Gavin's POV
Everyone fell out of the portal in a colossal heap, of which I was near the bottom of.
Gasping for air, I desperately wriggled free of the pile and ended up flopping face first into warm sand. Pulling myself to my feet, I noticed a deathly pale man staring at us, eyes wide in terror.
He was somewhat oddly dressed, with a white coat and a purple beanie, both of which looked handmade. There were three Pokeballs on his belt, but they were made of wood and had strange metal latches on them.
So, it appeared we were in a Pokemon world now. That would be awesome, except for the fact that WE were Pokemon, and the people here would be able to try and catch us!
I did the first thing that came to mind. I held up my paws and yelled, "Don't shoot!"
The strange man whispered, "It talks...", before his eyes promptly rolled up and he fainted.
"You think we scared him?", asked Kai, walking over.
"Duh!", yelled Janet, "What are you, an idiot?"
Kai's cheeks lit up with electricity. "Watch it, lady."
"Who is this dude?", asked Mia, who walked over to the unconscious man. "He seems familiar, but I can't place it..."
"Isn't he from that trailer for that new game?", asked Peter, "The professor guy?"
Mia nodded. "Why, so it is! Did we get teleported to a new Pokemon game!? That's so cool!"
"NOT cool!", replied Akio, "We're freaking Pokemon! You know what people do with Pokemon in this world! I will NOT get put in a Pokeball by some stranger!"
Miss Melody helpfully suggested, "I could teach you guys five tricks to escape from Pokeballs."
Akio grinned. "Sounds great to me!"
Kai poked the unconscious professor. "Would you like me to wake him up?"
"Um, what do you have in mind-", started Mia.
"WAKE UP!", Kai yelled, electrocuting the professor within an inch of his life.
"AAAAAAGHH!", yelled the professor, leaping to his feet.
Kai grinned. "Works first time, just like the anime."
The professor looked at all of us, and looked rather woozy. But to his credit, he didn't faint again.
"Um...hello.", he whispered. "You're not going to kill me are you?"
Vernon replied, "Only if you make me really, really cranky."
Miss Melody shook her head. "No, we aren't. Hello sir, I am sorry for any fright our sudden arrival may have caused. But I promise you that we have no malicious intent."
"Oh good. I was worried for a second...", replied the professor.
Kai crossed his arms and stepped up to the professor's feet. "So, who are you, and where are we?"
The professor answered nervously, "Um, I'm Professor Laventon. You've landed near Jubilife Village, in the region of Hisui."
"Jubilife Village? I've heard of Jubilife CITY, but not a village.", Simon commented.
"Don't you get it? We traveled back in time!", exclaimed Mia, "This was before it became a city!"
The professor looked pale again. "So you traveled through the space-time rift to get here?!"
"What space-time rift?", asked Kayla.
Hoopa added, "Hoopa's rings could be space-time rifts. But Hoopa suspects Dialga and Palkia would claim copyright and sue Hoopa."
Professor Laventon looked rather perplexed. "I'm...not positive about what you just said. But for your information..."
He whirled around and pointed a shaky finger up at the top of a huge mountain in the distance. "THAT is the space-time rift!"
It was a large black hole in the sky, crackling with white lightning and strange lights.
"Cool!", exclaimed Eddie.
Vernon smiled slightly. "Ah, Mount Coronet...me and the other Guardians used to have such wild parties there."
Miss Melody looked astonished. "What!? But I never got an invitation!"
Vernon looked bashful. "Well, um, it's because..."
"Simple.", Hoopa interjected, "You were too mom-like for them to want to invite you, for fear you'd crash the fun."
Miss Melody looked frustrated. "What!? No I wasn't!"
"Do you we really have to have this argument now?", pleaded Vernon, "There are other people here."
Miss Melody crossed her arms. "Hmph! Fine. But don't think I'll forget about it anytime soon."
Professor Laventon seemed only more perplexed.
It was at that moment he seemed to remember something.
"Ack! I completely forgot what I was doing here! I had recently obtained three rather troublesome Pokemon, and they ran away from me! Please, if you strangers could be of any help, I would appreciate it!", cried the professor.
Sherlock promptly took out a large briefcase and a magnifying glass, then started searching the area. He dusted the ground with a white powder. He hmmed and hawed, while he took notes on the area and made several glorious revelations.
Finally, he pointed down the dirt path ahead, saying, "Your Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott made a U-turn and are hiding at the training course ahead."
"Astounding!", cried the professor, "How did you do that?!"
"College, my dear Laventon.", stated Sherlock.
Zoe snickered.
"Come, the Pokemon's afoot!", Sherlock declared, and immediately set off down the path. We all promptly followed, eager to explore this new world.
We soon came across a large rock, around which were some smoldering bushes, a rustling tree, and a small pond.
"Alright, you little rascals, show yourselves!", shouted Laventon, "We've found you!"
There was some giggling, but none of the Pokemon showed their faces.
"Ack, they're not coming! Whatever shall I do?", wailed Laventon.
Akio rose an eyebrow. "You're really clueless, aren't you?"
"Yes!", Laventon cried.
We frowned, glanced at each other, and shrugged.
Zeke cupped his wings around his jaws and yelled, "Last chance for you to show yourselves! If you don't, I promise you that you WILL regret it!"
There was some whispering ahead of us, but no Pokemon showed themselves.
"Don't say we didn't warn you...", muttered Zeke, "Alright, guys, let's rustle 'em out."
Fiona immediately charged the tree, spinning her legs around and kicking it with all her might. Some strange brown nuts fell out, as well as a startled Rowlet.
"Aw, shoot-", it started, before Fiona started barraging it with her kicks. Kayla yelled a battlecry and joined in on it.
Sherlock calmly slipped one of the Pokeballs off Laventon's belt and tossed it at the Rowlet, catching it instantly with a puff of steam.
"Whoa, that's weird.", said Eddie, "Does that mean the Rowlet got cooked?"
Laventon shook his head. "No, that's just a way to signal it's been caught. Two more to go."
We raced towards the pond next. Markus pressed his hands together, and promptly jumped in. Sherlock activated some sort of scuba suit inside his coat, and jumped in after him. After a few minutes, the two leaped out, wrestling with an Oshawott.
Joel immediately fired off a Razor Leaf, while Zoe, Zola, and Akio conjured the illusion that there was a whole herd of Shaymins. The Oshawott fainted, whether from the Razor Leaf or the sheer terror of being surrounded in Grass-type Mythicals, I wasn't sure.
Laventon returned Oshawott to its Pokeball. "Alright, only one more-"
"I surrender!", squeaked a terrified voice, and the Cyndaquil ran out of hiding, its stubby arms held up.
Laventon returned it to its Pokeball. "Well, I can see that you are all quite capable! Hmm, perhaps...but will they listen?"
"What are you talking about?", asked Miss Melody.
Laventon replied, "I believe you all could be of good help to the village. Come with me, and we can speak to the Galaxy Team about it."
Miss Melody nodded. "Sounds like a decent plan, seeing as we have nothing else in mind. Let's go!" (-o-)
AN: First chapter of this arc complete! Next time, we shall pay our first visit to Jubilife Village! As well as finally get Sherlock's TF underway...
