Prologue

One could say that life is but a journey filled with obstacles to overcome. Whether that's true or not depends on whatever the person thinks.

Personally, as of late I keep thinking about the increasing amounts of difficulty and complexity the events in my life have been. As the challenges keep coming, I push myself more and more to rise above them and stay alive.

Difficulty and challenge is ultimately subjective based on a person's personal experience and their own tolerance to it.

What's a broken bone compared to millions of yen in crushing debt?

Well they're both different in the first place, it's difficult to compare. But for some people they would prefer the pain, while others would prefer the debt. Another is more tolerant of pain while the other is more easily able to pay off the money.

What about one person who always had enough to eat started to starve compared to another person who had always starved.

They have different life experiences and so they would view the severity of the situation differently.

One way to think about it is that to constantly compare those things is to invalidate the individual's own hardships, that it possibly implies that it's seemingly less important because someone else has had it worse. It's all a matter of perspective and whether that's right or not depends on the person.

For me I think my tolerance for the more violent challenges in life has increased exponentially the past few months. Although schoolwork is still a huge pain as before, as I'm reminded by Hiratsuka sensei's lecture on Japanese literature.

My thoughts are interrupted by a large glass breaking noise that had just erupted from outside, bringing the attention of the classroom towards the window. What had been seen by everyone was a large crack high up in the sky.

After seeing this, discussion had erupted around the room wondering what it is. As for me I couldn't help but be momentarily frozen from the now precarious situation that everyone else was unaware of.

The Demons had managed to succeed.

We've failed.

During my temporary shock I had involuntarily expressed my thoughts out loud, "This is bad."

My voice had mostly been drowned out from the conversations around me, the only one who seemed to have heard was Yuigahama as she turned towards me with a questioning look in her expression.

Before she could say anything another loud crackling sound had just come from the crack in the sky. Bringing her attention back towards the window. As the sound continued the fracture continued to extend in a spider web like fashion.

My rising dread was only rivaled by my own sense of acceptance of this situation. I prepare myself for the inevitable and check my current equipment.

I was ill equipped as I didn't expect to be in this situation, I only had the bare essentials but it will have to be enough. I will make it be enough.

The fracture in the sky had finally shattered showing a hole shrouded in darkness. And within the darkness came a multitude of figures of varying sizes and shapes.

Just as the initial wave entered into our world a grid like barrier shimmered into existence and enveloped the sky above the newly created entrance in response to the dimensional travel. The grid flowed outward to create a half sphere that likely covered a substantial amount of the city.

There was a moment of silence as everyone was processing seeing all sorts of creatures exit the hole in the sky and the appearance of the grid.

That silence didn't last long as panic started erupting from the class as they saw more and more of those figures rain down upon the city. Those figures had seemingly killed people and caused damage to the surrounding area through elemental attacks or sheer strength.

"This can't be real."

"Is this some sort of elaborate prank?!"

"What is happening?"

Questions were asked and went unanswered. Further pondering from my classmates was halted by a shadow covering the windows.

"Get back from the windows!"

My warning evidently only got heard by some of my classmates as half of them still stood by the windows while the other half got out of the way.

A large winged four legged creature broke through the glass and some of the wall

A Gryphon.

Luckily it didn't hit anyone directly and those close were only mildly injured. Some being on the ground having been knocked back from it's entrance. What was less lucky was the giant excuse of a bird moving towards another grounded student bleeding with its beak opening for it to get a little snack.

It was interrupted by a bullet to the eye.

Some of my classmates that were concentrating on the Gryphon brought their dumbfounded attention to me as they bore witness to me and the smoking pistol in my left hand.

As of recently, it's been a policy of mine to always bring weapons wherever I go. And once again I've been totally justified in the extra hassle of putting a shoulder gun holster under my school blazer.

The Gryphon screeched and with its beak beginning to glow with energy, lunged at me.

In one swift motion I took out a knife out of a sheath hidden underneath my belt and clothes. With the blade in my right hand I swiftly moved to the side and sliced along the Gryphon as it moved past me towards the wall, earning a long cut on it's flank.

As it tried to stop itself, I kicked it to crash into my seat and plow right through the wall as it carried it's momentum into the hallway. The energy that it puts into that attack makes it easier to push forward. I raised my gun towards its behind and shot three times. It screeched and turned around quickly to get back at me.

In it's rush, terrible position, and lack of an eye it didn't see my knife already descending to where it's head was moving to until it was too late.

Blood splattered and the Gryphon fell down as I took the knife out of it's skull. The corpse slowly dissolved into a red mist where it dispersed into the air.

My whole class was silent until it was broken by Yuigahama, "H-hiki, how did you do that? What's h-happening?"

I sigh, at this point it's impossible to deny anything, "It seems that the demons have broken through the barrier between worlds," I walk back in the class while putting my weapons back into their holsters.

"D-demons!? They're real!?"

I looked through my bag to grab an armored gauntlet, "Yep," I put the gauntlet on my left hand and a screen opened up on the forearm part of it, "And I'm a demon summoner."

"What?"

Fire burst open the door, "Hee ho, it's time to have some fun, ho!" Jack O' Lantern heads greet us.

A pair of Pyro Jacks.

It's time to get the show on the road. I thrust my gauntleted hand in front of me, the screen on it flashing on.

"I Summon You!"

A/N

The start of the first fic in the Oregairu x Megami Tensei section. Technically there was another with the same crossover titled "My teen romantic come- is that a demon?" by max3213. But that was just listed under the non crossover stories.

I read that story before I've played any SMT game or even heard of it. Then a while after I played quite a few SMT games, I'm thinking about crossover stories with that series. Because of that I remembered I had read that one story years back.

So this is sort of inspired by max3213.

It's combining elements from multiple SMT series with probably a SMT IV focus. There's also going to be my own interpretations and new elements added into the demonic aspect of this story.

Next chapter should bring us to the beginning, before the prologue happens.
