As i open my eyes i was greeted by the sunlight that creeps through the cracks on my window, the sound of a rooster crowing in the morning marking the start of a new day.
I was still trying to focus all of my senses after waking up until i remember, today is the day that i will get my grimoire.
"*groan* i should have know drinking that weird grape juice at the church was a bad idea"
While blocking the sunlight that are streaming to my eyes with my hand, i push my body into an sitting position to refocus my senses and trying to remember if there is any important event today, while thinking i got a wild feeling as if i've forgotten something important, i panicked because i realised that there is something important today but i can't remember it.
And after some time trying to remember what it is i still couldn't know what.
I turned to the window in my room and decided to get up and have some fresh air to calm down, and so i opened my window the usual view or the rising sun.
Until sometime got into my nose.
"*achoo!* what was that? I don't have cold do i?"
As I look outside from the window, i see my neighbor John's garden, he always take care of his garden routinely, and now it's filled with blooming flowers of all kind.
"Wait blooming flowers? That means...oh my god"
This is it, this is the day. I have been waiting for this since the day one-san went to the capital and become a magic knight.
I quickly went to change my clothes and wash my hand and face before having breakfast with some rye bread and a bowl of pottage.
*knock* *knock* *knock*
Suddenly a knock come from my door, he quickly finishes his breakfast and drink some water to wash his throat before going to the door to check who it is.
He then slowly opens the door only to see that it was only father Saturio with a jug in his hands.
"Good day Kail" The pastor greeted
Kail fully opened the door and let the pastor in while greeting him back
"Father Saturio Cento! What is thy purpose hither this early 'i the morrow?" Kail is surprised by the pastor's sudden appearance at his house this early in the morning.
The pastor just smile and holds up the jug in his hands "I bought thou some milk!"
After saying thank you, Kail then told the pastor to put the jug on the table and take a sit while he take two cups for the milk.
While he wait he pastor notices that Kail has had his breakfast way earlier than usual, in fact he was kinda expecting to be greeted by a boy that just woke up and are still half asleep.
Well maybe he should've expected it, after all this is the first day of March.

- Inside The Grimoire Tower in Heicaro -
Inside the tower that is filled with bookshelves almost as tall as the tower itself and are full of countless amount of grimoires, in the middle of the tower an old man in a gray robe stand with a staff in his hands.
"Welcome young ones, to the Grimoire Awarding Ceremony!
Today for your future, you will be granted faith, hope and love!
As i Lucius Lentulus has been granted the title of the head of this grimoire tower, i shall granted you...your..FUTURE!" *BANG*
"Grimoire Conferment!"
When Lucius cast the spell, grimoires of every kind started flying from the tower's bookshelfs to it's owners, the room filled with cheers as one by one everybody started getting their own grimoire, grimoires of all kinds can be seen.
- to Kail's pov -
As i was waiting for my grimoire to show up suddenly i felt a presence right above me, and when i look up i see a grimoire brown in colour and it has a gray aura surrounding it.
As i was still mesmerized by the grimoire it suddenly started flying right towards me at incredible speed, panicked i quickly put my hands towards it in hopes that my hands are fast enough to catch it.
And when the collision came it came hard, as my hands catches the grimoire it knocks me to the ground and makes me skid across the floor.
Lucky for me someone catches me and when i look up who is was, it was releaved to me that it was Sister Pamela Blackburne, she was always helping around the church with me and she's the one who continue to teach me how to read and write after my sister went to the capital and couldn't teach me anymore.
"Oh great heaven! Kail what happened?!"
"I'm sorry Sister Pamela! I didn't expect it to come at me so suddenly like that, and i didn't thought it would be this...big, oh my god, it's the size of my torso!"
"~sigh~ you worried me there for a second i thought you are being attacked. *smirks* Well isn't that a big grimoire you got there, probably the biggest grimoire i've ever seen, well i guess it fits you"
"Really? You think so?"
"Of course I do, you have a big heart Kail, it really fit's you as a person"
"Oh! Thank you Sister Pamela!"
"Now remember Kail with big grimoire comes big responsibility, and i want you to use this for what is good and with good intentions ok?"
"Ok! i'll remember that!"
"And don't forget to train! the Magic Knight entrance exam is only six months away now so no slacking off for you young man"
*pouting* "but you promised that we can go to the capital right after i got my grimoire"
"Oh right*giggles* alright then we'll go to the capital tomorrow, and maybe we will meet your sister again"
"Yes! I'm going to ask for some advice with the entrance exam"
*smile* "Now Kail i'm going to go back to the church first because i still have some chores that need to be completed, see you back at the church~"
"Later Sister Pamela, i'll see you later"
After Sister Pamela leave, the awarding ceremony ended after a few moments and a final speech of advice from Lucius the children are allowed to leave the grimoire tower.
- No one's pov -
After the awarding ceremony ended each children went on they're own way, as for Kail, he met with some rather unwanted figures while on the way back to the church.
"Well well well, who do we got here?"
Kail immediately turn his head around and opened his grimoire and prepare to defend himself against his friendly neighbor Hale and his gang of 8 other kids.
"*tch* I thought i've told you to not come back to this area Hale, or do i need to ram it into your head like last time?" - Kail
" Don't act too cocky now that you got a shitty grimoire you little shit" - Hale
Seeing that he was outnumbered Kail tries to convince the hearts of Hale's henchmen.
"Oh come on Hale don't waste they're health here, don't you remember what happened to you after our last fight? And yet you still managed to convince a poor soul to waste their health for you?" - Kail
"Oh what was that? Too scared to fight for real?" - Hale
As the attempt to intimidate fails, both side began preparing themselves for the coming fight.
Tension filled the air as both side wait for someone to attack first, the air is so dense that you can almost see it.
Until a voice broke through the silence.
"WOY!" - ???
As Kail turns his head around, the sight put a smile on his face.
His friends Hayley, Winton, Wesley, Brandyn and Auden all have come to his rescue, or to join the fight more likely.
"How about saving some for the rest of us huh Rocky?" - Hayley
*smile* "Heh go ahead this is to much for me anyway" - Kail
"Good god Kail is that your Grimoire?! It's the same size as your body!" - Auden
"Did you pay extra for that? Why is it so big?" - Winton
"I don't know! It's just like this when i got it- why are we still discussing this?!" - Kail
Suddenly a wall of tree vines formed in front of them and blocked all of the attacks that are going right at the while they were busy talking.
"Hey how about we put down these dogs first before it bit us!" - Brandyn
"You know what for once you actually sounds reasonable" - Kail
After that we quickly went on the counter attack.
"Hey quick question, how do you use a grimoire?" - Kail
"Oh you gotta be kidding me! Here like this Snow magic: freezing touch!" Winton climb up the wall of tree vines and throw a gust of snow at Hale and his group.
"fire magic: blazing fire!" Luckily for them... or some of them Hale shoot out fire from his hands and melted the coming snow, but some of it did get around the fire and hit some of his henchmen, when the snow hit a body part it immediately freezes that body part of a big area of it.
"aaargghh!" The three kid that did get hit immediately felt the effect of the attack and collapse from the pain.
The some that didn't get his immediately turn their attention to Winton and attack him with everything they got.
"... maybe attacking from here wasn't the best idea" - Winton
But before the attacks could hit, Winton jump from the wall and while falling make a pile of snow in an attempt to catch himself.
But the attempt failed as he went right through the snow and hit the ground.
*groan* - Winton
"Christ! Winton you alright?!" - Brandyn
"Yeah just...go on without me, i'm just gonna watch from here" - Winton
"That didn't help showing me how to use a grimoire Winton!" -Kail
"Oh shut up! Just...I don't know, it's just feels natural okay, just...try to use your magic!" - Winton
After that me, Brandyn, Hayley and Wesley went to avenge our fallen friend and went all out.
"Root magic: creeping prison" - Brandyn
A bunch of tree roots shots up from the ground and wrapped around Hale and the remaining of his guys in tree roots and lock the in place.
"Hey Wesley! You want to try that combo move that we've practiced?!" - Hayley
"Oh your crazy! Alright LET'S DO IT BROTHER!" - Wesley
"Wind magic: gentle breeze!" - Wesley
"Fire magic: fire rain!" - Hayley
A very strong wind go towards the tied up thugs and then immediately the wind are filled with hundreds of fire ball upon fire ball hitting everything in that direction.
But from all the smoke that covers the entire street Hale still got a last trick up his sleeve.
"*chuckle* You fools" - Hale
When the smoke clears I can see Hale is absorbing all the fire that were around him to his hands and I knew exactly what he is going to do.
"LOOK OU-" - Kail
But before he could warn them Hale has started his attack.
"Fire magic: hell's mountain!"
Two massive beam shot out from his hands and head straight to the ley brothers who are out of mana at this point after letting out their previous combo attack.
Every second of it feels like an entire day, the beam that are slowly cutting the time between my friends and death as I don't even have an idea how to use my grimoire.
In every moment, I feel my heart filled with despair and anger, angry at how powerless I am even to save my friends.
But in that moment of despair, I hear a voice whispering into my ears.
"Kail...why are you in such despair my son?" - ???
"Why why can't I do anything when i'm actually needed, how am I supposed to save my friends if I can't even use a single spell, how am I going to become a magic knight if I don't know how to use my own grimoire, how am I going to become a magic knight without my friend-?"
"*shh* do not put doubt in your heart child, believe yourself as you believe the lord, you are gifted Kail with a special touch of God as you are destined to guide this kingdom out of the strayed path of evil and bring it back to the path that God has layed and let him be the light unto that path so they will not strad"
"What? I'm destined with such task? But how am I supposed to complete such task?"
"Do not let this task be a burden to you child. For as long as God wills it there's no such thing as impossible. Now face your foes and finished what has been started.
The path has been layed for you Kail, now stand tall as you fight for what is right and lead mankind when the hours of darkness approaches. Until next time we shall meet again Kail" - ???
When the voice leave my head, i just stood there as if time itself has stopped moving. Im there alone at my own thought. I realized who was talking to me and started praying.
"O Holy St. Jude, apostle and martyr, great in virtue, rich in miracle, near kinsman of Jesus Christ, faithful intercessor of all who invoked your special patronage in time of need.
To you I have recourse from the depth of my heart, and humbly beg great power to come to my assistance.
Help me in my present and most urgent petition.
Help me save the live of mine friends and peers.
In return I promise to make your name known and cause your name to be invoked.
St. Jude, pray for us and all who invoked thy aid. Amen."
Right after I said my prayer my grimoire started to turn it's aura for gray to golden and a cross carved itself into the front cover of my grimoire.
Like I was struck by some kind of magic, I could feel the doubt in me vanish and change to a desire, a desire to save.
"Holy earth magic: shield wall!"
A wall of rock burst through the ground right in the path of Hale's fire.
*Boom* The wall held for some time before the beam eventually broke through, dust and debris fly's everywhere but I wasn't deterred.
"Holy earth magic: shield wall"
Once again a wall of rock comes out from the ground to block the laser, and then another behind it, and then another then another then another then another.
As Hale's beam penetrated my wall another two comes up behind the previous one.
As this was continuing Hale's beam was slowly becoming weaker as the fire around him runs out.
"YOU ROTTEN CORPSE!"
He stopped his attack and turned his attention to me.
"Fire magic: hell's Mountain!"
But went he went to attack he realised that he had used up all of his energy and couldn't not use his spell anymore.
Seeing this I see no more purpose in continuing this fight, and try to ended it quickly.
"Alright let's see...*flip*...*flip*...*flip* !!!"
Holy earth magic: stairway to heaven!"
Multiple rock pillars shot out from the ground and hit Hale on the jaw, sides and back.
Blood comes out of his mouth and Kail could hear several sounds of bones cracking from his attack.
The attack proofed to much for Hale's body as he fell unconscious marking the end of this fight
As Hale's unconscious body drop to the ground I look around and see the aftermath of our fight.
Bodies littered the ground the only one that still has some stamina here is me and Brandyn. Speaking of Brandyn here he come.
"Holy Christ Kail! That was something alright!"
"Yeah that was.. something"
"Speaking of what happened to your grimoire? I don't remember it having a cross on it before"
"Oh uh... it's a..gift"
"what? a gift? From who God?"
".. yes"
"damn I should've go to the church more often, you guys gets all kinds of cool stuff"
"so... what are we going to do with them?"
He points at the unconscious bodies that littered the ground.
"Well...let's take them to the church then, i'm sure Sister Pamela can heal them all"
"Oh yeah, nothing's better than a good bath of healing water magic right now" - Winton
"Oh you're up! Good, now help me drag these bodies" - Brandyn
"Oh come on! I'm injured here, i'm the one who's supposed to get help" - Winton
"Yeah the only reason you got injured is because you think attacking for a top of a wall is supposed to keep you save" - Brandyn
"Hey! It was a good advantage location, I can easily attack them from the high ground! And I didn't expect them to immediately attack back" - Winton
"See your fault, now help me with these bodies" - Brandyn
While Brandyn is talking to Winton, Kail went to check on the ley brothers and then see that they are rounding up the unconscious bodies and ties them with Hayley's magic.
"Good God Kail, what have you been doing for training? Making castle's?" - Hayley
"Yeah this wall's are no joke, most of it's are taller than my house" - Wesley
He says while he pat the giant wall next to him.
"Well I can confidently say that have been training my stamina lately" - Kail
"Already getting ready for the Magic Knight entrance exam?" - Hayley
"Of course i am, I'm still going to the greatest general in this kingdom!" - Kail
"Well you better fastened your pace before I leave you in the dust" - Wesley
Wesley is actually a year older than Kail and he was about to take the magic knight exam the year before, but a certain boy just won't stop begging him to wait for another year so that they can go to the exam together.
In his defence Wesley is a really nice guy that had a hard time declining favours from his friends, but he's not naive either.
"Oh ok ok, so that's how it is huh?" - Kail
"Alright you two shut it now, Kail where should we drop these guys off?" - Hayley
He gestured to the unconscious bodies that he has tied up with his magic.
"Just bring them to the church so that they can be treated" - Kail
As the trio began to drag the bodies away to meets up with Brandyn and Winton, after they finished regrouping they began to walk to the church with Brandyn ended up carrying most of the bodies, his reasoning is that it is his responsibility as the oldest member of the groub to fix the mess that they've done.
Of course no one's gonna object it, and with Kail and his friends walking away in triumph, it mark the end of this chapter.
Side note: This definitely takes way more time than I originally imagined, I hope anyone who reads it likes it.
And I just had to hope that I don't offend anyone that I didn't mean to offend.
