A Soft Spot

Elf: Not usually something I write about, and the characters are well.. kind of out of character but whatever...
"Sesshomaru! Sesshomaru!" The full dog demon heard the girl quite clearly, even though she was far away. Sesshomaru got up, and dashed to the girl's cries, coming upon a scene with a giant toad that had eight arms. In one of the hands was a small girl with black hair, wearing a checkered dress. Sesshomaru glared, killing the toad with ease and catching the girl before she fell to the ground at the same time.
"Rin." He said. "Are you alright?" Rin looked up at Sesshomaru, nodding quietly. Sesshomaru sighed, nodding. "Good. You had me worried." The girl blinked.
"I did?" She asked.
"Yes." Sesshomaru answered, looking down at the girl he was still holding in his arms. "Come on. You should be in bed by now." Sesshomaru carried her back to where he had been sitting, setting her down in a soft patch of grass while he adopted the stump of a tree to sit on. It was quite for a while, only the crickets chirping when Rin's small voice broke that silence.
"Sesshomaru?" she asked. Sesshomaru looked at her.
"Yes?" He said again.
"I know that your bothered because Inuyasha keeps getting away, but don't worry." Rin said. "I know you'll get him one day." Sesshomaru smiled, a rare occasion.
"I know, Rin." He said. "Now get some sleep." Rin nodded, closing her eyes again.
"G'night, Sesshomaru." She said quietly, yawning. Sesshomaru nodded, keeping watch at night.

"Shessy-Chan!" Rin eeped, jumping up onto his back from behind and linking her arms around his neck.
"Good Morning." Sesshomaru greeted her in turn, looking up at her. Rin smiled. "Rin…" Sesshomaru began. "Do you remember your father or mother?" Rin shook her head. "Well… I was thinking-"
"Oh that's never a good sign." Rin said, laughing. Sesshomaru smiled again, nodding.
"Yes, your right." He answered. "But I have…and I was wondering… would you like to have a father?" Rin shrugged.
"Yeah. That would be nice…" Was her answer. Sesshomaru looked up at her once more.
"What if… I asked to be your father?" Rin's eyes widened.
"Really?" She asked. Sesshomaru nodded. Rin hugged him as best she could in her position.
"Can I… take that as a yes?" Sesshomaru asked. Rin nodded.
"Sesshomaru!" she said. "I love you." Sesshomaru started walking, Rin still on his back.
"I love you too, Rin."
