Chapter 28
Capsule Corp
Roughly 29.5 astronomical units south of Dr. Brief light was reflected off a disc like metallic craft and bounced back towards the center of the solar system. In a wide belt around the Earth and its moon an array of satellites detected the light, and directed news of its second discovery since installation back to Capsule Corp. When the signal reached Dr. Brief's lab his sterile white lights flashed red, his intercom buzzed, and his coffee hit the ground again.
Dr. Brief abandoned the space ship drawings on the smart board and took a seat at his computer. With a few familiar key strokes the alarms were deactivated. With a few more he was looking at a digital representation of what was detected, and it was not familiar. He'd need to take a further look after determining its time of arrival.
He switched menus, now showing the same map of the solar system as before. As he read the data he automatically adjusted for the biggest limiting factor in his tech, the speed of light. The craft was clearly on its way to Earth, and had already passed several planets on its approach. He switched back to the digital display and flicked through a wide spectrum of instruments. One craft this time, for certain, large, round, with protuberances evenly spaced around the outer shell.
Dr. Brief pressed one of several identical buttons at the bottom of a speaker mounted on his desk. "Tien? Please come to my lab, as quickly as you can. I need your input on, something, something critical and time sensitive." He released the button, and his message played throughout the complex.
A few moments later a voice responded. "I'll be right there." Followed by knocking on the reinforced metal door.
Dr. Brief hit a different button on his desk, and the door slid open. Tien walked in, dressed in his now standard lab coat, slacks, and button down shirt.
"What is it?" Tien asked.
"Another ship is approaching Earth." Dr. Brief said. "It doesn't look like these readings could be another Saiyan ship, so I'm hoping you may be able to recognize it, from your time in space." He returned to his computer and brought up several small windows, each displaying the ship, through a wide spectrum of means.
A shock of excitement shot down Tien's spine when he saw it. It hadn't taken nearly as much time as he had thought it might. He kept a careful expression on his face when he spoke, not wanting to display too much knowledge. "I, I think I've seen it before." He said. "I might be mistaken, but I get the feeling that's what Frieza's ship looked like." He had learned over the months, truth, even a half truth, was better than lying.
Dr. Brief patted his forehead with the sleeve of his coat. "I was afraid you would say that. He's on his way."
Tien stood motionless, watching the displays spinning on the monitor. He had learned quite a bit while working under this man, he felt he could orchestrate the creation of gravity chambers to train in, as well as incredibly powerful cybernetic enhancements for their men. He twitched his left hand. However, unless that woman was cooperating, which he doubted, Dr. Brief was still extremely useful, and he didn't think it was time to get rid of him yet. Worst case scenario, he could use him and the woman against each other, make them both cooperate under threat of losing the other.
"I'll raise the alarm." Dr. Brief said. "I can guess where they'll land, but until they're closer I won't be able to narrow it down. I'll keep you posted."
"I'll go get ready." Tien said. "How much time do we have?"
"Not long." Dr. Brief said as he picked up the phone and began dialing. "Yes, Krillen? … You feel them? … Tien thinks it may be Frieza … Yeah, please let him know. I'll call Loa and Turles."
East City
Krillen hit the big red button on his phone, and set it on his coffee table. His apartment was modestly appointed, consisting of a small bedroom, kitchenette, and living room, with a two person dining table under a window, looking over a busy street. Yamcha and Puar sat at the table, an empty bowl in front of Puar, and a full one in front of Yamcha.
"Who was that?" Yamcha asked.
"Dr. Brief." Krillen said while getting to his feet. "He confirmed what we thought. Someone is coming, and Tien thinks it's Frieza."
"The Frieza." Yamcha said, holding his stomach. "The one you told me about, the one you think may have been brought back. This, this is him? Coming to Earth?"
"Yeah. That's the one." Krillen answered while entering his room. "You're coming?"
"Do, do you think I'll be able to help?" Yamcha asked. "I mean, you, Turles, Piccolo, you're all so much stronger than I am."
"No, probably not." Krillen said while beginning to undress. "I don't think any of us stand a chance in this fight, not after what I felt on Namek, and what Turles has told us." He paused while he looked for his cleanest gi. "But, I'd rather be there and have the chance to help, then just let Frieza blow up Earth, ya know?"
"Yeah, I know." Yamcha said. Krillen heard his chair push back from the dining table, and the window open. "I still don't know if Kaio-Ken will be enough to help, but you're right. I'm going to get ready too. Puar?"
"I, I don't think I could help." Puar said. "I'm not really..."
"I meant, would you like to come with me, or wait here?" Yamcha asked.
"Oh, uh, I'll come with you, at least for now." Puar responded. Krillen didn't hear his chair get pushed back, but then again, the cat didn't need to move his chair anyway.
"We'll meet you wherever they land, okay?" Yamcha called to Krillen.
Krillen stepped out of his bedroom. His dressing gown was set out on his bed, and he was now wearing his standard orange gi and underclothes. "Mind if I tag along?" Krillen asked. 'I don't really think now is the time to split up."
"Of course." Yamcha said. "Ya ready?"
Krillen nodded, and one after the other the three left through the open window. Puar was the last out, and used her powers of transformation to make sure the exit was locked behind them, although, come to think of it, if someone managed to break in through the window, this high up, they earned whatever they could get out. Once the apartment was secure Puar got into place in Yamcha's shirt, and they were off.
Kami's Lookout
Piccolo and Loa sat between two rows of finely maintained trees. Both hovered over the ground, meditating on the other. They had been spending their time split between reaching out mentally to Namek, helping Chiaotzu with his psychic training, and working on their own image training.
Loa hadn't been taking her training seriously, not for her own improvement. She was happy to help the others, but saw no benefit in her working on her own power. Her defenses were already nearly perfect, and she didn't care to become anymore offensively capable than she already was. She could disable any of the Earthlings, or the Namekian, with little effort, and she couldn't foresee a circumstance where she'd need to, or be willing to, deal heavy damage herself.
Chiaotzu wasn't too far from the others. He was standing atop the lookout's temple, eyes, cheeks, and hands glowing blue. Sharing the radiant glow was a small army of gardening tools and watering cans. Once another guardian stepped forward and accepted the responsibilities, then they could bring Mr. Popo back, but until then, Chiaotzu had worked the others duties into his training routine.
As Chiaotzu worked he was distantly aware of a buzzing coming from within the temple itself. He stretched out another tendril of awareness and sent it inside. It worked quickly, following the noise, and tracking it to the quarters where Loa had been staying. Her phone was being charged, and Chiaotzu was surprised there was electricity up here. He grabbed the phone gently, and with great precision brought it swiftly to the exterior of the structure, and threw it at Loa's unmoving form.
Right before the phone impacted her, she snatched it out of the air, and had already swiped to answer. Piccolo fell from his perch in mid air to the ground. Sweat was pouring from his brow, and he struggled to catch his breath. Loa's offensive capabilities weren't that strong, she could probably never really hurt him, but her unique biology made her nearly impossible to fight, and he had still yet to find a way past her defenses. He had yet to be captured by her body as well, but he heard what happened to Zarbon and Dodoria, and despite what he did to Kami, he couldn't think of a much worse fate.
"Yo, you got Loa." She said into the phone, flashing a grin at her training partner. "Oh, uh-huh … Okay … When? … Where's he at?" Loa closed her eyes and rotated freely in space, eventually coming to a stop facing north, rotated 90 degrees from perpendicular with the platform. "Yeah, I feel him … Okay, we'll be there … Yeah, I've got Piccolo and Chiaotzu. Alrighty, peace and chicken grease." She ended the call.
"Peace and chicken grease?" Piccolo asked as he was able to catch his breath.
"It means goodbye." Loa said. "Anyway, bad news."
"What's that?" Chiaotzu called as he floated over, lowering his equipment to the ground.
"Dr. Brief called. He, and Tien, believe that Frieza is on his way to Earth." Loa said, running her fingers over her phone.
"When will he get here?" Piccolo asked.
"Soon." Loa said. "I can feel him getting close." She pointed over the horizon, and both Piccolo and Chiaotzu focused their attention in the indicated direction.
"Is, is that possible?" Piccolo asked. "I, I don't think we'll be able to stop that."
"We can't." Loa said. "There's no way we'll be able to stop him."
"Then we'll just have to stall him." Piccolo said. "I never thought I would say this, but I really hope Goku is on his way."
"Agreed." Loa said. "I don't know how we'll be able to, but, we'll need to come up with something. Once he's on Earth, nothing will stop him from just blowing it up."
"Should I go get the Senzu beans?" Chiaotzu said. "Korin probably has some ready."
"He doesn't." Piccolo said. "I spoke with him yesterday, they need another few days still. Right now all they'd do is taste like kelp."
"If we can't get any beans." Loa said. "Should we just head out?"
"Yes." Piccolo said. "Loa, I know you're tough, but, you and Chiaotzu need to stay behind me when the fighting starts. Okay?"
"Chiaotzu, listen to Piccolo. I won't." Loa crossed her arms as she righted her orientation. "Let's go."
Chiaotzu crossed his fingers in his pocket and nodded.
Capsule Corp
Tien hung his lab coat on a large hook placed on the back of his bedroom door. He unbuttoned his shirt and folded it neatly, before placing it on his bedside table. His pants followed, as well as his socks.
Opening his closet he pulled out one of three blue body suits, and slid it on. The fabric was small, tight, but stretchy. It formed a second skin over his own, complete with built in socks. The material wasn't as advanced as what he was used to, but since it was based on tatters from Vegeta's battle jacket, it was the best Earth could provide at the moment. He slid a white and gold chest plate over his head, and considered the extra hip, crotch, and shoulder plates. As of now, they'd just get in the way. He grabbed his white boots and gloves, and shut the door.
His boots slid on his feet effortlessly, and were tightened with strings made from the same material as his suit. He slid his left, fingerless, glove on first, followed by the right. He summoned small ki balls to the tip of each of his left fingers, and frowned as the holes in the glove began to darken. They were still too close to the energy, and couldn't withstand it, but that didn't really matter.
Taking a Capsule Corp branded scouter off his nightstand he put it on his left ear and activated the device. He quickly spotted his life raft, as well as several high power levels moving towards it. None were even close to the level of what lay in store for them.
"Come in." A voice called into his ear. "Report, at once. Who are you, and where did you get a scouter?"
Tien smiled as he recognized the accent. "Well, hello Salza, it's been a long time."
"I repeat, who are you, where did you source the scouter?" Salza spoke evenly.
"This is Captain Ginyu, from the Ginyu Force." Tien said. "Things went very sideways on Namek, and I was fortunate enough to be able to steel an Earthling's body. With the help of Guldo I faked a head injury, a loss of memories, and I've been steeling this civilizations technological secrets since the moment I landed. The scouter was created on Earth."
"Hold." Salza said.
Tien tapped his foot while he waited. A minute later he checked the time on his scouter, sighed, and continued holding.
After another minute passed a new, deeper, voice came over the scouter. "Captain Ginyu, is that you?"
"Yes, my lord." Tien bowed instinctively.
"Salza tells me you've been steeling this culture's technology?" The voice did not sound impressed. "Tell me, what kind of technology could a non space capable planet offer us?"
"I sent a captive with Jeice. I assume she arrived safely?" Tien asked, starting to get nervous.
"Yes, she has not been very cooperative, but we have extracted some information from her." The voice responded.
"Her father, the man who taught her, has been teaching me. I can create new training environments that will greatly increase our soldiers, your soldiers, productivity." He paused for a moment. "They can create replacement limbs with unlimited energy potential." He took another deep breath. 'They are working on technology to travel backwards in time."
"That's enough." The voice called. "If what you say is true, you have earned a pardon for your cowardly abandonment of your post. Bring the scientist to us, and you will be allowed to return to service."
"My pleasure." Tien said. "We'll be there when you land. Thank you, sir."
Tien reopened his closet and removed a large, empty, gym bag. At his door he activated his rooms speaker. "Dr. Brief, please come to my room, immediately. This can not wait."
Mt. Paozu
"Lucora Gun!" Vegeta shouted as he machine gunned his fists towards the distant Turles. Each punch shot a basket ball sized blast rocketing towards the defending Saiyan.
Turles pushed ki into his hands as well, but kept it in spheres around his fists. He met each incoming blast with a powerful, wide punch, sending them glancing off in all directions before exploding a safe distance away. Turles walked forward as he blocked, slowly closing on the attacking Saiyan. "It's not enough!" Turles shouted.
The barrage stopped and Turles continued towards his target. Vegeta raised his right hand up and behind his head, while forming a V with his pointer and middle finger on his left hand. He looked between his fingers and continued forcing his energy into his right hand. He lowered his aim slightly, going from Turles' head to his heart, and fired the high speed, narrow, beam.
Turles didn't try to catch this attack, he knew it was moving too quick and he'd at least feel it tomorrow, even if it didn't injure him. He dove forward and launched himself head first at Vegeta, flying just under the beam. Vegeta forced it down, but his influence started at the far end and stopped at his palm. The beam smashed down behind Turles' feet, but couldn't quite catch him.
Before Vegeta knew it Turles was on him, throwing his right hand back into the air, ending the attack. Turles threw his fist into Vegeta's jaw, and his forehead into Vegeta's brow. The older Saiyan stumbled backwards, and catches another fist to the stomach for his trouble, followed by an elbow to the back of his head. Vegeta collapsed on the ground, not for the first time that day, and Turles took the opportunity to survey the other battle just a few dozen feet away.
Raditz was inside Nappa's reach, a dangerous spot for someone with half the power of the brute. Nappa was grabbing for him, but Raditz was staying out of the much larger Saiyan's grasp. Ducking an attempted bear hug, Raditz popped up behind Nappa and delivered a roundhouse kick an inch off of his target's back. Unfortunately for Nappa a slash of ki extended from Raditz's foot, and easily sliced through his armor, causing a small spray of blood.
Nappa rolled forward several times, ending his tumble with an upside down sideways twist, landing on his feet, facing Raditz. He stuck a hand up, flipping Raditz the bird, before having his index finger join the offensive digit. He pushed his ki into his fingertips, forming a white glowing Bomber DX. When the attack was ready he confirmed Raditz was still in place, apparently contemplating his next move. Nappa tossed the attack at Raditz, and the Bomber DX went directly into, and through, Raditz's armor. Instead of an explosion of blood and viscera, as Nappa feared, the only indication Raditz gave of being hit was a slight flickering, before the After Image faded to nothing.
"You didn't keep your eye on the birdie." Raditz spoke into Nappa's ear. "Double Sunday!"
Nappa turned, but couldn't get his arms up in time. The pair of pink ki waves scored direct hits on his chest, and sent him shooting backwards. The attack had force, but wasn't that sharp. Nappa's armor groaned under the assault, but it held, no damage would come to him, not yet. He almost had his hands up between the beams, preparing to disrupt them both at the same time, when a boulder sneaked up behind him and stopped his movement. His breath was momentarily lost.
Raditz canceled his attack began his charge through the air at Nappa. He kept his lower body on target, and rotated his upper body to the right. He extended his right arm out fully, pumping all his energy not used for flight into his fist. Instead of forming an energy attack, he reinforced and strengthened his hand and muscles.
"SLEDGEHAMMER!" Raditz shouted as he neared Nappa. He swung his body, his arm, his fist, around, and the devastating blow was aimed directly for Nappa's left temple.
Nappa didn't try to get his defenses up. He knew that if he dodged, the attack would quickly find a secondary target. He knew that if he tried to block Raditz would simply cancel the attack and switch to another approach. Instead, Nappa launched himself forward, meeting Raditz in a literal head on head collision, leaving the smaller Saiyan clutching his skull on the ground, while the larger prepared another Bomber DX, only a few feet above Raditz's prone form.
"Enough!" Turles called to the pair. "Raditz, good job on your hit and run tactics. Nappa, good job countering them. Next time though, I want you both to..." He trailed off as he felt his pocket vibrating. Pulling his phone out he was lost for a moment, before remembering people on Earth didn't use scouters to communicate. "Hold on." He grumbled.
"Yes?" Turles answered the phone. Nappa helped Raditz to his feet and congratulated him on a job well done with a few pats on the back, and even offered him a bottle of water. Vegeta on the other hand was still on the ground, he had pulled himself to his hands and feet, but didn't get up yet. Turles turned his back on him, on him, Vegeta, the prince, he'd show him how bad of an idea that was.
"HE'S WHAT?" Turles shouted into the phone. Nappa and Raditz both tilted their heads. Nappa gestured for Turles to come forward with the information, but Turles looked away from him. "Where? I can't … okay, yeah, I, I feel him." Turles pointed off to the side of where they had been training, and the two Saiyans that were paying attention focused their attention that way.
"How soon?" Turles asked. Vegeta made his move, and took Turles' tail in both hands. He squeezed it, attempting to crush it, and Turles sank slightly into his stance. "Nappa, Raditz, and I will be there." Turles said. "Vegeta may be in the hospital." He twitched his tail free of Vegeta's grip, and slammed it into his side. The smaller warrior was sent flying and was caught by a large tree. Turles ended the call.
"Vegeta, stop monkeying around and get out of the tree!" Turles winked at Nappa as the eldest Saiyan's mouth dropped open.
Vegeta screamed and charged at Turles with a fast, tight, punch. Turles caught it easily in one hand, and caught the follow up attack as well. "Remember when I told you Frieza was probably brought back? Well, he was, and he's making his move. He'll be on Earth in minutes. If you'd like to do something about it, you can. If you'd like to keep tantrumming worse than Raditz did as a toddler, then you're welcome to wait here."
Vegeta snarled and withdrew his fists. Turles didn't let go, but he did let Vegeta lower his hands. "Frieza is back? We're not ready, we're not even close to being ready. I have yet to ascend to Super Saiyan."
"And you're not going to." Turles said. "At least not before Frieza arrives." He finally let go of his hands. "So, I'm going to go be a true Saiyan, meet this challenge head on. If you'd like to come with me, you're more than welcome to. If not, that's fine too."
Turles turned his back to Vegeta once more. "Are you two coming?" He asked Nappa and Raditz.
Nappa aggressively nodded as he reached behind his back and felt his wound. It was long, but shallow. "I'm in." He said. "I wouldn't miss this fight for anything." He turned to Raditz.
Raditz chewed his lip for a moment. He had grown over these last few months, far, far beyond what he ever thought was possible for a Saiyan, let alone himself. He wasn't where Vegeta or Nappa were, and nowhere close to Turles, but he was beyond where Vegeta was when they were revived, and after witnessing what his uncle could do, and hearing what his brother could do, he knew where his potential stopped, and he wasn't even close to it. "I." He began speaking.
"Of course Raditz isn't going." Vegeta said while walking towards Nappa. "He's always been, and always will be, a coward."
"Vegeta." Turles said. "You're the one who was just complaining about not being ready."
"I wasn't saying I wouldn't go." He said. "I was just criticizing your training, as it has left us unprepared for this battle. I, of course, as a true Saiyan, will be leading our assault."
"I'm coming." Raditz said. He thought about what he had seen Frieza do to Vegeta, before this whole Earth thing began, and he knew that he wouldn't even come close to being a factor in that fight. But, but if he could get Cui alone, or maybe even members of the Ginyu Force, then he could at least keep them busy while Turles and the Namekian took on Frieza.
"Glad to hear it." Turles said. "Now, stay close to me, and follow my lead. Raditz, if things get bad, you know what to do."
Raditz nodded, and the four of them took off towards the approaching energy. Vegeta tried to stay in the front of their formation, but Turles made sure he was at least one body length behind him at all times. Due to this race Nappa fell behind slightly, but Raditz managed to stay close to the far stronger fighters.
Northern Wastelands
Based on the information provided by Dr. Brief, Turles, Nappa, Vegeta, and Raditz were the first to arrive where the incoming ship would soon touch down. When they drew near to the indicated spot the four of them lowered their power, and floated to the ground, where they ran the remaining distance. The group found themselves on the side of a large mountain, overlooking a desert wasteland. Several boulders rimmed the small flat spot they were on, giving them cover to monitor the situation as it progressed, but hopefully not be seen.
Krillen and Yamcha were next to arrive. They felt the Saiyans coming as well, but lost them minutes before reaching their destination. Not wanting to out themselves, or the others, the pair also lowered their ki and finished their approach on foot. Not seeing the ledge covered in Saiyans, they continued down the mountain, to the colorful cliff that marked its beginning. While they did hide their energy, they knew that they wouldn't be able to stay out of the fight, so they didn't bother hiding their bodies. They stood at the base of the cliff, silently on watch for the approaching ship. Krillen could feel the dark energy coming from the aliens, but due to its size he couldn't get a clear idea of how far away it was.
Piccolo, Loa, and Chiaotzu were next arrive, and didn't follow the lead of the others. They felt the Saiyans and Earthlings ahead of them, and felt them hide. Piccolo knew that someone had to draw them to this spot, and he knew he could do that himself. He also knew that it didn't matter what he said, that Loa and Chiaotzu would be right at his side when the ship landed. The trio flew in low over the mountain, Chiaotzu noted where the other groups were taking cover, and also took note that Tien was nowhere to be seen. They landed a short ways from the base of the mountain, at the edge of the largest clearing in miles.
Behind the trio Yamcha and Krillen exchanged a glance. "Did, did you feel Piccolo?" Krillen asked.
"Yeah, I'm glad he's on our side now." Yamcha said. "How about Chiaotzu?"
"He's sure come a long ways." Krillen said. He looked down at the ground between him and the others, before looking back at where Piccolo stood, and back to Yamcha. "We should probably go out there." Krillen said. "I mean, why wait here?"
"I was hoping to get the jump on them." Yamcha said. "But, Piccolo has already given us away. Let's go."
The pair kept their energy down, but left their cliff. As they approached they felt the dark energy draped over them all take a sudden step to the side. Either it was extremely fast, or it was a lot closer than before. The five warriors greeted each other, and Piccolo took the liberty of updating his companions on the distance between themselves and the ship.
As Piccolo's slow countdown got to the point of no return, Chiaotzu felt a familiar ki in the distance. He turned and saw Tien, garbed in a similar suit to what Vegeta typically wore, complete with scouter, carrying a bulky bag. The triclopse kept his distance, coming to a stop roughly a fifth of the way around the large open space. Chiaotzu waved, and Tien looked away, up, where a magenta circle was just entering the atmosphere.
"This is it." Piccolo said as he too saw the vessel. "Last chance to run."
Yamcha quickly looked around the group at Piccolo's words. No one reacted, and despite his intense desire to do so, he did not react either. He had been in tight spots before, but now his thundering heartbeat was slowly being drowned out by an approaching low whistle from the spacecraft.
"That's Frieza's ship." Krillen confirmed. "I don't think I could ever forget that shape."
"It's a circle." Loa said.
"Yeah, hard to forget, huh?" Krillen smiled.
Chiaotzu clinched his fist in front of his mouth, trying not to laugh. Loa let out a snort before regaining composure. The corners of Piccolo's mouth raised up for a brief moment, before returning to their serious state.
The ship fell through the air like a bowl of petunias. Upon reaching the ground it hung in the air in much the same way that bricks do not. Around the outside of the ship a large number of pod like legs detached at the base, and extended slightly, to form feet all around the perimeter. Once its landing struts were deployed, the ship lowered itself the last few inches to land flatly on the new planet.
Steam bellowed out in a fine rectangle from between two of the many legs. Piccolo rushed to be in front of the assumed door, and the others followed shortly behind. Tien walked calmly to be in front of the same space, he stood about twenty-five feet from the door, and Piccolo stood twenty-five feet past him, the others were another ten back from him. The Saiyans were nowhere to be seen, and at this point, felt.
The rectangle slowly pealed away from the ship. As it lowered to the ground, it also straightened its curve to form a consistently smooth ramp to the Earth. Once it impacted the slightly uneven ground, it pushed a bit further, digging one corner slightly into the ground, to ensure an easy boarding and disembarking. At the top of the ramp the hull of the ship was seamless, but the smooth black metal groaned as it was retracted into the upper portion of the craft.
A pair of dark purple soldiers wearing light blue battle armor stood at the top of the ramp, energy rifles up and ready for use. They quickly scanned the landing site before running down the ramp, and taking up positions on either side of the point half way between Tien and Piccolo, they raised their weapons at the Namekian. As they reached the bottom of the ramp, two more soldiers came out, and as they reached the bottom of the ramp, another two more came out.
When the soldiers stopped pouring out of the ship, two dozen rifles were pointed at Piccolo, and due to the nature of the semi circle they formed, weapons were also pointed at Tien.
"This is your one warning." Piccolo said. "Leave now. We on Earth do not take kindly to space invaders."
"Fire." A voice called through the doorway, and the men with clear shots obeyed. Nearly twenty ki blasts shot towards Piccolo, who didn't bother reacting.
Chiaotzu vanished from beside Loa, and appeared in front of Piccolo. He spread his open palms to either side, and the incoming attacks were bathed in blue light. He jolted his chin towards the sky, and the blasts followed his lead. They connected with each other a few feet over head and in front of the psionic warrior, exploding in a small burst of light.
"Get back." Piccolo growled. "Don't show your hand until you need to."
Chiaotzu ignored Piccolo. He floated to where the blast erupted overhead and made sure all eyes were on him. He closed his eyes for a moment, reopening them to reveal their glowing blue whites. He quickly glanced at each soldier in turn, counting them off on his fingers. When he reached the last one he clapped his hands together and as a group they fell to the ground.
"Thanks." Piccolo said. "Now get back to Loa. Try not to get involved, if you don't need to."
Chiaotzu floated forwards, taking up a place next to Tien. "I know you don't remember me." He said. "But I'm strong, far, far stronger than I was before. Please, let me help you."
Tien looked over his shoulder at the pale humanoid, and smiled. "Sure, why not, little buddy."
"Good show." The same voice called from the ship, along with slow, sarcastic, clapping. "Taking out a basic armored squadron, all by yourself. Why, these troops must have had a power level of, at least, fifteen thousand each. Good show." As he spoke, he walked forward. A pair of white boots were visible first, followed by a deep, dark purple, skin tight suit, white body armor, and a turquoise head capped in short blond hair.
"Salza." Tien bowed his head for a moment.
Behind Salza came another warrior. The large man had dark green skin, half a white battle jacket, and a matching helmet with a purple center. From under the helmet spread a wild black mess of hair. A yellow scouter completed the mismatched uniform, not to mention the purple tighties that left nothing to the imagination.
"Dore." Tien bowed to him as well.
The last man, alien, out of the ship was ugliest of the group. Brown, reptilian, and barely humanoid. His large yellow eyes were awkwardly spread across his face. His ears were too pointy to fit his blue scouter, so it was attached by a white strap. His suit was similar to Salza's, but lacked sleeves or lower legs.
"Neiz." Tien bowed at the third invader in turn.
Chiaotzu stared at Tien in confusion. "How, how do you know them?" He asked. "Did you meet them in space? Aren't, aren't they with Frieza?"
Salza shot a blast that went just over Chiaotzu's head. "No." He said. "We are not with Frieza. We" He gestured to himself and his comrades. "We are the proud members of Cooler's Armored Squadron. Now, Captain Ginyu, bring us your payment for inspection."
Tien took the bag off his shoulder and held it out in front of him. He walked to Salza, dropping to one knee, and sat it in front of the warrior. He unzipped the bag, lowering it to reveal Dr. Brief's unconscious form.
Author's Note: Oops, that's not Frieza's team. My bad.
