Hello and welcome to another installment of RWBY Across the Multiverse. This past month, we lost stars Jason David Frank and Kevin Conroy. When I heard the news, I was devastated. And I'm sure many of you agree with me. So, I decided it was time to get back to this fic. This chapter and the next are dedicated to Jason. Once a ranger, always a ranger. Next universe we'll be crossing into will be a Batman universe in honor of Kevin Conroy.

Now, let's get to it.
[Scene; Phados]
While Salem's Nevermores hunt for their prey, the rangers have finally landed on Phaedos. The teens take a look around and see that they've landed near a cliffside near the ocean.
"Blimey, look at this place." Neo says.
"Guys, over here!" Yang exclaims. "Quick!"
The rest of the teens rush to Yang and upon reaching her location, become shocked and alarmed by what they see. The skeleton of a large two-legged creature.
Upon seeing the creature, the audience displays various levels of shock.
"What the hell is THAT!?" Yang exclaims in shock.
"I don't even want to know!" Blake says.
Salem looks at the deceased creature with intrigue.
"I think I have an idea for a new Grimm." Salem thinks.
"Looks like somebody had a bad day." Yang says.
"What is it?" Blake asks.
"I think the better question is what WAS it?" Jeanne says.
"Definitely not the welcoming community, that's for sure." Neo says.
Weiss stares at the creature for a moment before remembering their objective.
"Come on guys." Weiss says. "We've got a job to do."
The rangers nod before continuing on their journey. Not knowing that they are being watched by a cloaked figure carrying a bronze-colored staff from above. Said figure leaves after a moment of observing the new visitors.
"Who was that?" Weiss asks.
"No idea." Ruby says while shaking her head. "But I hope they're friendly."
Jaune and Pyrrha share a look.
"You think?" Jaune asks.
"Possibly." Pyrrha says.
Blaze glances at the two with a slight knowing grin.
[Scene changes to Abandoned Factory]
While the rangers continue their quest to save Ozma, Salem was making her own plans. Mordant and Goldar, her new flunkies joining her.
"Taking over the world is one thing." Salem says with her arms folded. "Finding good help to run it for you, that's the killer."
Salem nods in agreement with her counterpart. "Very true."
"Would you like me to make a few calls?" Mordant asks.
Salem taps her fingers on her arm before getting an idea. She then whirls around to face her minions.
"No need!" Salem says with glee. "I'm going to recruit the parents of Vale."
"WHAT!?" The heroes exclaim in shock.
Salem grins. "Ingenious."
"She's gonna make all the adults in Vale do her dirty work?" Blake asks.
"How exactly?" Neo asks. "One look at her and they'll run for the hills."
"Uh. no offense mistress, but they might find you a little frightening." Goldar says.
Mordant suddenly burps. Causing Salem to roll her eyes.
"Well, I suppose you'd be the experts on that." Salem says sarcastically. She then grabs Mordant by his snout. "You forget. I'm a master of disguise."
"How could I forget?" Mordant asks as Salem let's go of his snout. "I never knew."
Salem walks towards the edge of a platform. "First, I'll turn them into zombies and then order them to dig up my Grimm."
"Uh, how are you gonna do that?" Goldar asks.
Salem grins maliciously. "By showing them the wonders of being wicked. With a little bit of Salem's ooze."
Salem zaps a machine with her magic. The machine then begins to pour a black liquid into a funnel. The witch laughs as she zaps another machine that begins to pour more of the same liquid. Salem then powers up the rest of the factory.
"What is that stuff?" Jaune asks with a sick look on his face.
"Not good, I can tell you that." Oscar says with Ozpin agreeing with him.
"Finally, I get to finish what I stared 6,000 years ago!" Salem exclaims. Mordant gives a little cheer as Salem continues. "Little do they know my weapons of destruction lie buried beneath their feet."
Salem laughs, causing Mordant and Goldar to join her. After a moment, the witch looks sharply at her minions.
"Silence!" Salem exclaims, causing her flunkies to shut up. "Get to work!"
"Yes, your majesty!"
"I don't like this." Summer says with an uneasy look.
"Me either." Ruby says.
[Scene changes to Phados]
While Salem was conducting her evil plans, the rangers continue their quest.
Weiss soon notices that Neo has stopped walking and is instead gazing at the ocean in thought.
"Hey, you okay?" Weiss asks gently.
Neo glances at Weiss with a sad smile. "I was just thinkin' about Ozma. Y'know, everything we've been through together."
Weiss nods in agreement. She then pats Neo's shoulder. "He'll make it. We'll find this power and then we'll send that witch Salem back to wherever she crawled out of."
Neo gives a small smile.
Salem frowns at the rangers words. Cinder openly gags at the mushy moment. The female heroes, baring Weiss and Neo, coo at the heart-felt moment. Weiss however blushes while Neo grins at the ice princess while wiggling her eyebrows.
Weiss ushers Neo to catch up with the other rangers, but when she turns around, she shrieks as the Nevermores drop in! The teens take cover as the creatures circle around them.
"They're everywhere!" Weiss exclaims.
"That is terrifying!" Penny exclaims.
"How are they gonna get through this?" Roman asks. "No powers. No weapons. No spandex."
"Roman...!" Blaze says menacingly.
"NOT spandex!" Roman exclaims. "Right, got it!"
The Nevermores land and proceed to battle the rangers. The teens put up a fight but are proving to be no match to the bird creatures.
A Nevermore swoops in on Jeanne. The blue ranger flips over the creature. Causing it to crash painfully into a stalagmite.
The audience winces at the Nevermores injury.
"You know the funny thing about morphing?" Jeanne asks.
"What?" Ruby asks.
"You don't appreciate it till you can't do it anyMORE!" Jeanne says before a Nevermore tackles her.
Neo kicks a Nevermore back. Only for another to grab her with it's talons! It then lifts her high into the air!
"Oi!" Neo exclaims. "Leggo of me!"
Neo struggles in the Nevermores grip. The other rangers try to rescue her but are held back by the other Nevermores.
"They're too strong!" Yang exclaims.
"We need our powers!" Blake exclaims.
"Game." Salem thinks with a smirk. "Set. Match."
"Looks like the end of the rangers." Cinder says with a grin.
"Assumption is the mother of all foul-ups." Blaze says with a frown.
"Rrg!" Neo grunts. "Flock off, feather face!"
All hope seems lost. Until a shrill noise is heard from above. The rangers and the Nevermores look up to see a cloaked figure holding a staff on top a plateau. The sound distracts the Nevermore holding Neo, causing it to let go of it's captive. Said girl manages to land safely on the ground.
The cloaked figure jumps off the plateau and lands on the ground. They then whip off their cloak. Revealing a tall woman with green eyes and red hair. Wearing what looks like a dark green stylized bikini with matching knee-high boots.
"It's Pyrrha!" Ruby says with a cheer.
"Perfect timing." Blake says with a smile.
Yang whistles at Pyrrha's counterpart. "Gotta say, you really pull off that look, P-Money."
"I knew it." Pyrrha mutters. Not knowing that Jaune was blushing at his girlfriends counterpart.
The woman jumps down as the Nevermores close in on her. She bashes one of the creatures with her staff then trips another. A Nevermore tries to attack the woman from behind, only for the warrior to hit it in the stomach with the back of her staff. The woman twirls her staff around before swinging her staff at two more of the bird creatures.
The heroes are amazed by Pyrrha's skills.
The woman takes a breath before splitting her staff in half. She then twirls the two halves, resulting in a high pitch sound that affects not only the Nevermores, but the rangers as well.
"A high frequency sound that wards off Grimm." Penny analyzes.
"Atlas could've weaponized that." Weiss says with a frown. "Would've done a lot of good."
The Nevermores scramble as they try to block out the sound emitting from the woman's weapon. Eventually, the noise becomes too much for the creatures to bare and they fly away. With the creatures dealt with, the woman stops twirling her staffs.
"Thanks for the save Pyrrha." Yang says.
"You're welcome." Pyrrha says with a beaming smile.
The rangers approach the woman as she reassembles her staff.
"That was amazing." Ruby says while extending her hand. "Thanks."
The woman whirls around and smacks Ruby's hand away.
"Ow!" Ruby says while cradling her hand.
"What they hell, Pyrrha?!" Yang rages.
"I'm sorry!" Pyrrha exclaims.
"If you want to thank me, go back to wherever it is you came from." The woman says.
"We can't go back." Yang says with a shake of her head.
"We were told there's a great power here." Jeanne says. "Is that true?"
"Yes." The woman says. "The ground it littered with the bones of those have tried and failed."
"Well, if that isn't ominous." Roman says.
"Either way, we can't turn back even if we wanted to." Weiss says.
"Yeah, we're kinda stuck there." Ruby says.
The rangers look amongst themselves before Weiss takes charge.
"We're different." Weiss says confidently. "We won't fail."
The woman sweeps Weiss off her feet with her staff. Before the white ranger can get her baring's, the woman presses her staff at her chest.
"Jezz!" Neo says. "Ain't the friendly sort, are you?"
"They are kind of trespassing." Roman says.
"Leave Phados." The woman says threateningly. "Before it's too late."
"Look." Yang says with her hands raised. "We don't want any trouble. Our leader, Ozama got hurt-"
The woman snaps up to Yang with a look of confusion and surprise. "Ozma? ...Did you say Ozma?"
"You know Ozma?" Neo asks. "Who are you?"
The woman looks at the rangers for a moment before letting Weiss up.
"I am Pyrrha." The woman says. "Master Warrior of the planet Phados."
"Cool." Ruby says with stars in her eyes.
"Master Warrior of a whole planet." Summer says. "And I thought being a professional huntress was amazing." Summer then mutters. "The years she must've spent developing her skill... It makes me wonder how old she really is."
"What has happened to Ozma?" Pyrrha asks.
"He was attacked by this cosmic being called Salem." Ruby says.
Pyrrha's eyes widen in slight horror. "Salem is free?"
"You heard of her?" Jeanne asks.
"Salem is a monster." Pyrrha says. She then pauses for a moment as if to make a decision. "If we don't hurry, your planet is doomed." Pyrrha walks ahead of the rangers. "Follow me."
The rangers look amongst themselves before following Pyrrha.
[Scene changes to Command Center]
While the rangers follow Pyrrha, Ozma's condition is getting worse.
"Penny..." Ozma says. "I'm deeply concerned about the rangers."
"Please, Ozma." Penny says with a concerned look. "Save your strength. You need to rest."
Ozma presses on. "We must try to communicate with them... It's possible I can help them."
Penny taps the side of her head in thought. "Perhaps if I could locate a vertical defector, then we could make contact through the viewing globe."
Ozma takes a deep breath before he suddenly begins to breath heavily. "...Please... Please... hurry..."
Seeing her oldest friend's condition, Penny panics before running off. "Oh dear! Hold on!"
"Please hang in there." Ruby pleads.
"Things aren't looking good." Oscar thinks.
"I believe I don't have much time left." Ozpin says. "If the rangers don't make it back in time, all is lost."
[Scene changes to fairgrounds]
A large group of kids, one of whom happens to be Oscar, gather around an individual. Said person being a female dressed as a stereotypical witch with slightly pale skin, white hair and red eyes. In her hands, two bottles of a product called Ooze.
"Oh, come on!" Yang exclaims. "Even I can tell who that is!"
"Guys and girls, girls and guys, gather around and feast your eyes." The witch rhymes. "I promise you all, you just can't lose when you've got your own supply of Salem's ooze."
"Oh great, she rhymes." Blaze says with a deadpan.
"What are we supposed to do with it?" A kid asks.
"Show it to your parents." The disguised witch says with a grin. "Show it to your friends. When you've got your ooze, the fun never ends."
A little boy experiments with the weird substance. "This is kind of gross."
"You may have heard the phrase that looks can be deceiving." Salem says. "I'm sure that when you've tried it, you all will be believing."
"Come on." Jaune says with a scoff. "Even kids know not to take things from strangers. Especially ones dressed like that."
"And did I mention it's free?" Salem asks.
A sense of doom envelopes the heroes along with Neo and Roman.
"...Shit." Jaune says after a pause.
"I'm sorry." Cinder says with a smug grin. "Did you say something?"
"That you're a bit-" Jaune mutters with a frown.
"I'll take some!" A teenaged boy says.
The kids scramble for a bottle of Salem's ooze. Even Oscar, though he looks sceptical. Let it be known never to underestimate to power of free stuff.
"Take it home in boxes." Salem says. "Take it home in cases. If your parent try to stop you, just throw it in their faces!"
[Scene changes to Phados]
Unaware of Salem's plans, the rangers continue their quest with Pyrrha guiding them.
"Pyrrha?" Jeanne asks. "Where are you taking us?"
"You shall know soon enough." Pyrrha says.
"Ominous." Blaze says.
"Well, we have to hurry." Neo says. "Ozma won't last much longer."
After what seems like hours of walking, evident by the fact that the sun is beginning to set, Pyrrha leads the rangers to a mountain top sanctuary. The rangers are amazed by the architecture.
"What is this place?" Weiss asks.
"These are the ancient ruins of the Ninjetti Temple." Pyrrha says.
"Nin-what?" Ruby asks in confusion.
"A group of individuals who followed the old ways of the ninja." Blaze says. "They believed that every human being has an animal spirit within them."
"Ninja's, huh?" Yang asks while bumping her elbow gently at Blake's shoulder. "Sounds right up your alley, huh?"
"Too bad Ren isn't here." Jaune says. "He would've loved this."
Pyrrha leads the rangers to the edge of the temple. Where a jungle with a large mountain can be seen in the distance.
"There." Pyrrha says. "Beyond the Neola jungle is the monolith. Inside awaits the Power of the Universe. The monolith is heavily guarded against intruders. No one has ever survived an attempt to reach it."
The heroes gain uneasy looks at their counterparts situation.
"Then how can we?" Yang asks.
Pyrrha smiles gently at the rangers. "You were chosen by Ozma. I have faith in his wisdom."
"Can you help us?" Weiss asks.
Pyrrha gives Weiss a slight nod before walking to the center of the temple. The rangers following her.
"We will call upon the sacred animals of the Ninjetti for help."
[Scene changes to Vale]
Back in Vale, or rather ways away from the city, Hazel is seen pulling into the driveway of his home.
"Wow." Oscar says. "Nice house."
Hazel enters the house. "Oscar?"
Hazel looks around and notices his son isn't home. As he looks to the countertop, he sees a odd looking jar.
Salem grins at Hazel's counterpart. Having an idea on what's about to happen.
"Salem's ooze!" Weiss exclaims.
"Hazel, don't touch it!" Oscar exclaims.
Hazel picks up the jar and unscrews it. He then sniffs it and is repulsed by the smell. Hazel sticks his fingers into the jar and as soon as the ooze touches him, an electrical pulse runs through his body. After a moment, Hazel jerks forward a little as he gains a blank look with his eyes turning red.
"He's mine again." Salem says with a smirk.
"No..." Oscar whispers with wide eyes.
Hazel, now under Salem's control, leaves the house. As he walks to his destination, dozens of adults can be seen walking along with him. Each one with the same red eyes.
"They're zombies." Ruby says with wide eyes.
"Duh." Cinder mutters with a grin.
[Scene changes to Command Center]
Penny is seen fiddling with a console. After a moment, she nods her head.
"There." Penny says. "That should do it."
On the Viewing globe, a news broadcast can be seen flickering.
"Wow." Yang says. "Wonder how many channels that thing get's."
"Vale PD has been fielding hundreds of calls from concerned citizens as the number of missing parents continues to grow." Lisa Lavender reports.
Suddenly, the globes picture flickers before showing a commercial add from a very familiar witch. The sight of the witch causes Ozma unneeded worry.
"Hello, everyone." Salem says. "Salem here. Are you board with your work? Are you board with your life? Then come on down to ooze city. And let's get sticky!"
"Oh dear!" Penny exclaims.
"Salem's evil plot has taken shape." Ozma says. He then thinks about the rangers. "...I just hope they're not too late."
"Hang in there, Oz." Yang mutters.
[Scene changes to Phados]
The sun had set some time ago on Phados. At the temple, the rangers gathered around Pyrrha as said Master Warrior made a fire. She then gathers some dust from a pouch on her right hip.
"Buried deep within each of us is an animal spirit waiting to be unleashed." Pyrrha says. "Close your eyes and look deep inside."
The rangers look amongst themselves before following Pyrrha's instructions.
"Ooh!" Ruby says. "I wonder what our animal spirits are gonna be."
"Hn." Blaze grunts in boredom.
Neo raises an eyebrow in confusion. "What's with the tude? What's your spirit animal?"
"A butterfly." Blaze mutters. "At least that's what that test I took says."
Neo blinks once. Then twice. "Huh."
Pyrrha blows the dust into the fire and the flame erupts. The Master Warrior watches as a shimmering light surrounds the rangers. In a flash, the rangers appearances change. Each one wearing a ninja costume in their colors with a specific animal badge.
The heroes look at their counterparts in amazement.
"Huh." Yang says with an impressed tone. "I look badass as a ninja."
"I must admit, you all look great." Summer says.
Blake subtly wipes a tear from her eye. "My secret dream has come true."
The rangers open their eyes as if feeling a change within themselves. They then examine their new looks as Pyrrha looks on with a smile.
The rangers remove their mask and hoods. Pyrrha then approaches Yang.
"Yang, you are the bear." Pyrrha says. "Fierce and unstoppable."
Yang folds her arms with a grin. "Well, alright."
Pyrrha moves towards Ruby. "Ruby, powerful, smart. You are the mighty ape."
"Okay, I guess." Ruby says with a conflicted look. "Couldn't I have been a dog or a wolf."
"I think an ape fits well for you, Petal." Summer says while giving Ruby a side hug.
Ruby smiles at her mothers words.
"Personally, I think Little Red and Goldilocks' animals got switched." Roman thinks.
Pyrrha faces Jeanne. "Jeanne, you are the wolf. Cunning and swift."
"Nice one, sis." Jaune says.
Pyrrha moves towards Neo. "Agile Neo, light as a feather. You are the crane."
"That fits me to a tee." Neo says with a grin.
Pyrrha moves towards Blake, who strangely looks depressed.
"Blake, what's wrong?" Pyrrha asks.
"I always thought I was a cat." Blake says with a frown. "But I'm a frog."
"Huh?" The audience asks dumbly.
Pyrrha rolls her eyes in amusement. "Perhaps. But the frog symbolizes potential, purity." Pyrrha places a hand on Blake's shoulder. "And good luck."
Blake's mood improves with Pyrrha's words.
Blake thinks for a moment before shrugging her shoulders. "Alright, I'll take it."
Pyrrha moves towards Weiss. "And you Weiss are the falcon. Winged lord, or in your case empress, of the skies."
Weiss folds her arms with a smile.
Pyrrha walks pass the rangers.
"To be in harmony with the sacred animal spirit is to have the force of the Ninjetti." Pyrrha says. She then smiles at the rangers. "To those who are Ninjetti, anything is possible." Pyrrha suddenly loses her smile and the rangers notice the change in mood. "But... I'm afraid that you must do this on your own."
"Why?" Weiss asks.
"You're not coming with us?" Yang asks.
Pyrrha frowns. "If only I could. One step beyond this plateau and I would begin to age as rapidly as Ozma is now."
"So she IS older than she looks." Summer says.
"Whatever power surrounding the temple must keep her at a certain age physically." Ozpin says with Oscar in agreement.
"The strength is inside you." Pyrrha says with a comforting smile. "Trust it. Your sacred animals will be your guide."
Though saddened that their new ally can't join them on their quest, they are grateful for her help.
"May your animal spirits watch over you." Pyrrha says with a sudden echo.
A light suddenly begins to shimmer around Pyrrha much like with the rangers earlier. In a flash of light, Pyrrha disappears. And in her place, an owl."
"Whoa!" Jaune exclaims. "What just happened? She's an owl?"
"I get it." Penny says. "Owl's represent wisdom and guidance."
"I believe the phrase is the wise old owl." Summer says. "That fits Pyrrha to a tee."
Pyrrha smiles at her friends words.
The owl, Pyrrha, gives a hoot before flying off.
[Scene changes to Vale]
Back on Remnant, Oscar is seen entering his house.
"Dad?" Oscar asks. "Dad?"
Oscar looks towards the countertop and sees the jar of ooze he go earlier open with some dripping on the floor. The boy then sees something else. His dad's car keys.
"Dad, where are you?" Oscar asks as he goes upstairs.
The heroes gain grim looks at Oscar's plight.
[Scene changes to construction sight]
Hundreds of adults are seen excavating. Doing their mistresses bidding. Said mistress is seen sitting on a throne sipping wine with Goldar next to her.
"I forgot how slow parents are." Salem says. "I thought my Grimm would be dug up by now."
Salem looks around in boredom. She then gains an idea before looking at Goldar.
"Let's have some fun." Salem says. She then looks at an adult male. "You there!"
The zombified adult halts what he was doing and stands at attention.
"Dance for us." Salem says.
Obeying his mistresses command, the adult begins to dance. Salem and Goldar look at each other unimpressed. The witch then turns her attention back her puppet.
"Do the swim." Salem says.
The zombified male obeys Salem's command. Getting a few laughs from her and Goldar.
"Ballet!" Goldar says.
The adult obeys the command given to him and performs a bit from swan lake. Much to Salem and Goldar's amusement.
The heroes frown at the scene before them while Salem and Cinder snicker quietly.
"This is so degrading." Blake says.
"What makes it worse is that he isn't that bad." Weiss begrudgingly says.
Goldar stops laughing as he hears a familiar cry from above. He looks behind him and sees the Nevermores.
"Mistress, they're back." Goldar says.
Salem looks above her and see's her creations descending upon them.
"Excellent." Salem says with a grin.
The Nevermores squawk as they land. Salem then walks towards them and quiets them down.
"Stop your screeching." Salem says with a slight laugh. "How did you fare?"
"Grimm can't talk." Ruby says. Her eyes then widen slightly. "Unless you count the-"
"We agreed to never talk about that again!" Yang quickly interrupts.
Summer looks at her daughters in confusion. She then sees Salem smirking, causing the veteran huntress to frown.
"It couldn't have gone better." A Nevermore says.
Ruby and Yang pale slightly after hearing the Nevermore speak.
*Seriously, seeing who the Hound really was gave me nightmares*
Salem grins at the news.
"Threw one of them off a mountain." A Nevermore says. "One into a raging river."
"LIES!" Jaune exclaims.
"So, they've all been destroyed?" Salem asks.
The Nevermores look at each other uneasily before facing their mistress.
"Well... we were about to destroy them but-" A Nevermore says.
"What?!" Salem exclaims. "You didn't kill them? You call yourselves Nevermores? You're more like Nevernots! I should have you all stuffed and roasted!"
Blaze, who was about to eat a chicken wing, drops it on a plate with a huff.
"Great." Blaze says sarcastically. "Now I've lost my appetite."
The Nevermores fearfully squawk at their mistresses rage.
"B-but mistress, there was this monster with these huge sticks." A Nevermore says. "It kept twirl them around."
Salem pauses at her Nevermores words. A sudden feeling of annoyance begins to fill her.
"Sticks?" Salem grounds out. "Did these sticks have a whistling sound?"
"Does she know Pyrrha?" Yang asks.
"Well, it was more like nails on a chalkboard." The Nevermore says.
Salem's magic starts to crackle around her in response to her anger.
"Pyrrha." Salem says with a growl. "That miserable, manipulating, loathsome she-devil of a witch!" Suddenly, Salem's eyes widen in realization. "If she leads them to the Great Power, everything will be ruined."
"Well!" Pyrrha thinks indignantly with a frown.
"You want us to take another whack at it?" A Nevermore asks.
Salem snarls. "How about taking another quack at it?!"
Salem unleashes a bolt of lightning from her hand and fries the Nevermores until they explode! Leaving nothing but a pile of black feathers that begin to vanish. A bunch of feathers get stuck on Salem's face before she rips them off.
"No time to waste." Salem says. "My Grimm MUST be unearthed by sundown!"
The heroes take a few moments to process what just happened.
"Whelp, she's right pissed, ain't she?" Neo asks rhetorically.
