Chapter 27: There are Consequences to Actions(Part 1)(Keith's POV)
"Keith, just wait for your mother to come home and everything will be alright," his dad speaks, holding his dagger. Keith looks outside and sees the Galra still attacking, with his friends( all his teammates in Voltron, Adrien, Kagami, Chloe(Honeybee), Chat Noir, Ryuko, and Renarde Rouge,) fending off the hoard with all their might.
But this also has a feeling of Deja vu, put he can't place his finger on it.
"Sorry dad, but my friends need my help," He holds his arm up with his panja bracelet and opens his mouth to say the words, but his father interrupts, "Wouldn't you rather know who birthed you? So that way your identity is clear to you? Son don't suffer with this buried identity struggle,"
Keith's breath hitches, "I gave that up a long time ago."
"Then why whenever you're alone you pull out that dagger and stare into it for however long you can. Just stay and everything will be cleared."
"I'm sorry but I can't, they need me."
He turns to leave his old home, just as his hand reaches the doorknob he looks back and says, "Goodbye Dad," but instead of his dad saying something that makes sense his words come out as, "Wake up Keith! Wake up!"
His eyes snap open and he immediately sits up. Looking to the side of his bed that isn't the wall side, he sees Natalie, worry in her eyes.
"You're awake thank goodness. I wasn't sure if I could get you up, with you looking so troubled."
Blearily, he rubs his eyes, "What time is it?" Essentially not mentioning his dream, since he doesn't want to trouble poor Natalie any further.
Natalie shakes her head, "That doesn't matter. What matters is that Child Services has come to take you and Adrien away from Gabriel."
Because he's tired Keith doesn't fully register what Natalie said. He only nods. Yawning he gets out of bed and Natalie leads him out of his and Adrien's room. Outside are a couple of child service officers.
"So you're Keith, a cousin of Agreste's, correct?" a woman asks. He nods, wondering why someone should have to confirm such a thing. Then again that was a lie he fabricated.
"Just had to make sure. Madame, thank you for your help. We're taking Keith to the Dupain-chengs until we get this cleared up. And don't worry we'll find Adrien and let him know Gabriel can't touch him."
"Thanks, do you know if…."
"The Dupain-chengs say they're willing to take the two of them in. And it's for the best since we can't find any of Keith's closest relatives and Adrien's closest relative lives in England and with the trauma my team and I have decided moving to a new country wouldn't help."
"Thanks."
The woman smiles, "No problem. Come on Keith, I'll drive you to the Dupain-chengs while my team gets your and Adrien's things."
With a reassuring nod from Natalie, Keith goes with the woman. He still doesn't quite understand the situation, his mind still lacking sleep. However he does hear some shouting from another room.
Gabriel's POV
"What?!" Gabriel cries. These Child Service people had come into his home at an ungodly hour on Christmas. And just now he's hearing why they came. "My punishments for Adrien's behavior were perfectly justified! You have no right to take him away from me!"
"Monsieur with all due respect, among your punishments that is not the only reason we're taking Keith and Adrien from your care. You have left Adrien isolated for most of his life, and you barely have time for him. According to your assistant who we interviewed upon seeing the video an anonymous person sent us. So not only have you been abusing your child with harsh punishments and loneliness, you have been neglecting to spend time with him ..."
"Preposterous! I have been busy with my company and I will certainly not have you take Monsieur Kogane or my perfect son away from me!" Gabriel shouts, seething with rage.
"You're using that as an excuse to get away with not seeing your child. Unfortunately the person who left us the video did not press charges only asked that the children be taken away from you. So you're not going to jail like you should. However, that does not mean you can have contact with them. Under any circumstances."
"He is my son! It is my right to see him whenever I want!"
"No it is not. You forfeited Adrien's right to be your son the moment you started abusing him. And if you even get so close as ten meters to Adrien or Keith, first warning is a fine, second warning the fine is doubled, third and you're going to jail. Good day, Monsieur Agreste."
Gabriel slumps back into his chair. How dare they! How dare that anonymous person! Everything was going swimmingly until they came. He takes a picture of Emile off his desk and stares at it.
"Those good for nothing Child Service people took away our son when they have no right too. I swear Emile that once I get Chat Noir's miraculous and then eventually Ladybug's I will rewrite the world so that we can be together, as a happy family." He puts down her picture and grasps the butterfly miraculous.
In wrath, Gabriel vows, Chat Noir, Marmora, Honeybee, Ryuko, Renarde Rouge and Ladybug, I will get your miraculouses if it's the last thing I do! And I will get Emilie and Adrien back so we can be a happy family once more. A united family, a perfect fairytale family, where nothing can break us apart, not even death itself!
Author's Note: Sorry for the short chapter, but I wanted to go over the little bit of what finally happened, as other chapters will be focusing on how Adrien and Keith and others are dealing with this huge change(this will also change how future episodes pan out as I changed the cannon hugely).
