Chapter 2

Her bags were packed. Her plane tickets were purchased. Her boxes already shipped. Inuyasha had helped her with it all. It had gone against their rule of a one a month coffee, but also...Ever since that night...When she saw him, he seemed to cling to her, not wanting her to leave.

That was fine with her. She hadn't wanted to leave either...But her study abroad was coming. She would have to leave. She couldn't throw the scholarship away, and it would look good on a resume - something Inuyasha was all too keen to remind her of, despite not asking to be reminded.

Kagome suspected that it was less for her benefit and more for his. She could accept that. It was getting harder to keep to his ridiculous rules, but if he needed to remind himself from time to time, then so be it. He had already bent some for her, and she had that night to remember when she was alone late at night in her apartment.

His lips on her skin. Trailing down her body, seeking out her secrets. Her fingertips exploring his nude flesh. Tracing the hard lines of his muscles freely.

When she closed her eyes, she could feel his weight pushing her down into the mattress.

But now, she just felt the weight of his hand holding hers as he drove her to the airport. The heat of his thumb as it absently caressed her knuckles. During their previous - because she refused to call it their last - meet up at the coffee shop, he had asked her how she was getting to the airport. He'd had a nervous look on his face. Like he wasn't sure he should ask...and like he was less sure he should offer his help.

Yet, offer it he did, and she had readily accepted it.

"I'd love it if you took me, Inuyasha…"

"...Then I will."

And he was...and the closer they came to the airport, the tighter his grip on her hand became.

When they parked the car, she could feel a weight fall over them. Like they didn't know what to say to each other. Things weren't going to change. They had agreed that they would still talk once a month until she returned, and she wouldn't be gone for that long. They knew this.

Yet, there was still an uneasy tension in the air.

"You'll tell me when you land?" he pressed as they dropped her luggage off.

"I will," she nodded, readjusting the strap of her carry on.

"And you will tell me when you make it to your campus?"

He was going against his own rules, but she could tell that he needed this, and frankly, so did she. She was scared. She hadn't been this scared in...a long time. But it was good! That was what she was telling herself.

This was a new kind of scared. The kind of scared that came with facing the unknown - going to a new place and being all on your own. It had been a long time since she had done something like this, and despite being scared, she was looking forward to it too. Even if she wouldn't be surrounded by people who spoke in her native tongue, she was going on a new adventure.

And that was how she needed to, and wanted to, look at it.

"I promise," she nodded, and he reached out to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear, gently cupping the side of her face. She remembered the heat of his hand there for a long time. The press of his lips against her forehead.

Her nose.

Her lips.

It was slow and lingering at first...and then it became hungry. Desperate. Needy.

It was like he was asking her not to go, and yet...he wouldn't speak the words. She knew he wouldn't. He couldn't...Even if his resolve had wavered in some areas, it was clear that this wasn't one he was willing to compromise. He wanted her to live without him, beyond their check-ins.

Now she would.

When they parted, his pupils were blown wide, and his lips were full and slightly puffy from kissing her.

"Have a good flight, Kagome."

His name was Damien.

He had kind eyes, and a wicked mouth. Like it had a secret it wanted to tell her, but no matter how much she wanted to hear it, it wouldn't divulge. When he smirked, she could see a hidden kiss at the corner of his lips. One that she wanted to feel.

His hair was always intentionally unkempt and shaggy - the result of too much wax and pomade. It left an irritating texture on her hands whenever she ran her fingers through his locks. She often teased him about it, calling it's awkward length terribly pretentious.

It was strange.

Inuyasha's hair had never bothered her, but it had suited him at the time. He was a wild man of the past. Damien's simply felt like he was hiding behind a Vidal Sassoon visage.

His skin was like the sweetest toffee and his eyes warmed chocolate. The result of the moors mixing with the people of Spain and France, which made people pause and ask him "what his background was."

It was something he hated. The rudeness of the question. How he was somehow exotic to them, yet back home, in France, he was just Damien.

Here, in America, he was Damien. Utterly fascinating and exotic, with an obsession with "soccer" and a thick French accent. People didn't know him. They took him at surface value. They didn't see what he let her see.

He was soft and gentle. Spontaneous and wild. A good listener. Annoyingly protective.

Her friend.

She had met him when she was moving into her dorm, juggling suitcases, a welcome folder, and her new key. He was leaning against the side of the international building surrounded by a curling plume of smoke, and a cigarette dangled perilously between his lips as he scrolled through his cell phone.

The overly chipper RA had asked him to move away from the entrance to the required distance, but he immediately began speaking French, pretending he couldn't understand. When the younger student gave up with a sigh, shaking his head, Kagome found her gaze lingering on him.

And he winked at her, a knowing, secretive smile curving his wicked lips.

Once she was settled in her room, he became nothing more than a distant thought as she called Inuyasha. He picked up after a few rings, and she could see the dark sky illuminated by the lights of Tokyo behind him. He was relieved when she reported that the flight had gone well. That it had been hard - yet manageable - finding her way from the airport.

But she was fine, and that was all that mattered to him.

"I miss you," he whispered selfishly, the result of too much sake or whisky that night.

"I'll be back before you know it," she'd replied, trying to ignore the way his words made her heart leap into her throat. She missed him too. She wanted to be wrapped in his arms again, but she knew that wouldn't happen. Not for a while. Not unless business sent him here, which it wouldn't.

"But not before you're ready," he reminded again. Not that he needed to. "Remember to enjoy yourself, and follow your heart, no matter where it leads you…"

She no longer knew if that meant that he wanted her to find comfort in another man's arms after their night together, or if it meant he wanted her to take every opportunity by the horns. Yet, if she were honest with herself, she knew the answer.

It was one she actively chose to not think about at the time...and yet the longer she knew Damien, the more it clawed at the corners of her mind.

The next time she saw Damien, she was walking to class. He was wearing just a pair of red basketball shorts as he kicked a soccer ball around with a small group of guys. When he saw her, he intentionally over shot, making the ball skitter towards her. Kagome lifted her foot, stopping it, and he jogged up to her, pretending that it had been in error. Thanking her for stopping the ball for them.

He had invited her to play with them, and if she hadn't been on her way to class, she would have.

The time after that, he was outside of the international building, yelling angry French into his phone as he puffed on his cigarette.

She had thought to pause and talk to him, but he was still on the phone, so she had passed him...but not before he gave her a pointed eye roll, indicating that he was less than thrilled to be talking to the person on the other end of the phone. She gave him a wane, apologetic smile before returning to her room.

Kagome finally learned his name when he sat beside her in her international business class.

"Damien," he introduced, extending his hand.

"Kagome," she replied, smiling as he tried her foriegn name.

It was a large lecture and she was a bit mad at herself for not seeing him before...but he had seen her.

"It's hard to not notice the prettiest girl in class."

Her face had blushed bright red at that, but it wasn't the first time he made her heart skip a beat. That came when she received a C on her first exam.

They had stayed up late into the night studying, surrounded by cups overflowing with hot coffee and tea. Soft music played from his bluetooth speakers, a woman cooing words to them in a language she didn't understand. He had popped an adderall to focus, and he had offered her the same, but she declined.

It wouldn't have made a difference.

English was difficult for her...And in the end, she had barely scraped by. She was angry and upset with herself. He had been calm. Listened to her rant and rave and express her disappointment...and when she was done, he took her small hands in his larger ones, looked her in the eyes, and told her it would be ok.

And as she fell into his chocolate eyes, she found herself believing him...and she felt a flutter in her stomach. Something that caused her to break away from him and race back to her room.

It had been completely unexpected, but his soft words...the deep timber of his voice...His constant support...He was her shoulder to lean her head on. Vent about her college stresses to. They had been nearly inseparable since he sat beside her in class, parting only to sleep, and sometimes not even then.

There had been a time when they had gone to a party together, and when they returned, their minds cloudy and the world around them fuzzy, they had stumbled into her bed. Their limbs tangled, and their breathing mellowed as they slept...but she felt a closeness with him that she had only ever felt for one other person.

Inuyasha.

And when she felt that flutter, she had hid from Damien for a week, until she spoke with Inuyasha.

Their monthly check in.

She had her tea and a small breakfast ready, and he had sake and his dinner. They spent their time filling each other in on their lives since they had last spoken, their arrangement returning to normal after she had confirmed her safe arrival. Then he asked her if she had made any new friends since classes began.

Damien had of course come up in conversation, and she noticed a subtle shift in Inuyasha's demeanor. The shift that overcame him whenever he asked her about her love life, and she knew what was coming before he even spoke the words.

"Do you want to pursue a relationship with him?"

Her words had come out in a sputtering jumble, and she watched Inuyasha lean back into his chair, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.

"You can, Kagome…"

His words had been soft. So soft she'd thought she'd imagined it.

"Inuyasha…"

"I don't want you to have any regrets, Kagome," he explained softly.

"But what about…" she began, unable to finish the thought. What about their night together? Hadn't that changed anything for him? It was normal to have a crush on someone from time to time, but she loved Inuyasha.

"Us?" he whispered, crossing his hands and looking down into his lap.

"Yeah…"

"I'll still be here, Kagome. If this is something you want to do, I won't throw it back in your face or hold it against you...If you need my blessing, you have it."

It wasn't what she had wanted to hear, and it left a sour taste in her mouth. No regrets. They had talked about it so many times before that it was beginning to grate on her nerves. She didn't want to have any regrets either but it felt like he was all but telling her to cheat on him!

It felt like he didn't even care!

She had told him as much, which had only led to a shouting match. It made her feel like she was fifteen again, and he was telling her to stay away from Kouga, only this time...he was pushing her into another man's arms.

When she hung up, she burst into tears of anger and frustration. The next thing she knew, Damien was there, laying beside her in bed and rubbing her back, whispering soft comforts into her hair. When she calmed, he told her that her suitemate had heard her yelling and crying and had gone to find him.

Her best friend in America.

She wanted to hide away. He wanted to cheer her up. He said nothing as he played movies from her childhood with French subtitles on, holding her in his arms and between his legs. It reminded her of Inuyasha, and when he deeply inhaled her scent, she could feel the ghost like twitching of a nose.

Damien never pressed her about that day. Never asked why he needed to bring a bottle of tequila to her room. Order in burgers to try and soak up the booze. She never told him that she could feel herself being pulled in directions she didn't want.

A week later, the pain had dulled, but the anger lingered. She loved Inuyasha, but she was growing tired of his game.

What's more, she was growing tired of him trying to make decisions for her...decisions that dictated who she was. If there was one thing her argument with Inuyasha had proved to her, it was to show her why she felt such a strong connection to Damien. It was because he reminded her so much of Inuyasha, and she hadn't even seen it at first.

Or perhaps she had, and she had simply been unable to pinpoint the why of it all.

Kagome took her time trying to articulate her feelings to herself, after that realization. She took her time examining them - turning them over in her mind for hours on end until she knew every nook and cranny of her mind.

When the weekend rolled around, Kagome called Inuyasha. It wasn't their normal scheduled time, but that didn't matter. He picked up all the same, and Kagome shakily exhaled before she calmly told him that she respected his desires for her.

However.

He needed to respect her own desires as well.

He couldn't change her. He couldn't coax her to share herself with someone else. She knew her heart and her mind...and she wasn't going to change it. She wasn't going to jump into bed with Damien or date him. She didn't want to date anyone else ever again. She had done that before. She knew what she wanted...and what she wanted wasn't someone else. She didn't want pale imitations of the man she knew she could have. She didn't want hollow duplicates. She didn't want to spend her life searching for fragments of the man before her in others.

She wanted him.

And when she had said her piece, Inuyasha sat before her, quiet, and looked away. He seemed to mull her words over. Absorb them. Really listen to her for the first time.

When he looked back at the screen, his fingers steepled before his lips, she could see the slump in his shoulders. The crumbling of his resolve as it turned to dust.

"Alright, Kagome," he relented. "Alright. I'll stop asking...and I won't encourage you anymore."

"Thank you, Inuyasha," she breathed, melting into the couch she sat on, picking up her still warm cup of tea to ground herself.

"Don't thank me," he chuckled humorlessly. "You're right. If you...I should...You're becoming an adult. That means you should make these decisions for yourself, and I shouldn't...encourage you to do as I have. If this is...what you want, I will not push you to do that. I'll stop."

She gave him a radiant smile then, and in that moment, it felt as if all was right in the world again.

The rest of her time in America was unremarkable, after that. Her English slowly improved, as did her classes and when she returned to Japan, she promised to keep in touch with Damien...and he her.

It wasn't the last time they parted ways.

In time, after Kagome's college graduation, Damien began exploring the world...and that included Japan...and her.

She welcomed him into her apartment with open arms, allowing him to help her pack. She was ready for a new space, you see. Now that she was no longer in college and she had a job, she was ready for something more.

Inuyasha was not, however. A fact that she complained bitterly about to Damien. He listened to her with rapt attention. Allowed her to vent and expunge all of her annoyance over his hesitation to move their relationship forward - still very insistent on only meeting her for coffee once a month.

It was something she didn't understand.

Damien didn't understand their history together, however. How could she begin to explain to him the complexities of their relationship? It felt near impossible. No one, outside of her family, knew the true extent of what she had been through. What she had seen...and with him.

There was a richness there. Thick and decadent and sweet and dark...Their history was...

Delicious.

And it wasn't something she could ever share with anyone else in full.

However that made things difficult...especially when Inuyasha and Damien met for the first time. Damien was stiff and cold with Inuyasha. He glared at him with a gaze that so fervently reminded her of the way Inuyasha used to look at Kouga that she felt punched out.

She was afraid to leave them alone in the same room together when Inuyasha came to assist her on moving day. They had both volunteered to take her more valuable items to her new apartment. They had been pleasant enough at first. Courteous towards one another.

They knew who they were to her.

And yet, as the day wore on, tensions between them clearly rose.

It wasn't until she left to grab take-out to eat, surrounded by boxes on the floor of her new apartment, that things came to a head. When she returned, plastic bags in hand, she heard them before she saw them.

Or rather.

She heard Damien.

He was yelling at Inuyasha for disregarding Kagome. He was yelling at him for not seeing how good he could have it with her. He was yelling at him because Inuyasha was hurting Kagome and he didn't even see it...or he was willfully ignoring it. And...

...He was yelling at Inuyasha because he didn't deserve her. He listed all of her attributes to him. Her kindness. Her intellect. Her beauty...everything that Damien loved and appreciated about her, he threw into Inuyasha's face.

And the worst of it...

Inuyasha wasn't even fighting Damien. He was simply standing there, accepting all of the barbs and hard truths...up until the end.

When Damien said he didn't deserve Kagome, Inuyasha had agreed.

He stood there and agreed with everything Damien had said. She was kind. Smart. Beautiful...

...And he didn't deserve her.

But that wasn't for him to decide.

Himself, or Damien. That was for Kagome to decide, ultimately...and he told Damien that he had intentions.

Kagome was fresh out of college. She had just started a new job.

He wanted to wait until her life had settled a bit more before he took things to the next level with her, should she still want him.

She hadn't been able to remain a mere eavesdropper after that...and when she entered her apartment, she noted that Inuyasha didn't even seem the least bit surprised to see her.

He knew she was there the whole time. Listening. Waiting for the right time.

And she knew the right time was coming.

He had said it...and she could see it in his eyes.

Soon.

It was going to be here soon.

Christmas was around the corner. There was a certain chill in the air that only came with the coming of winter. A freezing that made your bones ache and soul demand that you spend all day in bed, buried under the thick sheets...Yet Kagome found herself shivering in the passenger's seat of Inuyasha's car.

loath as she was to freeze like this, there wasn't another place in the world she would rather be. They were on their way to an onsen (one he confessed to owning) for Christmas...And she only had one thing on her wish list.

It had been two years since Inuyasha's blow up with Damien.

Her knight in shining armor.

Two. Long. Slow. Excruciating years with monthly check-ins slowly morphing from weekly into daily.

Two long years of hard work at her job...where she had just been promoted.

Two years of waiting. Of knowing.

Soon.

They could be 'them' soon.

He hadn't pressed her to date others since that fight so long ago. He had accepted, in time, that part of allowing her to be her own person meant that he needed to allow her to make choices about them with him...and that meant compromising to the point where his resolve over most things had melted.

He touched her freely now. He smoothed hair behind her ear. Held her into his side as they watched television or read. He kissed her cheeks when they greeted each other. When they left.

He pulled her into the space between his arms, kissing her forehead ever so sweetly.

And she loved it. She loved his clear affection for her...but they had never touched more than that. He still refused to, because he didn't trust himself. He was open with her about this. Brutally honest.

She could appreciate that. One only had oh so much willpower...and Inuyasha's was the stuff legends were born of. He had kept away from her for years, waiting for her to grow up. Catch up to him. But he was only half man...and both his demon and his human side were begging him to do things, and he knew that if presented with the opportunity again, he wouldn't be able to hold himself back.

Not as they had before.

So, she placated herself by hugging him. Snuggling into his side. Kissing his cheeks.

Or at least she had until now.

When they arrived at the onsen, she was delighted by its beauty. By how tucked away it was from the rest of civilization.

It took her back to a time when she was but a child running around the feudal era trying to slay demons and save the world. It took her back to a time when she had tried to hide her naked form from a young boy who wanted to gaze upon her body freely.

Now, she intended to make him look.

And if she were lucky, he would do more than just that.

He would touch her, as well.

She wanted to feel his hands on her skin again. His lips behind her ear. His fangs tracing her flesh.

She wanted Inuyasha to make her his...and she wanted him to do it on this trip.

Inuyasha intended for this trip to be peaceful and relaxing.

Rejuvenating.

Kagome intended for it to be bonding.

In more ways than one.

Inuyasha, in their last two years together, had eventually explained to her the mate bond. The bite. The entwining of their energies together. The resulting tying of their souls. She wanted it more than anything...and she was old enough now.

Kagome knew that she had always felt old enough for this...But now she really was old enough. Their physical age gap wasn't unheard of. He might appear to be a bit older than her, but not so much that anyone would assume he were a "sugar daddy". No one would think that their relationship was improper.

Kagome had found herself as a person. She had done everything Inuyasha had asked of her, since re-entering her life, and she planned to state her case once and for all on this trip. If he were to deny her once more...

Then she would demand an action plan from him.

She softly laughed at herself as she unpacked in their room - the one that was always reserved for him and only him - and he shot her a confused look. She easily dismissed it with a wry, secretive smile.

Children, after all, didn't think in terms of action plans. That felt very adult, to her. It was only further proof - in her mind - that it was the right time.

Their day together was nice. Quiet. Peaceful. They spent the afternoon curled up together, watching large clumps of snow drift down around them, sipping hot drinks. Just as the sun began to set, the snow stopped, and Kagome stood. Glancing over her shoulder with a coquettish grin, she slowly began to strip her clothes. She could hear the hitch of his breath from where he sat.

She could feel his eyes on her as she slowly bared inch after inch of pale skin to his hungering gaze...Then...Completely bare...She stepped out into the snow, her feet melting it to water and carving out small craters in the otherwise perfect white blanket. She came to the water's edge and sunk in, listening as he stripped down in the room and joined her.

The water sloshed around the sides of the stone as he stepped in, sinking to his waist.

Kagome watched as he moved to the other side of the small hot spring, the water lapping at his skin with every movement. When he settled, so did the silence around them. Everything stilled and became quiet as she closed her eyes, trying to silence the hammering of her heart within her rib cage.

She was going to make a move. She had to.

She wanted to.

Finally, after what felt like forever, she gathered up her nerve and moved across the hot spring, wrapping her arms around his neck. He responded in kind - surrounding her waist with his. Holding her tight. Keeping her close. He smiled down at her with warm honeyed eyes and dipped his head to sweetly kiss her lips.

When they parted, she caught his eyes again and spoke evenly. Calmly.

"Inuyasha...I'm ready."

There was no mistaking what she meant.

"There is nothing more for me to do. I've done it all. Everything you've asked...and now I'm asking - telling you. I want this, Inuyasha," she continued, drawing him closer to her. "I always have. I've never stopped wanting this. Not for a moment."

She watched him close his eyes and swallow...and she could see the last of his resolve crumble. There was no more pushing her away. No more telling her it wasn't the right time.

This was the right time.

She was ready.

And when he opened his eyes, she could see that he was as well.

Inuyasha smoothed his hands up her arms, sliding them behind her neck, and drew her in close, resting his forehead to hers. He breathed in deeply, before murmuring, "I want it too, Kagome...and I don't want to wait anymore either. I'm so tired of fighting us..."

"Then stop fighting, and kiss me."

He huffed a soft chuckle at that, and hooked a finger under her chin, tilting her face up so his lips could meet hers. They were as sweet as she remembered them. Better, even, because of the deliciousness of this moment. The moment when he finally gave in to her. When he finally consented to giving her everything she had ever wanted.

Where he finally allowed himself to have everything he had always craved.

Kagome could feel the exact instant he realized that for himself as well. She could feel the shift in the air around them. The way his lips pressed a little more firmly to hers. A little more urgently.

She could taste his hunger for this moment, and she couldn't begin to fathom what this must be like for him.

She had waited just over a decade for this.

He had waited nearly fifty times that.

Kagome hoped that this would be everything he had ever dreamed. She didn't doubt that it would be perfect, for her at least. How could it not be? She was finally with Inuyasha. She was finally going to be with the man she loved. She was going to bond with him...and he would never have to spend another decade alone again in his life.

She would remain by his side.

Always.

Kagome felt Inuyasha's blunted fingernails bite into the skin of her neck as he pressed hot open mouthed kisses to her jaw - parting from her lips so that she could breathe. He really was a considerate man. Kagome didn't recognize the sounds coming from her lips. They were breathy and punched out - little gasps for more. Little non-verbal demands for him to continue.

She wanted more.

She was always wanting more.

She craved all of him. She wanted to consume him. Bring him into her body and keep him there. Tuck him away into her soul and never let him leave again. Never let him push her away again. Never let him hold her at arm's length again.

Kagome ran her hands down his chest, feeling the smoothness of his wet skin. Memorizing every dip and curve of his hard chest under splayed fingertips.

It had been so long since she had been allowed to feel him like this. She'd missed it. She never wanted to live without it again.

She wouldn't have to.

Inuyaha's mouth trailed down her body, tracing the line of her clavicle with his tongue. His hands came to cup her breasts, rolling her already hard nipples beneath his fingers. Pinching them, just because he could. Just because he wanted to make her gasp. He moved between the valley of her breasts. Moved down towards her navel - his tongue blazing a path across her skin until he dipped below the seam of the water's edge that still lapped at her skin.

Kagome released a surprised yelp when she felt him positioning her thighs around his shoulders, her back pressing against the hard rocks of the hot spring. She reached up, open fingers grasping for something.

Anything.

She needed to ground herself, even if she didn't know how she would.

She needed...

More.

She needed him to keep nipping her thighs. She needed his tongue to soothe her skin. She needed him to move his head between-

Oh!

That was exactly what she needed. His lips and tongue on her clit sucking and circling and flicking and if she were in a better state of mind, she would have wondered how he was able to hold his breath underwater for this. Given that he was currently making it near impossible for her to remember her own name, however, she decided she didn't care. Thoughts, afterall, were overrated when the love of your life was finally giving you everything you had ever wanted...

And yet...

She still craved more.

Even as the coil within her wound tighter and tighter until it snapped...Even as she screamed his name loud enough that she was sure she could be heard for miles around...Even as her head swam in a sea of floating pleasure and contentment...

She needed more.

Inuyasha's head rose above the water of the hot spring, his lips parted as he took in deep gulps of air - sating his lungs to the fullest.

"Kagome," he breathed when she opened her eyes, looking at him but not quite seeing him yet. She waited for the glassiness of her eyes to fade away - for the world to sharpen again - and when it did, she drug his mouth to hers, slotting their lips together again. He tasted of her and she loved it. She loved the feel of his wet lips against hers.

She loved the evidence of what he had done to her on his skin.

Kagome felt Inuyasha's hands slide under her thighs, lifting her from the water as she wrapped her legs around his waist, and he carried her inside - his feet crunching the freshly fallen snow as he went. The air stung her nude, wet form but she didn't care. She would bear any discomfort with joy.

She had already been through so much, just to arrive at this moment at long last.

To feel him lay her down upon their bed, her inky black hair fanning around her shoulders like a beautiful halo.

She watched him stare down at her body for a moment - simply taking her in - before he climbed over her body, his hardness lightly pressing against her as he held himself above her. Gold met blue as he stared into her eyes, cupping the side of her face, like he wanted to remember this moment for the rest of his life.

She could understand the feeling. She wanted to as well.

"Inuyasha," she breathed, weaving her fingers together behind the nape of his neck.

"Kagome," he replied in kind before he pressed his lips across her brow. Her eyelids. Her nose. Her chin. Her lips.

Sweet and tender at first, then hard and passionate later. Teeth and tongues collided with one another as their fingers grappled to pull each other closer. Hold them tighter. When Inuyasha parted from her, he explored her body - the terrain familiar and yet not. It has been so long since they had been like this last. Longer than it should have been...And Inuyasha was keen on taking his time reacquainting himself with the spanse of her body. Learning her every curve and secret. He used his discoveries to take her apart - split her open to her marrow. Carve her open and leave her wanting and panting. Keening, punched out whimpers escaping her throat as his tongue moved across her.

Into her.

Her fingers grappled at the hair of his scalp, pulling it painfully taught. He didn't complain.

Didn't ask her to stop.

He simply continued on his journey - filling her body and her mind beyond anything she had ever taken before, and yet...

She wanted more.

More.

She was greedy, and gasping for air as he brought her over the edge the second time. Her nails digging harsh, red crescent lines into the skin of his shoulders. She would leave her mark on him. Make him never forget this moment, as she knew she never would.

When her world stopped spinning and her eyes slowly opened again, she looked into the golden eyes above her. She felt like she was floating - her mind filled with a warm haze that she couldn't see through. Not beyond those eyes.

"Hi," he mumurmed gently, cupping the side of her face.

"Hi," she replied, smiling softly at him.

They kissed then. Slow and soft and languid - they kept kissing and kissing, tasting the sweetness of one another. Feeding off of the love pouring between them into each other's bodies. When they parted, panting and pupils blown, Inuyasha moved between Kagome's legs, parting her thighs with strong, gentle hands.

"Are you sure," Inuyasha pressed, kissing the inside of her thigh.

He didn't need to ask.

He knew the answer.

She gave it all the same.

"Yes, Inuyasha," she breathed out in an exhale. "Bind us. Make me yours..."

"And me yours," he replied, positioning the tip of his cock at her entrance.

It didn't hurt, the feel of him sliding inside her. She had been worried at one point that she wouldn't be able to accomodate his girth and size. She was glad that wasn't the case now. She had made it so...and she was glad.

It allowed her to focus on his face. Watch it morph and shift in pleasure as he slowly entered her, savoring the feeling of sinking into her body. The tight wetness of it. Of being made one with her.

"Yash," she whimpered, unsure of what else to say. She was transfixed by him. Overwhelmed by him.

By this moment.

This was what she had waited years for, and now he was hers.

She wanted to laugh. To cry. To jump for joy.

But first, she wanted to hold onto him as he pounded into her.

"Kagome," he replied softly, kissing her long and languorous once more - his tongue sweeping across her own as he slotted their lips together. Her hands softly palmed at the skin of his back before sliding down, and she wrapped her ankles around the small of it. Her heels dug into his flesh, bringing him in, and he took that as encouragement to thrust into her.

Their joining was slow and tender at first. Kagome asked him to hold her wrists - to look her in the eye - and he obliged willingly. He maintained eye contact for as long as he could, his gaze never once shifting. Never once faltering. Not even as his pace increased. Not even as his movements started to seek something out from her, testing her reactions as if looking for a certain response.

Kagome was the first to look away. Her eyes slipping closed as he found a particularly sensitive spot within her body. One that left her trembling and whining - begging him for more. She wanted him to leave her completely undone. She wanted him to make it so she forgot everything but them. Everything but the pleasure winding tighter and tighter within her core.

He was happy to do just that.

"Touch yourself for me," he breathed into her ear, his words coming out in stuttering little pants - little hiccups for breath as his lungs screamed to be satiated. "I want you to touch yourself for me. I want to cum with you, Kagome," he pleaded, releasing one of the wrists pinned above her head.

She slipped her hand between their bodies, allowing it to ghost over the sweat slicked skin. She watched his face with unfocused eyes as her hand moved between her breasts. Over her ribs. Over her abdomen. Through the patch of dark curls between her legs. Her head jerked back almost painfully as she began to rub her clit - faster and faster.

More.

She needed more.

Kagome could feel Inuyasha mouthing at her neck, his hot breath against her wet skin making her squirm. He pressed little nips and bites there. She would bruise...but even better - soon she would scar. It excited her.

She wanted it.

She could feel their energies working together. The pink and red of their auras - demon and miko - swirling together in perfect unison. Greeting each other as old friends.

Lovers.

She could feel them building towards something - a sweet crescendo. It was adding to the tightening she felt from the pleasure - the coil within her ready to snap yet again, and she begged Inuyasha not to stop. Fervent pleads for more dripping from her lips, and filling the heavy air between them until everything shattered. Her orgasm swept through her, and she was absently aware of the bite at the junction of her neck. The hot spilling of blood. The fangs sinking deep within her.

The joining of their souls.

It was all too much, and her world went dark.

When Kagome awoke, the room was painted in warm rose hues. Her body felt stiff and sore, but...

She felt whole. Complete.

Kagome smiled as she rolled over in bed, greeted by two honeyed eyes.

"Mate," Inuyasha whispered, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. "Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas, Mate," she breathed, in reply, cupping his cheek in her palm.

Christmas was always a magical time.

And this one brought with it the promise of something more. Something new.

Because it was finally the right time.
