Chapter 1 The Rescue team

Privet Drive, Surrey UK

In a dark alley, smoke of white, orange and yellow appeared in thin air, and out of the gloom stepped the three wizards.

"So what is the plan Sam, "Amanda asked.
"First we must make the little pig want to go to the Zoo… from there you two will keep Harry distracted and make sure to use your photomancy skills to take pictures of any scars, bruises and other evidence of mistreatment, in case we have any particular problems with the Aurors over here-" Sam paused for a moment, then continued. "-I will visit the lady of the house to catch up on good times and ask to take Harry off their hands no questions asked. A deal like that should be irresistible to that banshee, and from there we should be home free. "Sam finished. His partners nodded in agreement.

"Plan B?" Maki asked.

"Plan B is necromancy. If there's any interference from Dumbledore or the Aurors, Lily and James would be able to talk them down. I'm certain they would object to this treatment of their son; they only need a conduit to the mortal realm." Sam said.

Maki and Amanda nodded again; all were in agreement.

"But, before I go-" With a puff of smoke, Sam changed clothes to a black suit with a red tie, the mask gone too, his green eyes glistening and a big smile on his face. He brushed a stray brown hair away from his face before asking,
"-How do I look? I bought this suit at Marleybone."

Amanda and Maki looked at each other, faces lighting up. They planted a kiss on either of his cheeks and said,
"As handsome as always."
"I do wish you didn't have to cover up so often," Maki teased.

Sam blushed but quickly regained his composure.
"Ahem… ah, Amanda, the letter please."

"Sure," She whispered, kissing his lips as she pressed the paper into his chest.
"Thanks, love. I will be off now. But before I visit the Dursleys, I have to visit Mrs Figg."

As Sam ventured to the squib's house, he unfolded the parchment and skimmed as he walked, It was a record of every incident, every instance of child abuse.
The list was extensive, being locked in a cupboard under the stairs, malnutrition, assault in the form of "games" by Dudley and his friends, Vernon's beatings, Petunia's controlling nature… It disturbed Sam deeply, and he felt the rage and shame rise up in his chest. He didn't know, but he didn't care to know either. Unwittingly he'd had a part to play in Dumbledore's scheme. Tonight that was going to change.

That he took a mental vow to never let Dumbledore even hear his name again and vowed to protect Harry with his own life.

Mrs. Figg heard knocking at the door, and opened it cautiously with the door chain fastened securely.

"Hello, young sir, what can I do for you?" Arabella asked, but Sam didn't indulge in pleasantries this time. He produced a small vial, and spoke the words of the incantation.
"Adripio Animae."

Arabella felt strange, like she was seeing herself from the outside.
"Animae Sigillum." Sam commanded, placing the bottle on the ground. A whirlwind sucked Mrs. Figg's soul into the bottle, and her body dropped lifelessly to the floor. Sam put a cork in the bottle, his expression softening for a moment.

"I'm sorry Arabella. I'll return you to your body once my business is concluded here."
"Who are you?" Arabella asked. "What do you want with me?"

"I can't take any chances. I'm just trying to keep my nephew safe." He replied cryptically. He cast a stasis charm on the seemingly dead husk and closed the door. He placed the vial in his pocket, and carried on.

His magic began to channel by his will as he muttered, "From the realm of death, I call for thy noble steed, Umbra!" His voice rose to a shout at the mention of the beast's name, as a dark corridor opened and a horse with dark bat-like wings approached its summoner, the portal closing swiftly behind him once he had fully emerged. He mounted his steed and disappeared into the clouds.

Meanwhile, Albus waited in radio silence for Arabella to return to the phone. She'd been gone for nearly fifteen minutes which was very unusual. Arabella was always prompt, and only ever took two-minute breaks without rescheduling the whole thing. He was starting to worry, and announced to the silence he was coming in person. When he arrived he found Arabella lying near the locked front door, lifeless. But she wasn't dead, there was a stasis charm around her body keeping it safe from the ravages of time.
"This is not the work of a death eater," Dumbledore said to himself. Who would do something like this? He thought to himself, before arriving at his conclusion. Ravenwood. More specifically, an employee of the Grim Reaper. Samuel Deathdreamer.
"This is terrible…" He muttered, "He's come after the boy, so many carefully laid plans, he's going to doom us all!" He became more agitated with every word, quickly levitating Arabella's body up onto the couch. He left just as quickly as he came, without a trace.
