AN: And we're back with another chapter! Not too much happens yet, although we're going to meet our favorite axe bug soon! Wonder how our heroes will fare?

As for that new OC...wait and see.

Let's get this chapter underway now! (-o-)

Mia's POV

We all excitedly followed Cyllene back into the village at the promise of food. As soon as we entered, though, we ran into our new friends Laventon, Akari, and Rei (or Bob).

"Hello, how are all of you doing? Completed the trial?", asked Laventon.

"Flawlessly.", replied Janet, smirking.

Sherlock stated, "I believe that would not have been the case without me."

"Or me!", added Eddie, doing a backflip just because.

Laventon smiled. "Splendid! Breakfast is on me."

Bob said, "Uh, professor, do you really think that's-"

"Oh, nothing wrong to treating them with Beni's cooking!", interrupted Laventon, "His potato mochi really is something to faint for."

"What even is potato mochi?", whispered Erik.

"Come, come!", Laventon said, "Beni's inn is just this way. You're in for quite a treat!"

Akari glanced at us and shrugged. We all followed the professor to one of the few shops along the main street, one with a large assortment of tables and benches.

Kyle promptly broke one by sitting on it.

"Oh dear, these cybernetic augments and metal plates make me quite heavy.", he muttered.

Zeke glanced at Rei (the Reshiram one). "Is it just me, or does he seem...familiar, the more we hang out with him?"

Rei did not respond, instead trying to figure out how she'd sit down without setting the grass on fire or breaking the bench.

Zeke didn't seem to care. He plopped himself down on the opposite bench from Kyle...and broke that one much like the Kyurem had.

"Aw, bleep.", he cursed.

An old man stumbled out from the cafe, with a look of submission on his face. "Aw well, should've known that would happen. Please, um, don't try to sit anywhere else and you can still be my customers."

Zeke grinned. "Sounds good. Sorry about that and all. Eager to see if your food is as good as Professor Lavender says it is!"

"It's Laventon.", the professor corrected.

"Whatever.", Zeke replied.

The old man asked, "So, uh, what can I get for you all today? I'm not sure what Pokemon eat..."

Laventon looked at us. "Feel free to order anything you like! As I said, it's on me."

"Anything we like...", Zoe commented, a mischievous look on her face.

Akari whispered, "May God have mercy on his soul..." (-o-)

"Good heavens! That's a lot!", cried Laventon, staring at the massive amount of food the old man had placed before us.

"You said you were paying for it. Why shouldn't we help ourselves?", Janet replied, "Everyone does it to me, anyway."

"Besides.", added Zoe, mouth watering, "We were kinda starved by a fat greedy pig with ownership of the most horrible magic school in all the multiverse. So, yeah, we're hungry and want lots of food."

"Okay.", replied Laventon, "So, uh, what's a pig?"

As Zoe filled him in, I squeezed myself in between Simon and Kipper and smiled. "Hi!"

Simon looked uncomfortable. "Um, why are you sitting here?"

I simply smiled at him. "We're both Vulpixes and I'd like to know you better!"

Simon seemed even more uncomfortable, so I smiled again and prodded his tail. "Your tail is so fluffy and pretty. I like it. It's even fluffier than mine."

Kipper was staring at us, his tail wagging. He seemed to like the two of us here, but he wasn't saying anything because he was devouring a plate of biscuits.

Gavin appeared, and sat next to Simon. "Hey Simon, how's it going?"

Simon gestured a paw at me. "She's being weird."

I pouted slightly. "What? No I'm not."

"Um, yeah, you are.", he replied.

Kipper stopped eating for a moment to say, "She's cute." Then he went back to scarfing down his food like he hadn't said anything at all.

Brianna came over. "Don't worry Simon, she's harmless. Probably one of the most harmless people here, actually."

Simon didn't seem convinced, but he went back to eating.

I asked, "So, uh, what's your favorite Pokemon game? Mine's X and Y. So many cute Pokemon!"

He simply replied, "Gold and Silver."

"Everybody seems to think those are the best games.", commented Gavin, "I have to try them at some point."

"You won't regret it.", Simon promised, "Although you won't have that fancy Exp. Share thing from the new games."

Gavin nodded. "Got ya."

Brianna wriggled a spot in next to Gavin. "So, now we have two enemies after us. Those purple guys and the Dark Three. Wonder if they'll only show up right as we're about to leave again, or if they'll be clever about it."

Gavin replied, "I don't want to have to fight them again. Okay, so we haven't really had the chance to tell you guys yet, but, uh, Lulu and I were fighting one of the Pokemon working for the Dark Three, and he was actually one of our fellow students!"

I froze. "Wait, so they didn't just recruit Jacob!? It's more than that?!"

"You know too?", asked Gavin, "Oh jeez, how many of them are students from Perrington Elementary High?"

Kai stood up, adding, "Gwen was there. It's not just kids from school. There's students from across the whole town among them!"

"Holy Arceus.", muttered Simon, "This isn't good."

"I don't want to fight our neighbors.", I commented, "Even if one of them is a scarily overpowered Magikarp. What are we going to do if they show up again?"

Gavin replied, "We're going to have to find a way to negotiate with them. I'm going to try to think up a plan, maybe talk to some of the others about it. Perhaps Lulu..."

"You're just trying to hang out with her.", Brianna teased, "You're so cute together..."

Gavin blushed. "It's not like that. She's just nice, and smart, and beautiful..."

"Um, anyways.", interrupted Simon, "The Dark Three. And our classmates among them. What are we going to do about it?"

Gavin replied, "I already said I'm trying to devise a plan. Give me some time, okay?"

Brianna nodded. "Of course. We'll try to help, too."

Matthew beeped. "Computing plans for Dark Three negotiations. Estimated time remaining: 26 hours. Sleep mode may delay processing time."

"That is soooo weird.", commented Brianna, "He was odd before, but turning into a sentient computer program has only made him...odder."

"Error: I cannot comprehend what you mean by that.", Matthew replied.

"See? Odd.", Brianna stated.

Laventon finally said, "Um, let's just enjoy all this food you ordered, and worry about...um, whatever you're worrying about, later."

So the rest of the meal passed in silence.

Finally, after an intense negotiation with Cyllene over the terms of his bet, the old man (or Beni) came out holding a thick scroll.

"Your bill, professor.", he said, unfurling the scroll.

Laventon turned so pale he looked like he'd been drained of all life. His eyes widened to the size of oranges (not even exaggerating), and without a word, he fell out of his seat, completely unconscious.

"I can get some water!", cried Bob, "Oh my gosh, I hope he's alright!"

"Water isn't going to help with this kind of shock.", Zoe commented, "We'll wait until he wakes up to remind him to leave a nice tip." (-o-)

Allister's POV

I sat in my office, admiring the view outside the massive floor-to-ceiling windows.

Outside, starships sped around in the clear blue sky, the light of the three suns shining down upon them. The city was full of beautiful towers and majestic apartments, all of which led to the vast blue sea. It was a beautiful morning on the planet of Aquaro, and I wondered what today would have in store.

Turning back towards my marble desk, I continued examining the alien relic I currently had on my desk. It was a "First One" relic, one of the few pieces of a civilization that predated all other known ones, yet was more advanced than them all.

This relic, like so many of the others, was rather dull at first glance - it was simply a blank tablet made out of a strange blue alloy that not even our top scientists could identify. But the tablet hid a secret - inside it contained a complex, physics-defying circuit system closely linked to certain odd symbols across the surface.

And I was determined to figure out how it worked.

Yet after all this time, I hadn't gotten any closer. It required power...but it did not react to any power system we had. Electricity did not react, radiation did not react, not even acid reacted with it. I knew that we needed more information, but we had only found one ruin in all our years of searching, and it had been desecrated beyond proper archeological study.

I turned away from the tablet to glance at the armband on my wrist.

This was another First One relic, one that had been in my family for generations. My grandfather had found it, before he died in a pirate attack, and it had been passed down to me. It was larger and more detailed than any other First One artifact, but I dared not dismantle it, no matter what secrets it might answer. It was too precious to me, and so I simply wore it.

As I sat there working, there was a loud buzz from a certain disc on my desk.

I immediately sat up, pushing aside the relic and tapping the disc. A holographic projection of my father/boss appeared on it, grinning like a maniac.

"Allister, my boy! You have no idea what we just found!", he exclaimed.

"Um, okay.", I said, "I'm assuming it's related to the Observer Probe? This seems rather early for it to have arrived so quickly."

My father frowned. "Well, uh, it kind of crashed. While we were trying to diagnose what happened, though, it sent us a photo. One photo, but boy was it an amazing one!"

"Which was?", I asked.

"It showed a floating tower, old and weathered, but unmistakably First One in nature! The biggest find in the history of interstellar archeology! We've even received funding from the government to investigate it, even with the galaxy-sized mess of bureaucracy we had to deal with!", my father exclaimed.

I was very tempted to jump around with joy. This was what we'd been searching for for so long! But I managed to stay seated, although I couldn't control the goofy grin on my face.

"The starship that will take us there will be arriving tomorrow.", continued my father, "So we're going to be packing our bags today! This is going to be an amazing expedition! We will discover things we would never have found otherwise, and shine new light on the origins of civilization!"

I had already gotten up and was gathering various things I wanted to take with me. As I did so, I asked, "So where did the probe crash?"

My father replied, "It crashed on one of the few islands on the planet of Poseidon. Place is almost entirely ocean, was marked off as a Galactic Wildlife Planet a few years ago. No one's going to be messing with us there."

"Atmosphere?", I asked, throwing a box of tools into my backpack.

"Very chilly, with a thinner amount of oxygen. Safe for human habitation, but you're going to want a Rebreather Mask if you want to be comfortable, as well as an Envirosuit to regulate temperature and allow us to go diving there.", my father replied, "Other than that, we should be good."

"Gotcha.", I replied.

My father smiled. "Awesome! Well, I'm going to end the call here. Love you!"

"Love you too, Dad!", I replied.

He waved, and then the projection flickered off.

I smiled excitedly. This was going to be the greatest expedition in my life! I could not wait for tomorrow. I would be able to learn so much! Nothing could possibly go wrong!

Famous last words. (-o-)

No POV

Back in Hisui, night had fallen. A young man named Volo had entered the village and was camped near the gate, watching the rift storming above. It seemed larger and more agitated tonight. He wasn't sure why.

Meanwhile, from within the rift, Giratina was organizing her plan. Projecting her raw fury and anguish into several bolts of lightning, she unleashed them, striking several very important Pokemon across the region.

Then, as she felt the resulting chaos flow into her incorporeal body, she started twisting the dimensions all over the multiverse.

"Mystery Dungeon is online.", she said, and grinned evilly. (-o-)

AN: That's it for this chapter! Things aren't going too well, are they?

Also, say hello to Allister Ross! He was submitted by Uspeon and was the last OC I planned on accepting! You'll get to learn more about him in the upcoming chapters.

Well, as always, happy Pokemon hunting! Farewell!
