John and Alba closed their eyes and waited to hit the ground and into a mud puddle when suddenly they felt themselves land in water. They opened their eyes realizing they were in a pond in the middle of a park and it was hot . They hid under water when they heard someone coming.
They climbed out and Alba grabbed a newspaper and read it It said the year was 1971. Back when Her dad was her age. She gave a page of newspaper to john and he wrapped it around his waist while as best as he could to cover himself and Alba held the 2 pages she had to cover her front but it didn't do a good job .
You can have mine John told her. No you need it she said.
Alba successfully tied the newspaper around her waist and chest and they went of.
They go a couple glances and giggles from bystanders but they hid in the Bushes the best they could. They got out of the park and onto the street.
The road hurt their feet but they had no choice but to continue on.
They got alot of looks in the street.
After all They both were wearing just newspapers to cover their nudity.
They Noticed a Cardboard box and hid inside.
They cut out some eye holes sat down for a few minutes.
We need to find some clothes John said. They suddenly noticed a outdoor market in a parking lot. Bingo they both said and snuck over there as discreet as possible .
They used the cardboard box as cover. They noticed a man selling kids clothes and snuck over to a bunch of boxes.
Alba threw a rock distracting the Vendor and they got out of the box and took some clothes .
Alba grabbed a button up shirt and frilly skirt and shoes John grabbed a shirt Jeans and sneakers. Hey ! The Vendor said and they ran off with him in pursuit.
They out of the market away from the Vendor but kept on running. Suddenly it started to rain. Their newspaper coverings were getting soggy and were falling apart. They ran to the nearest dry shelter which was a bathroom . By the time they got to a alley their newspapers they wore to cover themselves fell off.
Let's get dressed John said and Alba nodded .
They quickly put on the clothes they got and looked in the mirror. You look pretty John told her and she kissed him.
What do we do now he asked ? Alba thought for a moment and said. My dad's mother is singer in Chicago in this time we could go see her later but first I'm hungry.
Me too John said but we don't have any money.
Alba suddenly pulled out some cash. I took it from the shopkeeper. My dad taught me it's a skill you need when you time travel. Cool John said.
Alba snuck a umbrella from a person on a bench and they went to look for somewhere to eat.
They went to hotdog place and they bought 2 hot dogs . They then sat down and ate .
They then walked to the theater and bought tickets. Some people found it odd for two 8 year olds to be seeing the show on their own but shrugged it off.
They sat down and waited and 10 minutes later the show started. Alba's grandmother appeared on stage and it was a amazing show .
They then were walking out of the theater and stopped for icecream. John had cookie dough and Alba had Mint .
They suddenly heard a voice shouting hey! They turned around to find the Vendor that they stole clothes from.
I got you he said and they ran.
They ran with the vendor after them. They accidentally ran into a Alley and the man grabbed them. They tried punching and kicking when suddenly they felt light headed and the next thing they knew they were on a beach and naked again.
Are you alright ? John asked Alba nodded here head. They both realized that they needed to find clothes again especially in this hot weather. The looked around and noticed a girl around there age was in a outdoor stall taking off her bathing suit .
Alba dashed and quickly snatched the bathing suit from the ground before the girl noticed.
They ran behind some rocks and she put it on.
It was a pink one piece with a rainbow on the bathing suit.
How do I look ? she asked John showing of the bathing suit. You look good in that bathing suit he said . Thank you John she said.
Can you get me something to wear ? He asked crouching down . Of course Alba said .
I will find you something she then and walked off.
John saw there naked for a few minutes when Alba came back tossing him a speedo. It's all I could sneak she said.
Beggars can't be choosers John said slipping it on.
It will do for now. They walked around until they found a newspaper . Reading the date it said 1991 . Alba realized this was the year her mom was in college.
They suddenly noticed A younger Claire walk by in a bikini with her friends. They put some towels and umbrellas down and started to chat.
Its mom Alba said. They sat close to them as Claire and her friends giggled and talked.
John and Alba managed to sneak some money from people as well as a t shirt and they bought a baked pretzel at a vendor and sat down. They then played in the water.
They splashed each other for a few hours and lied down and took a nap hand in hand. When they got up they made sand castles .
They were covered in sand but they didn't care.
Young Claire spoke to them telling them that they were cute together and asked if they were siblings. They said no they were a couple.
They got a two boogie boards and they rode the waves on them for a few more hours. There was suddenly a big wave and it knocked them off their boards. They fell underwater and vanished.
Young Claire noticed along with a lifeguard.
They ran over to search for them in the water only to find the girls one piece bathing suit and the boy's speedo.
Could they have been time travelers ? Young Claire thought.
After falling underwater the next thing that John and Alba knew was that they landed in a puddle of mud. They were nude and they were covered in mud and sand. John got up and helped Alba to her feet. They looked around and found their parents were gone and it was raining.
They ran over to the back door and they opened the door and walked in. Claire suddenly came in the room surprised to find them covered in mudd and sand. She hugged them both and told John his mom went home for a little bit. They learned that they were gone the whole day which made sense.
They apologized for leaving muddy footprints on the ground but Claire understood saying it wasn't their fault that they were all muddy even though they had sand on them as well.
She took them upstairs and drew a bath for them.
She asked if they wanted to take turns taking a bath and they said no. After all they have seen each other naked when they time traveled. Claire understood and poured bubbles in.
Alba and John climbed in the bubble bath and relaxed while claire let them be.
They lied there and scrubbed themselves and John gave Alba a kiss.
Alba asked if John could wash her and John nodded. He poured water on her back and scrubbed while she did the same for him.
After getting all the mudd and sand off their bodies they washed their hair and lied in the tub for 20 minutes . Claire then came in and woke them up . She grabbed them both a bathrobe and John and Alba walked into her bedroom .
Alba slipped on a white sleeveless nightshirt over her body that went just below her waist. John found a t shirt and pajama bottoms. He thought Alba looked pretty in the nightgown.
Claire came in and asked if they were hungry and they said no. They sat on the couch and Claire asked where they went.
They told her that they went to Chicago and saw her grandmother sing then they went to the beach and saw a young Claire at the beach.
I remember that !she told I knew it was time travelers but I didn't know it was my own daughter and her friend She said.
They watched a movie then Alba went into her room to paint. John enjoyed watching her paint. They suddenly felt tired and decided to call it a day and climbed in bed and fell asleep.
The next morning they woke up and played for a little while until John's mom Jill picked him up. Alba and John said goodbye and they would see each other at school tomorrow.
As they drove home John told his mom everything.
