Out of the Pack

Kon Penthouse, Isla Nublar

P.O.V: Kenji

After yesterday, Dad decided that everyone needed to get a good night's sleep. The penthouse wasn't stocked not designed to hold so many people and Molina refused to sleep anywhere but a warm bed. Dad slept on the master and Molina in the guest room. Hawkes and his mercs kept watch throughout the night, interchanging with each other. Mae tried to sleep but she tossed and turned...she appeared to be having a nightmare, the only thing I could get from her nightmare induced mumbles were Kash and raptors. Realization hit like a ton of bricks, she still remembers when Kash tried to kill her and set the raptors on her...I should have realized that a lot earlier, if I was Mae, I wouldn't be able to forget...not forgive it.

With that train of thought, I think to when Dad convinced me that what I was doing on Mantah Corp was right, I believed it then and I still believe it now but seeing Mae with Dad and the knowledge that he did, willingly, let Kash go free made me doubt his reasons. He said that he needed Kash's tech but... technology is technology. Surely, Kash would have kept blueprints for the chips and the BRADs on files on the computer, how hard could it be for dad to hire another programmer like Kash? Seeing Mae on this island made me happy, she loves these animals...I don't know why, maybe because of their large and forgotten wonder. I don't see the appeal...but Mae does...so does Darius.

"Hey, Kon. You focused!" I break from my thoughts and turn to see Hawkes holding a slab of meat in his hand. I look around and see that it's now daytime and I remember that Dad ordered me and Hawkes to feed Toro. 'Can't have a dinosaur frontage presentation, if it's starved half to death', that's what Dad said. "Yeah, I'm fine. Go." I say as he throws the slab towards Toro. I look down at the controller quickly and command Toro to catch the meat. The Carnotaur does so with flying colours as I make him chimp and swallow the meat. "Again. Go." I say as Hawkes does so. The meat flies over Toro's horns but I maneuver him to twist his head up and catch it. He sinks his teeth and gobbles it down. Me and Hawkes repeat the process twice further until we see Dad and Mae walking over to us. I take a quick look at Mae and see that she is hanging her head down, a sad expression on her face and heavy bags under her eyes. "Nice moves, son." Dad says to me and I look back at him, I smile gratefully at his praise...I go to say something, but a quick growl and snarl catches my attention. We all look over and see Molina hop, skipping and dancing away from a trio of Compy's. She tries to kick one but it steps to the side and nips at her shoe. I look at dad with an amused eye and bring the controller up.

I moved Toro over to Molina, lowering his head down to Molina, almost level with her back. Molina looks like she is talking to someone on the phone as I control Toro to release a soft but threatening growl. The Compy's run in fear at the larger predator as Molina gasps and turns swiftly. She gasps at the closeness of Toro, she leans to the side and glares a hole through me. I smile back at her with an amused expression and pull Toro away from her. It was nice to see her scared, the uptight and rude bitch needs to be taken down a peg...I think I would suffer another lecture from Darius, Brooklynn, Ben, Yaz and Ryan, rather than listen to her tell us how great and rich she is. On this island, none of that shit matters, we might have protection with Hawkes and his mercs, the safety of the penthouse and a Carnotaur under our control. But that doesn't mean shit if you get lost and wander to a territory where the host won't appreciate it. I remember the day that me and Brooklynn went for a walkabout, just to see the sights and collect decorations for the treehouse...any to run for our lives when we accidentally entered the Triceratops territory, let's just say that the Alpha was not happy...not in the slightest.

I broke from my trail of thought when Molina walked over to us and jumps away from a Compy that wasn't deterred by Toro. "Uhh. These pests are everywhere." Molina says in disgust as I wince. Pests, they might be, but in a pack, they are not to be trifled with. One is cute, two is alright, three is bad...ten is death. "Those 'pests' have venom in their bites, I wouldn't be so quick to judge." Mae says in annoyance to Molina who just shrugs. I hear the engine blades of a helicopter blade as we all look up and see a chopper heading for the penthouse's pier. "Best not to keep him waiting." Molina says as she shoulders checks Mae. I gaze sympathetically at her as she winces and rubs her shoulder. "You should go too, Dr. Turner." Dad says to Mae who just nods sadly. "Right. Of course." She walks past us, her head is hung low and her eyes are barely leaving the ground. I watch her go past and go to ask if she's alright. I know that she isn't, but it is hard to just ask. Before I can stop Mae, Dad grabs my shoulder and pulls my attention back to him. "So, I've been thinking, son." He says as I look up at him. "I'd like you to do the demonstration for BioSyn." He says with pride as I stare wide eyed. "Me?" I ask as he chuckles. "Don't sound so surprised, my boy. With what you and I have accomplished these past few days, I couldn't ask nor trust a better person to lead the demonstration. You have shown me have much you've matured. Just...keep it up." He says to me with a slight awkwardness. My eye twitches in confusion at the slight but that's not what's important right now. He trusts me and is proud of me. I nod my head and a determined, cocky smile widens across my face. I pull the controller up and turn Toro around. The three of us walk shoulder to shoulder as we make our way to the dock. Time to meet the buyer.

Penthouse Private Pier:

Me and Toro stand at the back of the group with Mae in front of me, slightly more to my right. Hawkes stands on the other side of Toro while the other two mercs are situated at the pier entrance. Dad and Molina stand side by side as the BioSyn helicopter lands. The door opens to reveal a man, slightly older than dad but with short white hair, blue eyes that shine with wisdom and a bit of a greed. He gazes in wonder at the majesty of the island, while nothing wrong with that, I just want to get this deal and demo over and done with, so we can get the hell out of here. This island is as free and wild as its prehistoric inhabitants, we humans don't belong here anymore. And the more that we stay, the worse the outcome is going to be. Breaking from my thoughts, I hear Molina walk ahead and introduce the man to Dad. "I'd like to introduce you to Lewis Dodgson, head of research at BioSyn." I gaze at the man and my eyebrows raise in amazement. This man is the head of research at one of the largest and most profitable genetic-engineering companies...in the entire world. Saying that I wasn't expecting him would be very stereotypical of me. The man walks up to Dad who meets him in the middle, the man...sorry, Lewis Dodgson, has a brown pack that he has swung over his shoulder as he continues to gaze at the mountains and jungle of the island. "Good to meet you, Daniel Kon." Dad introduces himself to Dodgson who breaks his gaze for a short while and shakes his hand in greeting, but he continues on with his walk and starry gaze. I hold out my hand to shake his and I get nothing...not even a look of acknowledgement. Now that's just rude.

Dodgson turns his eyes away from the mountains and focuses on Toro. The Carnotaur stands perfectly still, gazing ahead at no sign of acknowledging Dodgson. "Great. This is great." Dodgson speaks in a low, soft tone of voice that I would deem out of place for someone admiring a dinosaur. If I was head of a research branch of a genetic company that wants to make and sell dinosaurs...I would sound a bit more amazed but what do I know? Dodgson turns to me and Dad with an expected look on his face. "So?" He questions as Dad looks and nods at me. I smile and walk ahead to stand by Dodgson, he raises an eyebrow at me but I ignore the doubtful look...just watch, old man. "Meet...Toro." I say dramatically as I control Toro to run around the dock, growling and snarling aggressively. I move back to charge toward me and Dodgson. I command him to stop and unleash a powerful roar that echoes across the dock. Dodgson states up in wonder if the carnivore. "Incredible." He turns to me and snatches the co roller from my hands. I gasp in surprise and turn to him, questioningly. "May I?" He says smugly as he doesn't wait for an answer, he just lowers Toro's head down to him. I wave off the snatch...must just be excited to try out the tech...wouldn't know it at first glance, dude's like a block of ice.

Dodgson gazes at Toro, he reaches forward and gently caresses the sharp, dirty teeth of the Carnotaur. "This is more than I expected. Molina talked quite highly of your tech, Kon...and let me tell you, that's rare. Incredibly so." Dodgson says as Molina follows up, I glance over my shoulder and see Molina's smug smile. "What can I say? I'm not easy to please." She says as I silently scoff to myself. No shit. I turn back to Dodgson as he circles Toro, gently rubbing his hand along the healed scars. "Looks like he has been through quite an ordeal...but it'll be no matter, hell do fine." Dodgson says as Mae speaks. "Do fine for what?" She asks as everyone turns to look at her. Dodgson remains emotionless and shrugs. "BioSyn put a lot of time and money into dinosaurs. Then this place crashed and burned...twice now...and now, we look like fools. The world deems that dinosaurs are a bad investment and that anything that has to do with them...will fail. But to BioSyn, dinosaurs aren't bad investments...men like Hammond and Marsani saw them as something to make a buck on...while there is nothing wrong with that, they only saw what could benefit them...not the world. These animals can show and do so much more than what Hammond and Marsani planned for them. These animals are the secret to humanity's future...but ironic don't you think?" Dodgson says, his voice is filled with passion...guess I was wrong, he has emotion and like Dad...he sees these animals as more than just giant predatory monsters...but as something that can help a lot of people. "When the world sees a mighty Carnotaurus literally eating right out of your hand, I think you'll prove your point. So...do we have a deal?" Dad asks as he stands in front of Dodgson and Toro. Dad holds his hand out to shake to an agreement, but Dodgson shakes his head. I stare in confusion as he pulls his bag off his shoulder. "Not yet."

I see Dad's expression furrow into a confused gaze as Dodgson scrounges something from his bag. "I got a wish list of dinosaurs. Help me retrieve these and prove that this tech of yours works on them...and you got yourself a deal." He finishes as I walk up beside dad and take the wish list from Dodgson. "Let's see...a Dimorphadon. Might be a slight annoyance but nothing that I'm sure Hawkes and the twins can't handle. A Carnotaurus, already done, chickity-check. A...herbivore of some kind? Do you have any preference?" I ask Dodgson who smirks. "Not really, just something not too frightening. For the kids." He says as I chuckle awkwardly. "Ok... absolutely." I look down and see the last dino on the list. My eyes go wide as my breath starts to shudder in fear. "Ah-am...I, reading this right?" I say with fear laced in my voice. Dodgson hardens his gaze at me. "My grammar is impeccable." He says simply as I gulp and turn to Dad. "Velociraptor." Dad's eyes widen slightly but nonetheless, he nods in agreement. I breathe deeply and turn back to Dodgson. "Uh, sure. I know where she set up her territory, if we play out cards right, we can tag and bag her without any problems." I say as Dodgson takes the list from me and turns to Dad with an amused smile on his face. "Are we really taking directions from your kid, Kon?" He says with fake politeness, but I can see the veiled disbelief and amusement at my words. I scowl slightly at the veiled insult, before I can say anything, Dad reaches up and places a gently, reassuring hand on my shoulder. "He knows the dinosaurs...and the island. He has my full trust." Dad says as I smile. "I've been on this island so much...I pretty much know like the back of my hand." I say to Dodgson who states unamused and not really convinced but he nonetheless shrugs. "Now...let's get this show on the road." He says as we head to the jeeps that Hawkes and the twins are able to salvage from the penthouse garage. "Where are we heading, kid? Where is the raptor's territory?" Dodgson asks, with Dad by his side. "North. At the old visitor's centre." I say to Dad and Dodgson who nod and head off.

Molina walks past me as she sets herself beside Dodgson. "Sir, let me hold that for you while you get in." She offers to carry Dodgson's bag which seems really out of place for me. She never put in any effort to do anything...always complaining while on our treck...always seems to be so self-absorbed...the irony isn't lost on me but with Molina...she, from my observations of her, would never offer to help anyone...with anything if she didn't benefit from it. She's a rich investor, not a fucking caddie. Dodgson waves her off and tightens his bag on his shoulder. "This bag never leaves me." He says with a hardened gaze...Molina gets the warning and gangs her head respectfully, Dodgson walks ahead as I furrow in confusion at the little convo between the two. Something is going on, Molina is acting weird, and Dodgson wants that bag with him at all times...something is going on that no one else is getting, best keep an eye on those two. "Kenji...come on." Mae calls out to me as I break from my thoughts and walk over to her, hopping into the second jeep with the twins and Mae.

Mantah Corp Island:

P.O.V Change: Ryan

The large thunderstorm had managed to sneak up on us during the night. Darius decided that it was best that we hunker down in Mae's cave, the crack in the forest biomes roof from the earthquake had not helped matters when the pouring rain came through, let's just say that seeing a virtual environment of a clear sunny day and the outside world of a tropical thunderstorm mixing...that had fucked with our heads. Did so with the Eatie's as well. Brooklynn had made mention that they should have gone back to the jungle compound. While her idea had logic, being at the centre of the facility and near the computer, Yaz had reasoned that BRAD's could be patrolling the compound. Over the last several days, the BRAD's have suspiciously absent, the last time that we saw them was at the Core with the Sarcosuchus.

Currently, we are seated on the couch and recliners of Mae's cave. Ben, after riding the kitchen, had found that Mae had a particular sweet tooth, mainly for cakes and other pastries. I was lounging lazily along one of the recliners, my feet up and Yaz, who had made herself comfortable on my lap and within the crook of my arm, currently eating a blueberry muffin. Sammy sat across from us, amused eyes and a teasing smile etched on her face, she was taking small bites out of a strawberry donut. Ben was on a bench behind Sammy, munching on a chocolate muffin. Darius and Brooklynn were on the couch beside each other, taking little nibbles of their own slice of chocolate cake. I pick my lips and gobble down the remaining piece of my chocolate chip muffin. "Hmm...Mae has good taste." Yaz states as she leans against my torso, downing the rest of her muffin. "When we see Mae again...I'm going to give her a big, warm hug for unknowingly leaving us with all these cakes, muffins and donuts." Sammy says as she finishes her donut with a satisfied smile on her face. "Amen to that." Ben and I say at the same time. I wrap my arms around Yaz and pull her closer into me as she smiles and snuggles into my arms. I look over her shoulder and see Darius's downcast look. "What's up?" I say to him as everyone turns their attention to him. A loud thunder crack sounds off as Darius is broken from his somber. "Nothing...it's just...when Mr. Kon comes back, he's gonna want the rest of the control chips." Darius says as Brooklynn follows him up. "We gotta destroy them." She says as Yaz sits up and I straighten myself. "Yeah. And get rid of any blueprints or files so he can't make more." She says as I nod. "Where do you think the files are?" Sammy asks as Ben speaks up. "Kon wouldn't keep his top secrets in a folder. My guess is that it's on Kash's computer. We saw a few things while we were there yesterday... you know, before the quake hit." He says as we nod in agreement. "Take this as well." I say as I reach over to the side table and pick up the Nublar USB and pass it to Brooklynn. "Delete the files, but copy everything before doing so, we want Kon to go down, we're going to need all the evidence we can get." I say as the others affirm their agreement and Brooklynn steels her gaze and takes the USB, placing it within her jacket pocket. "Ok. Brooklynn, Ryan and I will go to the compound and delete those files. Sammy, Yaz and Ben, you guys will go to the workshop and destroy the chips." Darius says as we nod but Ben raises his hand. "Actually...I think I've moved beyond pure destruction. I want to be on Team Delete the Blueprints." Ben says as he nibbles his muffin. "Really?" Darius questions as Brooklynn follows up. "What happens to 'explosions are my thing'?" She asks sarcastically as Ben shrugs. "Hey, don't put me in a corner. A man can evolve." He says as I snort. "Yeah...but in a day." I say jokingly as Ben playfully throws his muffin at me. I react faster and catch it. He stares wide eyed as I take a bite out of it, smiling smugly at him. "That was mine." He says as I shrug. "You gave it to me...so that makes it mine now." I say as Yaz goggles at our banter and by...God...your laughter is saying things to me...many things. I sit straighter and try not to gaze into the amused smile on Yaz's face. Swear to God, she always takes the piss put on me whenever she makes me blush...she knows I found her very, very attractive. And she'll never get over making me blush. I, both, love and loathe in equal measure the seductress that my girlfriend is.

Yaz turns her attention away from me and hops up to her feet. "What do you say to a friendly competition?" She says as she pulls me up and brings me over to Sammy. We stand shoulder to shoulder as the other three do the same. "Like a race? I'd say you're on." Darius says confidently. I grin evilly as I swing my arms around Sammy's and Yaz's shoulder. "On, are we? Darius...tch, tch, tch, tch." I say with mirth as Darius raises an eyebrow at me. "What, Ryan? Scared?" He says as I scowl playfully. "I was going to let us go easy on you...now, I've changed my mind. You just had to poke the bear, didn't ya?" I say as all six start to glare playfully at each other. "Ooh. I like the sound of this. A bet, the fastest to finish their job. I can't wait to blow and burn all those chips and the workshop to smithereens." Sammy says with a slight psychopath slash pyromaniac tone in her voice. We all look at Sammy with concern and slight worry, she blushes in embarrassment and smiles bashful. "Maybe not. Let's not start a massive chemical fire inside the biome." Yaz says in sort of parent disappointment tone. Sammy giggles and looks away. "Heehee. Good call. Don't know what I'll do without you." She says as she playfully punches Yaz in the arm. We all laugh at the banter and playfulness. "How about a campfire on the cliffs in the valley biome?" I offer to the other three. Brooklynn leans slightly and puts her hand on her hip, like a stereotypical high school popular girl. "Sure. We'll meet you there, or should I say, beat you there." She says as Ben and Darius smile smugly. "Losers...roast the marshmallows." Ben says he holds up the bag of marshmallows. Don't know where the hell he found them but thank God that he did. No way in hell, I'm having a campfire without marshmallows. One of the reasons that I didn't join in on Nublar, back at camp. Besides being antisocial and not wanting to talk to anyone...the bonfire didn't have marshmallows. "Excellent. We ready?" Darius says he readies to take off in a bolt. Ben and Brooklynn follow his posture as me, Sammy and Yaz nod to each other and grin in determination. We ready to bolt too. "Ready." Me and Yaz say together. "Steady." Brooklynn and Ben follow me up. "Set." Darius and Sammy say together as we all tense our muscles. "GO!" We shout and bolt right out of the cave, heading into our respective directions. Don't know about the others...but I'm not letting the others win, not by a long shot...and I mean long.

Isla Nublar:

P.O.V Change: Kenji

The journey to the old visitor's centre went without much trouble, a few sightings of a Parasaur or a Pachi but other than that, it wasn't much of a hassle. The one thing that o would complain about is the rocky ass road that Hawkes and the twins decided to take us down, I know that there are not a lot of good, even roads, not that they are maintained anymore but they could have at least gone slower. I think I've hit my head on the car's roof more times than I can count. I look ahead and see that Hawkes has slammed his brakes, forcing the twin that is driving to stop as well. Me and Mae look ahead and see that Hawkes has gotten out and pointed his tranq rifle towards something. I lean to the side and see the reason as to why. "Ankylosaurus." I say as I unbuckle the seatbelt and jump out of the car. Mae and the twins follow me as we stand behind Hawkes. The herd of Ankylosaurs had moved on...why they were running, I have no idea. I just hope that it wasn't a predator...but what would scare a herd of Ankylosaurs. "We scared them off." Hawkes sighs in relief but I shake my head at his naivety. You can't scare an Ankylosaur, they are prehistoric tanks, they'll fight and fight hard. They weren't scared of the Scorpius, so why the hell would they be scared of you? I hear foliage starting to rustle behind me. I turn and prepare myself for whatever is coming. The rustling of leaves and rattling of wood gets louder, I see a faint shape coming barreling at me at full speed. The shape shoots out and lands in front of me, I turn away and shield myself, just in case it's a carnivore.

I hear a familiar below as I open my eyes and turn to the dino...I stand shocked and relieved at the familiar aqua hue scales and asymmetric horns. I smile at the Ankylosaur as she bellows a happy bellow at me. I shout out in joy and kneel down in front of her. "Bumpy!" I grab a hold of the underside of her jaw as she gently nudges me in a happy greeting. "Hey there, Bumper Car...I mean, Bumpy." I say as I remind myself not to show too much emotion, best not to alert Dad to my familiarity with the Ankylosaur. She nudges me some more and licks my face. I groan in slight disgust, but I drone it out. I'm to happy right now to care. "How are you doing, girl? Have you been working out?" I say jokingly as she bellows amusingly. "So this is Bumpy?" I hear Mae say as I turn and see her kneel down beside me. Bumpy seems already taken with her as she gently nudges Mae. For the first time since coming back here ...Mae looks happy, I can see the joy on her face and the love that she has for these animals. "I've heard such wonderful things." Mae says as I chuckle. "I don't doubt it." I say as I think back to when Ben was asked by Mae about his experiences on Nublar. Let's just say that Mae had her ear torn off by all the stories that Ben and Bumpy shared during their time together.

I hear someone coming as both me and Mae turn to see Hawkes loading another tranq into his rifle and pointing it towards Bumpy. Dad stands beside him with a proud look on his face. "Good job, son." He says as I glance between him, Hawkes and Bumpy. The Ankylosaur, not appreciating Hawkes pointing his rifle at her, she growls and waves her tail threatening but dropping it to the ground, a loud bang is heard when she does so. Darius and Ben told me that the herd of Ankylosaurs did this when one of the Scorpius had come across the herd. A defensive intimidation display.

I stand up from the ground and stand in front of Bumpy. Mae stands beside me in the same manner. "Kon. You gonna tell your kid to move or what?" Hawkes says as I look towards Dad, a pleading look on my face. "Kenji, stop Messi g around and step aside." He tells me as I shake my head slightly. Dad's eyes scowl for a split second but drops when he turns to Dodgson and Molina. He chuckles awkwardly at the duo. "Kids, right?" He says but the two stand unamused and unimpressed. Dad turns back to me and walks up to me, a displeased expression on his face. "No, no. You don't understand. Not this one. I'll be happy with any other. Just...not this one." I say to him, trying desperately to get him to understand. "I'm sorry? I don't have time for youthful rebellion, Kenji. You have five seconds to explain to me...why not this one?" He says, pointing to Bumpy for bellows at him. I look down at her in sadness and I steel my emotions and look back at him. "It's personal. This...she...was Ben's. They have a bond, he raised her from the time she was a baby. And...she's my friend, she has gotten me through thick and thin. She saved my life. I owe her." I say to him but he remains unfazed. Mae looks between the both of us and gazes back at Bumpy. "You don't want her anyway. She has aged to maturity, but you can see that she is smaller than the other Ankylosaurus that passed through before. And like at those asymmetrical horns. I mean, you already have a scarred Carnotaurus, do you really want a tiny, wonky Ankylosaurus too." Mae reasons to Dad who glances over his shoulder but to Molina and Dodgson. Dodgson simply has his arms crossed and raises an impatient eyebrow. Dad looks back at us and relaxes his face, he sighs and walks past Mae and stands beside me. He grabs my shoulder proudly and looks back to Dodgson. "Hmm, who knew my boy was so sentimental? Ok, fine, not this one. There's plenty on the island. We can find a more suitable asset for you, Mr. Dodgson." He says while pulling away from Bumpy and back over to the group. I pass Hawkes who is giving Bumpy a hard, angry gaze. I glance back and see the Ankylosaur snort at us and retreats back into the jungle.

Dodgson scoffs at Dad and I and head back to the jeeps. Molina smirks at us and follows Dodgson. I try to act like that everything is fine but when Dad tightens his grip on my bicep and pulls me close...I know that something went wrong. "Don't ever...embarrass me like that again." He says with a hard but clam tone. I'm taken aback and cower under his tone as he breaks from me and walks ahead. I see the glancing look of disappointment and anger at me. I stop and a shameful expression crosses my face when I look at him but he pays me no heed and hops into the jeep. Mae watches me do so before looking back at me, an expression of sympathy and worry on her face. I say my shoulders and walk up to Mae. "You did the right thing." She whispers to me as she places a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Yeah...for who?" I ask sarcastically to her. She tries to answer but nothing is said. I say my shoulders again and walk back to the other jeep, never letting my eyes leave the dirt.

Mantah Corp Island:

P.O.V Change: Brooklynn

Again...for the second day in a row...the jungle and the compound are but abandoned and empty. With the raptors now out of the picture and the BRADs doing God knows what elsewhere, we had a nice, smooth entry into the biome and the compound. I get to the end a hallway that diverts to try lift to the left and Kash's and Kon's office to the right. I hug the wall as Darius and Ben stand behind me. I glance around and see that nothing is there. While I'm glad that the BRADs are elsewhere, we can't be too hasty in our judgement, if anything that I have learnt from being on Nublar and being on this island, you can never be too sure of something, cause if you do, you'll be unprepared for when it kicks you in the teeth. That tidbit of philosophy mostly came from Ryan...damn guy has a strange way of teaching survival...but can't fault him for the results.

I ser the empty hallway and gesture for Ben and Darius to go forward while I'll bring up the rear. They go and head to the door, remaining cautions for any BRADs. I stand behind and look down the other hallway, don't want the BRADs to get the jump onto us from behind. I hear Ben and Darius gasp as they grab my arms and pull back around the corner. "What the-." I go to say but Ben claps his hand over my mouth. "Shh." He says while holding a finger to his lips. I nod and he lets go and Darius points around the corner. I look and see the familiar, dreaded green light of the BRADs. "Guess our luck has run out, huh?" Ben says sarcastically as I glance around the corner and see two BRADs at the end of the hallway, just before Kash's computer room. I move back when one of the robots aims its scanner down towards us. I hold up two fingers, signaling to Darius and Ben about how many there are. "That's fine, we'll distract them. Get into that room and in the system. We'll meet you there when we lose them." Darius says as he and Ben run out in front and stand in the middle of the hallway. I glance around and see both BRADs turn and spot them. "Hey! Can't catch us." Darius shouts as Ben takes a small rock out of his pack. "Come get us, you hunk of junk!" He shouts while hitting one of the BRADs with the rock...it stands unfazed at the action. "Unauthorizedlife forms detected." Both bots say simultaneously as their eyes go red. Darius and Ben make a run for it to the end of the hallway and split to the left and right respectively. The BRADs drop down on all fours and chase after them, passing me by with no knowledge of my presence.

They turn to their respective corners, and I make a break for the computer room. I enter the room and breathe a quick sigh of relief. "First part done. Now for the hard part." I say as I run over and sit down in the chair, bringing the system online. I grin in victory as I find the file folder. "Gotcha. Into the trash you go." I say with a mock-singing voice as I pull one of the folders to the trash icon. The computer buzzes as the folder's green outline turns red. A bar pops up with the words, 'password needed'. I groan in frustration. "I need a password to delete the files?" I question but gasp when I hear metal clanking near the door. "Unauthorizedlife forms detected." I hear one of the BRADs say. "Darius, look out!" I hear Ben shouts as I flinch when the door rattles and the slight gleam of electric blue light is shown in the gaps. "Go, go, go!" Darius shouts as I turn back to the computer. "Come on, Brooklynn. Think."

P.O.V Change: Ryan

Me, Yaz and Sammy hide behind some crates and boxes as the older, repair BRAD moves towards the back. I run parallel to the machine, keeping myself out of sight. I glance around and see that the BRAD has its back completely turned to me. Without looking, I reach my hand back and gesture for the other two to come up to me. I kneel down to the ground, watching the BRAD repairs a half-destroyed BRAD, I grin at seeing the crocodile-like bite marks across its torso. Yaz stands above me, keeping an eye out for any other BRADs they might show up. I see out of the corner of my eye and notice Sammy crawling behind us, so that she can see. "Hey...guys?" Sammy questions quietly. "Yeah?" "What's up?" Yaz and I say respectively, our eyes, not leaving their position. "Nobody's on the island but us, right?" Sammy, again questions quietly as I nod. "Yep." I say to her. "And we said that these repair BRADs aren't lethal, right?" She asks again as Yaz answers. "Riiiggghhhttt." She says, drawing out the word, confusion laced in her voice. "So why are we hiding?" Sammy says in her normal tone as she gets up and walks without a care that the BRAD could see her. Me and Yaz stare wide eyed at her action and glance at each other. "You make a good point." Yaz says with her normal tone as she follows Sammy. "Excellent point." I say as I follow them both. I pass the ruined robots and grin at their destruction. Kash made these things to be indestructible...but like with himself, he overestimated.

We walk up to the main workbench where a toolbox and a few other things are lazily placed. Sammy picks up what looks to be an earbud. "Kash's." Sammy says in disgust as she holds it away from her like it's a dirty tissue. "Oh, this is definitely going in the fire." She says. Me and Yaz just laugh at her antics. I see Yaz pull a small compartment closer to her. I walk over and stand beside her as she opens it, we gasp at the compartment's occupants. "This goes against everything Mae believes in." Yaz says sadly as I pick out one of the two dozen control chips. "Can't believe Kon made her work on these...with Kash, of all people." Yaz says with anger in her voice. I grasp her hand in my own as she looks up at me, I gaze down with a compassionate and promising look. "We make sure that he can't do it ever again. Like Kash, Kon underestimates us...I promise...that we'll make him pay for it." I say as Yaz smiles and brushes her thumb over my knuckles. "Oh, he's...actually, I can't think of a word bad enough to describe him." Sammy starts with anger but drops off when she can't think of anything bad. "Maybe that's enough. Let's take these chips and anything else on here that Kon will want or need." I say both of them nod. "Ready to start a bonfire?" Yaz asks as I smirk. "Hell yeah." I say as I put the chip back in the compartment and Sammy throws the earbud in. Yaz closes it and grabs it under her arm. "Man, this was easier than I thought. On the plus side, we're gonna win by a mile...on the other hand, we'll have to wait forever for those marshmallows." Sammy says, disappointment fills her voice. I hear the BRAD clanking about and an idea pops into my head. "Maybe not." I say with an evil smirk, I glance over and see that Yaz has the same idea. "How do you mean?" Sammy asks as Yaz puts the compartment back down. "Who said that we have to go so soon? Why not have some fun while we wait?" She says as she pulls a crowbar from underneath the bench and passes it to Sammy. She catches it with a slight fumble and looks at us both with wide eyes. Me and Yaz turn our eyes and focus on the BRAD who walks beside us with not a care in the word. "Wait...we said that they're not lethal." Sammy questions as I smirk and take out my axe. "But they do fix...the ones that are, Texas." I say as Sammy ponders who a quick second. "Hmm...you make a good point." She says as she smiles evilly and slams the crowbar into her hand like a baseball bat. Yaz smirks at her attitude and unsheathes her machete. We walk over to the BRAD with happy smiles. I keep relaxing and flexing my grip on the axe handle, I almost salivate at the prospect. We stand before the BRAD who turns its head up to us. Sammy rests the crowbar on her shoulder, keeps her other hand at her hip. Yaz spins her wrist, creating a good flourish twirl of the deadly blade. I flex my grip and tighten my hold on the axe, for which the bearded blade is hovering just in front of the machine's head. "Tough luck, buddy. We're gonna fuck...you...up." I raise my axe up high, every muscle in my body tense and ready to snap. Yaz holds her machete up high like an executioner, Sammy holds her crowbar like a baseball bat, ready to hit the machine right out of the ballpark. Right as about we are about to vent our glee and frustration on the bot...it drops to the ground in a heap. We all look at each other, surprise and confusion etched on our faces. "I think we frightened him." Sammy says jokingly as we look down at the machine. I kneel down and hook my axe to its jaws, prying them open. The bot doesn't react, and I drop it back down...still nothing. "Well, I'm not complaining. Let's get the stuff and get out of here." I say as they nod and head to the door.

Before I leave, I look towards a dark corner of the shop and see an opened box. I recognize it as the one I opened when I found the AR. I walk over and see two other boxes that are along with it. Grabbing the crowbar that Sammy left behind, I pry the other two boxes and see two rifles that are identical to the one that I...'acquired'. I know that Kon isn't morally above using mercenaries, not that the prescribed detail on the boxes is for said mercenaries. With the Kon's gone, we can finally roam unattended and do whatever the hell we want...something that I'm going to do with glee. Hawkes and his cronies are going to be a few weapons short when they eventually get back...oh well, like the old quote says...all is fair in love and war and Kon made it very, very clear...this is definitely...war.

I grabbed a trolley and loaded the guns onto it but not before grabbing a spare bag. I load the mags and the ammo for myself of course, Kon and his mercs aren't going to need them. "Ryan! You coming?" I hear Yaz shout from outside. "Yeah, just grabbing something real quick!" I shout back as I swing the bag over my shoulder and grab the crowbar, might be useful later. I push them trolley out the door, where I find Sammy and Yaz waiting, with Sammy holding tightly on the chip compartment. They look towards me and their eyebrows rise questioningly. "These weapons are Hawkes and the other two mercs...and I'm not letting a professional merc like Hawkes have these." I reason and they nod in agreement. We hold off to the airlock and towards the valley biome.

P.O.V Change: Brooklynn

Few minutes ago

I type every password that I can think of that I believe Kash would have used as his own. So far...nothing. "Come on, Brooklynn. Think faster." I say to myself as I punch in another one but still comes up with nothing. I groan in frustration and slam my fists to the desk on anger. I hear the doors and turn to see Darius and Ben entering and slamming the doors behind them. "Did you get it?" Darius asks as he catches his breath back. "I'm close...I think." I say half-heartedly. Darius goes to say something, but the doors bang behind him and Ben. "Unauthorizedlife forms detected." The muffled voice of the BRADs can be heard on the other side of the doors. "Can you get closer please?" Ben asks sarcastically as the door is hit again, this time with an enough force to push Darius and Ben slightly forward. The both of them drop their entire weight onto the door as I urn my attention back to the computer.

"We got to figure something out. There's no way out of here." Ben says, his voice laced with fear. "We can't. We just have to hold them off long enough. Come on...push." Darius says to Ben as they both push with all they have against the door. I glance over to them as the door is hit again. They are pushed back but right themselves and push back again. I turn to the computer again but something under the keyboard catches my eye. "What hell?" I says as I pull the thing out and it's a slip of paper. The wording on it forces my eyes to go wide. The door bangs open forcibly as I glance really quickly and see Darius and Ben on the floor, three BRADs staring them down. I turn back and punch in the password, I smile for a quick second before finding the BRAD and drone control file. "Unauthorizedlife forms detected." I hear the bots says as I hear their weapons charging up. I type the shutdown code and press 'enter'. I close my eyes and grit my teeth as I await the result. I hear mechanical whirring starting to slow down as I turn around and see the BRADs eyes go dim and their heads hung low. We sigh in relief as I look back at the computer, noticing the image of the island. I zoom in on the facility and smile at all the red dots that represent all the BRADs and the yellow dots for the drones, start to disappear. I stand up from the chair and breath a thankful sigh of relief. "How did you...?" Darius asks as I look to find him next to me, a bewildered look on his face. "Once I figured out Kash's password, I realized destroying the chip specs wasn't the only thing I could do. Nighty night, BRADs." I say as I turn and jokingly wave at the trio of BRADs. "Ok, let's delete these files." I say as I drag the chip specs and the BRAD specs to the trash. "Wait." I hear Ben say before I trash any of it. "Use the USB, these specs could be useful in taking Kon down." He says as mine and Darius eyes light up.

I pull the USB out of my pocket and plug it in the input next to the keyboard. The USB is accepted, and I grin as copy every single file and folder and put it into the USB. "Kon isn't going to happy when he finds out about this." Ben says as I roll my eyes. "If he isn't then give the man a Grammy for his acting skills." I say as the state-of-the-art computer speeds up the copy time. "Into the bin, you go." I say with a sing-song voice as I take the original folders and throw them in the trash. When the last one goes, we all cheer at our success. "Done and dusted." I say as Ben chuckles. "Brooklynn, you are a complete genius." He says in praise as I smirk. "A genius, would have figured out that Kash's password was underneath the keyboard the whole time." I say as Daris raises an eyebrow. "Just out of curiosity...what was the password?" He asks as I pass him the slip. Ben walks over and hovers over Darius's shoulder. "I'm a genius?" Ben questions as both of them look at me. I shrug my shoulders as they just laugh. Suddenly, an idea pops into my head. "Wait a sec...now that I'm in, I can change the password." I say as I sit back down and enter the password settings. "That means...?" Darius asks as I roll my eyes, come on Darius, catch on. "That means...that the Kon's will be locked out of the system. No BRADs, no drones, no chips, no control. No, nothing." I say as I change the password. Darius and Ben smile at me. "Sweet." "Nice." They say as I click my fingers into a gun salute. I get up and walk pass the offline bots, smirking up at the as I go.

Isla Nublar

P.O.V Change: Kenji

When we got back underway to the ruined centre...I think back to the Bumpy incident. Dad looked at me with disappointment...I had seen that look for years, why now does it hurt? I thought that he was proud and for I little moment, one thing that I ask, to leave Bumpy...he does a 180. I don't get it. The rest of the ride was uneventful, Mae tried to comfort me but I shook her off, not in the mood to be coddled or pitied. The sun starting to drop from its peak and a dense collection of storm clouds was heading towards us. "We're here." I hear one of the mercs say as the jeep stops. I look out my door window and see the ruined pile of weathered stone and broken wood. But the thing that catches my eye is the sickly yellow and brown skeleton that lies at the foot of the ruined steps. I get out and shallow my fear and walk to where Dad, Dodgson, Molina are standing. "This is it?" Dodgson asks me but I don't answer as my eyes never leave the skeleton. "Kenji. Kenji...Kenji!" Dad shouts as I blink and look towards him. Molina has an amused look while Dodgson and Dad have impatient gazes. Mae has a look of worry etched on her own. "I'm sorry...just bad memories. Yes...this is the place." I say as Dodgson shrugs and turns to Kon. Dad nods and Hawkes signals to one of the twins to follow him. Both mercs head off into the jungle surrounding the ruins. Dad smiles at Dodgson who simply walks away and stands beside one of the jeeps. I don't know how or why...but my feet take a step closer to the skeleton...and another and another...and another. Until I'm standing centimetres from the blown out and fragmented skull. The smell is bad but not anything that I gotten used to on this island. Flies swarm the decomposing guts and intensities of Scar's remains. A Compy gives me a jump when it jumps onto one of the ribs bones and screeches it at me. The little pest takes a nip out of the hybrid and jumps away, leaving me be.

I kneel down beside the skull, staring intently at the empty eye hole. "I still hear you, you know." I say to the bones...not really know why I'm doing this but I feel that I need to get this off my chest. "In my nightmares. I see your eyes, blood red...gazing at me from the darkness. I hear your ragged breathing like your right next to me but when I turn... you're not there." My eyes go hard as I clench my fist, I stare a hard gaze through the empty eye hole. "You tried to kill me, kill my friends. You nearly killed Ryan...that night, that's something that will never leave me. I'm glad that Ryan got you on the end...I know that you didn't ask to be made but you deserved to die. But know this...in whatever hell you're rotting in...I thank you. You and the other one...made me realize that...my friends, were always going to stand beside me...look out for me. You brought us closer together than ever before. Whatever mistakes they made... whatever I made...that can be forgiven, but I can't forgive you. I can thank you, and I do...but I can never forgive the horror that you, the other one and the Indominus brought onto us." I say my piece as I brush a loose tear away and sniffle my nose. I stand up from Scar, giving him one last look before walking back over to the rest of the group. Dodgson looks at me with wide eyes, as does Dad and Mae. Molina gives me an uncaring look but I ignore her. "Kenji..." Dad goes to place an arm on my shoulder but what he said earlier hits me again. I slap his hand away and walk past him. I lean against the jeep and cross my arms. I feel everyone's eyes on me but I drone it out...they judge me because of my age, my maturity...pfft. I want them to see...see them survive the hell that is this island. They think that they know dinosaurs, know what they're capable of...they don't have the faintest idea.

About half an hour passes and I look up and see the Dodgson checking his watch. I roll my eyes at his impatience as I trail my eyes to the surrounding jungle. Hawkes and the other guy aren't back yet...and there hasn't been any sign of Blue. I hear a grunt as I turn back and see Hawkes and the other merc entering the clearing. "Didn't find squat. Place is abandoned and completely destroyed. No tracks, no carcasses...doesn't seem like a place that a predator would inhabit." Hawkes says as he and Dodgson turn back to me. "You said there'd be a raptor here, kid." Dodgson says, condescendingly but I raise my arms in warning. "Just...be on your guard. This is no ordinary Raptor...Blue is smarter than you think." I say as Hawkes scoffs. "An animal is still an animal. And an animal needs a place to sleep, so where is it?" He asks as I look around, trying to spot the familiar blue scales. "This is where she was, I last time I saw her." I say as Dodgson speaks. "And when was that? Think that she's sitting here, waiting for you?" He asks conscendingly...again. I steel my eyes and glare at him. "No...because this is her territory. She knows where to hide...where to hunt...where to observe." I say as Dodgson raises an eyebrow. "What? Only one raptor on the island or something? What about the ones Grady was working with?" Dodgson asks Dad as my eyes light up. That's right, Grady... Owen Grady, Ryan's uncle, he worked with the Velociraptors. But when me, Darius, Yaz and Ryan ran into Blue, Ryan stated that the others would be here if Blue is...she's alone. "They're gone. One of my friends...Ryan, he's Owen Grady's nephew. He doesn't know much about the Raptors but form what Grady told him, and in turn told me...raptors will always stick together. We ran into Blue a few weeks ago...and she was alone. The other raptors are dead." I say as Mae speaks up behind me. "He's right. Plus...if they were more...they would be more challenging to our presence here. Raptors are anything but scared...a pack would not be afraid of a few men with tranq guns and a group that has no way of defending themselves."

Mae says with a cocky smile as Dad gives her a dirty look. "Then find her. I don't pay to have my time wasted." Dodgson demands. I give him a subtle, cold gaze. Have some patience for fucks sake. These are dinosaurs, not computers, not people... dinosaurs. They don't care about your time or your money...so just relax...God. "I assure you, that we're not going to waste any more of your time." Dad says as he walks to stand beside Dodgson. As he finishes his assurance, he turns his eyes to me, they are filled with disappointment. He blames me for this mess. I feel ashamed at his disappointment but I hide that shame down and narrow my eyes slightly at his look. His expression shifts for a split second in surprise but nonetheless returns to his neutral gaze as he turns back to Dodgson. I hear a loud clanking as I gasp in fright, I turn and see Hawkes kicking an abandoned and weathered storage container. "Stop. What the hell are you doing?" I say as I run over and pull him back. "What does it look like?" Hawkes questions as I grit my teeth. "It...looks like an idiot making a shit ton of noise. What are you trying to do? Lure every hungry and curious predator here?" I ask sarcastically, Hawkes rolls his eyes and gestures to the jungle. "Well, I'm trying to get the damn raptor's attention. I'm not going to waste time out there, looking for her when I could simply bring her here." He says to me as I slap my forehead. "That's the dumbest idea I have ever heard. I just said before that this isn't your typical raptor. Blue is smart... terrifyingly so." I try to reason but Hawkes rolls his eyes. "Kid, the damn thing is an animal not fucking Einstein." He says smugly. I hear leaves rustles as I notice something past Hawkes head. I look over and gasp when I see Blue stick her head up out of the bush. A curious chirp is heard as my eyes widen in fear...how the hell did she do that? Hawkes sees my reaction and turns sharply. Blue screeches in fury at us as Hawkes fires two shots, Blue is able to dodge the shots and runs off into the jungle. I hear other shots from the twins, but I shout to them. "Don't waste your ammunition!" I say as Hawkes turns around. "After her!" He shouts as he and the twins run off after Blue. I trail behind them as Dad, Mae, Dodgson and Molina follow behind.

We slowed down after losing the trail. I look down and see wild raptor tracks all over the path. She is trying to mess with us, confuse us. If this was any other animal, I would be very impressed but since it's Blue...it's just scary to think about. Hawkes leads from the front, keeping his tranq rifle at the ready in case decided to show...but with the amount of walking that we have done in order to find her...I have no doubt that we are now a good mile away from the ruins. She is either drawing us away for the ruins and leaving us in the dust...or leading us somewhere. A trapz perhaps. "We should go back." I say aloud but no one heeds me. "Don't worry, Kenji. We will have her soon." Dad says as I shake my head...again, you refuse to listen. Before I can voice my disagreement, the leaves to our right are rustled as Hawkes snaps to them. The twins follow suit behind him. We await and all we get is a Compy jumping out. The little dino screeches at us as we all breathe a sigh of relief. I walk through the trees, just a short distance from the group and see something that makes me confused. An old Jurassic Park jeep. "Hey! Over here!" I shout at to the group who I hear coming towards me. I walk up to the jeep, looking down and see the back wheels caught on an old log. The paint coat has lost its colour and rust covers the vehicle. "What is it?" I hear Molina asks as I jump slightly. I turn and see the group here. "It's an old jeep. From the old park." Dad says as I gaze at the dirty window. I try to gaze in and see what's inside but nothing can be seen. I look down at the door hatch and pull it. A distinct click can be heard as I look at the group. Hawkes holds his gun up as everyone prepares themselves. I pull the door open...and I'm hit by the foulest smell that I have very smelt. I feel bile build up as I move away and retch my stomachs contents off the side. "What? What is it?" Dodgson says as everyone looks inside and pulls back from the smell. The only that seems ok with it is Hawkes. Molina is having a hard time keeping her lunch down...I groan and wipe an vomit away.

"What is it?" Dad asks as Hawkes grabs hold of something and pulls it out, we all jump at the brown skeleton and torn flower shirt. "What the fuck!" Molina shouts as Dodgson covers his nose. "Looks like someone didn't make it out." Hawkes says with no emotion in his voice. He bends down and picks something from the corpse and holds it up. I see that it's an I.D tag. "Anyone know a Dennis Nerdy?" Hawkes says as Dodgson's eyes go wide, he walks over and snatches the tag. Dodgson gazes at the tag...almost like it's something from the past. "For over 20 years...I kept asking the same questions. Where did it go wrong? Where did he go? What happened? Now...I can put those questions to rest." Dodgson says with a soft voice, almost sad if I had to hazard a guess. He wipes the dirt and gunk off the tag and puts it in his bag. "We have move of our mission. Find the raptor." He says as we all snap back into what we were meant to be doing. I hear chittering coming from all around us as everyone panics. Blue is close...almost right on top of us. Creaking can be heard as well as soft growls. We all trunk from where we came as a large shadow is seen through the trees. All of a sudden, the leaves are blasted away while tree trunks splinter from great force. The large dinosaur burst through and levels a thunderous roar at us. I recognize the familiar horns and significant burnt scar tissue on the predator's face. "Allison." I say in dread as we all run for cover. "Take it down!" One of the twins says as Allison charges. Dodgson yelps in fright and throws himself under the jeep. Dad and Mae trip over and fall onto the foliage. I try to run but Allison, who tries to snap up Molina, incidentally, swings her tail. I don't get the full hit, but I'm sent tumbling down the steep hill and to the dirt. I come too and see Allison, banging her head against the jeep, trying to get to Dodgson. "Hey! Allison!" I shout out and the ferocious carnivore turns her sights on me. Oh shit. Her amber eyes narrow in hate, her claws tense as her tongue rolls over her front teeth. "Uhh...little help here!" I shout out as Allison charges towards me. I dive out of the way of her snapping jaws. I crawl ahead until I find a hollow log and crawl through it. The ground shakes beneath me as Allison matches up to me and pushes the log. I try to hold on but the rolling motion of the log sends me up, down, lift and right. The Allosaur roar echoes as she bites down on the log, her teeth crunching through the wood. "Help! Someone! Help!" I shout out as I try to crawl to the other end of the log but Allison's foot stops me in my tracks.

I hear a whoosh as I look through a tooth gap and see Allison flaying about, and a smoke trail of a flare being sent at her. I crawl out and see Hawkes and the twins firing flares at the carnivore who, in a panic, tries to shake the flares off of her. "Fire! She hates fire!" I shout out as I run pass Allison and rejoin the group. Dodgson pulls a deodorant can, off all things, out of his pack and hands it to Dad. Dad lights a glare and points the can behind the flame. Dad pulls the can trigger down and a stream of fire is sent towards Allison who roars in fright and charges away...fleeing the dreaded fire in terror. I breathe a sigh of relief as I relax my arms against my legs and get my breathing back. That...was too close. I hear a chittering to my side and see the blue scales and amber eyes of Blue. She sulks back into the shadows and runs off...she set a trap, she lured us here...knowing that Allison would come.

Dad and Dodgson acknowledge each other as Dad gives Hawkes and the twins the order to escort the group back to the penthouse. I walk up behind him, only to find an anger filled look on his face. "You led us...right into an Allosaur territory?" He says accusingly at me. "No, I didn't...Blue did. I told you, told you all. She's..." I try to defend myself to him but he points an accusing finger at me. "You also told me that you know this island like the back of your hand." He says as Hawkes calls out from behind. "There's no sign of the raptor, boss. The kid sent us on a wild goose chase. Way to help out, greatly appreciated." The mercenary says sarcastically as I hang my head. I look up at Dad who simply shakes his head. "I thought that you were ready for this, Kenji. Guess I was wrong. It's not your fault, it's mine. You're still just a child and I was wrong to think that you could handle it." He says with a disappointed tone. He looks at me one last time, a disappointed look on his face before walking away, rejoining with Hawkes and the others. I look tot eh ground in anger and shame. How did it all go wrong? I tried to help, I provided the answers when no one else did...them of this was my fault, you didn't want to listen...why doesn't anyone listen? I vent my frustration out with a clenched fist but I drop it when I realize that I can't change it now, I look up and follow after Dad.

We returned to the ruins. Me, Mar and Molina would stay behind while the others go and retrieve the wanted dinosaurs. Molina stayed, cause she didn't want to go, Mae because Dad told her not to and me...cause I couldn't handle any more of my dad's disappointment. I sit on the ground with my back to one of the jeeps. I pick and flick pebbles, trying to distract myself but nothing I do breaks me from what Dad told me. I thought that he was proud of me, that he trusted me. Haven't I proven that I'm trustworthy, that I'm useful? Today wasn't even my fault. They didn't, no, they refused to listen when I warned them about Blue. She was too smart for any of us to go after her half assed. She didn't even have to attack us...she simply lures us to a place that she knows that a bigger predator would be, it just so happens to be Allison of all things. "Go away, bastardos. Leave me be, for fucks sake." I get up and look over the hood and see Molina throwing rocks at a trio of Compy's. I roll my eyes at her childish attitude. That's another thing, me and Mar have the most dinosaur knowledge in the entire group and yet, no one listens. I sit back down and lean my head back against the jeep, I close my eyes and try to get some rest but I'm too angry and pissed off to rest. Why...why can't, for once...something work out the way that I want it? Is that, literally too hard to ask for? I hear someone coming and I open an eye and see Mae sitting beside me. I close my eye and try again to get some rest.

"Are you ok?" She asks with a soft worried tone as I scoff. "Before all this...I didn't care if he was proud of me or not. Until these last six, seven months...I've changed. Ever since we reunited, all I wanted was for him to look at me with pride and say that he was happy and proud of me, proud to call me his son. One moment, he's treating me like a proud father and partner, his confidante. And the next...but to his stupid, lazy... disappointment of a son." I say as I look towards her. Her eyes are slightly, a sad expression on her face. "So to answer your question...no...I'm not ok." I say as I pick a pebble and throw it away. "Kenji...you shouldn't have to be making your father money to earn his love." She says as I glance at her. She goes to say something, but we turn away when the leaves are rustled on front of us. Coming out of the bush are Dad, Hawkes and Dodgson. Dad and Dodgson have their own controllers in hand, they must have found what they were looking for. We stand as Dad pushes his dinosaur forward. My eyes widened at the familiar Baryonyx of Grim. Dodgson commands his forward as a small Dimorphadon flies out of the trees and lands in beside him. One of the twins walks out with his own controller as well and commands his forward. I stare wide eyed at the new dino that I haven't seen before. It looks like a Velociraptor, only bigger and meaner looking. It has feathers that cover its entire front half, leaving it's legs, hops and tail, scaled.

"A Utahraptor." Mae says in shock as I take in the new dino. Great, just great. Couldn't get Blue, so we grabbed a different but bigger raptor. That's just poetic.

Mantah Corp Island:

P.O.V Change: Ryan

The sun was starting to set. Me, Yaz and Sammy were on our way out of the biome and facility. Sammy still has hold of the box and Yaz has some sticks that she picked up along the way. I continue to pain the trolley, I see the airlock just up ahead...but I take in the beautiful scenery of the biome. The setting sun, the orange hue, casting a peaceful feel over us, the birds, quietly chirping away. Couldn't ask for a better scene. "Sometimes, it's hard to believe how beautiful this forest really is." Yaz says as me and Sammy look over to here. "Say what now?" "Did I hear that right?" Sammy and I say respectively as Yaz blushes in embarrassment. "Sorry, it's just...this place would be kind of amazing...if there weren't giant dinosaurs and killer robots everywhere." She says as we all laugh at the joke. "It's true though. My dad used to tell me that sometimes...the most dangerous places are often the most beautiful. And I can see that he was right. Nublar, despite the hell that we went through, had some beautiful moments. This island has beautiful moments and places. It's a shame about what this place is used for...but that doesn't take its beauty away." I say with a happy smile as I gaze up at the towering trees. "Damn, who knew you so poetic?" Yaz says teasingly as I playfully push her away. "I just hope...that after all this, someday...we can go to a real forest together." Sammy says as Yaz stops and look at her. I do the same as Sammy looks at us both. "You'd really do that? Go camping with me? With us?" She says while gesturing to me. Sammy looks at me as I nod my own agreement and happiness at the offer. "Just try and stop me, Track-star." Sky says happily as she bolts ahead of us. We hear her happy giggling as we watch her go...our smiles become wider as we chase after her. We catch her at the airlock and enter.

Isla Nublar:

P.O.V Change: Kenji

Night had finally fallen, and we returned to eh penthouse. Grim, the Dimorphadon and the Utahraptor trailed behind the jeeps as we arrive. We see Toro off to the side of the building, still standing there from where me and Hawkes left him that morning. I exit out of my Jeep and see Dad and Dodgson talking...walking over to Grim as they do so. I pocket my hands as I watch Dad and Dodgson laugh at the latter's antics in commanding Grim. I roll my eyes and head to the penthouse, I've had enough for one day, time to get some shut one. I hear a gasp next to me as I turn and see Molina pulling Dodgson bag out of the jeep. We stare at each other, motionless...I finally snap out of it and glare at her. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" I ask as she narrows her eyes and runs off into the jungle. "Hey! Stop! Dodgson, Molina took your bag!" I shout out to him as he and Dad turn to me. I don't wait for a reply and bolt after Molina, while I don't like the bitch, nighttime on Nublar is the predator's kingdom, going out alone is suicide.

I run past foliage and bush as I chase after her. I jump over a rock and continue to chase, I see her just up ahead but little does so now of the steep ravine drop into a river. I divert away from my course and head down the side, running parallel to the riverbank. I hide in the brush as I see Molina try to find a way across the river. She hides and turns around to head back. I push myself from the bush and throw myself in her running path, out collision sends us both to the ground in a heap. We look up and see each other and then the bag in between us. I charge forward to grab it while Molina crawls with all her might. We grab the bag at the same time and try to overpower the other in ripping it away. "They went this way!" I hear Hawkes says as Molina tries desperately to pull the bag away but I keep a tight grasp onto it. "Kenji!" Dad shouts as I glare a hole through Molina. "Between make a choice. Deal with us...or the jungle. You're choice." I say as she glared and grits her teeth. After a few seconds debating, she eventually let's go and runs off into the jungle. I hear screeching as I look to my feet and see a while swarm of Compy's, coming from behind me, the sides etc and chase after Molina. I shake Molina unfortunate away as I brush the dirt and grim off the bag. I hear footsteps coming as I turn and see Dad and Dodgson coming up beside me. I hand the bag back to Dodgson who nods his head thankfully at me. "Well done. I am in your debt." He says as he scrounges the bag for something. "What was that about?" Dad asks. "What's in the bag that she wanted so bad?" I follow up as Dodgson pulls out a folder. "BioSyn's entire prospectus is in here. It would fetch quite a fortunate on the black market." He says as my eyes widen. So Molina was a someone that was trying to work Dodgson, to gather information that can be sold. "When I get a hold of the woman..." Dodgson begins to say but a throat clearing interrupted him. We turn to see Hawkes coming out of the shrubbery with a bloody phone. Molina's phone. "I don't think you're gonna get the chance." He says as I realize that the Compy's have just added another to their list of victims. I told her, Mae told her...hell, everyone did. Don't mess with the small ones, they are the ones you least suspect. "As a small thank you, I'll double your asking price, if you deliver the chips and the assets, we tagged in two weeks. " I hear Dodgson say as I narrow my eyes...of course, back to business...always fucking business. I turn and see Dad smile and shake Dodgson's hand. "Won't be problem."

Manta Corp Island:

P.O.V Change: Ryan

Never...will I ever...get over this view. While I despise Mantah Corp and whatnot, I have to give them credit, they can create some amazing environments and the most beautiful scenery. I look out over to the 'horizon' of the valley biome, the simulated setting sun casting a nice orange and yellow hue over the rocky peaks. I look up and see the environment starting to slowly change as the sun sets completely. The orange and yellow light dimming to a dark blue and black...I thought that it would change from a sunset to a bland, boring night-sky...but I was so wrong. Thousands of stars had lit the sky, I gaze up with a happy smile, remembering the quiet nights when we would star gaze back on Nublar. Darius, Ben and Kenji would always turn it into a game of trying to find as many constellations as they can find. Kenji would always give you and Ben would have a hard time trying to find one. Not that Darius was any better. "Enjoying yourself?" I hear Yaz ask as I break from my thoughts and turn back to see both her and Sammy staring at me with amused smiles. "Very much so." I say as I smile back and see the trolley that I brought. "Let's get this done." I say as I walk over and push the trolley to the edge of the cliff face. "So...what are you going to do?" Sammy asks as I smile evilly. I give a forceful kick to the trolley as Yaz and Sammy gaze wide eyed as it descends down the cliff. The echoing crash of metal and rock echoes through the valley and over the mountains. I stare down with my eyes filled with mirth as I wipe my hands against which other, like I'm wiping dust off. "Now that that's sorted, let's get the fire going." I say as I walk away from the cliff. Sammy and Yaz stare at me with shocked expressions before looking at each other. Both of them shrug and follow after me.

The fire has been set and lit. We sit on rocks and logs that are close by to the fire. Sammy places the compartment between the three of us. "I'm so happy that we won. Of course...I couldn't have done it without the best partner in the world." Sammy says as we pick up the chips. I stare at Sammy with a toaster eyebrow. "Uhh-hmm." I fake-clear my throat as Sammy and Yaz stare at me. "Oh...and you too, Ryan." Sammy says teasingly as I chuckle and shove her playfully. We throw out chips into the fire as we pick up some more." I think that I might have been a super easy race." Yaz says as she throws her second batch in. "Hmm...tomato, tomato. We still won." I say as I throw the last batch of chips. I pick up the war bud and pass it to Sammy. "Sammy...you should have the honor." I say as she stares at me with a happy and grateful look. She takes it from me, gazing at it with a slight sorrowful look...she steels her expression and drops it into the fire. "That took more of a load than I thought." She says with sadness in her voice. Me and Yaz look at each other and nod. Yaz scoots closer to Sammy as I sit on her other side. She looks between us as we wrap our arms around me, offering a comforting hug. Sammy sniffles and wraps her arms around our own, like she's cuddling her favourite teddy bear. "Kash is gone, Sammy. He can't hurt you or anyone else ever again." I say as we break away, Sammy sniffles again and wipes a tear from her eyes. "Thanks, y'all. I really needed that...I love you, guys." She says as we smile happily at her. "And we, you." Yaz says as I smile in agreement.

We hear laughter coming from the side as we turn and see Brooklynn, Darius and Ben walking up to us. We smile smugly at their arrival. "Looks like the losers finally decided to show." Yaz says with fake mocking as Darius and Brooklynn sit on a rock adjacent to us. Ben tires to be cool and parkour over it but fails and lands on his ass. We all hide out amusement as he slithers back onto the rock. "Ok...but to be fair...that chip burn was definitely the easier job." He pouts. "Mission accomplished, though." Sammy asks as Brooklynn smirks. "Oh yeah." She says as Darius follows up. "We were almost robot food but we deleted the blueprints." He says as Brooklynn looks at her nails. "Hmm...and then shut down all the drones and BRADs, changed the password to the system. Downloaded every dirty little secret onto the USB." Brooklynn lists off as she passed the USB to Ben who places it on his pack. "The Kon's are officially locked out." Brooklynn finishes as she high fives both Darius and Ben. "Honestly...I don't know if we really lost at all." Darius tries to wave off but me, Yaz and Sammy gibe them amused, 'nah, don't believe you' expressions. "You still lost...pass the damn marshmallows." I say as Ben sighs in defeat. "Here is our tribute to you, great victors of the one-sided race." He says jokingly as he throws us the marshmallows. We all pick our own sticks and start to roast out marshmallows. Me and Yaz sit close, with Yaz leaning her head on my shoulder. The smell of the marshmallows fills my nose, immediately shooting dopamine throughout my body. "Definite could have been worse." Ben says as he pulls his flaming marshmallow out of the fire, blowing out the flame. "It was kinda fun. Besides the surprise BRAD attack, of course." He says as Sammy laughs. "Kinda fun?" She asks jokingly as Darius shrugs happily. "Well...the nights not over yet. Why don't we play a game?" Brooklynn offers as I chuckle. "And what game...do you suggest, Superstar?" I say as she ponders. "How about... Two Truths and One Lie?" She says as Ben laughs. "Woo-hoo. Let's make it interesting...Ryan, you go first." He says but I send a playfully glare at him. "Yeah, over my dead body, buddy." I reply back with a smile as everyone laughs at my antics. Ah...what would I be without this lot...I can't even think of anything...and I am all the more grateful for it...and for them.

Isla Nublar:

P.O.V Change: Kenji

Night had fallen and I still haven't found any peace of mind. I sit out the front of the penthouse, gazing up at the stars. My eyes search for any constellations...to my shame, I don't find any. I remember back when Darius would force me and Ben to play 'try and find the constellations'. I either agreed to humor him or to force boredom away...I usually would usually quit the game as soon as it started. I remember the first time I did it and I'll never forget the lol of hurt on Darius's face. I see now that he was trying to become my friend but, in my arrogance, I laughed and basically called him and his game stupid. I hang my head as more moments start to fill my head. Moments that make me feel disappointed and shame at myself. Actions and moments that hurt my friends and I was either too arrogant, ignorant or dumb to realize. I sigh in tiredness as I hang my head. I hear a soft growl as I look over and see Toro, still standing where I left him this morning. "Try and get some sleep, bud." I say sadly as I look down at the controller with slight anger and force him to sleep. Toro kneels down and lays his head down...going to sleep almost immediately. "No bedtime story?" Dad asks as I jump in fright at the unexpected question. "He's a dinosaur...why would he need one?" I ask as I look down at the controllers screen, seeing Toro's brainwave data...he is completely passed out. "I remember when you would ask for one before you went to bed." Dad says as I scoff mentally to myself. "I was a child, and you would always get mom to do it. You said that you had other things to do." I say with an even tone...refusing to let emotion influence my veiled insult. I hear Dad sigh as he kneels beside me. An awkward silence reign between us. "You know...Dodgson was very impressed with you." He says as I shake my head slightly, of course, back to Dodgson again. To business...again. "Why? All I did was get his bag back." I say with annoyance, I didn't want his approval not his thanks. "Doesn't matter. He's happy. And if the investors happy, well, then the money keeps coming in. And that, son...makes me the happiest of all." He says as I gaze at him out the corner of my eye. "That's good. That's good for business." I say...lying through my teeth. My eyes narrow slightly at his statement. So am I just second fiddle to lining your pockets. Why am I surprised really...you spent my 11th birthday, golfing with POTUS, the only thing that you had to say to Mom about it was that you had a business meet to go to...you didn't know that I snuck into your office and saw all you photos with the President. "Yes, it is. For both of us. Come on in, it's getting late." Dad says, not noticing my slightly narrowed eyes. "I'll be in there in just a bit. I want to catch some sights of the stars. It helped calm me down...you know...during..." I say, implying my time on this island. Dad smiles and nods his head at my request. "Of course, son. Take you time but be wary." He warns me as I nod. I watch him walk away as I stare angrily at his retreating back. So, I disappoint you, you call me a child but when I do something that benefits you and the business...I'm, all of a sudden, back in your good graces? I tighten my grips on the controllers almost cracking the plastic around the edge. Why can't you ever say you are proud of me, simply because you are proud of me...not just because I did something that helped you with something that you care about. Why can't you care about what I care about? But then again...when have you ever?
