Red and his team were walking down route 12 when Kirin noticed Nouva was sweating.

"What's wrong Nouva?" Kirin asked, noticing how cautious Nouva was being.

Nouva just growled.

Voltaro chipped in "Oh, he's nervous around water."

Nouva spoke "I have a good reason to hate it. Maybe because I'm weak to it?"

Queenie chuckled "I'm weak to it as well and you don't see me fearing it"

"Yeah, well, you don't have the potential to die from it, do you?" He eyed her.

"U-uh no?" She gulped at his sudden dark turn.

Kirin frowned, "Nouva, I get you are weak to it but to die from it?"

Nouva just shook his head dodging the question.

"Well I'm weak to ground and I'm not afraid to walk it" Voltaro let out a hardy laugh.

Nouva just readjusted his scarf. "The ground and actual ground moves are different you dunce"

"Anyway..." Kirin tried to change the subject before the two started to fight, "What was Nouva like as a Charmander?"

Nouva jolted at this, "What? Why are you wanting to know about me as a Charmander?"

"He was like shorter than he is now! Probably as short as you"

Kirin puffed her face "Hey!"

Nouva, without flinching, smacked Voltaro. "It's not nice to joke about someone's height." He glared.

This surprised Queenie, Kirin and even Voltaro.

"He stuck up for Kirin, usually he doesn't give a flying Pidgey about anyone else unless they are in danger. But, trying to defend her cause of her height" Queenie puzzled.

"Anyway we should-" Nouva didn't finish when he walked right into something, bouncing off of it and tumbling backwards. He rubbed his head and was instantly greeted by Kirin.

"Are you alright Nouva?"

He shook his head "I'm fine" He then looks up and Red walks up to him looking on as well.

A Snorlax was sleeping and Red chuckled, "Well well if it ain't the Snorlax that blocks our way. We'll just have to catch him!". He looks down at his partner. "Are you ready to do this?"

Nouva gave a thumbs up smirking.

Red sat his backpack down and took out the Pokeflute.

Kirin slithered over to Red, "W-what's that Red's got there?", Kirin examined the strange looking object to the amusement of Red.

Nouva explained "It's a Pokeflute, it makes a pokemon wake up, no matter how much of a heavy sleeper they are."

Kirin's face lit up. "Wooooow! That's so cool!"

Nouva chuckled to himself at her reaction.

"Oh snap, is he gonna play the Ocarina of Time?" Voltaro asked.

Queenie facepalmed, "That's not an Ocarina. It's a flute"

Red started playing the Poke Flute. He shuffled his fingers across the instrument to make the melody. This went on for a few seconds and then they felt the ground shake. Red stops playing and looks up, as do his Pokemon, Only to see the Snorlax yawn and scratch his belly. He looked down to the group and gave a chuckle.

"Oh fellow Pokemon and Trainer. I am Snorlax! How do you all do?"

"We're doin' good! Can't complain, my guy!" Voltaro greeted back.

"I must say what a pleasant melody," The Snorlax scratched his belly more.

Red then scratched his head "Who should I use first? Aha! Voltaro go paralyze him first!" He pointed to the Raichu.

Voltaru saluted "You got it boss!"

"Ah you want to capture me? Very well, do your best" Snorlax chuckled.

Red ordered, "Use Thunder Wave!"

Voltaro paralyzed him but despite that Snorlax slammed his head into Voltaro's head with Headbutt. Voltaro stumbled backwards, mumbling the lyrics to "La Cucaracha" in a dazed state, before regaining his composure and then using quick attack on Snorlax. He bounced off of his belly and rolled on the ground. He got up raising his fists "Your belly of doom will not stop me!"

"Use quick attack again! Repeat it!" Red yelled.

He used quick attack again and bounced off yet again and landed in front of the group again. He slowly got up and gave a hurt chuckle "I-I will not falter!" He breathed, winded.

Snorlax spoke "Quite the persistent one! Though it may not be best to keep attacking my belly."

Voltaro ignored him and went to attack his belly but only gave a weak punch and fell over exhausted.

"Alright! Nouva! Weaken Snorlax"

Without hesitation Nouva charged the Snorlax.

Red threw his hand in the air "Use Flamethrower!"

Nouva obeyed and fired the flames from his mouth hitting Snorlax.

Snorlax grunted and then grabbed Nouva with one hand.

"Nouva!" Yelled Kirin.

Snorlax headbutted him, then threw him.

Nouva recovered by landing on his feet with one hand on the ground. "Shit, he's strong" He coughed, wincing from the pain. He awaited Red's next command.

"Alight Nouva! Go behind Snorlax and use Iron Tail!"

Nouva dashed around and was about to use Iron Tail when Snorlax turned around surprisingly fast, catching Nouva off guard. "How has Paralysis not kicked in yet?"

Snorlax used Heabutt once more as it was his only real attacking move. He knocked Nouva over near some water. Nouva looked at his reflection and then jumped back. "Damn acursed water!"

Snorlax gave a hardy laugh, "I'm sorry for knocking you that way I would say let yourself enjoy the water but you can't for obvious reasons."

Nouva growled a little annoyed. "Damn! Voltaro's Thunder Wave isn't kicking in, and my Flamethrower barely did any damage. Just how strong is this guy?"

Red sweatdropped. "Man this Snorlax is strong, however I think I need to let Nouva rest." He looked over to Nouva struggling to get up. "Nouva! That's enough!"

Nouva was determined to finish this battle but he heeded to his trainer's order.

"Kirin, you're up next!" Red yelled.

Kirin gulped seeing how her fellow team members could barely do anything against Snorlax. She had to try for her trainer though. Nouva walked up beside her and spoke. "You got this" He smiled slightly. She was reassured by him.

"Alright Kirin! Use Dragon Rage!"

She was engulfed in a blue flame then spewed them from her mouth and it hit Snorlax which did good damage. He tried to use headbutt but she dodged.

Red pointed. "Use Fire Blast!"

Kirin let loose the uniquely shaped flame and Snorlax took it head on. He turned to her and complimented her. "Nice attacks you got"

"O-oh thanks"

"But I do want to give it my all, I don't care if I win or lose, or am captured or not. Everything in life happens for a reason" He then ran towards her and she yelped as the ground was shaking making her trip as she was trying to evade. She just barely dodged his foot and slithered up his back.

"Now!" Red readjusted his hat "Use Dragon Rage once more!"

Snorlax was able to shake Kirin off of him before she did her attack. He then used yawn and it hit Kirin. Kirin fell to the ground and was beginning to become groggy from the move.

"This is bad," Queenie growled. "She will fall asleep soon, she has to finish this now"

Voltaro slumped up after his break and saw Kirin fighting. "Huh, she's doing well so far"

Nouva was rooting for her in his head. 'C'mon Kirin you can do this'

She then fell over asleep. Snorlax looked down and chuckled. "It's a shame I used that move, though whatever happens just go with the flow."

He picked Kirin up and Nouva started tensing. He wanted to help her but knew she had to do this for herself. Snorlax then headbutted her and then threw her into the water. She was sinking despite being asleep.

Nouva couldn't hold it in anymore. "Kirin! You have to wake up! You got this in the bag! You can do it!"

Queenie and Voltaro's jaws dropped at Nouva's sudden burst of encouragement. Queenie smiled at this and whispered to herself, "Nouva, Kirin sure is affecting you isn't she?"

Nouva ran towards the water where Kirin was thrown in. "KIRIN!" He yelled.

Kirin finally woke up and was surprised she was underwater. "I'm too weak… I can't do it. He's just too strong and I clamp up when I fight." She sighed. She then looked up to the surface and saw Nouva. She could hear what he was saying.

"You can do this, I know you can!"

Nouva? She thought to herself as she heard him talk.

Nouva continued. "You can't give up! You aren't weak! You have what it takes. You just have to stop doubting yourself!"

She smiled at these words and closed her eyes and blushed. "Nouva, he believes in me. I have to do this!" She began glowing white.

Nouva was shocked to see her glowing. "I-Is she?" He gasped at the realization.

Then the water emitted a glowing light. Red was running over and then stopped and shielded his eyes. After the glow ended everyone was silent and started to walk towards Nouva when all of a sudden, something came out of the water splashing Nouva making him jump back and yelling from the pain of the water.

Kirin laughed, "Sorry Nouva!" She then landed on the ground in front of him. She was now a Dragonair. She beamed. "Wow! I'm so tall now! I'm even taller than you!"

Nouva chuckled. "Well now I'm back to being the shortest, I guess."

Red snapped his fingers "Alright Kirin! You evolved, you still want to finish this fight!?"

She turned and nodded.

"I dare say, so she evolved? This will be fun!" Snorlax grinned.

Kirin was now much faster and stronger. She charged forward at Red's command.

"Use Surf!" He ordered.

Kirin let loose waves of water and Snorlax was swept away and tumbled. He stood up to see Kirin wrapped around his neck.

He tried to pull her off but she wouldn't budge.

Red threw his hand up in the air, "Now! Use Ice Beam!"

Kirin blasted Snorlax's face with a point blank Ice Beam and she jumped off of him as it hit. Snorlax fell over and gave out a long breath. "Well well, that fight we had was good. Well played. Now catch me or move on if you wish"

Red took a Great Ball and threw it. It hit Snorlax and then landed on the ground and shook once, twice, and click!

Red walked over to the pokeball and picked it up he then went over to Kirin and patted her head. "Good job Kirin! I'm so glad we added you to the team!"

Kirin smiled at the compliment but then turned to Nouva. "Thanks for giving me a confidence boost, Nouva!"

He looked up at her and just crossed his arms. "It's what team members are supposed to do right?" He huffed.

"I r-really appreciate it!" She smiled.

Red threw the great ball and out came Snorlax.

"Now there, big guy, we welcome you to the team! Your name will be... Quina!"

Snorlax smiled and took on his new name by his trainer.

"Alright gang! I guess I can let you guys stay out for a bit longer just let me patch everyone up!"

As everyone was sitting together, Quina extended his arm to Kirin. "That was a fine battle young lady."

"Oh? Thank you, to you as well" She shook his hand with her tail.

He nodded. "And for you two!" He said, catching Nouva and Voltaro's attention. "You guys were amazing, sorry about the way I had to fight ya."

Nouva waved him off "Eh it's whatever. I'm just glad that Kirin's alright"

Voltaro catching onto this grinned "Awww he was worried about Kirin!"

Nouva glared "Well for one she is a part of the team so..."

"I haven't heard our trainer call your name, what is it?" Quina asked.

Queenie bowed "I am Queenie, pleased to meet you!"

"Ah I see, yes yes. I can already tell by looking at all of you I am going to have an enjoyable adventure ahead. Queenie, what is everyone like?"

"Well I for one care about each of my team member's safety and make sure that they are all healthy."

Quina laughed "Quite the mother figure eh?"

Nouva flinched at 'mother figure' He looked down but brushed it off.

"What about you good sir?" Quina pointed at the Raichu.

Voltaro smirked

"Here we go" Kirin sighed.

"I am the lightning in the dark! The quickest of the quick! The absolute mad lad! Voltaro!" He did a series of poses.

Everyone deadpanned except Quina who gave a hard laugh "I like your energy, Voltaro!"

Voltaro leaned against Quina and elbowed him. "See! This guy gets it!"

"I would like to know about our little Dragonair there"

She started to shake a little "U-uh well I-" She struggled as all the attention was on her. Nouva noticed how uncomfortable she was and took over.

"Look, we don't need to pry her about who she is."

Quina looked at Nouva. "Well that's true. I wont pry her as she seems like the shy type. However you are the strong silent and reserve type right?"

Nouva shrugged "Think what you wanna think." He said as he let red spray him with a Super Potion.

"I still can't believe I evolved!" Kirin looked around at her new body.

Nouva put an arm around her. "You did good out there. See? I told you if you don't put yourself down you could do it" He gave a thumbs up.

She blushed. "T-thank you Nouva"

"Anyway welcome to the team Quina" Nouva stuck his hand out as best as he could.

Quina shook his hand smiling "Glad to be here"

And with that the team became larger. After Read healed all his Pokemon, he started to make way with them towards Fuchsia City.
