Prologue

It was a normal day at the Dursleys' house in Surrey, England, a loving family of three… and Harry Potter. The orphaned nephew of Petunia was certainly not a Dursley, forced to do all of the chores while darling cousin Dudley did nothing to help out. He felt like a slave, but never complained out of fear of the family patriarch, Vernon, and his violent temper. Harry was never thanked for his efforts, it was expected of him, and punished if he didn't do it exactly right. Only fair for their generous adoption, but Harry knew it wasn't normal, that it wasn't how a family was supposed to work. Vernon never laid a hand on Dudley, but Harry was fair game for all of their bullying and abuse. His parents had died when he was just a baby, but he missed them every day, mourning the life he could have had. The Dursleys tolerated him, and he tolerated them, a miserable deal for both parties.

In an adjacent place, Headmaster Ambrose was pacing in his office when his crystal ball activated. The crystal ball only activates when a wizard reaches magical awakening, ready to be schooled. On his face was an expression of anger, he did not like what he saw when he gazed into the life of the dark-haired boy. It took a lot to get Ambrose angry.
"Gamma. Call Deathdreamer, Mythblade and Natureking to my office immediately," He asked his avian assistant in a tone of urgency. He paced back and forth some more, impatient to begin extraction.

Three people arrived at the headmaster's office. The first was Samuel Deathdreamer, dressed in black, white and red robes with a matching red mask concealing his features. He wielded a bronze spear, as did the third. The second was Amanda Mythblade, a woman with blonde hair and green eyes. She was wearing a robe of light blue with teal-colored patterns. The third was Maki Natureking, a young man with black hair and brown eyes. Unlike the others, he was clad not in robes, but in dark purple and navy armor with a teal-colored cape.

"Headmaster," Samuel began as the trio politely bowed in unison. "Has something happened? You seem troubled."
The headmaster chuckled softly, his expression softening for a moment.
"Young wizards we've been over this, you need not bow to me. I am but a humble teacher,"
His soft smile faded again, almost to the point of a grimace as he continued.
"However… I'm afraid this isn't a social call. Are you still familiar with the Evans family?"
Samuel nodded in response.
"Familiar yes, close… no. It has been a number of years since I had any contact with my cousins. I wanted nothing to do with them after the antics of that jealous harpy, Petunia. I was supposed to attend Hogwarts with Lily, but there was something… off about the headmaster. I looked into it, found out about you and Ravenwood and tried to convince Lily to come here with me, but she had a crush on a boy or something and she chose to stay. The rest is history." Sam said, "I'm glad she didn't convince me to attend Hogwarts, I am very thankful that Ravenwood accepted me as a student instead." He added, glancing at each of his partners.
The headmaster nodded thoughtfully, and said, "As I'm sure you're aware, Lily went on to marry that boy, and they had a son. Up until now, we'd believed the child was missing or killed after that… certain event… but I do believe I found him." Ambrose added with a clearly upset tone
"Where? You're not suggesting Petunia…?" Sam asked with a hint of worry in his voice.
"I'm afraid so," Ambros replied solemnly.
"Is he okay? Petunia would never harbor a wizard in her house, what's the catch?" Sam was starting to become angry now too, but Maki placed his hands on his shoulders to try and calm him down. Sam reached up to hold his partner's hand gently.
"He is alive, that's all that matters. You three will be the extraction team. Bring him home." Professor Ambrose said firmly, holding out a letter with more detailed instructions.
Amanda took the note and began to read, while Sam turned to face Maki, bringing his partner's hand up to the mask in a kissing gesture.
"It's your call, Sam, you know these people. Whatever strategy you decide-" Amanda said, putting the note away, "-We're with you."
Sam smiled at his partners under his mask, sliding it up to kiss Amanda on the lips. Maki made a face, feeling left out. Sam gave him a peck on the cheek and he blushed a deep red.
"Thanks, guys." He said, putting the mask back in place.
The three poofed away as Ambrose sighed, shaking his head.
"Ah, Young love." Ambrose said, with a slight chuckle.
