Hello. I wrote this on a whim. I was just thinking about the Shinobi in themselves. The shinobi. The damned.

Shinobi

ch.1

We are the Shinobi. The ones charged with protecting our homes. The ones who are blessed with the honor of protecting the ones we love at all costs. We are trained by those who are more experienced. We find our specialty or we use what is called a Kekkei Genkai, a bloodline trait. These blessings are refined, molded until finally we are considered good enough to take up a headband. This headband represents our home and our honor. At least that's one way to think about it.

Another way is that this headband represents the place we come from, that we are to protect if it kills us. That it hides who we truly are and when we put it on it hides the felings we are not to show we have. It hides our humanity and our hearts. So we are shown to feel nothing. Even when we die we are not human. We are taken apart like animals, to hide the secrets of the place we came from. Even then we are protecting our home. That is the life of a shinobi. To live and die so that in the end we will win. Against our opponet. Against another town. Sometimes even against little defensless children, or a defenseless town. We are only to follow orders. We are taught not to think or our opponets as human. Stop you ears, close your eyes, and hide your heart to everything except the creature you're destroying. Even their screaming.

It's no wonder so many shinobi become criminals, capable of killing hundreds of people without a shred of guilt. Because guilt is hidden in our hearts. But it's also no wonder that just before they die they apologize, or some even let a tear come to their eyes and thank their killer. It's also no wonder that sometimes they even allow themselves to be killed when they decide that they have hidden their hearts long enough. When they're tired enough. They will always die in repentance.

When you get older you start to understand rather than regret. That's why it's closer to repentance. I guess that's what they mean when they say adults are selfish. I wouldn't know, because I'm just a child. A child who has seen death and wears their headband constantly. I have someone precious to protect. That's why I wear this headband. That's why I have decided to kill the kindness in my heart. To protect someone precious, in hope that one day I can die in repentance.

I am a child that has seen death and brought it. But above all...

I am a shinobi.
