Let's see what happens now...(-o-)
Kai's POV
I woke up that morning to the very loud sounds of banging, welding, and zapping.
Groaning, I sat up and spotted Eddie wearing an oversized welding helmet and attaching a rocket engine to a patchwork Shinx-sized vehicle that was made from the wreckage of the hoverbikes, hovertanks, and what could be salvaged from the mech.
Don't even ask me where he got another rocket engine from.
He grinned and waved at me when he saw I was up. "Hey there, Kai-dude! Mind helping me juice up the backup batteries? I've tried doing it myself, but a little Shinx like me makes a terrible USB cable."
"I'm going back to sleep.", I muttered, flopping face-first back into my pillow.
Although we were still sleeping in the sheds, the Survey Corps had given us the courtesy of raiding their stores of mattresses, blankets, and pillows. It was certainly a lot comfier, although I was certain the mattresses were stuffed with straw.
"Ah, come on, man! Just one or two Thunder Shocks should do the trick!", complained Eddie.
"Fine, I'll give you a Thunder Shock.", I growled, feeling my cheeks hum with electricity as I turned and blasted him with the fury of a woken-up-too-early Pikachu.
Eddie yelped, more with surprise than anything. But then suddenly he was surrounded by a glowing ball of light, and evolved into a Luxio.
A Luxio with very spiky hair.
"Woo, that's awesome! Thanks Kai! Hmm, I wonder if when you do it again, I'll evolve into Luxray?", mused Eddie.
I groaned. "Well, I'm not testing that. Great, another person who's evolved..."
I noticed everyone else was getting up now, and sighed. Looks like I wasn't getting any more sleep today.
At that moment, the door was thrown open, revealing a panicked-looking Bob.
"We're in trouble!", he cried.
I muttered, "Is it because of yesterday's bill?"
"What appears to be the problem?", asked Vernon.
"Pokemon are going crazy all over the place, specifically the Nobles and certain Alphas around the region! I'm sure the Professor could explain better, but the short of it is that things are very, very bad!", Bob exclaimed.
"Alright, we're on the way!", replied Vernon, "Where we meeting you at?"
"The North Gate, where you guys fought those...whatever they were yesterday.", replied Bob, "Please hurry!"
He promptly took off, leaving us by ourselves.
"We should get there fast.", Vernon said, "It does not sound like the situation is good in the slightest." (-o-)
When we arrived, we saw the professor, Bob, and Akari, all looking somewhat glum.
When Laventon saw us, he said, "Ah, hello. We have quite a situation on our hands, and we're going to need your help to handle it."
Akari explained, "Last night, there was a freak storm that seemed to originate from the rift. A lot of powerful Pokemon were affected by it, overwhelming them with so much power that they've all gone into frenzies, including the mighty Noble Pokemon."
Bob continued, "These Noble Pokemon are the descendants of Pokemon who were blessed by the Diamond and Pearl Clans' 'Almighty Sinnoh.' They are much more powerful than others of their species...which makes this quite a problem."
Laventon said, "The commander has ordered us to go out there and try to find a solution to this problem, so we're going to do just that."
Akari suggested, "Since we're going to be traveling together for quite some time, maybe we should introduce our Pokemon."
Laventon sighed, "They already met mine, little troublemakers the lot of them."
Bob said, "Well, I'll show mine, though she's quite...unusual."
He readied a wooden Pokeball in his hand, and sent out...a Pikachu.
(cue your favorite love-at-first-sight-movie-scene music)
She was GORGEOUS.
Her eyes were bright and sparkling, filled with wonder and excitement. Her ears were tilted in just the right way to look absolutely adorable. Her heart-shaped tail flicked behind her elegantly, as she fluttered her eyelashes and sent a smile my way that made my heart melt.
I was lovestruck in a way I had not realized was possible.
She flicked her ears at me sweetly. "Hello there. You're pretty cute."
I fainted. (-o-)
Anthony's POV
As soon as Bob sent out his Pikachu, my horn started tingling ominously.
It had been tingling all day, probably because of the frenzied Pokemon, but as soon as Bob's Pikachu was sent out the tingling only got worse. I had no idea why, but it was somewhat troubling.
When Kai fainted after the new Pikachu greeted him, I knew immediately she was trouble.
Zoe looked at Bob and commented, "I think she broke Kai."
Bob looked defensive. "I swear, that's never happened before!"
The Pikachu waved at us. "Hi, I'm Belle. It's nice to meet you all!"
She was being way too friendly in my opinion, but no one else seemed to notice. Then again, no one else had a magic danger-sense horn.
Akari said, "My partner is awesome! They came through the rift with me. Say hi, Nebby!"
She sent out...a Cosmog.
The Cosmog seemed rather shy, and hid behind Akari. She smiled and petted it, then turned back towards us.
"She's pretty shy, but I'm sure she'll warm up to you!", said Akari.
I could sense danger again, but this time it wasn't coming from the Pokemon. Although I was still hazy with my danger sense, I was pretty sure the Cosmog was in trouble, as if something were hunting her.
My money was on Giratina. If so, that meant we were going to have to protect Nebby at all costs.
"You came from the rift!?", exclaimed Eddie, "Cool!"
Laventon cleared his throat. "Ahem! So, we're going out into the wide world of Hisui, to try and solve this Noble crisis and hopefully get some Pokedex knowledge along the way."
Matthew beeped. "I can generate a comprehensive compendium of every single Pokemon and its statistics, if you wish."
The Professor looked quite astonished. "You-you can!? I'll have to get your assistance with that then."
"No problem. My schedule is cleared.", replied Matthew.
Laventon nodded. "Okay...I'll try to get mine cleared as well."
"We're going to have to save the Nobles first, though.", Bob stated.
"Uh-huh. Yeah. Right.", agreed Laventon.
Akari said, "The first one is one of the Pearl Clan's...Kleavor I believe? His warden is a kid named Lian, and we'll have to talk to him in order to help it."
"Well, let's hop to it then!", declared Miss Melody, "Who wants to carry Kai?"
Belle smiled sweetly. "I'll do it, happily.", she said.
I gave her a suspicious look as she picked up the unconscious Pikachu without any trouble.
"Alright, no more delays.", stated Bob, "Let's go-"
"Hello, Survey Corps! I see you've made some new friends!", came a cheery voice, and we saw a tall young man with a unique blond hairstyle and an orange-and-white tunic, as well as a huge backpack.
"I've heard stories about the mysterious talking Pokemon in Jubilife Village and simply had to come see you for myself!", the stranger continued, "The name's Volo, and I believe you could be a big help in my special quest."
"And that is?", I asked, suspiciously.
"I am looking for special plates. Eighteen of them, to be exact. If you manage to find any on your journey, that would be great.", Volo replied, "Here, I'll give you some payment in advance."
He gave Laventon a small pouch of coins, as well as a couple potions.
"I constantly stop by the various camps across Hisui - feel free to barter with me anytime.", Volo said, "May we have a fruitful partnership!"
He walked into the town, leaving us alone by the gates.
"Well, he was...odd.", commented Brianna, "But we have a mission to complete."
"Yeah.", I said, "We certainly do." (-o-)
AN: Man, I keep writing short filler chapters...hopefully we'll do more action soon, though.
Obsidian Fieldlands next chapter! Until then, happy Pokemon hunting!
(Does anyone else think Belle will be a terrifying new character?)
