"I can't believe it! Three feet of parchment in two days! Three bloody feet!" The loud and clearly stressed voice of one Sirius Black echoed down the hall.

"Would it be at all possible for you to attempt to lower your voice to a dull roar please? I already have a headache, and you aren't helping it." Lupin said sourly, rubbing his temples.

"Sorry Moony. It's just...three feet in just two days. On top of everything else too. And it's on Birg the Boring-"

"It's Birg the Bland, not Boring. Even if he is." Lupin corrected.

"- no less. And I don't care. We're gonna be in the Library all night."

"Maybe we won't." James said softly. Sirius grinned. The look on James' face promised some good fun that probably went against a generous handful of school rules.

"What are you up to now?" Lupin asked. "You've got that look."

"This." Grinning broadly, James held up a heavy book bound in black leather.

"And what, pray tell, is that?" Lupin snatched the book out of James' hands and started to examine it.

"It's the solution to our Binns essay. Why waste all out time searching through a mountain of boring History books written about a bunch of dead dwarves when we can just ask Birg the Bland ourselves?"

"You are not thinking about necromancy!"

"No, of course not. I'm not stupid. It'll just summon a ghost to talk with and then sending it back to…wherever it was before we summoned it when we're finished.

"Him, not it. Are you sure this is legal?"

"Not sure really. I suppose it is, since this wasn't in the Restricted Section."

"Come on Moony! Let's give it a try!" Sirius urged. Lupin proceeded to give his friend a look that would have stopped Mrs. Norris in her tracks. Unfortunately for him, Sirius was immune to it. "He said it was legal!"

"He said it might be legal."

"Since when has the legality of something stopped us?" James pointed out. Lupin sighed.

"Okay. Fine. Let's just try to keep from getting caught this ime. I doubt we'll be able to get away with detention." James and Sirius cheered.

"Don't worry Moony. What could possibly go wrong?"
