saw an opening and made her move to attack only for her sword to be knocked away by Jaune who launched himself up with his shield and swung his sword strong and as fast as he could.
Jaune goes toward the Winter Maiden swinging his sword at her sword who blocks them easily though having a little difficult time getting through the defense as Jaune is able to react faster to hold up his shield on time.
But just when Winter blocks another sword strike, Jaune smack the arm with the sword to the side for Sun to thrust his staff passing Jaune and going for the head only for Winter to barely dodge it at the last half second.
"Sun, up!" Jaune tapped his shield with his sword.
Sun nods and quickly jump off the shield into the air with some gravity push boost, he looks down at Winter and made two of his light clones and making them both dive towards Winter who jumps back to dodge them, but Jaune quickly goes after her and fight with the clones working together with him.
"(Their teammate work is excellent, guess that's the advantage gain from being together since childhood.)" Winter thought commented.
But just when she took care of the two light clones, Sun suddenly appeared behind her and swipe strike his staff to knock her off her feet and Jaune send her flying with his shield to a statue, but she lands on her feet and glares at the boys with her eyes glowing white and blue.
She leaps down and with a mighty scream, swing her sword and send an ice wave freezing both Sun and Jaune in place.
"Well done, Guardians, you have shown skills that you're still lacking yet push forward together covering each other to even make me use my Maiden power." Winter impressed.
"You boys were amazing!" Penny said cheerfully.
"Th-Thanks." Sun and Jaune said, shivering from the cold of the ice.
"Penny, get them out, you two go get hot towels for them." Winter ordered as she walks away.
"Okay, hope I don't hurt you." Penny formed a green energy sphere in her hands which frightens the boys.
An explosion sound was made, and the boys were sent flying several feet from Penny as they scream.

Well, Jaune and Sun have gotten to know their new friends more through the teatime with Winter testing their skills and strength in battle which is to be expected they lost to a Maiden though they did impress her. As for Weiss and Ruby in the beginning of the chapter, let just we'll be seeing more of them soon.
