T — Tired

Heavy eyes watched the clouded sky, her body leaning against the railings of the steps. It was late; later than she cared to admit. She'd hate herself for it in the morning, but right now, she had to stay awake.

He'd be back soon. He promised. 4 p.m. his time he'd get away. Being eleven hours ahead hadn't seemed like a bad idea when she decided to wait. Until she did the maths.

Glancing at the vault, she hoped the door would pull open, revealing the man home safe after returning the Golden Tiger Claws.

Brushing her fingers across her eyes, she fought back the yawn building at the back of her throat.

A faint sound of a door opening caught her attention. Turning back to the vault, she saw him. Carefully closing the door behind him, an attempt to not disturb anybody.

Their bodies collided, her arms around his neck as his arms wrapped around her torso, holding her close. His face rested in her hair, smiling against her neck.

"Minha linda mulher," he whispered, tightening his hold, "I've missed you,"

"I missed you too," she breathed, leaning into his hold.

Pulling back, his hand cupped her face, thumb gently tracing her cheek. "Why are you still up?"

"Surprise?"

Her tired smile was all he needed. Lifting her face to his, their lips met for a gentle kiss.

Sleep be damned, moments like these were worth it. Always.
