I received my first OC duo shortly before this chapter finished: they won't be showing up this chapter, but I'll try to incorporate them next chapter.
Jack and Nicholas Henry (starfberry)
Now, let's dive into it!
Sherlock's POV
I pressed a stamp against another case file, marking it as False. I'd already gone through a bunch of these, and every time it frustrated me. These supernatural encounters weren't nearly as common as I liked.
Sighing, I leaned back into my heavily weaponized recliner, watching the ticking multi-faced clock sitting on my desk. All around me sat hundreds of gadgets, all itching to be used.
My name is Sherlock Bond, codename Double'o'sevens and the youngest and greatest of the Federal Supernatural and Interdimensional Containment Bureau. And right now there was nothing for me to do.
I hated sitting in the office. I liked being out in the field, tracking down and stopping any unnatural phenomena that arose. I was one of the best agents in the field. Sometimes, I even wondered if I was too good. That would explain the lack of genuine cases.
As I sat there, wondering how I was going to pass the time, when the door to my office swung open.
A strange agent entered the room. They had long white hair that they'd styled into a ponytail, on top of which there was a porkpie hat. They wore a long dark trench coat, and I noted the dark, spirit-like body underneath it. I could see one glowing blue eye behind their sunglasses, looking somewhat amused. They floated across the room and dropped a large file onto my desk, out of a large three-clawed hand.
"Agent Shadow.", I commented, "As supernatural and suspicious-looking as ever."
Agent Shadow shrugged. "Obviously, I'm not Darkrai. Missing the mustache, you know? I don't get why I have to keep telling you that."
I replied, "Because you look and act suspicious every single time. One of these days, I'm going to find evidence that blows your cover, and then I can finally get the bureaucracy to capture you."
Agent Shadow/Darkrai chuckled. "You'll never get that evidence, you know. You really are a genius to have found me out when no one else has, but that won't help you. Oh, and I did disable all the bugs you set up again. Too easy for someone of my talents."
I glared at him as I pulled the case file towards me. "Well, at least I can count on the fact you always find serious, genuine cases for me to deal with."
I looked through the file. As I read through it, a smile grew wider and wider on my face.
"Finally.", I said eagerly, "A case worthy of my talents. For years we've been trying to find those particular Guardians, and now they've made a huge mistake."
Darkrai added, "It helps, of course, that Giratina is finally making a move again. Even Arceus is worried. You'll never stop us in time."
"Keep telling yourself that.", I replied, "Once I deal with Mew, I'll be sure to stop whatever you're planning."
Darkrai smirked. "I look forward to it."
Then he dissolved into shadows.
I picked up a red phone off of my desk. "Pilot, arrange a helicopter for me at once. We've finally found three Guardians that have been bugging us for too long."(-o-)
Gavin's POV
There was a very interesting crowd next to the lake.
Miss Melody was standing on the pier, waiting for Coach Vernon to return. Half of my siblings were still unaccounted for, and I hoped that they were all right. That encounter with the Weavile had made me quite nervous.
Everyone had figured out who was who, and had remained close to their buddies. Everyone was quietly awaiting the coach's return, and the explanation that would follow. All of us were staring at Miss Melody, which, considering the fact that we were all super-powered creatures and currently not very happy, made it quite impressive that she didn't look in the least nervous.
Finally, Vernon returned, closely followed by four Eevees. One was dragging a Nintendo Switch with him, another was wearing a fancy hairbow, the third had a crown of flowers, and the last had somehow kept her black belt tied around her waist. I sighed in relief. At least they were all right, or at least as all right one could be when you had turned into a small fluffy fox.
The four of them headed over to me. In order, they were Peter, Sylvie, Laura, and Fiona. Most of them seemed to be taking it pretty well.
I glanced over at Brianna, who was brooding darkly. If only she was as calm as the rest of us. It looked as if she would leap and claw someone's face off at any moment. I did not envy whoever told her what happened.
Vernon took a place next to Miss Melody. Miss Melody, seeing that everyone was gathered now, sighed sadly. "Hi kids.", she said, "I'm just going to say, I did not intend for this to happen. But we're going to have to make the most of it."
Vernon said, "Last night, we were paid a visit by Arceus. Yes, that Arceus. He told the two of us that our ancient enemies, the Dark Three, had resurfaced and were making their move. As of yet, we don't know exactly what they're planning, but their end result is to destroy the multiverse and forge one great reality out of its remains. One where they are the masters, and I'm just going to say, we don't want them to be the masters of creation."
Everyone was quiet. Vernon continued, "Miss Melody and I, we're two of Arceus's elite allies. We are members of a secret defensive force known as the Guardians, and we are the defenders of the multiverse against its greatest threats."
The two of them glanced at each other, and in a swirl of fire and pink mist, they became a Victini and a Mew.
"We have been guarding the worlds for generations.", Vernon said, "Yesterday, our oldest enemy appeared, and Arceus demanded we needed to take drastic action. Apparently, there's some sort of prophecy saying that students of Perrington Elementary would be key to the next great battle. The Dark Three reacted faster than us, and all the other camps disappeared last night."
There was a ripple of shock through the crowd. Vernon continued, "Arceus insisted that we act fast, and had Mew cast a transformation spell to allow us to protect you and train you. By the way, she did not want to do this. But when your god demands something, you can't refuse it."
Zeke, who looked rather scary now, growled, "And how, exactly, is turning us into Pokemon against our will supposed to help us? I can barely move properly in this body!"
Vernon replied, "In the short term, yes, this may have been a mistake. But once we train you, you will be as strong as one of us Guardians, and therefore able to help us defeat the Dark Three and save reality."
There was a bunch of whispers and glances. This sounded like something right out of some book. We were being trained as heroes? But we were just kids!
Miss Melody said, "This is going to be a lot to take in. I trust that you'll all be able to get used to it eventually, though. I will ensure it."
Vernon added, "We'll be opening a portal in just a moment. This place is no longer safe; the Dark Three have found it and will eventually get through the wards. I do not want anyone here when that happens."
Miss Melody closed her eyes, and a soft glow started forming around her. The air shimmered behind her.
Just then, heavy footsteps started racing towards the beach. We all turned as the Janitor appeared, holding his mop apprehensively. Glaring at Vernon and Miss Melody, he growled, "So, what is the meaning of THIS?!"
Everyone was too shocked to reply. We had never heard the Janitor say anything other than "Murp", and had thought him incapable of it.
He continued, "Hoopa never ever suspected that Arceus would get THIS worried! You basically shouted to all the foes of the multiverse that you are growing weak and desperate!"
Did he just say Hoopa? And why did it sound like he was just as knowledgeable about this whole thing as the other teachers?
Vernon replied, "We did not have a choice. Anyways, you have some explaining to do as well! How do you know all of this?"
The Janitor replied, "Oh, that's easy. Hoopa was once one of you!"
In a poof of smoke, he was replaced with the confined form of Hoopa, clutching an ornate wooden staff shimmering with magic.
Miss Melody's eyes widened. "Hoopa!? I thought you had died!"
The Janitor/Hoopa replied, "Exile is not death! Hoopa has been watching the school ever since Arceus shunned Hoopa! A Guardian does not give up so easily, and Hoopa will not let these children go without Hoopa!"
Vernon frowned. "How can we trust you?"
Hoopa replied, "Hoopa is innocent. Hoopa has guarded the school for many years, Hoopa could've destroyed it whenever Hoopa liked! Hoopa does not trust Arceus, Hoopa will ensure the children do not get used and discarded, like so many others!"
I could sense there was a story here. I wondered what had happened between Hoopa and the other Guardians.
Miss Melody said, "I trust you, Hoopa. But be warned, we will be watching you."
Hoopa nodded. "Hoopa understands. Hoopa knows it will take time to prove Hoopa's innocence. Hoopa will now open a doorway to a secret training ground."
He slipped one of the golden rings off of his horns, and tossed it into the air. "To the Forgotten Court!"
The ring grew largely in size, and a blue vortex appeared in its center. Vernon said, "Hmmm, well, we were going to one of the versions of the Forgotten Court anyways. Let's hurry."
Hoopa nodded. "Hoopa already senses dark things approaching. Time to go!"
Vernon and Miss Melody flew into the vortex. Hoopa said, "Hoopa will hold open the gate while you go through! Hurry hurry!"
I tripped over my paws again as I hurried towards the portal. Around me, the other campers jumped through. Once I righted myself, I jumped through, curious about what was on the other side.
I was not expecting to splash into a pool of water.
I immediately panicked and started doggy-paddling to the shore. Thankfully, it was very close, and I dragged myself safely to land. As I sat there, trying to calm down, I looked around at our new surroundings.
It appeared to be a rather spacious cavern. Looking up, I couldn't see the ceiling in all the gloom. Looking back down, I noticed the pool was only a couple feet deep and was perfectly square. It reflected the light of a collection of floating blue spheres, evenly spaced throughout the cavern and providing a small amount of illumination.
There were some white water lilies floating in the pool. I had no idea how they could grow down here, but somehow they did, and added some mystical beauty to the area.
Looking around, I then realized that we seemed to be in a large man-made structure. Around us stood tall walls, with dark windows and a doorway on each of the four walls. Crumbling columns stood around us, and appeared to have once served the purpose of holding up a pavilion of some kind.
I got distracted from admiring the scenery when another golden ring opened up, dumping out a bunch of our stuff. No clothes or devices, but they were the only things missing. I was also glad to see that all our stuff had been dropped onto dry land.
The first ring shrank as Hoopa came out of the second one. He stated, "Hoopa figured you wanted these. All other things were returned to your homes."
I scurried over to the pile and found the bag that contained my notebooks. I was glad to see that they were all safe and accounted for. The only thing more valuable to me than them was my family.
Everyone else hurried to gather their things as well. It was a rather unusual sight, seeing all these Pokemon scrambling to gather the bags.
After that started calming down, Miss Melody (back in her human form, unlike Vernon) walked over and said, "We don't have much time to waste. We will need to train your skills before the Dark Three track us back down. First, let's try a practice battle to see if your abilities will naturally show themselves."
Suddenly Kai appeared in front of me. "I challenge you!", he shouted.
I was startled. "Wait, what!?", I exclaimed.
He replied, "Pikachu and Eevee are rivals! You're the first Eevee I saw, so I challenge you!"
"Surely you could choose someone else?", I asked desperately, "I've barely even figured out how to walk in this new form!"
"Too late!", he replied gleefully, "Don't worry, I don't know Thundershock or anything like that yet, so you won't be wrecked that fast."
Vernon commanded, "Everyone except Kai and Gavin, clear the battlefield! There needs to be plenty of space for them to fight!"
Everyone took their stuff and moved to the edges of the court. Vernon escorted us to opposite ends of the field, leaving the pool in between us. I tried desperately to come up with a plan, but my mind came up blank. I couldn't even remember what moves Eevee could learn, other than Tackle and Quick Attack.
Kai didn't look worried in the slightest. He rolled his neck, and cracked his knuckles. I didn't even know Pikachu had knuckles. I was doomed.
Laura shouted from the sidelines, "You can do it, Gavin!"
Brianna asked the crowd, "Who wants to bet on how much Kai will beat up my bro?"
Vernon floated above the center of the battlefield. "The rules are simple! First Pokemon to faint loses!"
I called out, "Is there a concede option?"
He replied, "There is no running from a Pokemon battle."
Well, shoot.
"Remember, this is a training battle, so focus on trying to use various moves.", Vernon continued, "Now, on the count of three, one, two, three! BATTLE!"
Kai immediately charged towards me, but when he tried to go on four legs to move faster, he tripped and rolled to the side. I immediately started running as far away from him as possible, still trying to come up with a plan.
Kai stood back up, and yelled, "Scared, are we?! Come back over here!"
"Not happening!", I replied.
Kai growled furiously, and I felt an unnatural surge of worry. There was also a flash of blue light around me and a sad "pew pew pew" sound.
"We have stat changes now?! Are you kidding me?!", I shouted angrily.
Vernon cheered, "Yes, it appears you guys can use moves now! That's a good sign!"
I growled, and the same noise and light appeared around Vernon. He crossed his arms and glared at me, but I dodged before the move hit.
"This is ridiculous.", I grumbled.
Kai raced up behind me, and I quickly turned around and leaped at him. I felt a surge of energy, and I rammed into him at high speeds, knocking him over.
"That was a Quick Attack, folks!", cheered Vernon.
Then I felt a static shock, and suddenly my muscles tensed up and crackled with electricity.
"And it appears to have triggered the Ability Static!", Vernon continued enthusiastically.
"Ack, I'm Paralyzed!", I cried, "This is so not fair! What's my ability?"
"Probably Run Away.", teased Kai, "Now, time for me to attack!"
His cheeks lit up, and he nuzzled me, which would've been cute and/or creepy if it wasn't actually an attack. I was zapped and stumbled back, electricity still flickering over me. I attempted to try another Quick Attack, but there was a loud buzz and my muscles convulsed, preventing me from moving.
"Could I get a Sitrus Berry or something?", I pleaded.
Vernon shook his head.
I stumbled closer to the pool, trying to get away from Kai. He grinned, and prepared to attack again, knowing I was mostly helpless to stop him. Glancing at the pool, I suddenly had an idea. I just hoped my muscles wouldn't betray me again when I tried it.
Kai charged, electricity crackling from his cheeks. I smiled inwardly, knowing that would make my plan easier. Right as he was about to hit me, I rolled aside, and Kai fell right into the pool.
There was a loud crackle, and lightning flickered over the pool, followed by Kai crying out in pain. The electricity faded, and Vernon declared, "Kai is unfit to-"
But then Kai leaped out of the pool, eyes blazing with fury. Literally. His fur was blackened, but he clearly wasn't done yet.. With a loud shout, he fired off a bolt of lightning point-blank at me.
The pain was intense. I spasmed frantically, and I could swear that, much like in a cartoon, my outline was black and everybody could see my skeleton. Then the shock ended, and I fell over, steaming. Kai fell on top of me, his eyes now cartoonish swirls.
Vernon said, "Well, that was interesting."
I wasn't sure what happened after that, because I promptly fainted.(-o-)
AN: This chapter might have been longer, but I decided to do more next time. Since the initial transformation arc is over, but there are still more slots available, I am introducing new ways to bring in the later characters. If you want to submit an OC to this story, here's how you can proceed.
In the backstory section of your character sheet, you can now add how they are transformed. Next chapter, I'll be introducing a new plot that can help with this, but you can also say the Dark Three have something to do with it or even do something brand new. This is a multidimensional adventure after all, and there's lots of ways to approach this!
I hope you all are enjoying the story so far, and as always, happy Pokemon hunting!
