Chapter 9
Crash! Ben and Rey's lightsabers smashed together. Rey swung her lightsaber again, knocking Ben's out of his hands.
"No fair!" Shouted Ben as the plastic lightsaber fell out of his grasp and clattered to the ground.
"I win!" said Rey with a smile.
"You cheated!"
"No I didn't, I win! I win! I win!"
"I'm telling!" Ben took off running.
"No!" Screamed Rey running after him. Ben barged into Leia's home office.
"MOM!" Yelled Ben, "She cheated!"
"NO I DIDN'T!" Leia was in the middle of a conference call.
"Would you excuse me for a moment?" Leia muted the call and turned to Ben and Rey.
"I'm in the middle of a very important call, can you go talk to your father."
"Dad's not here," said Ben.
Leia sighed, "Well, where is he?"
"He went to the store," informed Rey. There was the sound of something breaking in the kitchen then Breha crying.
"Don't move," ordered Leia as she rushed out of the room to check on Breha. Ben climbed into Leia's chair and sat down.
"What are you doing?" Ben pressed the unmute button.
"Hi!" He said interrupting their conversation.
"Hello?"
"Who is this?"
"I'm Ben!"
"Where is your mother?"
"She's not here," said Rey, "My name's Rey!"
Just then Leia came back into the room. Ben threw the headset off and took off like a shot, Rey on his tail.
End of flashback.
Rey's fingers flew over the keyboard typing in the coordinates for lightspeed.
"Where is the first aid kit!" Called Breha.
"What?"
"I said, where is the first aid kit?"
"Where is the what?"
"WHERE IS THE... never mind I found it."
"What?"
"NEVER MIND!"
Breha opened the first aid kit to find the only things inside were a half empty box of bandaids, cotton balls and some bandages. Breha poured some water over a cotton ball and carefully cleaned the wound on Finn's forehead. She had dealt with her fair share of injuries on Jakku, most where Rey's.
Flashback
Breha ripped open her bag and carelessly dumped the contents onto the sand. Rey was lying beside her there was a nasty looking gash on her right leg. Breha had seen her fall; she was trying to remove an especially stubborn part. When she lost her balance and fell, scraping her leg on a jagged piece of metal on the way down. Breha's eyes scanned over the contents of her bag until she found bandages. She poured some of her water from her canteen onto a cloth. Breha used the damp cloth to clean Rey's wound. Then she put a bandage around the wound on Rey's leg. Rey winced as she sat up.
"Are you alright?" Asked Breha putting her stuff back into her bag.
"I'm fine," grumbled Rey, "Help me up." Rey stuck her hand out Breha grabbed it and pulled her up.
End of flashback
Breha gently wrapped a bandage around Finn's head. She put everything else back in the first aid kit. Then she went to the cockpit and took a seat behind Chewie. Something about this felt familiar, flying in the Falcon with Han, Rey and Chewie; It felt like coming home. Han landed the Falcon at the base. Chewie pickled up Finn and hurried down the ramp of the Falcon Rey and Breha ran after them.
"We need a medic!" Shouted Rey disappearing into the crowd. Somewhere in the crowd Leia appeared. She approached him until they were standing mere inches from each other.
"Leia… Ben-"
"I know, I felt it through the force. Our son is truly gone." Han took Leia into his arms and kissed her cheek.
"You scared me for a second," murmured Leia.
"I'm here now and so are our daughters."
"How are we going to tell them?"
"We can think about that tomorrow, today let's celebrate our victory."
Leia smiled, "Ok."
