Hello it's been a while. Don't worry this isn't gone lol. It will however be slower for chapters to come out sometimes. Mainly due to me and my Beta Reader being busy at times. Anyway, onward with the chapter!

Red turned to his party as he and his team approached the gym. "Well guys, this will be our fifth gym battle. Now I think this gym will be more difficult than the others so far, but I know we can do this!"

All his pokemon nodded and followed closely behind him, entering the gym to find Koga meditating. Voltaro ran towards him yelling "We're gonna take you on! En garde!" only to face plant into a wall... an invisible wall. "Woah! Is he putting up a barrier with his magic!?" Voltaro gasped.

Nouva deadpanned. "Voltaro, it's an invisible glass wall."

Voltaro tried to remove his face from the glass but failed. Queenie tugged him and he was freed. "Whew, thanks Queenie!"

"I see the reflections of our bodies." Quina hummed. "Reflections show the outer shell of our body and spirit"

Voltaro just groaned. "Please don't preach today."

Red decided to try and figure out a way through the maze he stepped forward and kept bumping into the walls. Kirin bumped into a wall and almost fell when Nouva caught her. "Woah careful there" He smiled, holding her with both arms. She looked at him then turned away, blushing. He helped her stand back up and they continued.

Voltaro was getting pissed at the walls. "Come on! These are some hacks! How does he get around here?"

Queenie felt around the walls. "Well it has to be normal for him since I feel like he would memorize which way to go."

The others kept making their way through until Voltaro was left behind. He bumped into one of the invisible walls and slammed his fists repeatedly. "Let me in! LET ME IIIN!"

They all laughed at him and Voltaro turned his back and just muttered. "One of these days respect will be mine!"

After trial and error Red and his team finally made it to Koga who had his back turned to them still meditating. "Ah, were the walls difficult, trainer?"

Red responded. "Yes, but, that's not going to stop me from challenging you!"

Koga stood up and stretched. "Very well then, we shall begin", he said as he walked over to the battlefield with Red following.

"Now this will be interesting. Alright Challenger, may I know your name?"

"Red" He answered, adjusting his hat.

"Red, this will be an honor to fight you. Now send out your first pokemon so we can start. May the best team win." He bowed.

Red pointed to Queenie. "Alright, Queenie, I choose you for this first one!"

"Alright! Time to kick some ass!" She pumped her fists. She now stood in front of Red.

Koga takes a pokeball and chucks it yelling. "Go! Muk!"

The purple gunk pokemon stood over Queenie.

"Alright Queenie! Use Rock Slide!" Red threw his hand forward.

Queenie obeyed and took boulders and threw all of them at Muk.

Koga closed his eyes and commanded "Double Team!"

Muk then made after images and the Rock Slide missed.

"Which one is the real one!?" Queenie growled.

Red smirked "That's fine! Queenie use Earthquake!"

The real Muk flinches from the pain. Red noticed and pointed "There! Use Body Slam!"

Koga yelled "Poison Gas!"

"MUUUUK" He bellowed as he spewed purple smoke over the battlefield.

Nidoqueen grunted as she missed her Body Slam. She looked around and tried to see the Muk in the smoke.

Kirin frowned "Why would he order it to use poison gas?"

"Body slam!" Koga yelled, and out of the smoke came Muk crashing down on Nidoqueen, paralyzing her.

"Oh no!" Kirin gasped.

Nouva growled "Damn she's paralyized now, this isn't going to go well"

Snorlax hummed "Isn't she a ground type? Why would she get paralyzed?"

"Well, For one, ground type pokemon can get stunned from non-electric moves that can paralyze, like Stun Spore, Lick, and Body Slam." Nouva answered.

"Woah, you're very knowledgeable, Nouva!" Kirin complimented.

Nouva just brushed it off "Nah, I just know this from Queenie being on our team"

Queenie, flinching from the electricity sparking around her, struggled to get up as she looked around, only to find that Muk had hidden itself in the smoke.

"Queenie! Hang in there!" Red called out.

"Muk! Let's finish this! Use Body Slam once more!"

"It's not over yet! Use Earthquake!"

She winced but right before the Muk could launch itself into the ground it was hit by Queenie's move and it fainted.

"Way to go Queenie!" Red cheered.

Queenie crossed her arms and grinned.

Koga returns Muk to its pokeball "Well done" He takes another pokeball and throws Weezing out.

"Weeeeezing Weezing!" It bellowed.

Kirin grinned. "She can Earthquake it and win right?"

Nouva shook his head. "No, Weezing has the ability Levitate. So no ground moves will hit it."

Kirin just looked at Nouva in amazement "Woah, now it does make sense since Weezing isn't touching the ground."

"Now challenger, you might want to switch a Pokemon out!" Koga said.

"Nonsense, I believe in my pokemon till the end!"

Queenie nodded her head huffing.

"Weezing! Flamethrower!"

The flames scorched Queenie's body and she fell to the ground trying to get up but due to her status it prevented her from moving.

Koga grinned as he knew that the Nidoqueen wouldn't be able to do much. "Alright Weezing! Hyper Beam!"

Weezing then fires energy from its mouth yelling "Imma Firin mah Lazer!"

It engulfed Queenie, sending her flying into the bleachers next to the others. She finally faints and Koga bowed.

"Good work Queenie." Red walked over and patted her head. "Alright! Kirin, this is your first gym battle!"

Kirin nodded as she slithered over to the battlefield.

"Alright! Use Dragon Rage! Weezing is left open after that Hyper Beam!" Red ordered as he ran towards his spot.

She spewed blue flames towards Weezing who cried out in pain.

"Well then, Weezing! Sludge Bomb!"

Weezing then hurled sludge from its mouth.

"Kirin dodge and use Ice Beam!"

Kirin dodged and then fired the move.

"Weezing! Protect!"

Weezing just barely blocked the attack as it put up a force field.

"Ow, what happened?" Queenie finally came to.

"You put up a wonderful battle but alas, the Weezing proved to be too much for you" Quina said.

Queenie sat up and grinned. "Well the thing is if I didn't take so much damage I coulda held out longer."

Nouva spoke with his usual stoic face "Even then you can't do much to Weezing with its ability."

"So, Kirin is fighting huh?"

Nouva unintentionally smiled, "Yeah and she's going to win this"

Kirin begins panting a bit from the fight. She glances over at Nouva and gains some resolve.

"Alright Kirin! Wrap yourself around the Weezing!"

She lunges herself to the Weezing.

"Weezing don't let her get close!" Koga glared. "Spin with your Sludge Bomb!"

She nimbly maneuvers the sludge due to her serpentine body. She reaches Weezing and wraps herself around it.

"What the!?" The Weezing exclaims.

Queenie snickered to Nouva "I bet you wish that was you being tangled up by her" She gave a sly grin.

Nouva glares at her "What's that supposed to mean!?"

Queenie laughed waving her hand, "Oh nothing, thought I'd tease you a bit since Voltaro isn't here."

Nouva deadpanned "Sure"

Red grinned. "Great Job Kirin!" He snapped his fingers "Now! Fire Blast! Then Ice Beam!"

She fired the flames point blank at Weezing then with the Ice Beam.

Weezing fell to the floor with Kirin still wrapped around it.

"Hmmm" Koga sweated. "I might have to do it, It's all or nothing. Weezing!"

He paused and everyone went silent.

"Explosion"

Everyone's hearts dropped as soon as he said that.

Weezing then began to glow red.

Kirin tries to loosen her grip but she couldn't since Weezing landed on her. She decides to brace herself and keep her eyes closed.

Weezing then yelled as its energy expanded and engulfed Kirin, causing everyone to shield their eyes. A loud boom soon followed and debris went flying everywhere, even shattering some of the glass walls. Smoke flew everywhere and Nouva tried to open his eyes. "Kirin!" He yelled.

Everyone waited in anticipation as the smoke started to clear.

...

"Damn, when will this smoke clear!" Nouva growled.

Quina spoke "Don't hasten it, just be patient Nouva."

Kirin still stood before a fainted Weezing, huffing. She coughed up some blood much to Nouva's worry. She fainted and fell over as Nouva ran to her and picked her up by her head. "Kirin! Are you alright!?"

Queenie is again shocked by this. "Nouva... Kirin must mean alot to you for you to just be this worried over her."

"N-Nouva?" She opened her eyes.

Nouva sighed quietly in relief. "Well, I guess you could say that was quite a blast." He smirked.

She tried to chuckle but winced from the pain. Nouva picked her up and she yelped in surprise as he walked her over to the bleachers. She blushed saying "N-Nouva I can move just fine!"

He shook his head "I know but you deserve to rest and not exert more energy."

She blushes even more thinking 'Nouva, you're so sweet.'

He sat her down and then turned to see Red pointing at him.

"Nouva! You ready buddy?"

Nouva nodded and walked towards the battlefield with Kirin sighing and staring at him. Queenie tried to snap her out of her daze but failed.

"Alright! You chose Charmeleon. Now for my final pokemon! Venomoth!"

"Venomoth!" It cried, flapping its wings.

Nouva and the Venomoth have a short staredown.

"Alright! Nouva, use Dragon Claw!"

Nouva bolts towards the Venomoth who dodges swiftly.

"Venomoth! Psychic!"

Blue energy surrounded Nouva and Venomoth flung him into the ground.

"Damn that move is gonna get annoying!" Nouva growled.

"Nouva!" Red called. "Flamethrower!"

Nouva fires the flame and just barely misses, only catching a small part of one of Venomoth's wings.

"Fly up and use poison powder!" Koga ordered.

"Nouva! Run!" Red clenched his fist.

Nouva began running avoiding the purple dust. "Shit! If I could fly then this wouldn't be a problem!"

Red then came up with an idea. "Nouva! It's gaining on you! Turn around as you move and hit it with a point blank Flamethrower!"

Nouva flipped around and blasted the Venomoth in the face with Flamethrower.

Venomoth stopped spewing poisonous spores and flew high into the air.

"Ensure that he takes damage!" Koga yelled out. "Aerial Ace!"

Venomoth then started throwing flurries with its wings and Nouva dodged each but slowly became overwhelmed and finally got hit.

"NOUVA!" Kirin yelled out.

"Follow up with Psychic! Throw him into the ground!"

"Venomoth!" Venomoth's eyes glowed then Nouva was encased in Psychic energy and was flung into the ground with dust flying everywhere.

Venomoth slowly floated down and waited for the dust to clear.

"Nouva! Dragon Claw!"

Nouva rushed forward with dust still on him and slashed Venomoth across the face with his draconic energized claws.

"Not bad, your Charmeleon is trained well in both willpower and resilience" Koga says. "But, we will over power you! Venomoth! Signal Beam!"

The weird ray hits Nouva and he starts wobbling.

"What's wrong with him!?" Kirin gasps.

Queenie frowned. "He's confused"

Quina added. "Additionally Kirin, if the pokemon is confused they may attack themselves."

"Aint that some sort of whack!"

Everyone except Quina jolted.

Queenie glared "Voltaro don't scare us like that! When did you get here!?"

He grins. "Well, after that nuke went off and Kirin had her butt handed to her, I ran through the broken glass walls!" He says as Kirin stared him down.

"Please tell me you didn't get any cuts, if so I'm going to have to bandage you up!"

He gulped "No no no no! I'm fine! Really!" He waved his hands in front of him, "Let's just finish watching Nouva fight!"

Nouva was then thrown again with Psychic.

Nouva struggled to stand to his feet. He had blood seeping from his brow and down his nose. He growled as a vein formed on his forehead.

"Nouva needs to keep calm and figure out a way to outwit that Venomoth" Quina scratched his chin.

Kirin's face grew serious. "He can do it!"

"Nouva! Hang in there!" Red called out, "Try to use Dragon Claw!"

Nouva hears Red but he tries to hit the Venomoth but his strikes were slow and sluggish due to the amount of pain his body was feeling.

"Too slow!" Koga taunted. "Time to finish this! Venomoth! Sludge Bomb!"

Nouva dodged but failed his landing due to the immense pain he was in. He tumbled and laid on the ground huffing badly. He opened an eye slightly and saw Kirin with a worried look. He cursed himself "Damn, why do I feel bad about losing in front of her? No! I haven't lost yet!" He got up and looked straight down, closing his eyes.

"Venomoth Aerial Ace!"

Venomoth was about to launch itself when suddenly it stopped. Koga's eyes widened as he realized why Venomoth stopped.

Nouva... was glowing.

"N-nouva?" Red muttered.

Voltaro runs up Quina and sits atop his head. "Woo boy! He's evolving, guys!"

Nouva opened his eyes and growled "I'm done with this. This is getting annoying! I will win!"

He completely glowed blue and light emanated throughout the gym as his size increased and his body shaped and morphed. He then opened his eyes, roaring loudly as the light dispersed. He evolved into a Charizard.

"Ayo! Look at my boi! He was but a wee little Charmander when we met! Now look at him!" Voltaro shed a tear comedically.

Kirin just stared at Nouva and then she sighed and blushed deeply.

Voltaro waved his hand in front of her face, but she was zoned out. He snickered, elbowing her and snapping her out of her trance. "Wow you must think he's...HOT"

Kirin blushed and whispered loudly "Not as hot as this!" She said as she used Fire Blast at his face.

He wipes off the soot and Queenie balls up both fists and yells "That venomoth is gonna get his fucking shit wrecked! Go Nouva, get his ass!"

Everyone looked at her worriedly including Quina.

She sheepishly laughed. "Sorry, I really enjoy battles!"

Quina laughed. "Nothing wrong with that, everyone enjoys something."

Red jumped up with his fist in the air "Alright Nouva! You ready to show them what you're made of!?"

Nouva nods and Red reciprocates in kind and yells "Dragon Claw!"

Nouva flies forward and back slashes the Venomoth sending it into the air. "Woah, I can really feel the power difference!" He exclaimed, looking down at his new form in admiration. "Feels incredible!"

Koga sweated "He's so fast!"

Kirin gasped. "Woah, that's faster than Voltaro!"

Voltaro turns dramatically towards her. "No one is faster than Voltaro, the quickest of the quick! Stop thinking that he's... DASHING!"

Kirin just ignored him, blushing as she continued to watch Nouva's fight.

Koga throws his hand out "Don't let up Venomoth! Sludge Bomb!"

Venomoth fires its sludge at the incoming Charizard flying towards it, who dodges swiftly and, before reaching Venomoth, is ordered by Red to use Iron Tail. He does a frontflip spin and slams the Iron Tail on its head slamming the bug-poison type pokemon into the ground. Charizard flies in the air and looks down on the Venomoth who struggled to fly off the ground.

Red readjusted his cap and then told Nouva "Alright finish it with Flamethrower!"

Nouva swooped down and put his face in the Venomoths and used flamethrower at point blank, Sending Venomoth past Koga and slamming into the wall, cracking it in the process. Venomoth fainted and fell on the ground.

Koga gave a small smile and returned Venomoth to it's pokeball. "You did well old friend!" He put it away and walked to the middle of the battlefield with Red, meeting him and shaking his hand. "You gave me a wonderful battle, Challenger. You raised your pokemon with care. I present you with the Soul Badge."

"Thanks, I couldn't have done it without my pokemon." He says as he puts the badge in his case. He walked over to his newly evolved Chrizard and patted his head. "You did good Nouva, as did the rest of you who took part."

All his pokemon rushed and huddled over to Nouva and Kirin hugged him "You did it Nouva! I knew you could do it!"

Nouva just blushed slightly and turned his head away, huffing "It was just a battle."

"Huh..." Red says, catching all his pokemon's attention. "You are kinda big for being a Charizard.

"That he is," Koga intterupted. "Usually Charizards are five feet seven inches but this Charizard is clearly over that height."

Queenie then said "Now that you mention it he's a bit taller than Quina."

"Hey look on the bright side, it gives Kirin more to cuddle with!" Voltaro chuckles.

Kirin darted her eyes towards him as she began preparing a Fire Blast.

Before Nouva could faint from the exhaustion of the tough battle, Red decided to return everyone to their pokeball and take them to the pokemon center for a well-deserved rest.
