"Soooo, are we still doing that thing tomorrow?"

Della's question was one that she had repeated plenty of times now. I got it that she was nervous, so was I when we had that conversation after Magica tried to attack the kids but... I was starting to lose my nerves with how anxious she was being over it. I couldn't exactly blame her in that regard.

That kiss, the fact we have been in a bit of a situation where I was around and close to her for her recovery- I mean, she also mentioned that I was the one that had stuck around her the most, which was telling if that also extended to the triplets' father. I was... surprised to say the least, but I couldn't also feel any less in that regard as I was extremely intrigued by her.

Della acted like a kid in an adult body... in most parts. She wanted to retain her twenties as she lost the chance to do so due to the moon accident, but she had made a strong recovery to be a bit more responsible in that regard. Touching the whole 'you should lessen the adventures a bit' issue was still not achievable at the moment, but she was making progress to fixing that too.

Still, nothing really stuck the most than the kiss. And the fact that she took this chance to pour out what she had been struggling to understand for some time. What was our relationship at this point? In a sense, I felt worried that this was some sort of attachment born from my volunteering in helping her around, but it was as she explained what was up with her that it became clear.

It was partly that, there was no way it wouldn't have been present as a factor, but it wasn't the entire reason. She saw how I behaved with the kids, how I behaved with 'our kids', and started to sympathize a bit with Webby's own struggle to not be ostracized with her need for adventure. In this time and era, people hardly wanted to go on adventures, so they saw Webby as an 'old-fashioned' kid in that regard, going as far as teachers asking if I was 'feeding her silly stories'.

They did stop when these meetings ended up with me rationalizing how this sort of mindset from a teacher, which already had the proper documentation to understand her and the triplets were connected to Scrooge McDuck and his endeavors, was going to be harmful for her growth. (HAH, the adventures will help with her growth, That teacher is confusing growth with safety.)

Della had been present that day as well. It was a bit uneasy for her as school was one of those memories she didn't want to be brought back into, but she slowly fit into the role of parent and less as an 'ex-student'. New faces as teachers, a few of which she knew as old classmates, and none of the old ones that once taught her lessons in this place.

Which is where the 'being good with kids' hit a relevant logic within her simple thought on the matter: she wasn't exactly looking just for a boyfriend. Della understood that, at this point, it was best to look for a husband and a good father for her kids. She wasn't just here out of her own interest in finding love, but also to provide her kids with the proper balance of a stable family.

That was actually... a good reason. But not good enough to start a relationship on the spot. I told her as much, but when she started to deflate the news, Della's mood soared when I offered to go on a few dates with her. Not one, not two, but at least five. I get it if anyone would think this is odd- but the thing is that we both needed to know if we could do it or not. If we were ready to be in a relationship like that with a perfect blend of love for each other and a duty to have a stable family.

That reasoning was wholeheartedly agreed upon by Della... so, the big question one would create out of this was one and the same: why was she so nervous about it at the moment if she was certain of it?

The truth was a bit more complicated than what I just mentioned. Della was aware it was happening without any chances of that being ruined, but her current mood was so nervous and anxious that she wanted to keep all these relevant events tight to her. The issue? Two individuals were waiting inside the Funso's Fun Zone restaurant. It was cheap, there was always an availability of seats and... it was a place Della was extremely familiar and confident to spend time with.

The anxiety was split between meeting her brother after so long, but also because of the other individual Donald was bringing to visit. The one that had asked to meet Della too because her 'friend from the Moon'. I didn't expect much from it beyond positive stuff- I had no reason to believe this individual would have been a source of trouble for me as soon as she walked inside the establishment.

To make a note on this moment, I have to also explain this last thing on Della's behavior: she missed her friend, and she felt nervous in that regard because she blamed her incapacity to send a message to her and tell her she made it. That was not something which prepared me to handle the slightly muscular Moonlander girl that escorted Donald inside the restaurant.

She had switched on to some Earth clothes, something that Della instantly pointed out while going to greet her. Then she saw Donald and the two stared at each other with genuine uncertainty on what to do next. Said hesitation cracking as both finally went for a hug, a very tight one at that. Then it was time for me to be introduced to 'Penumbra' and... she had quite the mighty handshake in her arsenal. I tried to match her for as long as needed in that palm-squeezing competition, before ultimately returning to the tables.

The glare, however, didn't cease as Della happily dropped her unease to chat with her brother, poor Donald a bit out-teased for a while, but glad to hear that the kids were fine. It was aimed at me, clearly annoyed by something about me and looking ready to jump me the moment I made a wrong move in her reach.

Very dangerous, but I had a feeling there was more than just mindless hostility behind that... I just didn't know how deep that hostility ran due to my relationship with Della.

AN

Season 2 is coming to a close end! A few more chapters, two big clashes, and then the third and last Season. Differently from the previous two, the third season will actually screw a lot with Canon as John will react accordingly to F.O.W.L. and the dangers it represents. At the same time, he will end up clashing with someone who will ultimately turn into his archnemesis. And no, it's not Penumbra.

IMPORTANT AN! Also, I released a few new story concepts on Pxtreon called Murderous Cinderella which features a The Boys AU where Homelander has a twin sister and she has a thing with Hughie. Things go Yandere and things go crackish; Then there's Never Take a Pirate for Grant'd! which features a Grant Danasty!SI with Lite Gamer powers venturing the world of Castlevania Netflix. First stop? Trying to stop Dracula solo! Last but not least, Unsung Otome Villainess which features a Villainess from a Standard Otome game getting advised by a SI!Soul. First step? Befriend your main rival and enemy, ignoring the fact she may fall in love for you! You may be able to read them a month in advance (it will be published in the archive thread a month on QQ after its release on Pxtreon) by applying for even the lowest tier, which is literally a 1$ or so each month.
