Vows

"Bakura's thoughts" (and actions and 'speech' in his POV – this thoughts are heard by Oc (Katryna – known to Bakura as Kitten).)

Ordinary action in 3rd person/none POV

Chapter 1 –

'Bound at every limb by my shackles of fear
Sealed with lies through so many tears
Lost from within, pursuing the end
I fight for the chance to be lied to again'

"Hmm, interesting thought, huh Kitten?"

I watch her lying on the bed, listening and watching me, suppressing a giggle I know will come once I'm done.

I've never sung to her before, though she's undoubtedly heard me.

'You will never be strong enough'

"Except you can already throw me across the room…that hurt."

She giggled harder.

'Sorry Kura.'

'You will never be good enough'

"You're better than good." She smiles up at me, knowing I can see she's wearing very little.

She trusts me and doesn't care.

I haven't been trusted in quite a while, really.

'You were never conceived in love
You will not rise above'

"You will never rise above the Pharaoh…because anyone can be better than him! You're already better than him!" She grins and nods.

'I know.'

Her eyes are sparkling with that spark that makes her so…alive.

'They'll never see
I'll never be
I'll struggle on and on to feed this hunger
Burning deep inside of me'

'More of a thirst, if you ask me, Kura.' I scowl down at her as she giggled at her own joke.

'But through my tears breaks a blinding light
Birthing a dawn to this endless night'

"I am the dark, and you are my dawn." She smiles contentedly up at me.

'All in balance, eh?'

'Arms outstretched, awaiting me
An open embrace upon a bleeding tree'

She cocks a brow at me. I shrug non-committally. She rolls her eyes and shakes her head playfully.

'Rest in me and I'll comfort you
I have lived and I died for you
Abide in me and I vow to you
I will never forsake you'

"It's true."

'…Bakura, you're so sweet!' I smile sadly down at her.

'They'll never see
I'll never be
I'll struggle on and on to feed this hunger
Burning deep inside of me'

"I will never let him hurt you. I'll call up an army of spirits first, and they'll have to go through that before they get anywhere near to you, Kitten!" I tell her confidently. She smiles at me, silently giving me her thanks.

I know the way her mind works…well, most of the time.

'They'll never see

I'll struggle on and on to feed this hunger

'Here's my vow to you, my Kitten.' I tell her softly.

'Rest in me and I'll comfort you
I have lived and I died for you
Abide in me and I vow to you
I will never forsake you'

'…An army?'

'An army.'

'Thanks Kura. You're a true friend.'

'Hmm, a first for me, then.'

'True…But I'd have to say it's a thirst for you, instead!'

The two laughed, though at first glance, people would only say there was one young girl in there…that is, until they saw the spirit floating next to her…

…Guarding over her, as some would say.
