Okay, so it's probably obvious who's going to win. But it's going to be awesome anyway!
Maybe? I don't think I'm the best with combat scenes. (-o-)
Barry's POV
The mech suit ahead of us activated a purple forcefield, then readied its many guns. Its four legs clanked against the ground, leaving small craters with each step.
I readied my pincers and tail, knowing that this fight was going to be nowhere near easy.
Vernon was glowing brightly, filling us all with some of his limitless energy. Everyone readied themselves for battle, as the mech charged up its weapons.
Then the battle began.
The mech immediately started barraging us with rapid-fire lasers. Will leaped forward and absorbed some of them, but I could see him wincing as they scorched his red fur.
Hoopa teleported behind the mech and shot it with a beam of energy, but it was reflected off the shield and sent into the sky. A large mechanical arm appeared from behind the mech, grabbing Hoopa and smashing him repeatedly into the ground. Hoopa struggled before he finally teleported himself out.
Miss Melody yelped as an electrified net suddenly appeared above her. She quickly turned into an Onix, and tore her way free.
I jumped and glided at the shield, but when I touched it there was a loud crackle and I was launched back. Fiona and Kayla seemed to have also learned of this when they tried to use their martial arts to attack it.
Lulu had her eyes closed as she seemed to be trying to focus on something, and she didn't even dodge as the guns turned towards her. However, Gavin leaped in just in time and pushed her out of the way, causing both of them to tumble to safety behind Kyle, who was currently making a thick wall of ice.
Seria screamed with rage, and the surrounding terrain rose up in response. She began to barrage the mech's shield with trees, rocks, chunks of machine wreckage, purple-armored troopers, random Pokemon, and psychic bursts. The mech turned its weapons towards her, but Miss Melody summoned a forcefield of her 9wn separating us from it.
"We're going to need to DPS it down!", shouted Peter, "Tanks need to taunt! Healers, do we have healers?"
"What language are you speaking?!", cried Steven.
Peter groaned.
Eddie asked, "You said you needed someone to taunt? I got it!"
He waved his paw at the mech (still with a disco shoe on it), and made a menacing face. "Why, you, gigantic smelly bug-eyed rusty stupid son of a junk heap! You're not even worth the stink from my rear!"
Dr. X yelled, "How dare you!? I am a prestigious scientist of the Genesis Corps! I'll show you how you should treat someone of my station!"
Eddie grinned at us. "Taunted!"
Dr. X roared in fury and started firing all his weapons at Eddie. Yet somehow the Shinx dodged around every shot.
"Ha! You couldn't even shoot an elephant ten inches from your face!", Eddie taunted.
Peter shouted, "Focus your attacks on the shield! Let's take advantage of the situation while Eddie draws the attacks!"
Dr. X seemed to hear him, though, and started diverting his weapons back at us. I leaped to the ground, narrowly avoiding some of the lasers.
"How about we NOT tell him our strategy!?", yelled Janet.
"Yeah!", agreed Akio.
Zoe smirked. "X-man, look behind you!"
Dr. X swerved around to find a gigantic Guzzlord charging at him. But he fired at it with his lasers, and the illusion vanished.
"Nice try!", he yelled.
"Oh, that's not what you should've been worrying about.", Zoe replied.
Zeke and Rei slammed into the shield, and with a massive explosion of fire and lightning, Dr. X was blasted off his feet. His shield flickered, but unfortunately remained strong.
Markus and Joel appeared from the shadows, attacking with leaves and bubbles before disappearing again. Mia lit up the area with a Flamethrower, which was outshine by Fiona's. The forcefield was growing dimmer, but remained intact.
The mech stood itself back up, and a large hatch appeared in its torso. It began humming and glowing brightly, which I immediately knew was not something we wanted to get hit by.
"Dodge!", yelled Wendell, right as a massive laser beam tore its way through the battlefield, melting the ground and dissolving the scrap metal.
"I will destroy you fools!", yelled Dr. X.
"Taunt!", yelled Eddie, wiggling his butt at Dr. X.
"Graaaaah!", Dr. X roared, rotating his laser to hit Eddie.
But it fizzled out as soon as it would have reached him.
"Gah!", the scientist yelled. He grabbed a USB cable and plugged it into the laser cannon, slowly charging it back up.
The crazed scientist pressed a few buttons, and two rocket launchers rose out from the mech's shoulders, which began firing off in random directions. Everyone panicked and started running around, dodging the explosions.
Jack and Draco simultaneously cast a spell that started taking out each of the rockets before they got close. Dr. X cursed and started setting up counter-measures of his own. The two spellcasters countered it, so Dr. X once again countered the counter.
This went on for about five minutes, before Sherlock suddenly appeared, eyes glowing with suppressed anger. He raised his claws, which somehow were still wearing his gauntlet, and jabbed them into the shield. The shield sparked, then exploded, causing the mech to fall over and stars to swirl above it.
"Now's our chance! Hit it with all we've got!", shouted Peter.
I leaped at the mech and started tearing at the plates with my pincers. My fellow students joined in, even though we were having little affect. But then a shockwave blasted us off, and the mech stood back up.
"My mech only has one weakness. You will never be able to exploit it!", Dr. X cried.
Sherlock chuckled, "I am two steps ahead of you, sir."
Dr. X growled and continued shooting at us.
We fired back with our own attacks. Dents were forming in the mech's plating, courtesy of Seria's raging barrage, and scorch marks from the fire attacks were appearing across its surface. Miss Melody and Hoopa were working together to try and overwhelm the pilot with their psychic attacks, but he was remaining surprisingly strong.
Dr. X started firing up his laser again, and I noticed Sherlock grinning underneath his helmet. He started charging up a glowing multicolored orb in front of his mouth, staring directly at the laser cannon.
Dr. X fired, the beam of plasma hurtling right for Sherlock. At the same time, the secret agent unleashed a Hyper Beam.
The two attacks collided, and struggled to overwhelm the other. The light being produced was blinding. It seemed that neither was winning.
Eddie then said, "Hey there, slimy slippery goat-kissing bucket-kicking egg-headed ugly-faced creeper! I'm still taunting you!"
"What!?", cried Dr. X, turning towards him. This of course meant his laser was no longer countering Sherlock's.
In a massive explosion, the Hyper Beam slammed into the open hatch, causing guns and plating and secret snacks to fly everywhere. The mech crumpled, steaming, and we advanced upon it.
Dr. X struggled in his seat, coughing. Miss Melody floated over to him and asked, "Anything to say for yourself?"
"You...haven't...won...", muttered the scientist. He was fumbling with a latch.
Seria yelled, "I will claim his life!" She lifted up one of the hovertanks and sent it flying right for the mech.
At that moment Dr. X pressed a big red button. He was sent flying off to space in an ejector seat, right as the tank hit the mech and crushed it like an aluminum can.
At the same time, the mech started glowing yellow, then orange, then red. Vernon barely had time to summon a shield around us before the mech exploded in light, heat, and mushroom clouds.
Plural.
As the aftershocks faded and my eyes recovered, I noticed the villagers had gathered around us. Cyllene looked down at us, then said, "Congratulations. You have completed my trial. Come, I believe that you have earned a good meal...and Beni owes me a bet." (-o-)
AN: Another chapter done and dusted! Next time, we will begin the first mission of our heroes as Survey Corps, as well as (potentially) reveal the last OC I received for the story!
