Chapter 3: Recovery(Haggar's/Honneva's POV)

Haggar/Honvera smiles. Her husband will be waking up soon. And then they can deal with Lotor. Lotor…her son. How could she have forgotten and neglected her son? Or forget her dear husband. Though she suspects that he has also had his memory altered. As Zarkon remembered more than she did when she didn't know who she was.

Zarkon had given her the name Haggar. She scowls, angery.

She understood why she was dying. However, that decision led her to miss her son's life. Making Lotor miserable. Sighing, she remembers that she has to tell Lotor out, otherwise if Dark Zarkon(that's what she is calling her husband as he got possessed or altered by the rift creatures) would banish her.

Her research on Quintessence is important to her, but there's other things. Like researching Oriande.

Dark Zarkon moans, and Haggar/Honnevra sighs. If only she could find Oriande and learn the secrets of Altean Alchemy. Then she would be able to restore her husband's mind and then they could be a family again with Lotor.

She remembers the days when Zarkon would be interested in her research and urge her to take breaks from it. Then she frowns knowing how researching the rift twenty-four seven made her sick and made her Altean cheek marks turn almost into slits of red. Her purple hair turned white.

King Alfor had been right, that Rift was causing problems. So of course she had to be so engrossed in researching the Rift that it brought the destruction of the Galra Homeplanet after Zarkon and her were out of commission from Rift creature possession.

Then that led to the Destruction of the Altean people and their Homeplanet and the enslavement of most of the planets in the Universe. If she could go back and stop her younger self….She shakes her head. There is no amount of Altean Alchemy that makes someone change time.

It's one of the limits King Alfor revealed to her after his trip to Oriande. AS he expressed, 'I thought knowing all the secrets of Altean Alchemy would have included time travel. But alas it does not.'

Haggar/Honerva chuckles at the memory. King Alfor could really be comedic when he wanted to be, huh? Sadness weighs her down, she had been responisble for King Alfor's death, responsible for millions of Alteans lives, all because she wanted to keep studying Quintessence and that stupid rift!

Suddenly Dark Zarkon sits up, his glowing purple eyes looking at her. It makes her uncomfortable. She has to hold back a shudder.

"HHHaaaaggggaaarrrr. What happened to me? My brain feels on fire. Also where is Lotor!? If I find out he has been ruling while I've been dealing with…with…with.."

"Your injuries Voltron caused?" She suggests, still uncomfortable hearing a dark, serious voice from her once fun loving husband. That's in the past, she chides herself.

"Yes. However I would like to know that my Empire and everything we've been building towards is still together. Lotor has always had ideas that include more Quintessence for the Empire. Or getting the Black Lion back. Now that the Black Paladin is dead."

Honerva/Haggar just simply nods. What else can she do, her husband has her life in his hands. And if she goes against his wishes, well, she's seen what he, what the Empire can do to those that betray them.

"As you wish." It breaks her heart to say that. That's she's allowing Zarkon to harm her son, their son.

How she wished she would've listened to King Alfor when he tried to get her to stop. Again she chides herself, the past is in the past. The future is yours to make. But how do I do that? Without being….

"Get me a com so I can tell the Galra what Lotor is. A traitor."

Bile rises in her throat, and she tells Zarkon, "I also discovered that Lotor is making a ship out of a comet that is similar to the comet that Voltron was made out of."

Zarkon suddenly rises up, "What?! How dare he! How dare he! He is scum! He is Half-Altean! And yet he continues to find ways to annoy me. Does he think that he can beat Voltron with ships made from the same as Voltron! What an idea! Alfor made those ships with Altean Alchemy! A magic long gone because I destroyed all the Alteans except Alfor's brat."

Honerva/Haggar simply nods and goes to retrieve a com. However, unease fills her mind. As she remembers when she liked Dark Zarkon's treatment toward his son. Why? Why? Why is she confused?

Deep breaths. Deep breaths.

She sets down the com and Dark Zarkon grabs it. He speaks into it while holding it to his face, telling the whole Galra Empire that her son is to be killed on sight and that he is a traitor.

Honerva/Haggar has to stop herself from clenching her fists in 's his, our, son he's talking about. How dare he! Calm down, calm down. This isn't the time nor the place.

Then her, her, her husband ends the link by crushing the com with his fist.

"Now that is taken care of, tell me where Lotor is building his ships and I will communicate to whatever Galra commander is in the area and have them fight Lotor and his generals.

She nods, though anger is now making a knot in her stomach. Reluctantly she tells him the information. Though she realizes, perhaps she can somehow get Voltron to hear his communication. Having them rush to a base, assuming the Galra are attacking a rebel outpost or something would be much better than hearing that Dark Zarkon succeeded in having some Galra kill his son.

Using her Altean Alchemy Honerva/Haggar sends the message across the universe, pinpointing Team Voltron's location. Fortunately for her, three of the paladins are looking at a screen of some sort. So she lets the transmission play. But she alters it to make it seem that the Galra are attacking a rebel base or something.

Smiling at her success she leaves Dark Zarkon to rest and goes to do other duties, despite having the motherly urge to protect her son.

Author's Note: Okay, sorry for keeping you guys waiting. It's just I did not know how to write this chapter, and then it hit me. I should try to humanize Honvera/Haggar and make her motives more clear and certain than VLD did in canon. I think Honerva was handled badly as a villain for Voltron to face. As she only wanted her son and then she got mad for no reason when a version of her son didn't like her. There was no well I'll try to warm up to him, nothing. So I wanted to take her motives and make them the focus. As everything she does is for her family and I want in this Team Arc to also explore the villains motives and plans. Also the next chapter will be in Marinette's POV and then we'll take a dive into the Miraculous side of things. Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter:)
