Later in the day, Blitzø was sitting in the kitchen with Loona and Octavia. His eyebrow twitched as the girls were continuously glancing his way. He slammed his hand on the table standing on his chair, "I'm fine girls! For fucks sake! Stop looking at me like I haven't been thrown into situations that are just as shitty as what happened!"
Octavia watched the outburst, looking down at her lunch. When she and Loona had burst into the room, they didn't expect to see their fathers in that bad of a position. To say, after the events of that morning, that they were terrified was an understatement.
Loona looked up angrily at Blitzø. She didn't understand how her adoptive father didn't understand their concern. She stood up on her chair, mimicking Blitzø's stance.
"You are so fucking thickheaded that you don't see how that could've turned out so much worse! If Via and I hadn't been paying attention, you or Stolas could've died! We would have been without either one of our dads!"
"I was handling it Loona! We would've been fine! You're so fucking overprotective!"
Loona snarled, motioning to Blitzø's figure, "Look at you! You couldn't have handled it unless you weren't pregnant! But here's a fucking reality check Blitzø! You're pregnant! You can't just be throwing yourself into situations thinking 'I can handle it' when you clearly fucking can't!"
Blitzø's mouth snapped shut before he could respond to Loona. He hadn't put two and two together, but she was right. If they hadn't come into the room when they did, Blitzø would've miscarried the twins and Stolas wouldn't be in the palace at all. Possibly being tortured by that bitch Stella.
He sat back down in his chair as Octavia walked over to him, placing a hand on his forearm. He looked up at her, pain in his eyes. He hadn't meant any worry for them, but he always found a way to fuck something up. Now it was his relationship with the girls.
Via looked at Blitzø, "We only care about you and my dad being okay. Loona and I both know that you can take care of yourself and that you just want to protect us, but today was very scary. After everything happened you broke down. It terrified me personally."
"Me too…" Loona said looking at Blitzø. She was prodding her lunch with a fork absentmindedly.
Blitzø hadn't thought of how Striker's sudden attack had affected the girls, let alone how it affected himself. He placed a hand on Octavia's, squeezing it lightly. He couldn't just think of himself anymore. He had a family to worry about now.
Blitzø looked up, hearing Stolas walk into the room rubbing the sleep from his eyes. The prince looked at the scene in front of him tilting his head in wonder.
"Might someone tell me what is going on?" He shifted his gaze from Blitzø, to Via and then finally to Loona. Stolas yawned, rubbing his eyes again all the while trying to pay attention if anyone were to speak.
Octavia walked over to her dad, hugging him tightly, "Nothing dad. I'm just glad you're alright."
Stolas hugged her back and went to go sit next to Blitzø after they let go of each other. He let his robe fall off his shoulder as he laid a hand gently on Blitzø's stomach.
Octavia looked between Stolas and Blitzø as she sat back down. Her and Loona exchanged a glance as Loona cleared her throat.
"We need to talk to you both." Loona said pushing her food away from in front of her.
Blitzø sighed, knowing this wasn't going to be good for his sake. He motioned for Loona to continue to which she obliged.
"Blitzø, you're not allowed to come to the office. I'm going to be taking over your position as the third assassin for the contracts and Via is going to be taking my place as receptionist. I'm not budging on this at all, so whatever complains you have you can shove them back up your ass."
Blitzø scowled, crossing his arms, "You can't just make decisions that affect MY business. I'm not staying put in the fucking palace. I'll lose my fucking mind before the twins are born if I have to do that. So, sorry sweetie, but dad overrules."
Stolas watched the interaction. Himself and the girls had been planning this talk for a while, but with everything that happened he didn't want to overwhelm Blitzø. He rubbed Blitzø's distended middle soothingly, trying to make sure the pregnant imp stood calm.
"Blitzy, I think it's wise if you listen to her."
Blitzø groaned, smacking himself in the forehead as he side eyed Stolas, "Not you too Stols. Come on. I'll be good at the office. Especially after Lucifer said he was okay with us being together."
Stolas nodded, "I understand that it may look that way, but anything can happen. Look at this morning. I walked away for less than a minute and you were already being choked by your neck. You're not as agile as you were before." Stolas knew his partner was careful, but there was no guarantee that someone wouldn't try and come after him again.
Blitzø jumped down off his seat. He wasn't going to stick around to hear this. He could take care of himself. He and Stolas had just agreed the other day that it was fine if he did his paperwork at the office. Did this morning really change everything so fast?
Blitzø began to walk towards the hallway as Stolas grabbed his arm, "Blitzy- "
Blitzø turned around, an accusatory finger pointed at the prince, "Don't. Don't fucking say anything. I'm sick and tired of my ability to take care of myself constantly being questioned. I'm going to fucking get dressed and go to my office in my building." Blitzø pulled his arm away from Stolas, walking away towards the bedroom.
Loona sighed, "Well, that went just as expected."
Octavia nodded, looking up at her father who had a grim look on his face. She knew that there was no getting through to Blitzø, especially when it came to the question of his independence. Her only issue with that was the fact that her new sibling's lives were at stake if he wasn't being careful. Which based on what happened earlier that morning, she might not ever be able to meet her siblings.
Stolas got up from the table looking at the girls, "Let me see if he'll listen to me."
He walked towards the bedroom hearing Blitzø angrily stomping around. He peeked into the room seeing his partner sitting on the floor, attempting to pull up a pair of pants.
"I can fucking take care of myself. The twins don't change anything. They're being too fucking overprotective for no reason. I'm an assassin for fucks sake." Blitzø buttoned his pants and walked over to a drawer, still muttering how everything was fine and that everyone was just overreacting.
Stolas walked into the room just as Blitzø was pulling on a maroon knit sweater. Blitzø saw him, huffing in annoyance, "Let me guess. You're here to make me feel like shit."
Blitzø sat back on the floor, pulling on his boots, "I know that this morning was nothing less of a shitshow. I get that I let him get the jump on me, but I was fine in the end. We were all fine in the end."
"And if we weren't?" Stolas sat on the edge of the bed, watching Blitzø continue to walk around the room gathering supplies to take to the office, "You could've gotten seriously hurt- "
"I get that Stolas! I could've gotten hurt more than I did! The twins could've been miscarried, and you could've been killed! You think that I'm so fucked that I don't see that?! I see it clear as day Stolas!" Blitzø was angrier than ever. He grabbed the grimoire from Stolas' bedside table, opening a portal to the office, "you said that I can go to the office. That's what I'm going to do."
Blitzø stepped through the portal, leaving Stolas to sit with his anxieties. The prince laid back on the bed, covering his eyes with his forearm. He just had to hope nothing happened to Blitzø at the office, but he couldn't help worrying.
Hours had passed after Blitzø had left to the office. Stolas had attended a few meetings, as was his duty, ending up in his study. He hadn't heard from Blitzø since the imp left around noon. He couldn't help but assume the worst had happened. He looked at his phone once again.
No notifications.
Where is he, Stolas thought as he tapped his beak with a pen.
Suddenly, his phone began to ring, and he picked it up quickly, hoping it was Blitzø.
"Goetia- "
"No need for the formalities you disgraceful fuck."
The unmistakable voice of his ex-wife flowing through the receiver. Stolas pinched the skin between his eyes, sighing. He didn't want to deal with this. This was actually the last person he wanted to deal with.
"Stella, I don't have time for your demented insults and abuse. I'm busy."
"Oh really, I know your bitch's dog killed my hired help. Which is sad because I really liked him." Her voice was condescending to say the least as Stolas responded to her.
"Stella, what does this have anything to do with me?" Stolas had fear building in his chest. He heard Stella laugh over the receiver.
"Don't you want to know what I'm going to do to your lover once I'm able to get my hands on him?"
Stolas winced, not liking that Blitzø was being brought up. He gripped the phone hard as he stood up, beginning to pace, "Lucifer would have your head if he knew you were threatening me. He approved of Blitzø already. You have no power over myself or my partner."
Stolas grinned hearing Stella yell, clearly enraged, "I promise you that I won't let this stand!"
The phone call disconnected and Stolas went back to worrying about Blitzø's whereabouts.
Little did he know, Blitzø had snuck off topside to do a short job that he believed he was capable of. He had his disguise activated so he was walking the streets calmly, looking for his target. He sat on a park bench trying to catch his breath. He felt his lungs tighten as he rubbed his stomach that was flat due to the disguise. He felt the hard movements of the twins, trying his hardest to soothe them.
"Maybe this wasn't the best idea." Blitzø looked up and spotted his target, a tall blonde female who was walking into a coffee shop.
He stood up, pain immediately wracking through his body as he collapsed on his hands and knees. He felt eyes on him as he tried to stand again. He was able to stand but was still mostly hunched over the bench he had been sitting on. Blitzø looked down, seeing blood coming out of his pant leg. His eyes widened as he walked off towards somewhere he could open a portal without being obvious. He crumbled once again as he wandered behind some buildings.
Pain. All he could feel was tremendous amounts of pain. He deactivated his disguise, holding his stomach. He was going to be in so much shit with Stolas once the prince found out what he had done. He reached for his phone, pressing the power button.
Dead.
"Fuck!" Blitzø threw the phone across the alleyway as he felt another wave of agony wash over his body. He reached into his pants, touching where the pain was coming from. He pulled his hand out to see his hand covered in blood. Tears began to stream down his face. He was too early to be giving birth, so there was only one other alternative.
He was miscarrying.
Blitzø reached for his bag as more discomfort ran through his body. He fought through it as he grabbed the grimoire and opened a portal into his office. He dragged himself up and through the portal, leaning against the wall of his office. He walked over to the phone on his desk, dialing Stolas' number.
"Goetia- "
"Stolas, I fucked up. I- "Blitzø grit his teeth, his hand flying down underneath his stomach as more pain shot through his body.
"Blitzy?! What's going on?! What happened?!" The line was silent, but Stolas could hear muffled whimpers and hisses of pain he could only assume was coming from Blitzø. He immediately opened a portal into Blitzø's office seeing his partner laying on the floor. He was holding his stomach tightly and all Stolas could smell was blood.
He ran over to Blitzø and picked him up, holding the imp close. He used his magic to see what was going on inside Blitzø's body, seeing that one of the babies had separated from the wall of Blitzø's womb. Thankfully, it was a quick fix that Stolas was able to remedy.
He pulled Blitzø's shirt up to get a full view of his pregnant belly, gently placing a hand on the side of Blitzø's stomach a soft blue glow enveloping his hand. He watched as the baby regained its original position on the wall on Blitzø's womb.
Stolas looked down at Blitzø who was wiping tears from his face as he sat up in Stolas' arms. He didn't want to have to explain what happened, but he knew the first words out of his partner's mouth would be…
"What happened? How could something like this have happened if you were just sitting in the office?" Stolas questioned as Blitzø stepped down and out of his arms.
"I made a mistake…"
"What kind of mistake?" Stolas stood up watching Blitzø as the imp leaned against the wall, covering his face.
"I went topside…"
Stolas froze. He couldn't believe that Blitzø would risk something so delicate just to prove a point. He grabbed Blitzø's arms, holding them down to his partner's sides as he knelt in front of him. His white pupils were wide with fear and rage.
"You're telling me that you went to Earth to prove a FUCKING POINT?!" Stolas yelled in Blitzø's face, pulling away and pacing in anger.
Blitzø hugged his arms, tears falling down his face, "Stols… I'm sorry…"
Stolas turned to look at Blitzø. His anger was controlling his emotions right now, so speaking to Blitzø would ruin whatever their relationship was. He silently opened a portal into their bedroom, picked Blitzø up, and sat him on the bed. Stolas raised a finger as if to speak but closed his mouth again. He pointed to the balcony.
"I'm going to the balcony to contemplate what I'm going to say to you. I can't bare to even look at you right now."
Blitzø watched as Stolas walked out to the balcony, tears starting to form in his eyes. He slid off the bed and walked towards the balcony hearing something shattering.
Stolas had pushed over a potted plant, huffing in his enraged state. He fell to the ground sobbing. Blitzø slowly walked over to him, but before he could get close Stolas looked at him fury still enveloping his features.
"How could you be so fucking careless...? To risk yourself is one thing, but to risk the lives of our children as well…" Stolas put his head in his hands, covering his face.
Blitzø stood in place like a statue. He couldn't defend his actions. Not this time. He let tears stream down his face, "I fucked up Stols… I'm sorry…"
Stolas looked up to see Blitzø's face covered in tears. He couldn't forgive him so easily for this. For almost killing himself and their children. He stood up looking down at Blitzø.
"This morning I almost lost you! With everything that happened I would have thought you wouldn't want to risk putting yourself in that same position again but look at you! It's always whatever you deem necessary to prove how much you don't need anyone! I understand that you had a difficult upbringing, but you shouldn't find it necessary to prove yourself anymore! You have a partner that adores every bit of you, a daughter that cherishes you, and friends that want to see nothing more but for you to be happy! What more do you need to prove Blitzø?!"
Blitzø looked down fidgeting with his sweater. He didn't know what to say. He knew that anything he were to say wouldn't suffice for what he had done. He heard Stolas walking past him but reached up to grab Stolas' hand. Tears spilled from his eyes as he looked up at the prince. Stolas glanced down at him.
"Stolas please! I'm sorry! I didn't mean for any of this to happen! I thought my body could handle it! I thought I was strong enough!" Blitzø fell to his knees, grief washing over him.
Stolas watched Blitzø, his features still hard with anger, "I'm supposed to protect you! I'm supposed to be the strength for us both now that you're vulnerable! But you won't allow me to be that for you! You won't allow ANYONE to get close to you! I've tried so hard to understand you Blitzø! I've let you do whatever you have desired for these past three months! Taking time with our relationship and for what?! For you to sit there and make excuses for your faults!"
Blitzø watched Stolas turn away from him, the prince's hands clenched into fists.
"You are to stay at the palace for the remainder of your pregnancy. I will not have you putting our unborn children into another compromising position after these past three instances," Stolas looked at Blitzø, tears falling from his eyes, "You must decide whether you want to continue this relationship or not. I will not put myself into another loveless situation with my partner only caring for themselves. I love you Blitzø, but that doesn't seem to be enough for you to accept that I am not your past relationships."
Stolas walked inside the palace by himself leaving Blitzø on the balcony to wallow in all the mistakes he has made with the owl prince.
What have I done…?
