Kaguya was in those moments, sitting quietly on her bed eating the food brought to her by the guards.
Before, she used to deny anything they brought her, but for some time now she began to accept them thanks to a certain dragon slayer who visited her frequently to the point where every day she waited for her to arrive.
She would never have imagined that she, a woman who was betrayed, became a goddess, was betrayed by her sons, twice, and sealed, twice, would end up becoming attached to a young woman from another world.
Suddenly, the cell door opened, and Kaguya turned her head in its direction.
At first, a smile formed on her face when she saw that the person who entered was Wendy, but then, her smile was erased when she saw that she didn't come with her usual friendly smile and outgoing manner, but with a nervous and worried expression.
"What happened, Wendy?" asked Kaguya.
"It's... It's terrible, Kaguya." said Wendy approaching the horned woman.
"What are you talking about?" asked Kaguya getting more and more confused.
"Your son, Black Zetsu, has appeared!" confessed Wendy, causing the horned woman's eyes to widen even more.
"What?!" asked Kaguya in shock at the revelation.
"Not only that. He seems to have turned into a real demon." said Wendy remembering being told what the black being looked like when they first met him.
Kaguya bit a fingernail at that information.
"I should have suspected he would come to that if he was determined to join them." said Kaguya before turning her gaze to the dragon slayer in the sky. "But why did he suddenly appear after so long?"
"He came to warn us that he and the other Death Hand demons will be attacking the village at dawn. Miss Tsunade has ordered to evacuate all civilians while we prepare for the fight." said Wendy.
"I see." said Kaguya with a frown.
"I'm sorry it's short time, but I have to leave with the others." said Wendy preparing to leave.
"Wait!" said Kaguya stopping the sky dragon slayer. "I'd like to make a request."
"What kind of request?" asked Wendy confused by what the horned woman was going to ask.
"I would like to help you fight demons." said Kaguya much to the surprise of the sky dragon slayer.
"What? Are you sure?" asked Wendy.
"I know I don't have the best track record with humanity, but right now there is a worse threat. Both they and I have a common enemy. Besides, Black Zetsu was born from me. He is my responsibility. So I should take care of him." said Kaguya with a serious expression.
Wendy had to admit that she was making good points.
They didn't know what abilities Black Zetsu had, especially now that he was a demon and Kaguya was the only one in the whole world who knew him better than anyone else.
She would like to say yes right away, but alas, she was a prisoner, locked up for her crimes against humanity, but now she was no longer a danger to anyone.
She wasn't asking to leave to escape or join the demons, she was asking to leave to help them fight the demons who intended to wipe them all out.
"Kaguya, I would certainly accept your help, but I don't know what the others will think." said Wendy sincerely.
"You just tell them about my request. If they don't accept it, I'll understand perfectly. After all, I myself wouldn't want my help after what I did." said Kaguya with a lowered gaze before she noticed a hand on hers and looked up to see Wendy giving her a determined expression.
"Don't say that. I'll make them accept your help. I promise." said Wendy with determination.
Kaguya was taken aback, both by the look and Wendy's words, as no one had ever done anything like that to her before.
"Thank you, Wendy." said Kaguya with a smile.
Wendy gave the horned woman a smiling nod before leaving the cell to join the others.
She only hoped that she could convince them to accept the help of a woman who was once her enemy and tried to wipe out humanity.
After Dokuzetsu's appearance and Wendy left, the ninjas took the Team Natsu to the Hokage's office where they were telling them about Kaguya, from her history to her sudden appearance and imprisonment, as well as the fact that Wendy went to visit her frequently and defended her when Sasuke suggested killing her.
Needless to say, the Fairy Tail mages were shocked.
On the one hand, they felt sorry for Kaguya when they were told that she was betrayed by the person she loved the most, but on the other hand, they were also shocked when they were told that she tried to absorb all the chakra on the planet to the point of killing them all.
However, there was something that had their attention more.
"How did you let Wendy visit that dangerous woman?" asked Charle.
"Well, it's not like we denied her either." said Naruto with a shrug.
"Still, I find it unbelievable that you have that woman locked up after all she did." said Gray.
"Believe me, at first, we thought about killing her or sealing her again, but Wendy convinced us to leave her locked up. Besides, right now, the most important thing is to deal with the demons." said Kakashi.
"And we only have half a day until they show up and attack us." said Sakura.
"Let them come. I'll kick their asses." said Natsu hitting his fist with his palm.
"Aye, sir." said Happy.
"You'll die before you can touch them." said Sasuke getting the fire dragon slayer's attention. "We still don't know what those demons are capable of. Not to mention Black Zetsu is on their side, and he was born of the will of Kaguya Otsutsuki."
"I still find it hard to believe that something like that was born from the will of someone." said Lucy.
At that moment, the door was heard opening, and everyone turned their gaze that way to see Wendy entering the office.
"Sorry it took me a while. I was..." began Wendy.
"Chatting with a very dangerous woman! What were you thinking, young lady?" asked Charle.
"You know?" asked Wendy surprised that her friends knew about Kaguya.
"Well, they were curious about the person you were going to visit, so we told them all about it." said Sakura.
"Wendy, we understand that you want to help that woman, but after what we've been told, it would be best if you didn't get any closer to her." said Erza.
"She could be using you or worse." said Lucy.
"Believe me, I know what you are talking about, but she is different now. I've been visiting her for the past few days, and she's changed so much. I think you experienced something similar with Jellal, didn't you?" asked Wendy.
Erza's eyes widened.
It was true that he was once her best friend, but due to certain events, he became a cruel person who was willing to hurt many people, but after coming back to life, he understood the error of his ways and decided to start on a path to make amends for them.
In fact, now that she thought about it, Kaguya's story wasn't so different from Jellal's.
"In fact, she asked me to communicate a request of hers to you." said Wendy looking at the Hokage.
"What does she want now?" asked Tsunade.
"She wants to help us fight demons." said Wendy, to the surprise of the others.
"You're kidding, right? After all she's done she wants to help us?" asked Lapis not believing the horned woman's request.
"She's right. Who tells you she won't try to escape at the slightest chance or join the demons like Black Zetsu did." said Sasuke.
"She won't! I trust her! I know she wants to help us, and she feels responsible for her 'son'. Besides, it's not often said that the enemy of my enemy is my friend!" said Wendy with a serious expression.
While the Fairy Tail mages were shocked to see how their friend was defending and declaring that she trusted a woman who was once a powerful enemy, the ninjas were left wondering at the horned woman's request.
"What say you?" asked Tsunade to the other ninja in the room, as that wasn't a topic for her to deal with alone.
"Despite the fact that Kaguya almost killed us all, I have to admit that she's been very cooperative lately. Besides, if Wendy trusts her, that's good enough for me." said Naruto giving the sky dragon slayer a smile which she returned.
"She might have been our enemy before, but it's true that, with Black Zetsu on the demons' side, our chances of victory are reduced, but if we have Kaguya on our side, things would even out a bit." said Kakashi.
"We could keep the mark so that, in case she reveals herself, we can easily deal with her." said Sakura.
"What do you say, Sasuke?" asked Tsunade.
Sasuke was silent before turning his serious gaze to the sky dragon slayer.
"If we accept Kaguya's help, will you be willing to take responsibility in case she betrays us or something?" asked Sasuke.
"Yes, I am." said Wendy looking at the Sharingan ninja seriously despite the fear in his black gaze.
Both sides were silent for a few moments until...
"Hmm." expressed Sasuke looking away. "Very well. If you're really willing to take responsibility for her actions, I'll accept it."
Wendy smiled as she saw that the Sharingan ninja approved of her friend's help.
"Thank you very much, Sasuke." said Wendy with a grateful smile.
"I guess I'll take it too if you put that much effort into defending her." said Lapis with a shrug.
"That's Wendy for you." said Charle with a small smile.
Later Kaguya was sitting on her bed, patiently waiting for Wendy to arrive to tell her about whether they had accepted her request to help them.
Most of her believed that they would flatly refuse, but a small part of her held out hope that Wendy would convince them.
If there was one thing she had learned about her in the time they had been getting to know each other, it was that she could be quite convincing.
Just then, the door was heard to open, and she turned her gaze that way to see Wendy entering the cell, but, to her surprise, she wasn't the only one to enter, as next to her were Naruto and Sasuke, the ninjas who sealed her the second time.
For a moment she thought that they hadn't only refused her help, but had decided to finish her off before she could escape or join the demons, but then, she calmed down a bit when she noticed Wendy's smile.
"Good news, Kaguya! They've agreed to let you help us!" said Wendy with a smile.
A small smile formed on Kaguya's face at the news.
"Thank you so much, Wendy." said Kaguya.
"Gee, that's the first time I've seen her smile." thought Naruto surprised by the horned woman's smile before a grin formed on his face. "I guess it must have been Wendy's doing."
"So why are you here, Naruto and...? Sorry, I don't know your name." said Kaguya looking at the Sharingan ninja.
"Sasuke." said Sasuke slightly surprised to see the woman who tried to kill them being nice.
"As for why we came. We are here to free you." said Naruto.
"But we will leave the mark on you and in case you intend to betray us, we will make you feel so much pain that you will ask for us to kill you." said Sasuke with a somber tone that made the sky dragon slayer nervous.
Despite the threat, Kaguya showed no signs of fear or hesitation.
"Fine with me, but you just know that I don't plan on betraying you. Not after everything Wendy did for me." said Kaguya making the sky dragon slayer smile.
"Then let's proceed." said Naruto before taking the key out of the handcuffs as Sasuke took care of the circle that bounded Kaguya's bed, preventing her from being able to get out.
Meanwhile, outside the cell stood Tsunade, Kakashi, Sakura, Lapis, and the other members of Team Natsu.
"You know? I keep wondering what that woman looks like." said Lucy.
"Lapis, you already met her, can you tell us what she looks like?" asked Erza.
"I think it would be best to wait until you see her for yourselves." said Lapis.
"Hey, do you think she'll have wings like me? Since she was a goddess." said Happy.
"Nah, she sure has tentacles instead of hair." said Natsu as the image of a creature with tentacles on his head formed in his mind.
"Are you talking about a woman or an alien?" asked Gray with a bead of sweat.
"Although knowing Kaguya's origin, it wouldn't be a mistake." said Charle.
At that moment, the door opened and everyone focused their attention on it.
First Naruto and Sasuke came out, then Wendy, and finally Kaguya.
Needless to say, the Fairy Tail mages' mouths dropped open at the sight of the horned woman.
"Incredible. Despite what we were told about her, she looks very beautiful. She looks like a real princess." thought Lucy.
For Kaguya, she already knew the ninjas present, but she arched an eyebrow when she saw the unfamiliar faces of the Fairy Tail mages, something Wendy noticed.
"Oh, Kaguya, these are some friends of mine who came from my world." said Wendy introducing her friends.
"Oh, so you are from Fairy Tail too. Wendy has told me a lot about you." said Kaguya with a smile.
"Hehe. I find it amazing that a goddess has heard of me." said Natsu scratching the back of his head.
"Though I wonder what she said about us." said Gray.
"I'm sure she said you have a tendency to get naked. Like right now." said Happy before the ice mage looked down at himself to see that he was in his underwear again, causing him to curse under his breath as he retrieved his clothes.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Kaguya Otsutsuki. I'm Erza Scarlet." said Erza extending her hand towards the horned woman.
"The pleasure is mine, but you can call me Kaguya." said Kaguya shaking the hand of the red-haired mage who smiled seeing that she wasn't as bad a person as she was being told.
"Unbelievable, I've never seen her act like that before." whispered Sakura to the masked ninja.
"Me neither. Makes me wonder what Wendy was doing on her visits to make her turn like that." said Kakashi.
It was then that Kaguya noticed the white exceed standing in front of her with her arms crossed.
"You must be Charle, right?" asked Kaguya.
"The same and let me tell you something, Kaguya. Just because Wendy trusts you, doesn't mean I do too. If you want me to, you'll have to convince me of it." said Charle pointing at the horned woman.
Despite not trusting her, Kaguya gave the exceed white a small smile.
"Of course. If that's what you need, that's fine." said Kaguya.
"Alright, now that we're all here, let's start talking about the battle ahead of us." said Tsunade before everyone gave her a nod in agreement.
For the next few hours, everyone in the village was very busy.
The main thing was that they got all the civilians to shelters where they could be safe from the impending attack.
Shikamaru, who had contacted the other villages, informed Tsunade that the other Kages agreed to cooperate, but their reinforcements would take a while to arrive given the short time they had until the demons attacked, but Tsunade accepted it.
They also placed various seals and traps throughout the village in the hypothetical case they decided to attack by surprise or there was an invisible intruder.
At Erza's request, Tsunade sent to check all the civilians to see if there were any suspects, as the red-haired mage remembered that time when they trusted someone only to discover that he was allied with the demons.
Finally, the night came and now Tsunade, Team 7, the Earthland mages and Kaguya were on the rooftop of the Hokage's building, waiting patiently for the time to come.
"How did the evacuation go?" asked Tsunade.
"We've checked everything. There's not a single civilian left in the village and there's no one suspicious." said Kakashi.
"The traps are set to alert in case of a sneak attack." said Sakura.
"We're all ready for when they show up." said Erza.
"Oh yeah! I'm on fire!" said Natsu with a toothy grin.
"As someone who will be the Hokage of the village I can't let those demons do whatever they want to our people." said Naruto with a toothy grin.
"Aye, sir." said Happy.
"Who knew that, trying to look for a companion, we would end up facing a demon guild." said Gray crossing his arms.
"And to me that my return to the village would be this way." said Sasuke with his arms crossed.
"I guess it's the luck of Fairy Tail." said Lucy.
"I don't know if that will be good or bad." said Lapis.
"I'm not letting you out of my sight this time. If you're going to fight, it will be with me by your side." said Charle pointing at Wendy.
"I know and I'm glad you're here" said Wendy before she noticed something out of the corner of her eye and turned her head to see Kaguya looking nervous. "What's wrong, Kaguya?"
Kaguya startled a little before turning her gaze to the sky dragon slayer.
"Oh, it's nothing." said Kaguya with a small smile.
"Are you nervous?" asked Wendy with slight concern.
Kaguya thought for a moment to deny it, but found herself unable to.
"*Sigh* I am. After all, I'm going up against Black Zetsu who's almost like a son of mine." said Kaguya.
"Relax. It's normal to be nervous before a big battle, but I know you'll make it. I trust you." said Wendy with a smile.
Kaguya couldn't help but smile back at the sky dragon slayer, as she felt a lot after those words.
"But you'll have to promise me something." said Wendy.
"And what would that be?" asked Kaguya curiously.
"Promise me you'll come back." said Wendy.
"If that makes you calm down, then I promise." said Kaguya with a smile making the sky dragon slayer smile as well.
"Get ready everyone. It's almost time." said Tsunade as everyone noticed the first features of the sun peeking over the horizon.
Quite a distance from the village, in the place that was once known as the Valley of the End, but was now nothing more than a heap of water and rubble, a black sphere formed, which, as it unraveled, revealed the dark guild Death Hand.
"I see we're not too late. Excellent." said Dunkino noticing the rising sun.
"That's good. We're here as agreed. Shall we attack now?" asked Dokuzetsu.
"Be patient, Dokuzetsu. You must have lived long enough to remember that, at the beginning of a war, an infantry battalion is sent first." said Belmastos.
"But we have no one but ourselves." said Dokuzetsu.
"Didn't you tell him?" asked Linfral.
"Hihihi. I just wanted to see his face when we told him. Hihihi." said Harrqueens.
"Lies are a form of love." said Marbearous.
"So where did we get that battalion from?" asked Dokuzetsu.
"Leave that to me." said Standhells before taking a few steps forward.
He closed his eyes and began to shake as if he was being shaken.
Soon after, something came out of the hole through which his eyes were showing, something huge, something beastly, something... that made Dokuzetsu smile hugely.
"Wow. It's certainly a good battalion." said Dokuzetsu.
Meanwhile, the group was patiently awaiting the presence of the demons, although a couple of them were starting to get impatient.
"Ugh. When are they going to show up?" asked Natsu complainingly.
"That. He said they were going to appear at dawn." said Naruto complaining as well.
"I agree with them." said Lapis.
"You don't think they lied about the date to set us up, do you?" asked Lucy.
"Dealing with demons, it's a possibility." said Erza.
"I don't like people who aren't punctual." said Charle.
"Hey, what are those birds?" asked Happy pointing in the distance.
Everyone turned their gaze towards the horizon to see a group of flying creatures heading towards the village.
"Those... aren't birds." said Sasuke.
"We should have figured they'd launch a battalion." said Kakashi.
"Well of course, the Tartaros did the same thing." said Gray.
"Kaguya, is he...?" asked Wendy.
"Yes, Black Zetsu is here. I can feel him." said Kaguya with a serious face.
Suddenly, there was an explosion in the middle of the village and out of the resulting smokescreen came some sort of giant centipede.
Then, all over the village, more explosions began to erupt and from them more of those centipedes emerged along with humanoid beings with a hulking body, reddish skin, a clown-like face and two horns on the top of their heads.
The beings flying towards the village came close enough to reveal themselves to be griffins and huge human-like beings that appeared to have stone skin, small wings on their backs and a sun-shaped helmet with a terrifying face.
Each of the creatures let out a terrifying, bestial roar.
"I'm starting to have memories of Pain's invasion." said Sakura remembering when the Akatsuki leader attacked the village.
"Looks like the battle has begun." began Tsunade before turning her head to the others. "Spread out and finish off all those things! If you see one of those demons, take it out!"
Without a word, the ninjas and mages jumped in different directions, ready to face whatever the demons threw at them.
