Hey so... sorry about that abscense! Been a few months. Alot has happened and still kinda is but just know I plan to complete this series! Hope you all enjoy!
A new day...
"Hey handsome! How did you sleep?" An energetic Dragonite smiled.
Nouva grinned while yawning. "It was good! Hopefully I'll get out this damn bed soon." He frowned.
She nuzzled him. "The nurse said you have about a week left before you can actually walk again. Plus your arm isn't broken like we thought."
"Yeah, luckily my shoulder just got a bruise..."
They sat there with Kirin cuddled up against him making sure not to hurt him. He felt awkward being physically against someone but yet, it felt wonderful.
"Damn." He touched his right eye...
"What's wrong?" Kirin looks up at him.
He sighed. "Nothing, just kinda feeling self-conscious about my scar."
She leans more into him. "It's not bad, it makes you look cool!"
He thought for a moment then turned to the Dragonite. "It does?"
She nodded. "Shows how strong my mate is."
Nouva blushed hard at the word 'mate'.
"Well, maybe just boyfriend at the moment since we've never done that yet."
Nouva gulped. "Uhh, let's just stick with boyfriend for now!" He sheepishly grinned.
The two were startled when the others came in but they continued to stay cuddled up.
"Look at mah boi!" Voltaro eyed them.
Queenie couldn't help but shed a tear. "Aww you guys are so adorable!"
Nouva looks away huffing while Kirin giggles.
"When are you two gonna mate!?"
They both glare at Voltaro and blast him in the face with fire. Both were blushing heavily.
Nouva just groaned. "Of course you ruined it." He said to himself.
"Anyway, you two look good together, I hope both of you will find true happiness. Life can bless you with love."
Nouva rolled his eyes at Quina while Kirin just gave a wider smile wagging her tail faster. Nouva noticed her tail moving and blushed. "Damn, that tail wag she does is actually cute."
His stomach growled. Kirin giggled with Nouva looking away.
"You want me to get you something to eat?" She asked getting up out of the bed.
Nouva smirked. "Well you don't have to, though this food they gave me is disgusting." He eyed the food on his side of the desk.
"I'm gonna go get you some berries." Kirin pumped her fists.
Nouva was about to object but she put a claw on his lip.
"Don't try to stop me!" She smiled.
Nouva grins blushing holding a hand up. "Alright, once you made up your mind about something, you are gonna do it."
She giggled before kissing him. As she turns to leave, she said, "I love you!"
Nouva gulped. "I-I love you too." He said nervously as he was still not used to saying that phrase. It made him feel all mushy and uneasy.
Everyone eyed him and he just looked away blushing again.
"Hey, there's no need to feel embarrassed Nouva." Queeine put her hands together.
Nouva just rolled his eyes. "I just feel awkward saying that."
"That's perfectly natural, just go with the flow Nouva. Go with the flow."
Nouva cringed. "Well, I suppose. She does make me feel happy." He gave in and smiled. He silently berate himself for what he said.
"I'm so happy for you two!" Queenie put a hand on his shoulder.
Voltaro couldn't help but annoy Nouva. "So buddy, did you like cuddling with her?"
Nouva blushed but couldn't deny it. "Does it matter?"
Voltaro was shocked as Nouva wasn't actually flat out denying it. "Wow, she really has changed you. But hey! It's in a good way!" He grinned putting an arm around Nouva's back.
Nouva growled. "Whatever... Lazuli if you don't get your boyfriend away from me..."
She and Voltaro both blushed and Voltaro's cheeks sparked. "W-what are you talking about! I'm not her boyfriend. It's not like I might or might not have a thing for her!" He gulped to what he said. Though no one understood what he said, since he said it super fast in one go.
"What did you say Voltaro?" Lazuli tilted her head.
He did a zipping mouth motion, "Nothing Lazuli!" He blushed harder than his cheek sacs.
Nouva laughed. "Doesn't feel so good for someone to tease you about that now, is it? Anyway, I feel... good! It just feels so nice to be around her and all that. She doesn't judge and understands my feelings."
Voltaro spoke, "Well well well, Nouva being open about how he feels instead of 'I'm fine'." He imitated his voice.
Nouva just rolled his eyes. "You're lucky I'm too hurt or I would choke slam you."
A bit later Kirin came back with some berries.
She sat next to him and handed him some as he ate them heartily. "Wow, was the food they have here really that bad?" She giggled and she ate some herself.
Nouva stuffing his face only nodded.
Voltaro tried to sneak some from Nouva only for his hand to be smacked by the Dragonite.
"This is for the recovering Charizard!" She huffed.
"No fair!" Voltaro sat on the floor crossing his arms.
Lazuli nudged him, "We can go get berries if you want."
Voltaro blushed but decided to play it cool. "Aight bet! See ya lovebirds!"
Queenie eyed them with Quina laughing.
"Say you two..." Quina got the two Pokemon's attention.
"What's up?" Nouva looked up at him.
"Why did that Rhydon attack you two... unprovoked"
Nouva blinked. "Well, why wait all this time to ask?"
Quina shrugged. "I just didn't want to bombard you with questions while you two were doing your thing."
"It is weird, maybe we were in his territory?" Kirin scratched her head.
Nouva went to readjust his scarf... except it wasn't there. "Ah." He whispered looking disappointed.
Kirin noticed this and jumped out of Nouva's bed, surprising all three of them.
"Nouva! I almost forgot! I made you this while you were unconscious!" She held up the scarf nervously, thinking he wasn't going to like it.
Nouva took it and smiled. "Wow... you made this?" He looked into her eyes.
Kirin nodded and put it around his neck. Nouva's cheeks tinged red as she did this. After wrapping it around him, she nuzzled him.
"I like it! Better than my old one! You did a wonderful job on this." Nouva smiled widely.
"I was worried it would look bad!" She scratched her head.
He grinned. "C'mon Kirin, I'm not hard to please!"
She sat next to him snuggling close, both of them blushing slightly.

A week has passed. Nouva was able to walk again but his body still needed some more time to recover. Red decided it was time to take on Sabrina. He opted Nouva to sit this one out since he was still in recovery, though Nouva is insistent on battling. Red at least agreed to let him watch.
"I'm nervous." Kirin gulped holding Nouva's hand. Ever since they've dated, they have been a bit more comfortable with being in a relationship. Although they haven't been deeply intimate, they have been hand-holding, kissing, and cuddling. They were embarrassed about it at first but soon got used to it. Kirin was the happiest she's ever been. She has found her mate only within a week.
Nouva on the other hand, was starting to feel mushy and a bit more emotional. He never actually thought about being in a relationship until he kept hanging around Kirin. He didn't have as much feelings for Kirin, as she did for him. He eventually grew to have a crush on her without himself even realizing it. Ever since an incident in the past, he was usually reserved and didn't like conversing or being touchy with anyone. Kirin doesn't even know of it and would probably be the only one Nouva could open up to about it. It's not that he didn't trust the others, he just found it hard to open up. Kirin was slowly making it easier for Nouva without him even realizing. He found talking with her about minor problems easily. Maybe, just maybe, he could get this thing off his chest with her...
"Nervous about what?" He looked down to his Dragonite mate.
She looked around the city and then the gym as the others walked past them into it. "This fight we are about to have."
Nouva smiled. "Kirin, don't be. Though, she is arguably the toughest gym leader."
She smiled and mimicked his voice. "Don't give up! Believe in yourself!"
Nouva pouted. "Your impression is getting better." He huffed, puffing out his cheeks.
She giggled. "Thanks for the encouragement sweetie."
They walked in and Red and his Pokémon were puzzled by the light on the floor.
"What does this do?" Voltaro slowly stood up to it. He placed his foot on it and glowed white for a second. "Whoa!" He screamed as his voice echoed. He vanished before his voice faded.
Everyone's jaws dropped, and there was a long silence before Red spoke. "Well, guess we have to use this". They all followed one by one and as they reached the next room there was four lights on the floor.
"C'mon, are we really doing this! I hate teleporting puzzles!" Voltaro crossed his arms.
"Well, only one way to find out which one is the right one!" Kirin beamed. She walked forward to the second one and disappeared. Nouva followed behind her as did everyone else. It took some trial and error but eventually they all made it to Sabrina.
"I have been waiting for you trainer! I foresaw your coming here!"
Red pointed to himself. "Me?"
She nodded. "I had a vision of our battle, though not the conclusion of it."
Red scratched his head but then asks "Well, if I did win in your vision would you give me the badge?"
"Would you accept it If I gave it to you?"
Red turned his hat, "Nah, I'd want to put in the work for it!"
She smiled. "I knew you'd say that! Send out your first Pokémon!"
"Voltaro! Go!"
He saluted "You got it boss!" Alright, send out your pokemon!" He roared... even though Sabrina didn't understand him.
Sabrina sent out an Abra. Voltaro just laughed.
"What is the Abra gonna do? Teleport me to death!?"
Sabrina ordered Abra to use flash. The Pokémon let out a bright light and Voltaro screamed "Bakana! I'm blind! I'm blind!" He dramatically clasped his hands over his eyes.
Everyone facepalmed.
"Voltaro, it's not that bad you can still see" Nouva sighed.
He blinked and growled. "I will not get hit by that again!"
Red cracked his knuckles "Voltaro! Use Quick Attack!"
Voltaro rushed forward. "Check out my speed now!" He yelled.
But when he was about to hit Abra, it teleported. "NANI!" Voltaro gasped. He tried to Quick Attack again but the same happened again. Abra kept teleporting, making his many Quick Attacks miss.
Voltaro started tapping his foot against the ground. "How the hell am I supposed to hit him!?"
Kirin noticed something. "You think 'cause of Flash lowering his accuracy, he can't land a hit on Abra?"
Quina nodded. "It was smart to use that. I swear one accuracy drop and you can't hit anything, yet your opponent can."
Queenie agreed. "Amen, they always land low accuracy moves when you can't."
"I hate Zubat for that particularly." Nouva added.
"Hmm, Abra likes to teleport behind Voltaro, so..."
Voltaro tried once again but as soon as the Abra teleported...
"Voltaro! Grab Abra with your tail!"
He managed to catch it, catching the Abra off gaurd.
Red pointed. "Thunderbolt!"
Electricity sparked from Voltaro damaging the Abra, knocking it out.
"Booyah!" He did a victory dance.
"Not bad! Go Mr. Mime!" Sabrina threw the Pokéball with her psychic powers.
"MIME!"
Voltaro started shadowboxing, "Oh yeah, c'mon you ain't nothing!"
"Voltaro! Quick Attack!"
Voltaro charged forward but before he reached Mr. Mime...
"Barrier!" Sabrina calls out.
Voltaro hits an invisible wall and his face is stuck to it. He tries to pull it away while the others are laughing from the bleachers.
"Gah!" He gasps, finally freeing his face from the invisible wall.
Mr. Mime just pulled an eyelid down sticking his tongue out at Voltaro.
Voltaro's forehead grew veins. "You little!"
Red yelled. "Voltaro! Focus!"
Voltaro pats his cheeks. "Alrighty!"
Red smirks. "Alright use Thief!"
Voltaro rushed forward and Sabrina telepathically tells Mr. Mime, "Psychic."
Voltaro roars but then stops and looks around. He then realized he's not moving.
"Eh?"
Before he could do anything else he was flung around, slammed into the walls and then into the ground. He laid on the ground now fainted.
"To be honest, I thought he actually had that one." Nouva said scratching his head.
"I think he did amazing." Lazuli grinned.
"Lazuli!" Red called.
Lazuli jumped over to the battlefield. She winked at Voltaro causing him to blush. "Wish me luck Voltaro!" She waved.
"Mr. Mime! Use Thunderbolt!"
Before the electricity hit, Red called out, "Grab it with Psychic!"
She grabbed the electricity with her psychic energy and started tossing it back, startling the Mr. Mime.
"Don't waver! Use Shadow Ball!" Sabrina said.
The Shadow Ball hit and she slid backwards.
Red commanded, "Use Surf!"
She created a giant wave and was surfing on it.
The giant wave hits Mr. Mime. As Mime surfaces, he is met with a grinning Lapras in his face.
"Ice Beam!" Red ordered throwing his hand up.
She point blank blasts the ice into Mr. Mime and he falls below the water. She looks on as the water filled up the gym.
"Screw this!" said Nouva. He went up the bleachers pressing his back against the wall. Red ran up the other set of bleachers as he got a bad feeling about this. Sabrina just floated up with her telekinetic powers.
The water started to glow...
"Thunderbolt!" Sabrina shouted.
Before Lazuli or Red could react, she was hit with electricity from the water she was in. She winced from the pain, and is now paralyzed.
Mr. Mime rises from the water and awaits Sabrina's orders.
"Don't worry Lazuli, use Psychic on the water to compress it!"
Lazuli took the water that surrounded them and compressed it.
Sabrina held a stoic face albeit impressed at the commands. She then shifts focus and orders Mr. Mime to use Thunderbolt again.
Red saw this and then ordered, "Lazuli! Use the water to make a shield around you!"
She was able to block the Thunderbolt since she wasn't making contact with the water she was holding.
"Not a bad strategy from our trainer!" Kirin gasped.
Nouva sat back down by Kirin, now that the water has died down. "Well, at least that water is away from me." He sighed with a breath of relief.
"Lazuli, try to keep the water shield around you! Close the distance and use Ice Beam!"
"Take away that shield with your Psychic!"
Mr. Mime obeyed. He was struggling to take away the water but was able to disperse it, making Nouva and even Queenie take cover. It was too late as Lazuli closed distance.
But before she could use Ice Beam, she stopped and her body sparked from paralysis.
"Finish it with Thunderbolt!"
Mr. Mime jolted Lazuli causing her to faint.
"Damn... Almost had it!" Red muttered. Sabrina removed the water to outside so that the battlefield wasn't flooded. "Send out your final Pokemon!"
Red, after walking to Lazuli and patted her head, turned to his team...
Kirin braced herself, squeezing Nouva's hand.
"Quina!"
The Snorlax slowly walked to the battlefield. "It's go time!"
Lazuli slumped next to the others. "Dammit! If only I didn't get paralyzed." She slumped and leaned against Voltaro winking at him.
"Alright Quina! Use Shadow Ball!"
"Counter with your own Shadow Ball!"
Both Shadow Balls collide, resulting in smoke.
"Quina! Headbutt!"
Quina rushed forward at a surprising speed and headbutted Mr. Mime into the wall, cracking it and causing Mr. Mime to faint.
Quina smacked his belly with both hands. "This will be the utmost, toughest opponent that comes out. Whatever happens in this battle will help me improve!"
"That was fast." Queenie clapped.
"Well, Lazuli did weaken Mr. Mime a fair bit." Nouva said with a stoic face. He then said with a deadpan "Quina hits like a damn truck."
"Alakazam, go!"
"KAZAM!" The yellow psychic Pokémon yelled.
Quina bowed. "May we have a good battle!"
The Alakazam nodded. "Indeed!"
"Alakazam! Shock Wave!"
Alakazam swung both of his spoons forward releasing a shockwave and Quina tanks the hit.
"Quina! Earthquake!"
The ground shook, damaging Alakazam.
Sabrina broke her stoic face and grinned. "Alakazam! Calm Mind!"
Kirin tilted her head. "Calm Mind?"
"It raises Special Sttack and Special Defense" Queenie said.
"Soooo like a alternate Bulk Up?"
Nouva nodded. "Yeah, this is good for special attackers"
Alakazam started to focus by meditating.
"Oh no! That's a bad idea! Quina don't let him do it!" Voltaro called out.
"Quina! Shadow Ball!"
Quina fired the Shadow ball and Alakazam dodged it, closing in on Quina.
Red thought for a moment. "Hmm, I'll need to get Alakazam close to Quina. Alakazam may be faster, but it's not good with defense!"
"Quina don't move!" Red yelled.
Quina did as he was told by Red as he trusted him.
Alakazam got close and was about to use Psychic when Quina grabbed him.
"Body Slam!" Red raised his hand.
Quina belly flopped onto Alakazam paralyzing him.
"Now that its speed has been cut down, follow up with Shadow Ball!"
Quina spewed the shadow mass from his mouth upon Alakazam.
Alakazam flew backwards but recovered with its psychic energy.
"Alakazam! Use Shock Wave."
Quina, with its sheer defense, ran through the electricity and grabbed the Alakazam.
"Alright then! Use Headbutt!"
Quina headbutted the Alakazam multiple times, causing the Psychic Pokémon to lay on the ground, struggling to get up.
Sabrina smiled. "Alright trainer, you win!"
Red scratched his head in confusion as Sabrina returned her Pokémon. "I can already tell that the Snorlax is stronger than my Alakazam. I present to you this badge."
Red walked up and claimed it with Quina, giving a peace sign.
"That was a good battle, trainer. I forsee that you will become a promising trainer!" Sabrina closes her eyes.
"Oh, uh, thanks!" Red scratched the back of his head.
With that, Red and his team left the gym and headed to the Pokémon center.
Kirin looked up to the sky. "I was kinda hoping I got to battle." She sighed.
"Well, weren't you nervous?" Nouva eyed her.
"Well, yeah! But I was actually excited!"
Nouva chuckled.
"What's so funny!?" She pouted.
He snickered. "Well, it's about time you looked forward to a battle instead of fearing one."
She playfully smacked him, much to the amusement of the others.
They all headed inside the Pokémon Center and await the next day.
So about Quina, hes basically the strongest on the team and is one of those pokemon that are just strong in a funny way. To where he can overpower alot of opponents without trying. So forgive me for a lackluster end for this gym battle. But, hopefully everything else was good!
