Silver and Blaze were just flying through a weird wormhole nearly white as snow. But in the midst of transporting through time, Silver felt his hand starting to burn. The sudden shock made him grunt and look down to see the emerald sparking and losing its color.
"Silver, what's wrong?"

"It's the emerald! I don't-"

A powerful shockwave erupted and a blinding white light sent the two out of the portal on the other side. The only problem was that they didn't feel the ground. They opened their eyes and faced the horrific scene below them. They were in freefall above a desert colony, just seconds before the ground. They both screamed as it sunk into their thoughts. Silver attempted to put up a shield with his powers but was only partially successful as they hit the sandy ground hard with a partial barrier. They laid flat on the ground after the impact, barely moving. Silver tries to raise his head and sees Blaze unconscious next to him.

"B-Blaze…" he groaned.

A strong force was slowly pulling him into unconsciousness but he tried to fight it. With his eyes threatening to close, he was able to see a figure in the background running towards them.

"Silver?!" A voice called out before Silver fell unconscious.

Silver slowly opened his eyes and saw himself inside a dark purple void with nothing in sight. He began floating forward without his powers and started searching for anything.

"Hello? Anyone there? Where am I?" His voice echoed.

He stopped his search once he bumped into a glass wall. It had a shade of purple and was able to see his reflection clearer than any other mirror he has seen before. He was lost in confusion but another figure behind him appeared in the reflection.

"Tikal?" He turned to face the ancient echidna.

"Hello, Silver." She spoke.

"What's going on? Where am I?"

"I linked your mind into the chaos emerald so I can speak with you. When I made my first attempt, it did not go so well." She looked away.

"You did that? You caused us to fall out of the wormhole!"

"I know and I'm sorry! I don't understand it either. But when I tried to make contact, I must have caused some kind of reaction and halted your travel. I am truly sorry, but why were you using the Chaos Emerald to travel through time?" Tikal demanded.

"For Sonic…" Silver whispered.

"What?"

"For Sonic." He repeated. "I wanted to know about Sonic's past because there were holes in his story that I thought were crucial to defeat Eggman since he started attacking using that against him." Silver pleaded.

"I know you had good intentions, but you cannot interfere with the timeline for your own personal gain! I understand your previous travels were to protect the timeline, but this does not!" Tikal sighed.

"I'm sorry, Tikal. Punish me how you wish, but I need to be out there and help Blaze and get back home. The last I saw was her unconsciousness next to me and someone running towards me! Who knows what is going to happen to her- Us!" Silver asserted.

"I understand, please forgive me for what I did. Good Luck getting home, Silver."

Tikal raised her hands to her chest and whispered some kind of chant and another blinding light materialized, causing Silver to shield his eyes. Then, everything went dark. He squinted his eyes open slowly and started to regain his senses. The first thing he felt was a strong headache. That overpowered everything for only a moment as he started to feel his sore muscles when he tried to get up, but something pushed him back down.

"Don't move, You need rest." A voice soothed.

Silver still couldn't see clearly, but once he focused his eyesight, he started to notice a very familiar purple hedgehog come into view.

"A-Aleena?" He muttered.

"Lie still, you have a pretty bad head injury." Aleena replied.

This time, Aleena had a new cloak on her. It was more of like a very puffy robe with a hood. Instead of the color red, the main color of the cloak was cyan with a golden circle pin holding a purple hood together.

"How long was I out for?" Silver's eyelids were threatening to close again.

"About an hour now."

"An… hour? ...W-where are we? What's going on?" Silver panicked.

"Calm down, Silver. Everything is alright."

Silver wanted to press further, but her words soothed him so much that he just stuttered his words and a strong sense of security overwhelmed him. He stopped trying to talk and his eyes saw interest in everything in the room but Aleena. They were in a small room with a couple windows and little decoration with a few beds. Once he spots Blaze next to him a few feet away still unconscious.

"Blaze?"

Aleena looked over and said,

"She is fine. She only had a few cuts and bruises from the fall." She looked back at Silver with a question,

"Silver, what are you doing back in the past?"

"The past? How long have we been gone?" Silver wondered.

"Maybe a year?" She supposed.

"A year?! How did-" Silver stopped and sat up to start padding himself down, looking for a certain jewel.

"The emerald! Where is it, where is it!" Silver shouted.

"I have it, don't worry."

Aleena pulled out the purple emerald which had dulled quite a bit in color. She handed the emerald to Silver as he examined it very carefully.

"It's drained… It will take a bit to recharge. Whatever Tikal did, must've taken a lot of energy."
"You know the spirit guardian?"

"Well, probably not as much as you know… Ugh, this headache is the worst. I can barely think. Where's Sonic and the others?"

Aleena gave a look of pity before she untied the bloody bandage on his head and started to replace it.

"They are trying to find me, but they are luring themselves to a trap I set up for Robotnik…"

Silver started to feel really shy, like he got into a fight in school, got a black eye, and he got caught trying to hide it from his mother. Aleena finished wrapping on a new roll of bandages and then asked a question that took Silver off guard.

"Why are you acting like that?"

"Huh? L-Like what?" Silver stuttered.

"You're acting really shy when I tend to your wounds. It reminds me of how I acted when my mother tended to my injuries when I was young. Don't you feel the same when yours does?"

"I-I…"

Silver paused as that question sunk deep into his mind. Tears started to form which took Aleena off guard this time, they streamed down his face slowly as he turned away and whispered…

"I-I n-never really got the c-chance to…"

Aleena's eyes widened in shock. She immediately assumes the worst must've happened if he reacted like this.

"I'm sorry if I-"

"No, it's fine…" He interrupted. "You didn't know."

Aleena couldn't say anything after that and looked uncomfortable for bringing up such a sensitive topic for Silver.

"I'll leave you be, for now." She announced as she got up and walked away towards the door. She halted her leave after she grabbed the doorknob when Silver stopped her.

"Wait… Can you stay? Please?"

She let go of the door and turned around and paused before walking back towards him. She pulled out a chair next to them and sat down.

"If you wish."

There was only silence for a minute or two before Silver voiced out,

"I… Never really knew my mother or father…"

Aleena could only sit and stare in shock and pity for the silver hedgehog as he continued.

"There is a reason I time travel a lot. You see… Where I come from- When I come from, my world is destroyed. No civilization survived whatever disaster occurred. As far as I can remember, I was alone since birth. Left to fend for myself and never had anyone to help me when I was young. So many thugs and criminals with no society left, I don't even know how I survived that horror."

Silver paused as he started to choke up and sob. He took in a deep breath and continued.

"I didn't even know what my parents looked like. Did they look like me? Was my mother kind? Was my father brave? Did they even survive? I guess I'll never-"

Silver was cut off by a motherly embrace from Aleena who had heard enough. The feeling of security returned full strength and Silver slowly returned the gesture and his tears flowed faster and faster.

"It's alright, Silver. Let it all out." She soothed in an attempt to relieve him.

Silver said nothing and continued to cry and cry a river of tears before he started to calm down. He pulled himself away and started to explain once more.

"I don't know why or how but I keep getting this feeling like I know that timeline needs to be changed. Like it was never meant to exist. When I travel back into the past, I end up at a point where I feel is the most crucial point in time of the future I need to prevent. Then, I prevent it with a little help."

Aleena was puzzled on how Silver knows when the timeline is altered from the original course of time, but felt nothing but sympathy from his story.

"Were you able to save the future and finally meet your parents?" Aleena slightly smiled.

"No… no… Every time I stop whatever caused the future to change, A new conflict takes its place."

Aleena's smile fell. Having your parents taken away over and over again before you even know them must be the worst thing on Mobius.

"I am so sorry, Silver. I cannot even begin to imagine how the pain must feel. The only thing remotely close to that is being separate from my children."

Silver looked down at the stone floor in sadness.

"My friends are the only family I have. Blaze has been with me the longest and I consider her a very close friend. M-maybe even more-?" Silver caught himself as Aleena chuckled, on the verge of light laughter.

"D-Don't tell her I said that, please!" He pleaded.

"I don't have to…" she pointed behind him and Silver's face went whiter than his fur as he turned his head. Blaze was sitting up from her bed, staring at Silver with a blank expression. Silver turned away, lowered his head, and covered his face with his hands. He felt like he wanted to disappear from this situation entirely. What was she thinking of him now? He didn't mean to express that in front of anyone, let alone Blaze. Everything was crashing in his mind, but when he felt a hand on his shoulder and it was not Aleena's, time almost froze in place. He looked over and saw Blaze for a split second before she nearly copied Aleena's embrace to which Silver accepted.

"How much did you hear?" He whispered.

"Enough." Blaze whispered back. "You've never been this open about your past, Silver. What changed?"

Silver looked up and stared as he stated,

"I don't really know, It just felt safe explaining it to Aleena…"

"Speaking of explaining, can you explain how we still ended up in the past?" Blaze asked.

"Tikal is the reason. She tried to call us through the emerald but something went wrong while we were in the wormhole."

"Look!" Aleena pointed at the now glowing emerald, glowing even more than before.

"It must be back to full strength, we can go back now!" Silver announced.

"That's wonderful news!" Aleena cheered.

Their small festivities were cut short when a loud combustion engine roared nearby before a loud screech of tires was heard. Aleena immediately jumped up and darted for the door.

"Aleena?" Blaze requested.

She slammed open the door which led to the outside, Silver and Blaze walked up to the door and left the room. They were outside in an alley, looking for the queen. They see her near the end of the alley with her hand on the wall looking at something. Once they walked up to her, they saw 3 hedgehogs leaving the building next door into their van. One green, pink, and blue. They looked the same as when they saw them a few minutes ago, but it was actually a year later. They looked from the hedgehogs to the queen before she spoke to her children without them hearing her as they drive off,

"Freedom is a long road. Full of unexpected twists and turns, but we must keep going. Don't lose hope, someday we'll be reunited…"

Nothing was said after that sentiment in respect for Aleena and her children. They couldn't help but notice a tear starting to fall down her cheek as the van disappeared in the horizon.

"You two should be on your way." Aleena said coldly.

"You wish to be with them, dearly…" Blaze started.

"You have no idea… A part of me deep inside wants to reach out and hug them so close, but… it's too early…" Aleena sobbed.

"If there's anything we can do-" Silver started.

"No. The longer you remain in this time, the further risk of damage to the timeline. You must go."

There was a momentary pause before Silver sighed and used the emerald once more to open a time portal. Blaze walked towards it, but stopped once she saw Silver hesitating to move.

"Silver?"

He looked from the emerald, to Blaze, to the portal, to Aleena, and back at the emerald. He recalled all the events that transpired from now, all the way from when it started. He remembered the event in the hospital where Sonic was taken over.

"Uh, Sonic? Your eyes…" Past Silver pointed out.

"Not now, Silver. But it's nice to see you again after so long…" Sonic replied.

It all started to make sense. It was so out of the blue, he nearly forgot all about it. If she knew him before he met her… He shut his eyes and turned around and placed a hand on Aleena's shoulder which startled her as she thought they left by now. She turned to face Silver with a confused expression before he spoke one last time.

"Four years from now, meet me in the forest near the village. You'll know where."

Aleena just gave more confusion but gave a slight nod. Silver turned around and walked back over to Blaze and motioned her to enter the portal. She took a quick glance at Aleena before giving another nod and jumping in. Silver turned back and gave a goodbye wave to the queen which she returned with a smile. He jumped into the portal and appeared next to Blaze in the wormhole.

"I hope you know what you are doing, Silver."

"I do too…" He replied.

A new portal opened in the forest and the two mobians jumped out and took another survey of the area. They were back at the same point they left.

"What now?" Blaze inquired.

"Just wait a minute. If this worked, then she should be here any second now."

"But isn't she captured? How will she-"

Blaze was interrupted by a speedy blue streak flying past them nearly at the speed of a jet. Once the wind died down they looked for the cause before another streak flew by and stopped in front of them. A blue hedgehog stood before them with his head down and arms crossed, not moving an inch or making a sound.

"Sonic? What are you doing here?" Blaze started

"That's not Sonic." Silver answered.

Blaze only had confusion before she saw Sonic giving a smirk and chuckled. He lifted his head and opened his eyes to reveal purple irises which startled her. He then spoke, but it was not Sonic's voice.

"Have four years passed already? I know that you weren't wearing that bandage for that long."

"Aleena?!" Blaze screamed.

"Long story, but I can take over Sonic's mind. I can only take control for a short period of time."

"And that's when you greeted me back at the hospital, you thought I already made the jump."

"Indeed. I thought it was time, but I saw you were not wearing the bandage I gave you. Then, I remembered the last thing you said to me before you left. I don't have much time, so I will say this before he wakes back up. Head to Angel Island, you must reach Tikal to retrieve my children's medallions. Your friend, Tails, went there to attempt to fix them and dropped them off. Please get them for me and give it to them. Oh! If Tikal gives you a hard time, tell her to blame me, not you."

"Sure thing, you can count on us." Silver beamed.

"Good luck out there. Be prepared for the final fight, it may be your worst fight yet." Aleena warned.

"What do you mean by that?" Blaze concerned.

Before that question could be answered, Sonic's eyes started to fade in different colors and he showed signs of dizziness before he got his bearings. He shook his head one final time and revealed his green eyes to the world.

"Silver? Blaze? What are you two… Wait, how did I get out here? Last thing I remembered was me leaving the house and…"

He stopped once he saw Silver's blank expression and Blaze's dumbfounded face.

"Uh… Was I acting like a different person just now?"

They both nodded. Sonic pinched the bridge of his nose and sighs.

"Mom, you really need to give me a warning before you twist my head around." He whispered to himself.

"Sonic, we need to head to Angel Island." Silver stated.

"Angel Island? Why would you want to go there?" Sonic questioned.

"We need to speak to Tikal." Blaze answered.

Sonic thought for a moment, but gave in and said,

"Fine, But you don't need me there. I can send you to the island."

He raised his hand with his aura formed around it. And with a 'Chaos CONTROL!' He sent them away to the Island.

Why do they need to talk to Tikal? Why were they this far out in the forest to begin with? Why did mom want to be here with them as well? All those thoughts hit him like an ocean wave, but he needed to get his head on straight. He needed a plan of attack against Eggman for what he did.

Meanwhile on the Island, Knuckles was laying beside the Master Emerald almost snoozing off. That is until the loud sound of Chaos Control wakes him up to see a white hedgehog and a purple cat.

"Silver? Blaze? What are you two doing here?"

Before either could respond however, the Master Emerald glowed brightly with a powerful humming sound that echoed around the shrine. The ancient echidna took form once more to answer for them with her eyes showing anger, trained on Silver alone. He looked away in shame as she walked up to him.

"What were you thinking, you two? Interfering with the timeline is big enough, but with Sonic's past? You know better than that!"

"But-" Silver tried to interject.

"No buts! You two are to blame for this!"

"I-"

"Hand over the emerald before any more harm could-!"

"Enough!"

Blaze screamed as she jumped in between Silver and Tikal. After the shock from the interruption, Tikal saw the purple feline in front of her giving a death glare with fire in her eyes. She stepped back a bit which even startled Knuckles who was still standing next to them.

"If you have anyone to blame, blame Aleena for this! She was the one who probably encouraged the time jump in the first place!" Blaze jumped to Silver's defense.

Tikal just stood there in shock. She was even more startled when Knuckles spoke, like she wasn't even aware he was there.

"Time jump? Emerald? Wait a minute, You've met Queen Aleena?" he spoke.

"Yes, we traveled into the past and accidently bumped into her during her rendezvous with another official. As time passed by with all that has occurred, I believe we were meant to go back as soon as she made the first move before we made the jump."

Tikal only stood there thinking with this new information. From past experiences and Chaos' trust in the queen of Mobius, her mind went into… Well, chaos. If the queen really did start the chain of events then, they were destined to jump through time. She lowered her head with her eyes shut and began to fade away. Everyone was dumbstruck for a moment with Blaze attempting to reach out to her, but it was futile. She faded back into the Master Emerald and a beam of green light moved towards her hand. Once the light dimmed, silhouettes of what looked like 2 medals shining in the light of the sun.

"Please return the medallions to their wielders, they will need them for the final battle." Tikal's voice echoed.

Blaze and Silver just stared at the medallions for a couple seconds more then, looked up to see the guardian echidna still in awe over the whole situation.

"What exactly did you guys do?"

"We-"

"We'll explain later," Silver answered for her and pulled out his emerald, "We need to get to Tails, Sonia and Manic might still be with him. Are you coming with us?"

"I don't think I can," He sighed as he looked back at the Master Emerald, "You go on ahead before you know who changes her mind."

Silver gave a nod and turned to face Blaze, holding one hand with hers and the other on the emerald. He focused his energy and thought of where he wanted to go.

'To Tails…' He thought.

"Chaos… CONTROL!" He shouted.

They disappeared in a flash of purple, leaving the echidna to rest and maybe, just maybe, he can talk to Tikal about what on Mobius happened.

It was cold and dark, no windows or walls, nothing but the emptiness of the room. The only object visible was some kind of table. On that table was a weak, tired, purple hedgehog. She tried to wake up from whatever caused her to pass out. Once her vision became clear, a bright spotlight activated and blinded her. She tried to shield the light with her hands, but found them tied down to the table which now resembled more of an examination table.

"Queen Aleena…" A cold low voice spoke in the background…

"Robotnik…" Aleena grunted.

"The name's Dr. Eggman, now." Eggman stepped into the light and revealed how much he did change from the dictator they knew years ago.

"But tell me, did you really expect me to forget you or your blasted children?"

"Don't you dare speak of my children like that! I expected Sonic to stop your tyranny and end you once and for all!" She spat.

"Oh, my queen. How disrespectful! Do you really want to bad mouth the man who single handedly took over your empire, Twice?" Eggman spoke as he walked around the table.

"We defeated you once, we will again!" Aleena said with pride.

"Oh, I don't think so. Not when I have captured the resistance's queen." He gloated. "You know, ever since I left, I seemed to have given up a few old tricks I used to do."

He walked over to a smaller table with what looked like tools, all lined up next to each other. He picked one up and examined it, the tool in question looked almost like a scalpel if it didn't reflect the light. He set down the tool and examined another.

"I think it's time I bring back one special trick, I'm feeling nostalgic."

He gave out a loud horrifying laugh that shook Aleena to her core. Her face paled even more when he pulled out a larger tool that sounded much like… like….

A Drill…

Silver and Blaze reappeared in the home of Sonic and Tails. They materialized inside the home at the front door and saw no one around. They decided to venture further into the home in search of the small fox or pink and green hedgehog. They halted so fast that they nearly tripped when the sound of sobbing could be heard in the empty halls. Silver paused but started running towards the source with Blaze not far behind. They ran upstairs and stopped at the guest bedroom door which was slightly open.

"Oh my chaos…" Silver gasped.

Peeking through, they see Sonia sitting on the bed bawling her eyes out. Sonic and Manic were sitting next to her, giving her comfort as best as they could. Tails was nowhere in sight, maybe he was away or in the workshop.

"He has her… She's captured and there is nothing we can do about it!" She sobbed.

"Sis, you know that's not true. I've beaten Egghead all the time! I can-"

"Shut it, Sonic! I don't know how you survived fighting that… that MONSTER all alone after all this time. If we couldn't fight him and if mom couldn't fight him then, everything is done for!" Sonia sobbed even more uncontrollably.

"Aww, come on, Sonia. We can do this! We just need a plan, like how we always did!" Manic spoke, trying to stay on the optimistic side.

"Oh? And how are we going to do that without our-"

The sound of 2 crystal-like objects clashed with each other on the floor in front of them. They stop their argument and stare at the medallions before looking up at the door to see who tossed them.

"Now you do." Blaze smirked.

Sonia, who was still tearing up, slowly got off the bed and dropped to her knees to pick up her medallion. It was good as new! It was no longer dull and shined brightly in the light once more. Once both her hands held the object, a bright pink sheen appeared for a moment almost like it recognized its owner. The same happened to Manic's, but with a green sheen. He was grinning ear to ear after getting his medallion back and immediately put it on.

"Come on, Sonia. Put on your medallion, we've got a mother to save!" He cheered.

Sonic followed suit and lent out his hand to his shocked sister.

"Come on, sis. Have I ever let you down?"

She raised her brow and gave him a smirk at the question.

"Don't answer that." He chuckled.

Sonia took his hand and he helped her up before they almost got tackled by Manic in a group hug. They were all laughing and chuckling for what seemed like forever. Sonic calmed down and finally cheered,

"Alright! Hang on, Mom! We'll find you ye-"

Time stopped when Sonic didn't finish his sentence and everyone froze to look at him. His eyes went wide as saucers, his pupils shrank, and started to shake uncontrollably.

"Sonic?" Manic hesitantly asked.

Sonic collapsed on the floor, clutching his head, and swaying side to side almost like he was trying to shake the pain away. He gave out grunts and groans from pain that came out of nowhere. It was the worst pain he has ever felt. His aura is flaring worse than ever. His siblings attempted to find out what's wrong, but were only met with a scream. A scream with a mixture of both Sonic's voice and Aleena's. A scream so loud and painful it could almost shatter the glass windows nearby. It lasted for nearly several seconds before it finally died out. Once it did, he collapsed entirely and fell hard onto the floor. He only had a few moments of blurred vision and the muffled cries of his siblings, but the blue blur couldn't give a response as everything faded to black into the deep void of unconsciousness.
