Rey pulled a part off of an old star destroyer. She put it in her satchel and then used the rope to propel it to the ground. Her twin sister Breha, was waiting for her.
"It's getting late, let's go," said Breha. By the time they returned, it was getting dark. They did not have time to sell what they had scavenged, to Unkar Plutt.
"We will go first thing tomorrow morning," said Breha. Rey and Breha sat in the sand eating their supper. Rey stopped eating, she could have sworn she heard something.
"Did you hear that?" Rey asked Breha. Before Breha could respond, she heard it again. Rey stood up. A little orange and white droid rolled out from behind a piece of scrap metal.
"Where are you from?" Rey asked the droid. It beeped a response. "Classified, really… me too big secret." Rey pointed "Town's that way," she said. Rey turned to leave but the droid followed her. "Why are you following me?" The droid didn't answer her. "Alright you can stay with me but tomorrow you go."
"Where did you get the droid?" asked Breha, she felt like she had seen him somewhere before but couldn't quite remember where.
"I found him, he is only going to stay till tomorrow." said Rey. The Droid beeped
"He says his name is BB-8," said Rey.
"You can understand him!"
"I guess I can," said Rey. She had never spoken with a droid before. The sky had turned dark, so Rey and Breha went inside to bed. Their home was a half destroyed walker. When Rey woke up she put another mark on the wall beside her bed. The wall was marked with thousands of little white lines. As soon as the sun was up, Rey, Breha, and BB-8 went to town to see Unkar Plutt. They put the parts they had scavenged on the table and Unkar Plutt examined them. "I will give you one half portion," he said. Then he noticed the droid.
"I will give you eighty portions for that droid," said Unkar Plutt, dumping a pile of portions on the table. Rey started to gather the portions in her arms, then she changed her mind and took the half portion.
"The droid is not for sale." Rey and Breha turned to leave and Unkar Plutt angrily slammed the window closed. Rey and Breha were walking through the market when BB-8 started beeping. Rey took off running.
"Rey! Where are you going?" yelled Breha. Rey hit the man with her staff and he fell to the ground
"Thief!" she said. "This droid says you stole his master's jacket."
"I didn't steal it! I helped Poe escape, his name is Poe right? He… didn't make it." Finn hurriedly explained. BB-8 beeped sadly and rolled away.
"What's your name? My name's Rey."
"I'm Finn." Breha finally caught up with them.
"What's going on?" she asked.
"This is my sister Breha, Breha this is Finn, he is with the resistance." said Rey.
"I am? I mean yes, obviously."
Just then BB-8 started beeping loudly.
"What?" said Rey. A ship landed and stormtroopers spilled out. Finn grabbed Rey's hand and started running. Breha and BB-8 hurried after them. Things exploded around them and the stormtroopers tried to shoot them.
"We need a ship," said Rey motioning to one a couple yards away.
"That one is closer," said Finn
"That one is junk!" exclaimed Breha. The ship they were running to blew up and burst into flames.
"The junk will do," yelled Breha as they started running to the other ship. They ran up the ramp and into the cockpit. Rey sat down in the pilot chair and Breha sat beside her.
"Do you think this thing will fly?" said Breha.
"Ww are about to find out." Rey flipped a couple switches and a moment later the counsel lit up. The tarp flew off the ship as they lifted off the ground. They had barely gotten into the air when TIE fighters started chasing them.
"Go straight until you see the holo chess table then take a left, you will find a weapon system there." Rey instructed Finn, he nodded and hurried in that direction.
"How did you know that?" asked Breha. Rey thought for a moment, how did she know that?
"I don't know I just...knew," said Rey.
"Incoming!" yelled Breha as a TIE fighter started shooting at them.
"Try firing back!" Rey yelled to Finn.
"I AM!" Finn yelled back.
"Then try hitting something!" yelled Rey. Finn shot one out of the sky, then three more started shooting at them.
"I got one!" yelled Finn. Rey spotted the star destroyer they had been scavenging yesterday. She started flying towards it.
"What are you doing?" said Breha.
"I'm trying to get the TIE fighters off our tail," answered Rey, just as she took a sharp turn. She flew into the star destroyer.
"Put up the shields," instructed Rey. Without looking, Breha flipped a switch and the shields went up. The sides of the star destroyer were getting closer to them. Two TIE fighters crashed into the wall.
"Do you know what you're doing?" said Breha nervously.
"Let's hope so," said Rey.
"Uhm guys… we have a problem," said Finn. "The gun is stuck in the forward position." Rey turned and flew out of the star destroyer.
"Are you ready?" Rey yelled to Finn.
"Yes… for what?"
Rey turned the ship and let it fall. Finn quickly fired and shot the TIE fighter. Rey put the ship upright and flew away from Jakku into space.
