Q: Will Gohan be like Daredevil?

A: I'm going to try to keep Gohan's lack of sight as realistic as possible, within reason. He may have some Daredevil characteristics, but he's not based on Daredevil, just himself without vision.

Chapter 3

Cloud forest

Canopies shook back and forth, dropping leaves noiselessly to the ground, as several beings jumped from branch to branch, exchanging blows. Three green men were surrounding a boy. They attacked from all directions, yet each fist met an arm, and each foot was thrown away. The boy in the middle had his eyes screwed tightly closed in concentration, reacting evenly to the threats from in front of him, as the ones behind. A low jab snaked through Gohan's guard, and he lets it send him off the branch he stood upon and down to the jungle floor. Exhausting what little energy he had left, he stopped his fall before impact. A foot from above didn't care about the energy Gohan was putting out as it quickly put him several feet deep into the ground.

The other two Piccolos landed beside the shallow grave and quickly rejoin into one being. Reaching in, he picked the nearly-unconscious boy out of the shallow grave and effortlessly tosses him to the base of a tree, where he struggled back to his feet.

"More." Gohan widened his stance before slowly leaping at his teacher. Energy blazing around him.

Piccolo, also exhausted, kept to the ground but blocked the boys charge. Taking advantage of his longer reach Piccolo lashed out at Gohan, forcing him backwards. Keeping up the offensive, Piccolo continued hammering Gohan's defenses. Kick at knee, punch at nose, blast at chest, kick at stomach, punch at ear, blast to feet, kick to knee, and on and on and on. Gohan could tell that Piccolo wasn't even close to his full power at this point, but neither was he. But without powering up, he couldn't keep this up for much longer.

Gohan began struggling to keep up his guard, not finding a chance to counterattack.

'His right arm stopped attacking, I must be wearing him out more than I thought.' was Gohan's first thought after Piccolos attack began to slow. This was quickly followed by language that his mother would have wept at hearing him say.

Yanked backwards by Piccolos extended arm, Gohan was knocked off balance. With a few quick kicks, his body went into the air, and with a sideways ax handle smash he was sent flying. His body broke through a tree, sending birds flying, before sliding through dirt, over rock, and into nothing.

Roaring filled his ears, he was being pulled down freely. Extending his energy again, Gohan tried to fly, but he couldn't focus enough, he hadn't practiced enough. A limb pierced his aura and Gohan reached for it. The rough bark ripped his skin as his body came around under him. Reaching his other hand up, Gohan secured himself to the branch, but he knew he couldn't climb out of here. "Mr. Piccolo. Please help Mr. Piccolo. I fell down here."

Looking over the edge of the cliff Piccolo saw the boy, barely hanging on to the branch. His leg struggled to find a grip on the cliffs edge, but it was too smooth from eons of flooding. "Get back up here, Gohan. We're not done training yet."

"I can't, Mr. Piccolo. I'm too low on energy to fly." He fibbed.

"The Saiyans won't stop just because you're tired, and neither will the river. Either you get up here and continue the fight, or you go down there, and we'll see how you fair against someone that really doesn't care how weak you are." Piccolo sat, cross-legged, over Gohan.

"But Mr. Piccolo..." Gohan stopped midsentence as he felt his branch bend straight down, he heard a loud snap, and he felt the heat of a blast go right by his hands. "Oh crap!"

King Kai's planet

"What did the farmer say when he lost his tractor?" Goku asked the round blue god.

"I don't know, what did the farmer say when he lost his tractor?" King Kai responded.

"Where's my tractor?" Goku cracked himself up. Bubbles the monkey began to dance, and King Kai looked disappointed.

"No, no, it has to be funny, Goku. that will never work."

Back on Earth

The roar grew louder before vanishing. Weighed down, sweat-soaked, his clothing became even heavier as Gohan fell into the water.

A second collision, hard and tearing, the riverbed. Gohan's shirt tugged against the current.

'Stuck.' Gohan quickly ripped the fabric, disregarding his shirt. Being yanked along the bottom by the overwhelming power of the river, Gohan couldn't get his feet under him.

'Time.' Gohan impacted a rock, and while the water was trying to hold him still against it, he at least wasn't being forced to move. Fighting the water he peeled off one wristband, and then the other. The weights quickly drop away, greatly increasing his mobility.

With the use of his hands, Gohan was able to pull his knees towards his chest, against the water. With a small energy blast, Gohan cut through the laces of first one boot, then the other, and his feet gained the same freedom of his hands.

Turning around, Gohan had to fight to keep his face from being erased by the force of the water and the drag of his body up the rock.

'Air." Gohan found many handholds against his prison, but their strength was minimal.

Rocks he pulled on fell free and vanished in to the current. Roots he grabbed brought wood in behind him, smashing him into the rock. Flashing his aura to life, the cold bite of the water vanished. He still couldn't breathe, but at least now he was warm. Giving up on climbing, Gohan crawled along the boulder before quickly being taken downstream by the current once his body passed the protection of his rock.

With nothing threatening to tear into him, for the moment, Gohan kicked with all his remaining energy, breaching the surface of the river. Crossing his arms he laid on his back, hoping to kick off of anything he may get thrown in to.

Rocks littered the river ahead of him. With a lot of ankle pain, torn sides, and a bloodied back, Gohan was able to clear the rapids before washing up on the riverbank.

"If those were the Saiyans, you'd be dead." Piccolo landed beside the boy, grabbing his wrist, and dragging him completely out of the water. "You're still not there. If you got angry, instead of scared, I know you could have escaped the river. You have the power, but you need to tap into it. Stop relying on others. Stop assuming you're safe."

Back on King Kai's planet

"Okay, I've got a joke for you." Reaching back, Goku scratched his neck and laughed.

"Alright, let's hear it." King Kai smiled broadly, chuckling to himself.

"How do you weigh a fish?" Goku asked.

Opening his mouth King Kai paused.

"Uh." Putting his hand to his chin he looked pensive. "Hmm."

"By the scale!" Goku declared.

"Ha, ha-ha, I get it." King Kai began laughing. Grabbing his stomach, and squealing like a pig, the god of the northern galaxy couldn't control himself. Falling to the ground he rolled on his back.

A few breaths later, King Kai was starting to calm down. Coming to a stop at the feet of his monkey, Bubbles looked at his master, confusedly tilting his head. This caused King Kai to start anew.

"Uh, I guess I pass." Goku laughed, and tried to high-five Bubbles.

Bubbles raised his hand, but at the last minute dodge the high-five.

Getting to his feet King Kai had to fight to compose himself.

"Yes." King Kai said in between his remaining snickers. "You passed. Now, your first task is to catch Bubbles. It was very rude for him to leave you hanging, and I think he needs to be punished."

"Alright!" Goku squared off with Bubbles.

Fainting left he jumped right, fingertips brushing against the soft brown fur, but slipping right off. Goku caught himself falling towards the ground. It's hard, but he he got back up again. He wasn't breathing hard yet, but he would be soon.

Bubbles turned his back to Goku once more, waving his tail in the Saiyans direction, he began walking off. With the way he strutted, one would not be thought less of for considering him more peacock than monkey.

"Hey, get back here. Bubbles, I'm going to spank you!" Goku picked one foot up at a time and set off after the monkey.

Whenever Goku would get close, Bubbles would take a few long strides and regain a lead. Things continued in this manner for an uncounted number of moments. Goku adapted to the gravity of the planet and became able to walk, as a human would on Earth. In more moments he began to run, and now Bubbles had to actually evade his pursuer.

Sitting atop the small tree, Bubbles laid back, chewing a curiously existent banana.

"Hey, come on, sharing is caring!" Goku jumped at the tree, more at the fruit than anything.

Barely making it a foot off the ground he instead grabbed the branch and pulled himself off the ground.

Looking down Bubbles dropped the peal on Goku's head.

Goku picked the peal up and threw it aside. Pulling himself up again he got his elbows on the branch. Bubbles was distracted, pretending clouds were making interesting shapes over his head. He didn't notice as Goku stood on the branch he was working out on, and reached to the next one.

Drool began falling from Bubbles mouth as he began to snore.

Taking his chance Goku pulled himself up over the next branch, and squatted down on it. Balancing, one hand on the trunk, another in the air, Goku reached up, approaching the tip of the monkeys tail. As Goku reached, and began closing his fist, the tail retracted. Bubbles stood, danced atop the tree, and jumped down to the beautiful lawn below.

Following his lead Goku followed, barely a foot behind the running monkey, and staying there constantly.

"I'm going to get you this time, Bubbles!" Goku teased, putting on speed as his prey looked back at him, sticking out his tongue at the Saiyan.

Flying through the air, Bubbles went headfirst into the tree. Before he could fall Goku wrapped his arms around him, stopping him from hitting the ground. With a quick swat Goku completed his first task.

Middle of nowhere, Earth

Three Piccolos stood around Gohan. From behind, one aimed a punch at Gohan's head. Sensing it, the boy grabbed the fist and tripped the far larger warrior into falling on to himself.

The third Piccolo kicked at Gohan's ribs, but the boy blocked the assault with his arm before getting right up to Piccolo's body. Wrapping one leg behind Piccolo's, Gohan forced him forward and on to the ground. Taking advantage of the high ground, Gohan allowed himself to fall ontop of him.

Grabbing one of his arms, Gohan used his free hand to charge a blast.

The Piccolo who punched at his head grabbed Gohan's tail and squeezed it. Flinching, Gohan released his grip on the Piccolo's arm, and swung his energy blast into the tail-grabber's face. Air rushed away as the smell of smoke filled the air. Gohan jumped off his downed teacher and got his back to a tree. Threw the dust, the third Piccolo charged him.

Fists, elbows, knees, feet, and anything else of notable density was thrown in the brawl, and an equal number of blows land on each combatant. This remains true as the second Piccolo enters the meatgrinder, and even when the original does as well. Gohan was dealing just as much damage as he is taking, however he was doing so against three enemies, each only a third as powerful as the demon king himself.

Over the tail end of Snake Way.

"Wow! That was probably the quickest I've ever seen someone do that." King Kai looked impressed as Goku brought Bubbles to him. Jumping on to his masters shoulder Bubbles rubbed his butt.

"Really? It feels like it's been ages. How long have I been here, altogether?"

"How long have I been here." King Kai repeated, in chorus with a new voice. "Oh ,there you are."

"Huh?" Goku looked around, confused as to who King Kai was speaking to.

"I'm down here." A pudgy green man was hopping up and down between Goku and King Kai. Jumping several times his height, he was able to get in front of Goku's face.

"Goku, this is Gregory. Gregory, this is Goku."

"Pleasure to meet you, Goku." Gregory stopped jumping, choosing instead to hover in place in front of the Saiyan.

"Hi, same to you. What are you?"

"Gregory is a grasshopper," King Kai reached behind his back, "Your next challenge will be to hit him in the head, with this." King Kai pulled a hammer out from behind his back. Made of a deep red wood and matte black metal, the hammer looked simple yet incredibly well-crafted. Grabbing it by the head King Kai extended it out to Goku.

When Goku had gripped the handle the head was released by King Kai. Gravity, as it does, pulled the hammer down. Goku, also having mass, was quickly pulled down behind it.

"Sorry, it's a little heavy. Now, have fun." King Kai snickered and walked over to his garden. Producing a watering can, he began tending to the plants. 'I don't know if he'll be able to beat the Saiyans when they appear. But with the Kaio-Ken, he should stand a pretty good chance.'

Ignoring the sounds of cracking concrete and steel against steel, King Kai continued his project. Any damage caused in this training would produce more projects for King Kai to fill his time with.

Kami's Lookout: Earth

The hollow knocking of wood on stone echoed through the corridors of the floating palace. Kami, followed by Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu, walked down the hall. Mr. Popo was behind the group.

Entering a cylindrical room, the group stopped beside a ring.

"Where are we?" Krillin asked. Looking around he saw that a dozen clocks covered the walls of the round room, and a large pendulum is swinging from the center of the ceiling. Under the pendulum was another clock face, but no hands, only dashes in place of numbers.

"This is the room of time," Kami spreads his arms, "We will use it to transport you to previous battles, so you may train not just against each other, but warriors that you will have never seen before."

"Please, enter the circle." Mr. Popo gestured towards the center clock face.

A bronze ring surrounded an ivory white dish. Twelve onyx inlays were equally spaced around the circumference, and in the middle a dry silver fountain sprung forth. Without hesitation Krillin, Tien, Yamcha and Chiaotzu stepped into the circle. Each fighter felt stability as they entered. The rigidly punctuated chimes were in perfect unison, the weight overhead swung with each tick and each tock.

Mr. Popo instructed the warriors to space themselves evenly around the circle, and to assume a meditative stance. When they were all seated, eyes closed and focused, a clap filled the air and the clocks fell silent.

Who knows where?

When they stopped hearing the clocks, the gang opened their eyes. Surrounded by darkness it took a moment for them to get oriented. Burning buildings and skeletal remains were almost all the eye could focus upon. As they stood up, they realized their pants and shoes stuck to the ground, due to the river of blood the street had turned in to.

The main thing, or things, that caught their attention however were a pair of men. Standing atop a burning skyscraper they looked down on the earthlings. One was short and round with a bald head, the other tall and muscle bound with a wide scar down the side of his face. Both wore a furry brown tail around their waist.

"Oh ho ho, look at what we have here, Brocco." The short one cracked his neck, sneering down at the ground.

"Looks like we missed them on our first go around, Panpukin. Let's get this over with so we can go eat."

"Well, that one sounds like Goku, alright." Yamcha prepared to fight. "I don't think this will be a friendly spar though."

Before anyone could react, the pair of Saiyans were on them. Brocco grabbed Chiaotzu by the leg and used him as a club to bombard Tien in a flurry of blows.

Panpukin attempted to do the same with Krillin, however the bald monk was able to use a disc of ki to remove the Saiyans hand. Yamcha attempted to follow this up with a Spirit Ball, but Brocco simply took the blow on his stump and didn't react.

When Chiaotzu's body was nothing more than a bloody mess of bone and torn flesh, Panpukin through him aside. Due to the repeated bludgeoning, his neck gave way and his head rolled away from his corpse. 'Huh, didn't see that happening."

Tien lied on the ground, at his full reach he could barely not touch his fallen partner. "No."

"No? What, you didn't expect this?" Panpukin walked to Tiens' prone body. "You want to be near him? I can make that happen."

Picking up the head of his first victim, he spiked it into Tien, leaving both heads nothing more than a pulp.

Brocco wasn't too far behind. After using Krillin's own technique to disarm, and disleg him, he began picking apart Yamcha. "I expected more of a challenge. I guess that's what I get for putting faith in weaklings like you." With the experience of a master, Brocco began launching beams from his fingers, and quickly used them to transform Yamcha from a mostly-intact body, to something more similar to a bowling ball, then cheese, and finally a puddle.

Pendulum Room

Panting, the four warriors fell backwards, still in the ring. They starfished, keeping their eyes closed, enjoying the sensation of not being brutally pealed like meat bananas, and pulled apart like bone Legos.

In the darkness and solitude provided by their eyelids. 'Thank Kami I have those back.'

They saw two spheres appear. Gradually they brightened into a pair of shining globes. A red line formed below them. Splitting in to two the line spoke "Welcome back."

The fighters eyes snapped open and they began screaming, the fighters, and every cell in their bodies.

"How was it?" Kami stood outside the circle, observing the four humans. Their entire bodies were drenched in sweat, their eyes were blood shot, and their hands wouldn't stop shaking. "Did you learn anything?"

"It was… hell." Yamcha struggled to speak. "I have never seen, and couldn't imagine, the brutality of those… those devils."

"Your bodies will not be hurt, so let's try it again." Mr. Popo stepped up. Before the group could protest he clapped his hands and their bodies fell slack once more.

King Kai's planet

"SPIRIT BOMB!" Goku shouted while flicking his wrist. A bright white ball of energy flew from his hand and impacted the armored chest of a Saiyan. A fraction of a percent of a part of a second passed, and the Saiyan erupted in a cloud of spiritual mist.

"Good, good." King Kai applauded. "The Spirit Bomb didn't have any influence on you, and you were able to create one while in combat. Remember though, this attack draws no power from you. Instead, it draws from the life energy around you. I don't think I need to tell you how much damage you could do to your planet by using it there. So please, be careful."

Back in non-literal hell…

Hovering, Tien looked down over the battlefield. Panpukin was enjoying himself at the expense of Yamcha. Chiaotzu was nursing his broken legs, and Krillin was smeared across a mile long stretch of nearby highway. Brocco was enjoying practicing the bongo with Krillin's head, using his drumsticks as drumsticks.

"Dodon Ray!" Tien pointed a beam of energy at Brocco, and it pierced the monsters spherical shield, and into his chest.

"Hey, I was still playing with that." Brocco abandoned the blood bath and faced off with Tien.

Tien brought his hands to his face.

"Solar Flare!" A blinding white light appeared in the sky, getting the attention of Panpukin, and completely disorienting Brocco.

Forming a triangle over his head Tien began diving towards the other Saiyan. Panpukin summoned his aura and took off, attempting to knock Tien aside, protecting his cohort.

"Tri…" Tien focused his energy into his hands. The ki-blinded Brocco did not take note.

"Beam…" A spark of energy formed in the palms of Tien's hands, Panpukin has nearly made contact. Leading with a ki-infused hand, Panpukin prepared to punch right through the attacker.

"HA!" the energy blast roared and expanded out of Tien's hands. As it covered Brocco, disintegrating him where he stood, Tien felt the sharp pain of penetration in his chest. Looking down he saw the stomach of Panpukin, as the rest of his body had already began exiting his back.

Kami House

"Ring ring, ring ring."

Startled, Roshi and Bulma jumped from their chairs.

"Did you hear that?" Bulma stuttered.

"Yeah, it sounded like Goku." Roshi looked around. Oolong and the turtle were outside, and other than that and Bulma the island seemed to be empty. "Goku?"

"Yeah, hey guys, it's me! Can you hear me?" Goku loudly spoke into their minds.

"Yes, we can hear you. You don't need to shout, I think." Bulma released some of her tension. "Where are you?"

Goku quieted down.

"I'm still in the other world, on King Kai's planet. I've learned all I can for now, and it's time to wish me back."

While he was no longer yelling, Goku's excitement was palpable.

"You're done? How strong are you? Can you beat the Saiyans?" Roshi retook his seat. Looking around he didn't quite know what to do with his eyes. He couldn't see Goku, so he settled on looking at Bulma, well, parts of her.

"Yes, fairly, and don't know yet." Goku answered. "I know you've all been training though, so it doesn't matter if I can, because we will."

"That's my boy." 'Wait, was I supposed to train too?' "We'll summon Shenron immediately."

Pendulum Room

Chiaotzu floated in front of Krillin, hands open, glowing blue. The two Saiyans, also glowing, were in front of him, locked in combat with Tien and Yamcha.

Concentrating, Krillin flowed his hands, directing two spinning discs of energy. Panpukin ducked left, dodging one, met by a powerful blow from Yamcha. Brocco, being slower, wasn't able to evade Krillin's sneak attack, and lost his same hand yet again.

Fed up with the interference, Panpukin broke free of the brawl and prepared an energy ball. As he threw it at Krillin, Tien appeared in front of him, an attack of his own at the ready. Panpukin's attack went sideways, as Tien's sent Panpukin to the ground with a hole in his chest.

Chiaotzu released his hold on the dead Saiyan and doubled his efforts on Brocco. The assault slowed even further, and now Yamcha dove into the fight, who was able to take the advantage. Fainting a step back, Brocco followed, to be thrown off his feet by a quick leg sweep.

Yamcha's hands glowed with power as he released a barrage of sharp punches into his floating enemy.

"Wolf Fang Fist!" he yelled as he delivered a finishing blow into the devil, crushing his windpipe.

Chiaotzu, seeing both enemies defeated, allowed his glow to vanish and settled on to the ground.

"We did it. We actually did it." He smiled. "We beat the Saiyans! We really did improve!"

Rushing towards the musclebound man, Chiaotzu wrapped Tien in a hug. Well, he tried, his arms barely stretched across his chest.

"You were incredible." Tien returned the hug in kind. "We couldn't have done it without you holding them back. You too, Krillin, great job keeping them off guard."

Yamcha walked towards his friends, but stopped when he saw a shadow in nearby flames.

Krillin, following Yamcha's gaze, retook a fighting stance.

"Congratulations, you were able to kill two immature Second-Class warriors." a voice called from the building. "If that was me, I would have had to actually raise my hand. Like this. Execution Beam!"

The shadows hand began to glow purple, revealing sharp facial features, covered in a cleanly trimmed black beard, under flame like hair.

Before Krillin and Yamcha finished processing this thought they had already been struck down by a pair of beams. As Tien and Chiaotzu were turning to see this new fighter, they were quickly struck down in the same way.

"Hmph, if those two could be killed by such weaklings, they were right to die." the figure formed a ball of energy in his right hand. "Push the attack, Saiyans. This planet will be ours!"

The man hurled the ball into the sky he gazed upon it, and began to grow.

Roshi's beach

"Rise, Eternal Dragon, by your name we summon you, Shenron!" Bulma threw her hands in the air over the 7 glowing Dragon Balls.

Thunder clapped overhead. Waves went from gentle licks at the sand to powerful strikes at the beach. The air around her and Roshi began to vibrate with energy as Turtle ran for the house. Lightning struck all around, yet rain refused to fall.

A beam of light erupted from the spheres and penetrated the darkness. The vertical beam began to be pulled in all directions as it soared into the air. The tip hooked around, diving through the eye of it's now spiraling source, and as it approached the Earth, its glow faded. Pure light gave way to green, smooth boundaries became defined scales, and the end split in two as a pair of large jaws became corporeal.

Wisps of facial hair dance as Shenron spoke. "What is your wish?"

Aw struck Bulma gained her wits. "Shenron, we wish-"

"For you to kill the Saiyans coming to Earth!" Oolong jumped in front of Bulma.

"Are you crazy? We only have a year to revive Goku. Plus if he's not here, who will defend us from the next threat?" Bulma pushed Oolong away, and kicks at him.

"Your wish is, denied. It is not in my power." Shenrons eyes glowed red. "My power is limited by the physical might of my creator, Kami."

"Bring Goku back to life, and bring him here!" Bulma shouted at the dragon, holding her hand over Oolong's mouth.

"Your wish is granted." Shenron's voice boomed over the summoned storm.

Looking down at the Dragon Balls he began to glow again. Returning to light his body followed him into the balls. Once it was completely absorbed, the balls launched into the air, before shooting off in different directions.

"Our first wish? The Saiyans were destroyed? Goku, Goku is stuck dead? What just happened?" Bulma sank to her knees. "What have you done, Oolong." Grabbing the legs of his shorts. "Why did you get in the way?"

"I didn't do anything. My wish was denied, but seeing as how Goku isn't here, I suppose Shenron took your wish as two. Goku was brought back to life, but he can't be brought here in the same wish."

King Kai's planet

Looking in a mirror Goku watched as his halo faded. "Hey, I'm alive again."

"Yes, now you must return to the Earth." King Kai stood behind him.

"Why didn't Shenron bring me home? When we revived Krillin and Chiaotzu in the past, they awoke on Earth."

"You don't have a physical body on Earth to return to. As it is here, you are here. This was a very unique circumstance. You see, normally when you die you just turn in to a ghost, and your body..." King Kai was cut off.

"Hey, great, thanks, but I need to get back to Earth before the Saiyans get there." Goku frantically looked around, as if a portal would appear.

"Fine, fine, run back down Snake Way, and Kami will be waiting there, I'll call him, and-" before King Kai could finish his sentence Goku had thanked him once more and leaped towards the upside-down tail in the sky. Reaching it, Goku righted himself, and King Kai watched as he vanished quickly down the road.

"As long as his other half lives, he'll be able to bring you back to Earth." King Kai finished.

Bubbles jumped on to his back.

"Really, Bubbles, why do I even try explaining these things."

"I find it interesting, sir." Gregory hovered beside Bubbles head.

150,000 miles over Earth

Two metal pods hovered in the void of space, moon behind them, Earth in front. Behind portholes, two men were being brought to Earth.

'Soon, immortality will be ours.' The smaller of the two thought.

'Raditz was weak, but no one kills a Saiyan and gets away with it.' The other, bald man, thought.
