Sneaky Strikes from the Shadow Itself
"And… Done, glad to be through with that." Carrot Cake sighed in relief as he just finished stacking some boxes in the basement.
"Everything alright, dear?" Chiffon asked, calling out from upstairs.
"Everything's fine, just finished with the boxes that came in." Carrot responded.
"I have I say, I wasn't expecting to be the sudden folks to win a contest for cherries and bananas." Chiffon said.
"Tell me about it, I felt my heart was gonna explode when that man came bursting in right in front of me through the door." Carrot chuckled as he walks back up.
"We didn't even sign up for a contest, yet the man said we won because our name appeared on their roaster." Chiffon mentioned.
"That was a one in a million chance no one thought would happen, I say it was crazy of sweetness!" Carrot commented.
"Oh, you can say that again, sweetie." Chiffon giggled.
"Good thing we were able to do this right after closing, didn't want to run the risk of doing the boxes during rush hour." Carrot said.
"Now, I believe we earned ourselves some little sweets before heading up to the twins." Carrot suggested.
"I believe you are right, let's get some strawberry and blueberry cupcakes along with a couple of lemon cake." Chiffon suggested.
"Liking the way you think, sweetie dear." Carrot nodded.
While Chiffon is getting the cupcakes from the front of their sweet café, her shadow is seen on the wall and a shadow of a hand appears getting closer to Chiffon from behind then it forms into a fist shaking a little before opens again.
Then suddenly the shadow hand swings down and smacks onto the shadow of Chiffon's butt which made the Cake wife yelp in surprise.
"Honey, I know you enjoy my sweet butt and all, but I didn't expect you to go for a slap." Chiffon said blushing a little.
"What are you talking about? I'm already going upstairs." Carrot said as he was halfway up on the staircase.
"What, but I know I felt something slapped my butt." Chiffon confused.
Chiffon looked around seeing there is not a single person inside save for herself, yet she couldn't help feeling that there is someone here and becomes a little nervous too.
"If there is anyone here, then you better know that slapping a woman's bottom is a no-no, especially when this one is a married woman." Chiffon warned.
Nothing but silent in the room as this makes Chiffon worried a bit more as she quickly gather the cupcakes and slice of the lemon cake, hurrying to the stairs meeting up with her husband hoping that it was nothing and it was just her imagination.
Suddenly she felt her butt was spanked again causing the woman to jump in fear as she quickly turns around to see the culprit only to find no one there.
"Honey, I think we might have a problem." Chiffon alerted as she hurries upstairs meeting up with her husband,
"What's the matter, dear?" Carrot asked, seeing the worry look on his wife's face.
"I don't know, something weird just happened when I thought you slapped my butt early." Chiffon mentioned as she set the sweets down.
"Wait, there is someone on in our house?" Carrot shocked.
"That's what I thought too, but twice so far, I felt my butt was struck and when I turned around, there is no one around." Chiffon explained.
"You're making it sound like we have a g-g-ghost in the house!" Carrot stuttered in fear.
"Now, now, I'm not saying it's a ghost or anything, but it's something bad and-OW!" Chiffon shocked when she felt her butt being smacked again.
"There it is again!" Chiffon gasped.
"Yeah, and I definitely heard it this time." Carrot nodded, then suddenly felt something hit his right shoulder, spooking the man.
"Okay, wh-whoever you are, you better not mess with us because we know how to make things messy when we want too!" Carrot warned though a little shaken in fear.
Unknown to the husband and wife, there is a third shadow figure standing very close to the Cake's shadows as this shadow starts slapping and smacking onto them with the chuckling motion, seeing the couple become scared and reacting to its unseen touch. The shadow decided that it's time to get going and headed out of the slightly open window, leaving into the darkness of the night.
Carrot and Chiffon are seen hugging onto each other while shaking in fear of what just happened to them.
(Morning)
"Do-do-do-do! Scooby-Dooby Doo!" Pinkie singed while making some pancakes for breakfast while Jessica is working on the eggs.
"I always love that theme song, even over half a century that song continues to make its way to the here and now." Jessica smiled.
"You can say that again, I just love the way the show keeps coming back into something new while keeping the core of each character intact." Pinkie nodded before doing a high flip.
"But there were a few disappointments, like that "Be Cool, Scooby-Doo" show." Jessica mentioned.
"Girl, don't even get me started! I actually hated that show, and I rarely hate anything, like EVER." Pinkie stated.
"Luckily, there are those latest movies to make up and few were even crossovers." Jessica pointed out.
"Oh yeah, that made me feel better." Pinkie smiled and flip the last pancake on top of a tall stack of pancakes.
"Don't you think you've gone overboard with making those?" Jessica asked.
"Me, overboard with pancakes? Never!" Pinkie proclaimed as she carries the plate with her hands.
"Besides, if you think this is overboard then wait until you see what I can do for brunch." Pinkie smirked as she skips away.
This got Jessica concern from all the crazy and silly things this girl is capable of as the other supernatural detectives would not be able to figure out this girl at all, then she giggles knowing she is a force of good and a fellow wife of Flash.
"Hope you guys are hungry!" Pinkie sang as she places the pancakes at the center of the table.
"Gosh, Pinkie, don't you think you're going a bit overboard?" Flash asked.
"Funny, Jessica asked that same question." Pinkie mentioned.
"So, anyone got any plans for today since it's Saturday?" Jessica asked as she set the plate of scramble eggs down.
"Besides going to the office waiting for another case, not much except for me drawing my comic books." Sunset answered.
"Is it another one about you and the Rainbooms being superheroes?" Flash asked as Pinkie gave him three pancakes.
"No, I'm taking a break from that for now and doing something different. You could think of it as a sad and dangerous kind of story." Sunset mentioned.
"What kind?" Jessica asked.
"Well, the character is mostly us, but fifty years have passed and everything in the world has been destroyed into a giant wasteland of the apocalypse!" Sunset explained in a deep exciting tone.
"Whoa, that sounds epic and intense!" Flash commented.
"You bet it is, and we got separated from the caused of a magical blast that we couldn't stop until we slowly come back together except there is a twist for one of us." Sunset explained a little more about her comic.
"Sounds so cool, I'm getting goosebumps!" Pinkie excited.
"That's nice, anyone else with their plans?" Jessica asked the other two.
"My bandmates and friends have their own plans, so I'll be hanging out with you at the nightclub." Flash shrugged before taking a piece of the scramble egg.
"I'm gonna be working at the Sugarcube Corner, the Cakes texted me last night that they won a contest getting boxes of cherries and bananas." Pinkie informed.
"Really? I didn't know they enter a contest." Jessica surprised to hear that.
"They didn't, it's like one those contest that chooses random people and give them any prizes even when some are small prizes." Pinkie mentioned.
"Wow, talk about a million chance." Sunset commented.
"That's what Mr. Cake said last night." Pinkie said, breaking the fourth wall a little.
"I can't wait to see those cherries and bananas while imaging all kinds of sweets we'll make together!" Pinkie excited with her body shaking of excitement.
"It's always sweets with you, that just makes you cuter!" Flash smiled causing Pinkie to blush.
"Aw, thank you!" Pinkie thanked and jumped onto Flash to kiss him on the lips.
"Just for that, I'm going to make you a free treat if you like to come Sugarcube corner before going to the office." Pinkie offered.
"Are you sure, that doesn't seem like a good business to give away something free." Flash said.
"Don't worry, it's just one little cupcake and the Cakes won't mind either as long as I'll work a little much to pay off for the cupcake." Pinkie explained.
"Well, if you're willingly then who am I to turn that down." Flash smiled.
"Great, to Sugarcube Corner!" Pinkie excited pointing towards the sky.
(Sugarcube Corner)
Flash and his three wives arrived at the sweet café for Pinkie to start working while the others to get some sweets before heading to the office.
"Mister and Misses Cake, I'm here to get my sweet on!" Pinkie called out cheerfully.
However, there wasn't a response to Pinkie's call which is strange to her because the Cakes would always answer her loud cheery call, and her narrow her eyes at the scene.
"Something strange is going on here." Pinkie said.
"Maybe they're still getting ready in the kitchen." Sunset guessed.
"No, that's not possible." Pinkie denied and took a big, deep breathing through the nose.
Immediately upon sniffing the air, she eyes widen of shock with the sounds of glass shattering in the background and her eyes literally shattering before quickly putting them back together.
"THERE'S NO SWEET IN THE AIR?!" Pinkie freaked out.
"Pinkie, is that you?" Chiffon called out.
"Yes, and it's us as well, Chiffon." Jessica responded.
"Oh my sugar shock, I wasn't expecting to see you here this early." Chiffon surprised.
"How about being more surprised that there is not a single smell of sweets in the air! Why aren't you making the sweets?!" Pinkie screamed, scaring Chiffon a little.
"Easy, Pinkie, she'll explain everything after you calm down." Jessica massaged Pinkie's shoulders.
Pinkie starts to calm down taking a deep breath along with counting to ten feeling the stress and a little angry.
"Thanks, I needed that." Pinkie nodded and turned to Chiffon.
"Sorry about losing my head like that, Mrs. Cake. You know how I can be when it comes to sweets." Pinkie apologized.
"That's okay, I'm sorry for the lack of sweets. Me and Carrot haven't gotten any sleep all night…" Chiffon exclaimed.
"Did the twins kept you up?" Jessica asked.
"No, the twins were fine and slept peacefully… Unlike us when we were freaking out about the thing that snuck into our home last night." Chiffon mentioned.
"A thing?" Sunset wondered what the sweet mother could mean.
"We're not really sure what it was. At first, I felt something slap my butt yet there wasn't anything there then that same thing smacks us for a while until it stops, we were so scared that we couldn't sleep at all and hide in the twins' room." Chiffon explained.
"Whoa, that sounds spooky." Sunset surprised.
"I don't think we'll be able to make any sweets today with how stress we are, we'll have to close the café for perhaps a couple of days." Chiffon decided.
"But that would mean nobody will get any sweets!" Pinkie worried.
"I'm sorry, but that ghost or whatever it was… I'm afraid that how it's going to be for now." Chiffon said.
"We understand, you and your husband get some rest to gather your thoughts. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help." Jessica offered.
"Oh, thank you, Jessica. You're such a good friend." Chiffon smiled.
"I always do." Jessica smiled at her old friends.
"Come on, we're head to the Hopping Scarlet for the time being." Jessica suggested.
"I wanted to share some new cupcake and sweet recipes to the Cakes." Pinkie said looking sad and pulls out a tissue paper from her breasts and blows in it.
"Don't worry, we can still eat the sweets you have on now." Flash assured.
(Hopping Scarlet)
Once they get to the office, Jessica asked Sunset to text the other Rainbooms to come into the office now for the Equestria Detectives so she can inform them of what is going on with the Cakes.
"A ghost caused the Cakes to close the café because they were scared?" Rarity asked.
"Yes, it does seem like something would cause trouble for the Cakes with not being able to see what were smacking them last night." Jessica nodded.
"Is it really a ghost though?" Fluttershy asked.
"That's a good question." Jessica wondered about that as well.
Suddenly the phone rings on Jessica's desk.
"I got it!" Pinkie shouted.
"No, I got it!" Rainbow Dash shouted.
Both girls jump toward the desk though Jessica decided to play along for a bit by grabbing both their hands not only twirling them around and spin them to crash onto the wall before she took the phone.
"Hello, Magic-Commissioner?" Jessica answered the call.
"Yes, is that so? Hmm, actually we had come across something similar happened to a friend of mine at her café." Jessica mentioned.
"Alright, we'll get right on that now." Jessica nodded before hanging up the phone.
"What's our net case?" Fluttershy asked.
"It would appear something strange is going on around town. People were enjoying themselves just minding their own business, until suddenly they felt something smacking them though nothing was there at all." Jessica explained.
"Hey, that happened with the Cakes." Sunset realized.
"The Magic-Commissioner also mentioned something else, the people who were the victims of the smacking were also experiencing their bodies suddenly moving around without any control of themselves." Jessica added.
"So, they were being controlled against their own. Not cool, dude." Rainbow Dash said mad.
"Yes, but it's not the mind control thing since the people were fully aware of what was happening to their bodies almost like something was grabbing them and move them like puppets." Jessica said.
"So, it's some sort of puppet master we need to look out for." Applejack said looking a bit worry.
"Where do we start looking for this ghost or puppet master?" Spike asked.
"Well, I have noticed some tweets that it a similar incident just happened at the Canterlot Mall in the electric store where I work." Twilight informed as she looked at her smartphone.
"Then we better get there on the double." Jessica said.
Just as everyone was leaving the office heading for the cars, Spike notice something on the floor as this got him curious and jumps out of the backpack looking at the object.
"Hey Jessica, what is this?" Spike asked.
"Oh, that's a flashlight-sunglasses, I didn't notice it was on the floor until now." Jessica answered as she picks up the sunglasses.
"It's a little gadget a friend made for me to help see better in the dark while looking good in style." Jessica explained as she puts on the sunglasses with a grin.
"And how exactly would it do that?" Twilight asked, only getting a sudden flash in her eyes.,
"Like that." Jessica said showing there is a small, but bright flashlight built into the shades.
"Cool!" Spike commented.
"Okay, now let's go to the mall." Jessica said and everyone makes their way to the car driving to the mall.
"(Could it really be a ghost or perhaps it could be a puppet master, but there might be something else going on.)" Jessica thought with a serious look.
(Canterlot Mall)
The mall is full of people as expected with the mall just opened a few minutes ago, the scene shows the people's shadows are walking about doing what the people themselves are doing as well, but something strange is happening within the shadow.
A pair of eyes appeared within the group of shadows with the eyes are expressing seems to be chuckling with a sinister feeling within it and the eyes move to the left.
KO a new chapter is done and hope you all enjoy it!
It looks like this new case is going to be a bit more strange than what the Equestria Detectives have seen so far as they may stumble upon something that lurks in the shadows, possibility more than just the saying.
