AN: This chapter we will be visiting the Obsidian Fieldlands as our heroes try to help deal with the region's current problem. Let's see what happens! (-o-)

Barry's POV

As we left the village, Professor Laventon filled us in on the zone we were visiting.

"We are heading to the Obsidian Fieldlands!", he declared, "Full of some of the most gentle Pokemon in Hisui! A giant sprawling grassland of...um, grass!"

"Don't forget trees.", added Bob.

"Yes, and trees.", agreed Laventon.

"Gentle Pokemon, eh?", Zeke said, "Sounds like it shouldn't be much trouble."

They arrived at the summit of a hill, and looked down upon a gorgeous green landscape, with a great blue river flowing through it to the horizon. Mountains loomed around it, and one could even see a waterfall pouring down in the distance.

Akari pointed towards a forest in the distance. "If I remember correctly, that's where Lian and his Noble Pokemon should be. We have a bit of a trip on our hands."

Bob said, "If we follow the path and the torches alongside it, we should be able to get there without any issue."

Zeke replied, "Well, let's get going then."

As they walked down the path, a couple curious beaver-like Pokemon walked out from the grass, investigating them fearlessly.

"Ah, look, it's the local Bidoof!", Akari said, "They're quite friendly and don't seem to be afraid of anything!"

One of the Bidoof replied, "That's because we know we're far better than everyone else, even you silly humans."

Janet frowned. "Is that so?"

"They're pretty cute, aren't they?", continued Akari, who had not understood what the Pokemon had said.

"Cute's a word for us.", the Bidoof replied, "All the better to make you humans love us and serve us."

Janet said, "Well, I bet you're glad that they can't understand you, huh?"

Akari shrugged. "Anyone know what she's talking about?"

I replied, "She's having a pleasant conversation with the Bidoof, of course."

"Well, let's get a move on, then.", Bob said, "Don't want to waste time."

As they walked away, I heard one of the Bidoof say, "Just wait until they meet the king, tee-hee."

"What are you guys talking about now?", asked Janet.

"It's a surprise.", the Bidoof replied smugly.

Anthony muttered, "That's never a good sign."

We made our way down the hill, where we next spotted a group of Starlys. As soon as they saw us, they started screaming and panicking, running around in circles until they disappeared with a little pop.

"Starlys. Always so easily spooked.", muttered Bob.

The next thing we met were some Shinx.

"Ooh look, target dummies!", one shouted.

"Super lightning attack time!", another exclaimed.

They charged, so I had to give them a friendly Mud Slap to get them to go away.

Akari commented, "Those guys are pretty mean."

After that we finally reached the bottom of the hill. The path led down towards a row of stepping stones across the river, intermingled with which was a Bidoof dam. Several of them were sunning themselves there, wearing sunglasses and drinking lemonade. As soon as they saw the humans, though, they quickly hid all those and started pretending to do regular Bidoof things.

Akari, Bob, and Laventon did not seem to notice, but we did and gave those Bidoof a knowing look.

I noticed one silently counting our footsteps, before declaring, "Bow before the king!"

"Roaarrrr!" A massive Bibarel with glowing red eyes sprang from the water, and a sudden shockwave blasted everyone off their feet. Even the big ones like Kyle.

"It's an Alpha Pokemon!", Akari cried.

Kai woke up finally - seeing the giant beaver Pokemon, he immediately leaped to his feet. When he saw Belle standing next to him, he winked and charged the Bibarel.

The Bibarel roared and swung its tail around, which was surrounded by a swirling whirlwind of water. It slammed it into Kai and sent him flying into a nearby rock. He crumpled to the ground, groaning, and Belle giggled.

Kai's eyes immediately lit up angrily, and he charged right back at the Bibarel and unleashed a massive bolt of lightning that electrified the entire river.

When it cleared, though, the Bibarel was still standing. It immediately proceeded to jump on top of Kai, crushing him beneath its weight.

Bob shouted, "Belle, Thunder Shock!"

She simply flicked one of her ears at him and ignored him.

"Ugh, why does she never listen to me!?", he complained.

"Get off me, you ugly rodent!", I heard Kai yelled, and he somehow managed to stand up, lifting the much larger Bibarel, and threw him across the beach.

Belle looked impressed. "Oooh, he's a strong one." She shot him a flirtatious smile, and Kai beamed.

"I think I'm going to be sick.", grumbled Zeke.

Rei handed him a paper bag.

Meanwhile, the enraged Bibarel got up, and prepared to charge at Kai. The Bidoofs had all procured popcorn and seemed to be enjoying the show. Janet saw this, and looked outraged.

Janet declared, "Alright guys, this is fun and all, but I think it's time we wrecked face!"

She fluttered over to the Bibarel and used her powers to blast it with leaves. I summoned a Razor Wind around myself and glided at the beaver's face, and everyone else jumped in.

After a few Dark Pulses, Dynamic Punches, Freeze Rays, Flamethrowers, Super-Powered Fire Queen Throat Chops, Sizzly Slides, Psychics, Razor Winds, Razor Leafs, Razor Ears, Thunder Shocks, Low Kicks, Tail Whips, Fusion Flares, Creepy Puppet Stranglings, Water Guns, and a Hyper Beam for good measure, the Bibarel fainted and disappeared, leaving a pile of dust behind.

All was silent for a moment.

"Retreat!", screamed one of the Bidoof, and all of them jumped into the river and swam as far away as possible.

After they were gone, Bob asked, "Was being that brutal...necessary?"

"Totally.", replied Zeke, grinning, "What else would you expect from us?"

Laventon sighed. "That's not concerning at all."

Zoe nodded. "You are definitely correct."

No one decided to continue the conversation, so everyone silently walked across the dam. About halfway there, though, Zoe started snickering.

"Good thing we got rid of those dam Bidoof.", she said, smirking.

"That dam joke was terrible.", replied Randa, grinning with both of his Klink faces.

Zeke chuckled. "I'm ready to get this dam quest over with."

Belle then slapped everyone who had spoken in the face with her tail.

"There are ladies present, you know.", she stated, "Keep your immature jokes in your head."

Kai nodded, "Um, yeah, what she said. Totally listen to her."

Matthew started shuddering. "Error. Error. Personality database contradiction detected."

"Yeah, he certainly seems different.", agreed Steven, "It's just plain wrong."

"Dam right.", agreed Zeke, grinning wildly.

Belle slapped him again.

They finished crossing the bridge and found themselves at the foot of a tall rocky island.

"There's a bridge at the other end of this that leads to the Heartwood.", said Laventon, "That is our destination."

"Well, that shouldn't be too hard. We dealt with the crazy Bidoof.", replied Brianna.

We started making our way up the path, scaring more Starlys. A Munchlax watched us from the top of a cliff, eating some Aguav Berries while it did so.

Something about its gaze made me nervous...

Suddenly, a rock flew out of nowhere and whacked into Rei, causing her to flinch. Zeke's eyes lit up with a cold fire, and he roared, "Alright, who threw that!?"

There was some giggling as several of the 'rocks' along the path floated up, revealing themselves to be Geodude.

"Ugh, is every Pokemon here a jerk?", complained Mia.

Miss Melody crossed her arms. "We've been delayed enough! I might have let my students train against that Bibarel, but I won't let you guys hold us back further! You have five seconds before I show you what my power looks like!"

The Geodudes snickered and picked up a bunch of rocks.

"Fine then.", Miss Melody replied. Energy whirled around her as she turned into a Kyogre, summoning up the river around us and then unleashing it, flooding the island and washing away the startled Geodude.

"There. Let's get going.", she said, resuming her human form.

But then we heard someone scream, "Help! Wyrdeer's in danger!"

We glanced at each other, then raced towards the top of the hill, where we saw a young woman thrown against a rock and staring in horror as a majestic white deer Pokemon struggled to hold off an army of Bug-type Pokemon, one tall glowing-red-eyed cricket 'conducting' them.

It turned around, and saw us. It rose its arms up, shouting, "Delele-wooooooop!"

We readied ourselves for combat once again. (-o-)
