10,000 Years ago (Earth Standard)

Two people a man and a woman were talking, the man in a bed that would slide into a slot in the wall and the woman next to him. The man was wearing a white long sleeve shirt and tan pants. He was about two and a half meters tall and had dark brown skin. He also had long black hair that reached just past his shoulders. His eyes were an ocean blue that sparkled in the lighting of the room.

The woman on the other hand wore a tan dress and a white coat. She was of the same complexion and hair color but hers was pinned up in a tight bun. She had a datapad under her arm and looked both sad and frustrated.

"You'll be under suspended animation. We use it on the intergalactic starships. Think of it like taking a long nap." Aria stated. Aria was one of the last Alterans in Atlantis, in charge of getting the defense battalion in their pods.

"As You have said repeatedly. That does not change the fact that these pods haven't ever been in constant use for more than a decade at a time." Lochias Dominus argued.

"Domi, you know I would never put our people in danger. The pods are designed to be able to run longer than the war has been going on a hundred times over." Aria said with exasperation in her voice. "Paired with the sensors, as long as the Potentia has the power you will wake up if the Wraith ever set foot in the city. Now lay down."

"Aria I need you to promise me that my men will be safe. You will be going back to Terra, but I am responsible for all twenty-five of them once you are gone." Dominus requested.

Aria put her hand on Dominus's shoulder and lightly pressed him down into the pod. "I promise brother. You and your men will still be asleep long after I pass on to the next adventure."

Dominus lied back and said "You know I trust you with my life. Now I trust you with theirs." Dominus closed his eyes and felt the slight hum as his stasis pod activated.

A single tear slid down Aria's face. For she knew that she may never see her brother again. A hiss was heard in the room as Dominus's pod was retracted into the wall, the last of the twenty-six in use here. Aria turned and left the room looking down the door as she exited. The lights dimmed, but one could still see the hexagonal-shaped ends of the pods on the wall, and the screens that monitored the simulations that the soldiers were experiencing were barely producing any light. The Last Battalion would sleep for longer than anyone ever thought.

"McKay!" Dr. Elizabeth Weir shouted over her headset, her hands on her head.

"Ok, snap are you people happy now?" Dr. Rodney McKay yelled back. He was attempting to plug in a ZPM to the main power station, the crystalline structure not sliding in place.

"Rodney!" Dr. Weir yelled back.

Dr. McKay lightly slapped the top of the ZPM and it descended into place. "Do it now."

As Dr. Zelenka raised the shield, another system that had been barely running came back into order. "Shield is in place, but we have a power surge in an unexplored part of the city." Dr. Radek Zelenka informed Dr. Weir.

"Is it not part of the shield subroutine?" Dr. Weir questioned.

"No. It started after the darts were all impacted. I don't know what it is, but it's using quite a bit of power." Radek responded.

Meanwhile

An alarm was blaring as Dominus was ejected from the wall in his pod. He attempted to get to his feet but fell and hit the ground, his limbs both stiff and numb from disuse. Dominus pushed his face off the floor and rolled onto his back. "Currere diagnostica." Dominus groaned out. Several screens came on in the room showing the status of the other pods and sensors in the city. Dominus got to his feet and stumbled over to the screens. The first screen showing the status of the pods had error messages over each pod, except for Dominus's former location. He pressed several keys on the console but nothing changed.

Dominus swore under his breath then looked to the city sensors. What he saw made no sense. He tapped a key and the screen refreshed to show him several Alteran life signs and well even more variant signs. But what took precedence was the fact that there were Wraith in Atlantis.

Dominus pressed two more keys and a drawer and a cabinet opened. Dominus went to the drawer and grabbed a cylindrical device with some bluish liquid. He brought it up to his arm and jabbed one end into his bicep.

As the liquid emptied, Dominus took a deep breath then set down the empty device on the console then went over to the wall, walked significantly better, and took out a set of Alteran armor as well as several weapons and power crystals. Dominus slid the crystals in place in the laser projectile weapons, then slotted the smaller two into slots on the armor by the waist. He then donned the armor and grabbed a bladed weapon sliding it into a slot on his back. The last weapon he grabbed was a two-handed laser projectile gun.

The armor looks like a long tan-colored duster, a matching vest, and a helm. Dominus pressed a button on the side of his helm and was flooded with sensor data. Once he got his barring once more, he took off pausing to unseal the door then running at incredible speeds. Dominus had an ethereal glow to his eyes as he ran. He was approaching a group of variants led by an Alteran. If one could see through Dominus's eyes they would assume that they were looking through the walls, but it was Dominus's brain and several implants displaying the sensor input in a tactically usable format.

He saw a group of four men in black and gray clothes, holding black and gray weapons. Dominus did not recognize the uniforms or the weapons, but he did notice that the Alteran was holding a Lantean era portable detector.

Dominus slowed and called out "Hinc arnica. Quis es?" and the group paused. The leader called out something in an unknown language and made several hand gestures. Dominus jumped and grabbed onto a beam by the ceiling. Pulling himself up he had time to prepare his weapon to stun the four men creeping up to the last corner between them. As one of them stuck their head around the corner along with his weapon. Dominus fired a single blast, incapacitating him.

The other three men paused and took ready positions. Dominus jumped to the next beam and mentally froze the portable detector so it would not show his movements. As he got closer to the corner he stopped and planned how he would take the men down.

With a plan in mind, he leaped forward towards the wall opposite of the men, firing at one as he went. Dominus's feet impacted the wall and he pushed off grabbing the other two men and slamming their heads into the walls then the floor. Dominus then shot both of the last two men making sure that they would stay down for now.

He then took off running again this time towards the Wraith signatures. Dominus reset the weapon to lethal and approached them silently.

Right before he was in view, he engaged a personal cloaking device and faded from the visible spectrum. The group of five Wraith were hiding in a darkened area but it didn't hinder Dominus in the slightest. Three of them were down with a red flash before the other two even knew something was wrong. The last two looked around franticly before being felled themselves.

Dominus quickly scanned through the rest of the sensor data and saw that there were no more Wraith signs in the city. He then decided to figure out what was happening by tapping into the data logs of the city. He learned that the people here were mostly from Terra and primarily spoke a language called English. He also learned that the city was on the surface and that there had been no Potentia cells for a bit as these humans explored and studied the city and the greater galaxy. There was one cell now powering the city, and they had just defended against a Wraith attack. What was worrying was that he was not woken earlier when the Wraith got into Atlantis.

Dominus pressed his weapon to his back and got a magnetic lock holding it in place. He then set off to the Porta Chamber, or as the humans called it: Gate Room.

A/N: This has been rolling around in my head for a bit. let me know if you like the concept.
