Shizuka sat with her new friends in a club room at Teitan Koko's that they had access to.
"Irene-chan, are you going to make the chocolate you give to some boy tomorrow?" Ayumi asked.
"How so tomorrow?" Genta asked.
"Don't you remember, Genta-kun? Tomorrow is February 14, and Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day is a celebration to be celebrated on February 14 in several countries", Mitsuhiko said. "On Valentine's Day, girls can give chocolate to the boy they consider as an expression of their feelings. In return, the boys give those girls a White Day, or March 14, a month after Valentine's Day, as a return gift for their own feelings".
"Oh yeah. That's how it was", Genta said.
"On Valentine's Day, you can also give chocolate to your friends. That's when it's a chocolate called Tomo-choco", Shizuka said. "Valentine's Day, and romance aren't really my thing."
"Why not?" Ayumi asked.
"I just haven't found the kind of boy I would be seriously interested in yet", Shizuka said.
"Really?!" Someone shouted from outside the room. Bam! The door to the room was pulled open, and Ran entered the room.
Ran was accompanied by a girl with short brown hair. He had just opened the door of the room. His skin was pale and his eyes were blue. She was skinny and wore a similar school uniform as Rani. He had a blue headband on his head. He was 16 years old. That girl looked at Shizuka curiously, and walked in front of Shizuka:
"So I'm not the only one who hasn't found a boyfriend for herself yet".
"Su-Suzuki-san, you're right, but did you hear that recent expression of mine?" Shizuka asked.
"Yes. It's nice to remember a friend on Valentine's Day too, but if you want a boyfriend, let me take care of that thing, and introduce you to some boys tomorrow. Suzuki Sonoko is ready to help those with love worries!" Sonoko said.
"How could I not notice that use?" Shizuka thought. He, and Ran had known Sonoko's since kindergarten, so they knew Sonoko's character quite well.
"Hey, how's it going Ran?" Sonoko asked.
"How about what?" Ran asked.
"Chocolate, of course! Valentine's Day is a big event that only happens once a year. Grab a guy's heart with chocolate that will melt him from the inside", Sonoko said.
"Uh...yeah..right", Ran said.
"You somehow look absent", Sonoko told Ran.
"Eh? Really?" Ran asked.
"I know! He's perfect for you", Sonoko said.
"Who is she?" Ran asked.
"Do you remember those two boys who met us at the coffee shop a while ago?" Sonoko asked. "They said they were medical students at Beikan University. Especially Minagawa-san. He's hot. And yeah, the other one was Wakamatsu-san. He's perfect for you".
"What?" Ran asked, looking a little hesitant.
"He seemed to like you a lot", Sonoko said.
"Would Sonoko look at the other boys with that eye, even if he found himself a regular boyfriend?" Shizuka thought.

Shizuka walked with her friends down the sidewalk towards home. They had just left school.
Then a brown car stopped in front of them. A tall, muscular boy emerged from the driver's seat. She had black hair, blue eyes, and blond skin. He was wearing a red top. He had a brown belt on his hips. He had white pants on his feet, and brown shoes. He looked 17 years old:
"Hey, Ran-san. I've been looking for you".
"Is that the Wakamatsu that Sonoko mentioned earlier?" Shizuka thought. "Maybe he's some stalker?"
"EH?!" Ran shouted a little nervously.
"GOOD TIMING", Sonoko said. "Right?"
"Ran-san, I'm coming here today because I have something I need to tell you", Wakamatsu said after bowing a little to Ran first.
"What?" Ran asked.
"Ran-san, I'm coming here today because I have something I need to tell you. Ran-san! Today I'm coming here to ask you on a date. Valentine's Day is tomorrow, can you go to them tomorrow with me please?" Wakamatsu asked.
"You seem to be pretty candid, don't you?" Shizuka asked Wakamatsu.
"Quite often", Wakamatsu said, looking at Shizuka for a moment, and then at Ran again.
"I realized a long time ago that some boys don't notice me when I'm with Ran. I'm honestly tired of it", Shizuka thought. "I mustn't think like this, because Ran is my friend!"
"Valentine's Day party?" Sonoko asked.
"Yes. There, a girl usually gives chocolate to a boy she likes, and if the boy accepts that girl's love, then he eats the chocolate he got from that girl right away", Wakamatsu said.
"Is Minagawa-San going to those parties?" Sonoko asked.
"Of course she comes to those parties. That party is held in her house", Wakamatsu said.
"Really! Then we go to those parties, and our new friends come to those parties too!" Sonoko said. "We six are sure to come!"
"Hey Sonoko!" Ran said a little embarrassed.
"Seriously? JESSSS! Thanks a lot!" Wakamatsu bowed slightly. Then he sat in the car. "Well, I'll pick you up tomorrow".
The man drove away.
"Hey hey", Sonoko blinked.
"Argh, why did you say yes without first asking me, and others?" Ran asked Sonoko.
"I knew it", Sonoko said.
"You knew what?" Ran asked.
"You like Araide-sensei", Sonoko said. "But he will not see you, for he will only consider you a child. You will remain committed to him, and therefore you will reject all the boys who admire you".
"Don't say such nonsense", Ran said. "Who told you I would like him?"
"You blink him with that eye every time you get a chance. So because he doesn't respond to your feelings, you can go to those parties, right? Namely to Valentine's Day parties?" Sonoko asked.
"Of course I go", Ran said.
"Yes! Just watch out for Minagawa Katsuhiko. I'm going to make you love me with my chocolate!" Sonoko said, and the fiery aura seemed to surround Sonoko.
"Sonoko is on fire", Ran said.
"Maybe you'll find yourself a boyfriend at tomorrow's party, too, Irene-chan", Sonoko said.
"There will probably be others besides us at those parties", Shizuka said.
"The bigger the number of guests there will be tomorrow, the better, because then at least there is at least a choice", Sonoko said.
The weather was sunny.

Shizuka and Ran were in the kitchen making chocolate.
"Who are you making chocolate for?" Shizuka asked.
"I don't know yet. What about you?" Ran asked.
"I'm making Tomo-choco chocolate for my new friends", Shizuka said.
"Thoughtful, but why don't you make chocolate for some boy?" Ran asked.
"Valentine's Day, and romance aren't really my thing", Shizuka said. "By the way, what kind of first impression did you get from Wakamatsu when you first met him then at the cafe mentioned by Sonoko-san?"
"Pretty candid", Ran said.
"She also seems to be too confident that you're the right girl for her. So do I have to look tomorrow at some self-satisfied bundle of muscle attempts to hit my best friend?" Shizuka asked himself.

"Cheers!" Everyone said sitting in the living room of Katsuhiko's home.
There were food, and drinks on the tables.
Sonoko was wearing a blue blouse, and a white miniskirt on her hips. He had a blue headband on his head, and white socks on his feet. He had a brown belt on his hips.
Ran wore a yellow blouse with a green jacket on. She had a blue miniskirt on her hips, and a brown belt. He wore yellow stockings on his legs.
Shizuka was wearing a purple sweater, and black pants on his feet, and white socks. He had put his hair on the ponytail with a purple hair swab. He had previously put his brown shoulder bag on the chest of drawers on the right side of the room.
"Well, introduce ourselves, Beika University Tennis Team, to our guests, Mōri Ran-san and Suzuki Sonoko-san. Minagawa, you first", Wakamatsu said.
"There are four other guests here besides them. Some boys really don't notice me when I'm with Ran. I can't think about that, because Ran is my friend", Shizuka thought.
"Ok. I'm the captain, Minagawa Katsuhiko. I'm glad to meet you", Said the 17-year-old boy. She was skinny and her skin was pale. He had black hair. She was wearing a light brown blouse with a brown jacket on top. He had brown houst on his feet, and white socks. He had a brown belt on his hips, and a black tie around his neck.
"Really?" Sonoko asked. He then grabbed Katsuhiko's left hand. "I'm happy too!"
"Calm down, calm down", Wakamatsu said.
"I'm Tekiya Kaori", Said the brown-haired girl. "Don't get too excited just because you're young, Sonoko-san".
The girl in question was wearing a purple blouse with a blue jacket on. He had a brown belt on his hips, and blue pants on his legs, and white socks. He was skinny and had blue eyes. He was 16 years old.
"I'm so unhappy I'm so beautiful", Sonoko said to Ran. "That's why even other women are jealous of me".
"Heh heh", Ran laughed nervously.
"Hey Naomichi, you're next", Wakamatsu said. He looked at a round, dark-haired boy with glasses. The boy seemed indignant.
"Heck, you're so antisocial", Wakamatsu said.
Naomichi glanced at Wakamatsu.
Naomichi had pale skin, and blue eyes. He was wearing a gray jacket with a black blouse underneath. He had a brown belt on his hips, and blue pants on his legs, and white socks.
"I am Watanabe Yoshimi", said the brown-haired woman. "Nice to meet you".
Yoshimi wore an orange blouse with a pink jacket on. She had a brown belt on her hips, and a purple miniskirt. He had or on his feet orange socks. She was skinny and her skin was pale. He had blue eyes. He was 17 years old.
"I'm the last one. Very nice and strong, but also very sensitive. I'm Wakamatsu Toshihide, and everyone calls me Wakamatsu", Wakamatsu said.
"Heh heh!" Some laughed.
"Please", One woman brought food to the table. "Here's the main course".
"Thank you very much, Mrs. Minagawa", Wakamatsu said.
"Are you the mother of Minagawa-san? You are so young", Sonoko said.
"Oh, you're good to talk", The woman said, looking flattered.
"Hey, onee-san!" The little boy told Shizuka when he entered the living room. "Do you want to play with me?"
"Susumu, go to your room!" Minagawa said to the boy. "You're a nuisance here".
"Eh?! Minagawa-san has a little brother? How cute", Ran said.
"Susumu doesn't look like Katsuhiko at all", Shizuka thought after realizing the matter.
Then Katsuhiko lit a tobacco with a lighter, and started smoking tobacco.
"But he doesn't look at you at all", Sonoko said to Katsuhiko after looking at Susumu, and Katsuhiko.
"ALRIGHT!" Katsuhiko shouted after later putting a can of beer on the table. "It's time for someone to show us a show. Naomichi, do something. Are you deaf? Entertain us".
Naomichi looked a little embarrassed:
"I'm not very good at things like that".
"What?" Katsuhiko asked. "Can't you hear what I'm saying? Your face makes me feel bad".
Katsuhiko got up to stand, and walked to the side.
"Isn't Minagawa-san a little nasty?" Ran asked Sonoko.
"That's the way a man should be", Sonoko said.
"Oh play hard to achieve?" Shizuka asked.
"Yes, just because it makes hitting him appropriately challenging. Anyway, did you bring chocolate?" Sonoko asked.
Shizuka, and Ran nodded.
"Just look. When Minagawa-san eats my chocolate, she's mine!" Sonoko picked up an orange gift wrap with chocolate wrapped around a yellow ribbon.
"It probably has poison in it", Shizuka thought.
"I, Suzuki Sonoko, iam going to go now", Sonoko said, standing up.
Surprisingly, Kaori stood up like Sonoko, and walked towards Katsuhiko, holding chocolate wrapped in pink gift wrap in her left hand.
"What are your hobbies Ran-san?" Wakamatsu asked. "It has to be drinking tea, or arranging flowers for someone as beautiful as you".
"I'm the captain of the Teitan Koko's karate team", Ran said.
"Why would Ran-san engage in such a wild hobby?" Wakamatsu asked.
"No, because it's really karate", Ran said.
"You have to joke okay?" Wakamatsu asked. "Hah hah!"
"Heh", Ran laughed indignantly.
"That bundle of muscles still ends up in a full-body pain because of the treatment he received from Ran, if that bundle of muscles irritates Ran properly!" Shizuka thought.
"By the way, Ran-san, your father is a detective, but what about your mother?" Shizuka asked.
"My mother is a lawyer", Ran said. "Oh yeah. You haven't met my mother yet, Irene-chan. My mother is Kisaki Eri, and she's known as the "Hōtei no joō".
"Ahaa," Shizuka said, glancing at Wakamatsu:
"That bunch of lish seems to judge women by their appearance. A superficial, underestimating muscle bunch will be frightened once again if he annoys Ran in some way".
Katsuhiko came out of the toilet, closed the toilet door, and saw Kaori:
"Kaori".
"Don't bully Naomichi that way", Kaori said.
"I can't stand the way he thinks he's the most unhappy boy", Katsuhiko said.
"You've changed. You've become more violent, and more desperate," Kaori said.
"What do you know?!" Katsuhiko asked.
"I know you well. We're friends of childhood. Behave properly", Kaori said, handing out her gift to Katsuhiko. "Are you taking this?"
"Don't do this", Katsuhiko said. "I just want to be friends with you".
"I understand. So you really like Yoshimi-san", Kaori said.
They did not see Sonoko standing around the corner, who had heard the whole conversation.
Sonoko returned to the living room, and sat next to Ran, and Shizuka. He looked like he had sold his land.
"What happened?" Ran asked.
"Devil!" Sonoko tore the paper of his gift open, and ate the chocolate he made at his anger.
Shizuka, and Ran looked at Sonoko in surprise.
"I guess it's going wrong!" Shizuka thought.
"Should be ok if I hold him by the hand. Yeah! Here I go!" Wakamatsu thought, looking at Ran. He moved his right index finger, and his thumb toward Ran:
"You're cute. I, Ran-san..."
Wakamatsu accidentally pinched Shizuka's butt.
"You pervert too!" Shizuka shouted, kicking Wakamatsu at the wall to the left of the room. Dhaks!
"Ouch!" Wakamatsu shouted in pain.
"What happened, Irene-chan?" Ran asked without believing his eyes.
"He just jumped on my ass!" Shizuka said.
"It was an accident!" Wakamatsu said nervously.
"Did that jerk just try to grab Ran's hand, and possibly kiss Ran just now? Problematic guy. That's why he doesn't seem to have a girlfriend. Now I understand why she wants Ran to be her boyfriend", Shizuka thought.
"Susumu! How many times do I have to tell you not to eat sweets! Your cavities aren't healed yet", Susumu's mother said to her son, holding the chocolate in his right hand.
"But...Kaori-neechan gave it to me", Susumu said. "Yääh!"
Everyone looked at Susumu curiously.
Kaori stood in the backyard of Minagawa's house as Naomichi walked towards Kaori.
"Kaori", Naomichi said.
Kaori turned around, wiping his right corner of his eye with his right hand.
"It was Katsuhiko, wasn't it?" Naomichi asked. "He did something for you".
"It has nothing to do with you", Kaori said.
"He's a worthless person", Naomichi said. "There's no reason you should get hurt by what he says".
"Leave me alone!" Kaori shouted.
Naomichi looked nervous at first, and then angry:
"Katsuhiko!"
(Later)
"Minagawa-san! Go on!" Sonoko encouraged.
Minagawa, and Wakamatsu twisted their hands on the table in the living room as the others looked at them.
In the end, Wakamatsu won.
"Heh heh! You see! You're ten years too early in the attempt to challenge me to a twist", Wakamatsu said.
"He really seems to be full of himself", Shizuka thought.
Katsuhiko stood up:
"Everyone is good somewhere. Ran-san, you have to be restless when a person in love with you is someone whose brain is made of muscle".
"Minagawa, are you suing the dispute?" Wakamatsu asked, standing up.
"What's wrong with telling the truth?" Katsuhiko asked.
"What?!" Wakamatsu asked, and grabbed Katsuhiko's jacket:
"You're always like that. Why don't you ever think about other people's feelings?"
"Oh you have feelings?" Katsuhiko asked. "You're so full of yourself that it's no wonder the girls always reject you(The thing I invented myself for the cause of Wakamatsu's monotony)".
"Devil!" Wakamatsu shouted.
"Ok, stop that!" Katsuhikko's mother said as she entered the living room. He carried in his hands a tray with coffee cups and a cake:
"Why don't you calm down a little?"
"Let me go!" Katsuhiko pushed Wakamatsu's hands off his jacket.
"Hey Katsuhiko!" Yoshimi said, and held in his right hand the chocolate wrapped in light blue gift wrap. There was a pink ribbon around that gift wrap.
What?! Are you going to lecture me too?!" Katsuhiko shouted.
"No, I'm not going to", Yoshimi said.
"Pretty brazen!" Shizuka thought.
Katsuhiko's mother put the cake plates on a nearby table while the others sat at the table:
"Ok, so take the cake now".
"I've been waiting for this", Wakamatsu said. "Your handmade cakes!"
"I hope you like it", Katsuhiko's mom said.
"Of course! Itadakimasu!" Wakamatsu said, and took one piece of cake.
"Heh heh!" Katsuhiko's mother laughed flattered, and then she poured coffee for everyone in coffee cups.
"Onee-chan, is that cake good?" Susumu asked Ran, and Shizuka.
"Yeah", Ran, and Shizuka said. "This cake, and the coffee are good".
"Bitter", Susumu said after drinking the coffee in Ran's coffee cup.
"Don't drink his coffee", Susumu's mother said, handing Susumu a small piece of cake with a spoon. "Here, eat the cake".
Susumu ate the cake with satisfaction, and Ran took back his coffee cup.
"He used to forbid Susumu from eating the chocolate Kaori had previously given to Susumu, saying that Susumu's cavities have not yet healed, but now he still lets Susumu eat the cake", Shizuka thought after noticing the matter.
"Look, aren't you eating the cake?" Yoshimi asked after noticing the matter.
"Yeah. I don't like sweet", Katsuhiko took a cigarette case from the pocket of his jacket. He took one piece of tobacco from the box, and put it in his mouth. He then put the case back in his pocket, and took the lighter from there, smoking a cigarette. He closed the lid of the lighter, and put the lighter back in his pocket.
"Don't you think you smoke a little too much?" Yoshimi asked.
"Shut up!" Katsuhiko shouted. Then, surprisingly, he looked a little unwell.
"Looks like I'm a little unwell. I'm going out to get some fresh air", Katsuhiko stood up. He picked up his haircut again to find it empty:
"Damn! It's empty".
Surprisingly, Naomichi stood up, and walked in front of Katsuhiko, handing Katsuhiko his own cigarette case, which made Katsuhiko look at Naomichi a little surprised.
"Here, take my cigarette", Naomichi said.
"Katsuko smoke tobacco quite a lot. How well do you watch you get along with your friends?" Shizuka thought.
Katsuhiko took Naomich's cigarette case, and walked out, pushing open the glass sliding door of the living room as she entered the backyard of her home.
Yoshimi stood up, holding the gift he meant to Katsuhiko in his hands as he watched Katsuhiko out.
Others stared at Yoshimi curiously.
"So Yoshimi likes Katsuhiko", Wakamatsu said. "I was wondering what's so good about Katsuhiko. Well anyway...so Ran-san. Isn't it n chocolate delivery should happen soon?"
"Eh?" Ran asked.
"Fortunately, Sonoko didn't arrange a meeting for me with that Wakamatsu. I guess Wakamatsu can expect not only full-body plaster but also whistling", Shizuka thought, and walked with her new friends to the corner on the right side of the room. Shizuka then took out a paper bag from his shoulder bag on top of a nearby chest of drawers, from which he took out small plastic bags containing chocolate muffins he had made yesterday, on which he had written the names of his new friends in different colored icings:
"Please", Shizuka said.
"Thank you", Shōnen Tantei-dan said.
"Please", Ayumi gave Shizuka a white chocolate muffin wrapped in a plastic bag.
"Thank you", Shizuka ate chocolate, and smiled gratefully. Then he walked in front of Ran, and Sonoko, and gave them chocolate muffins too. "You're welcome".
"Oh. You made us Tomo-choco chocolate too. Thank you", Ran said.
"Sure, because you're my friends", Shizuka said.
"Thank you. This cheers me up a bit because I failed earlier", Sonoko said.
"How come?" Ayumi asked.
"I used to try to give Katsuhiko chocolate, but Kaori tried the same, but Katsuhiko rejected him", Sonoko said after eating his chocolate muffin.
"Katsuhiko it seems to be be quite a heartbreaker", Shizuka thought. "That's why Susumu got chocolate from Kaori earlier. So that chocolate was meant for Katsuhiko, and Kaori decided to give that chocolate to Susumu after he was turned down".
Wakamatsu still flashed Ran.
"That guy looks at Ran with that eye, and doesn't even think there's others here now. Annoying guy. How would he react to that if he realized Ran was interested in Araide-sensei?" Shizuka thought.
"Kaori-san, how well does Katsuhiko really get along with his friends?" Shizuka went with his new friends to talk to Kaori.
"He's more violent today, and more desperate in his speeches. I'm a friend of his childhood, so I easily noticed he changed with one incident. That's exactly why he seems to like Yoshimi-san. Yoshimi-san looks just like..." Kaori was saying.
"Iiiiiiiiik!" Yoshimi cried out suddenly from the yard, and everyone was nervous about it.
"Katsuhiko is...Katsuhiko is..." Yoshimi said, running near the door, pointing his left index finger to the left side of the yard.
Everyone ran to the yard to see that Katsuhiko had fallen on the lawn.
"Katsuhiko, Katsuhiko, Katsuhiko!" Katsuhiko's mother shouted, bowing beside Katsuhiko, hugging Katsuhiko, crying.
"Ran-san, call the police, and the ambulance here", Shizuka told Ran.
"ALRIGHT!" Ran said.
"Katsuhiko", Katsuhiko's mother said.
"Mrs. Minagawa", Wakamatsu bent down behind Katsuhiko's mother, and put his hand on her shoulders. He then helped the woman stand up.
"He may have a comforting side, but he's still superficial", Shizuka thought.
That's when Shizuka saw that a gift sheet, a ribbon, and a chocolate bar on top of the gift paper had been opened in the country near Katsuhiko, which was missing a couple of pieces. There was still smoking tobacco in Katsuhiko's left hand. And the other piece of that tobacco was near Katsuhiko's hand.
(Later)
"Katsuhiko-san just died a moment ago", Commissioner Megure said. "He looked dead from poisoning by some agricultural chemicals. Watanabe Yoshimi-san, he died right after he ate the chocolate he got from you before, right?"
Everyone was in the living room, and Commissario Megure was currently interrogating Yoshimi, who was sitting on the couch, about past events.
Police were currently outside conducting investigations.
"Yes", Yoshimi said.
"This is a common occurrence", Kogorō said, surprisingly standing behind Megure.
"What?!" Megure asked a little frightened. "Why are you here?"
"I came here after my daughter called me just now, and now the famous detective Mōri Kogorō has arrived. You are the criminal we are looking for!" Kogorō said, pointing to Yoshimi.
Yoshimi looked nervous.
"You put the poison in the chocolate you gave to the victim before, and you killed the victim. The cause could have been related to love difficulties. It becomes certain after we've tested the chocolate you previously gave the victim for the toxins in it", Kogorō said.
"No, you're wrong. It's not me! It's not me!" Yoshimi began to cry, and Kaori comforted Yoshimi.
"Yoshimi-san", Kaori said.
"If Yoshimi-san is a criminal, then it's far too easy. Not only did the victim eat here, but everyone here ate the same food as the victim. Megure took out of his jacket pocket the tobacco that had previously burned in Katsuhiko's hand, which was now inside the plastic bag:
"So this is a cigarette found at the crime scene".
"It's true that there's a way to put poison in a part of a cigarette", Kogorō said.
"I saw it! Before Minagawa-san went out, Naomichi-san gave a cigarette to Minagawa-san", Sonoko pointed to Naomichi, standing on the other side of the room, with his left index finger.
Naomichi retreated, a little nervous, and dropped the tobacco in his mouth on the floor.
"N-Naomichi...You never really liked Katsuhiko, but was it you?" Wakamatsu asked. "Was it you?!"
"Did you?!" Megure asked Naomichi. "We'll know sooner or later if we check the cigarette we found earlier in the yard of this house".
"It's true. I did it! I've always hated him! That bastard constantly mocked me, and on top of that, he insulted Kaori's feelings. So I put poison in the cigarette filter I gave earlier to Katsuhiko", Naomichi said.
"Filter?" Shizuka thought. And then he remembered the commissioner's earlier display of tobacco.
"No, because it's wrong. He's not a murderer", Shizuka thought, looking at Naomichi.
Click a click! There was a dish-like sound from the kitchen.
