AN: This chapter, we'll be fighting an Alpha Kricketune and saving a Wyrdeer!

Not much else to say...(-o-)

Nicholas's POV

As soon as the cricket Pokemon turned to face us, I yelled and spit an Ember at its face.

It staggered back, just in time for Sara to charge and kick Steven the Sandshrew right at it, knocking it over.

Zeke roared a mighty battlecry, and a giant Thunderbolt came down and blasted the Kricketune even farther away. However, we had now attracted the ire of all the other Bug-types, which moved in to attack.

There seemed to be a representative of every evolutionary line among them as well, which was weird.

As they charged in for the attack, we began to fight back. I spotted Joel barraging an Araquanid with leaves, while Fiona faced off against an enraged Butterfree. A Ledian was trying to punch at Lulu, but she simply smacked it across the face and drove a fist into its gut. Gavin jumped at it from behind, but the Ledian dodged and he crashed facefirst. Eddie was whooping as he barraged a Scizor with his newly empowered lightning attacks, but it was fighting through them effortlessly.

An Ariados jumped down from above, but Kayla rammed into it using some of the techniques she'd been learning from Fiona. The two of them hit the ground nearby and rolled across the ground, biting and clawing each other.

A Dustox came down from the sky, accompanied by a Beautifly, but they were met in battle by Kai and Belle, who simultaneously fired off a Thunder Shock that electrocuted both Bug-types.

Coach Vernon headbutted a Pinsir, his ears lighting up with flames. The colossal beetle fell over, as Vernon continued barraging it with fireballs. Miss Melody flew by, using her magic to disperse the poisonous dust getting scattered everywhere while repelling a vicious Venomoth with psychic attacks. Down below, Rei swung her tail around and launched a Heracross into the wall with a loud crunch.

Sylvie, Peter, and Laura teamed up to pin down a Yanmega, while Brianna stalked in the shadows, hunting a Shuckle. A Forretress spun towards her at high speeds, and she yelped as she leaped out of its path, alarming the Shuckle and causing it to hide in its shell.

A Masquerain fluttered its wings and called down a rainstorm, while a Shedinja hovered ominously nearby. Hunter tried to go after it, but was intercepted by an Illumise and its Volbeat friends.

An Armaldo clanged its claws together, and a Rock Tomb fell towards Markus. But the shy Froakie nimbly dodged each individual rock and fired a Bubble Beam into the prehistoric Pokemon's eyes. The Armaldo screeched and fell back, with the frog in hot pursuit.

Three Wormadams, one of each type, spun towards Zeke, hoping to take the distracted Zekrom by surprise, but he stomped his foot and caused a powerful wave of thunder to take out all but the Sandy-Cloaked one. That one yelled and smacked into him, but had little effect. Erik jumped on top of it and started clawing it, trying to get the Pokemon away from his friend.

Anthony faced off against a massive Drapion, slashing at its claws with his horn. However, he was snatched up by its tail, and the scorpion started smashing him repeatedly into the ground.

A Leavanny darted elegantly around the attacks of Janet, mocking her each time she missed. The Celebi screamed in rage, and suddenly the Leavanny was frozen in time. That surprised anyone who was watching, which wasn't many.

Meanwhile, a Scolipede loomed menacingly over Matthew, but the Porygon pulled some sort of weird electric-psychic combo move that blasted the terrifying centipede into retreat.

A Crustle climbed to the top of the cliffs, readying a huge boulder. A random Buizel decided to aggro him, though, spinning around in a jet of water and smashing a hole straight through the middle of the rock on its back.

Buizels are now officially terrifying.

I saw an Escavalier and an Accelgor join the fray, but as soon as they saw each other they challenged each other to a fight-to-the-death. They beat each other up with lances, shields, swords, secret ninja moves, creepy puppets, fists, and last night's leftovers before keeling over and fainting.

Daniel charged past, nimbly dodging a Galvantula's webs as it attempted to entrap him. However, his oversized coat seemed to be slowing him down, and the electric spider finally managed to trip him up. He cried out as the spidersilk shocked him, but his Rock-typing seemed to protect him from the worst of it.

A Durant charged in and got eaten by a Heatmor that just so happened to be nearby. Said fire anteater commented, "Durant hunting is elementary, my dear.", before running after some tracks while puffing bubbles out of its smokepipe tail.

Too many Vivillons flew out of the sky, but were expertly taken out by Draco's well-aimed spells. "Pixies are nastier than you!", he yelled, grinning evilly at the pile of fainted Pokemon.

A Vikavolt clamped its jaws around Barry and attempted to shock him, but the Gligar grinned and started Mud Slapping it repeatedly in the wings. The electric bug could no longer fly, and the two of them crashed into the ground. Only one got back up, and I can guarantee it wasn't the bug

A Ribombee flew at Sherlock, and he blasted it into the horizon with a Hyper Beam. Eyes glowing with rage, he yelled, "I despise your kind, especially now that I have deduced Miss Melody considered turning me into one of you nasty little sparkly bug things!"

A Golisopod calmly readied a fighting position as Kipper and Simon prepared to attack it. At that moment, though, Mia jumped onto its head, squealing, "I'm here to help!" At that moment, the serene meditative Golisopod appeared to have a heart attack.

Hoopa clashed against an Orbeetle, absorbing its psychic attacks and sending its other attacks through random portals. With a poof of smoke, Hoopa reappeared behind it, and bashed it with a wooden mallet, knocking it out instantly.

A Frosmoth glided spookily towards Zola, a snowstorm whirling around it. Right as it would of reached her, though, Will pounced on it from behind, knocking it over. Zola grinned and helped finish it off.

A Centiskorch burst from the ground in a plume of fire, but Akio and Zoe made themselves look like a pair of Gyarados (Zoe made hers look Shiny of course), and the Centiskorch fainted in terror.

Then I noticed my bro Jack was waving his pillaged wand from Pigbumps frantically as a Vespiquen unleashed her horde upon him, so I charged in to bail him out. With a vicious snarl, I pounced at it, but the Vespiquen dodged and commanded its swarm to attack me. With a deep breath, though, I incinerated them with a Flamethrower, scorching the hive queen as well.

Jack waved his wand, and the bug turned into a honeycake.

"...What?", we asked at the same time.

"Dibs!", my brother yelled, but a Munchlax fell from the sky and ate it instead.

"Nom.", it said.

I glared at it. "That was ours."

It tilted its head. "Nom.", it replied.

Jack growled, "I earned that fair and square!"

"Nom.", the Munchlax answered.

Then it ran over to the person shivering by the wall.

At that moment, our friends took down the last of the bugs.

"Woohoo!", cheered Eddie, "We totally dominated them!"

The Wyrdeer who'd been laying on the ground this whole time said, "You're not...done...yet..."

In a burst of light and fire, a massive Volcarona with a weird glowing pattern on its wings appeared, causing the ground to crack and lava to spray out.

With a loud screech, it declared a most horrifying statement...

"Um, is this the Lental region? I think I'm lost."

...or not.

Miss Melody replied, "Ooh, I love visiting the Lental region! But, uh, this isn't it. You're one of Xerneas's 'Illumina' Pokemon, right?"

The Volcarona nodded.

"Hmm...I believe if you head that way, you'll get there. It's a bit of a long, long flight, though.", Miss Melody replied, gesturing towards the southeast.

"That's fine, thanks a lot!", the Volcarona replied, "I'm honestly not sure how I got here, though. There was some weird space-time shifts...you might want to watch out for that."

"Will do, thanks!", replied Miss Melody.

The Volcarona flew off, a trail of sparkles and embers following her. When she was gone, the woman who'd been cowering in the corner finally stood up and walked over to us, that honeycake-stealing Munchlax plodding along after her.

"Thank you for saving us!", declared the woman, "My name's Mai, and I'm Wyrdeer's warden. Normally I could have handled that situation myself, but there was just too many..."

Vernon shrugged. "Eh, not a problem."

Akari hurried over to Mai. "Are you okay? Did those Pokemon hurt you badly?"

Mai shook her head. "Nothing that I can't deal with. Wyrdeer might need your attention more."

Bob said, "I've crafted plenty of potions, I'll see to him."

He walked over to the fallen Wyrdeer and set to work applying some sort of salve to its injuries. It wasn't long before Bob stood up and stepped back.

"There, he should be alright now.", Bob stated, "Just needs some rest."

Mai smiled. "Thank you all very much! So, uh, what were you originally here for?"

"We're here to help with Kleavor and his frenzy.", answered Laventon.

Mai sighed. "That doesn't sound easy. Lian hasn't been letting anyone get close, he wants to handle it himself. He seems to think he'd be an utter failure as wardem if he let anyone else even try to help with it."

Akari replied, "I'm sure I could talk some sense into him. Thanks for letting us know."

Mai nodded. "Of course."

Just then, a Floatzel appeared, holding a stick and followed by an army of Buizels, all covered in berry juice that had been used as war paint.

"There's the powerful Pokemon!", the Floatzel declared, "Let us test how strong they are! To glorious combat!"

The Buizels cheered, and water started swirling around them.

The Munchlax looked right at us, and said, "Run."

So we did, the ferocious warband of Buizels in bloodcrazed pursuit. (-o-)

AN: Buizels really are terrifying in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, aren't they?

Next time, we'll finally meet Kleavor! Finally! I hope you're excited for the shenanigans that will ensue!

Until then, happy Pokemon hunting!
