Several submarines were traveling beneath the gates. Inside, waterbenders moved the subs. Inside a sub the mechanist was sitting at the front. Hakoda, Sokka, Pipsqueak, and Bato were standing behind him.
Hakoda placed a hand on Sokka's shoulder. "You've really outdone yourself this time, son."
"Are you ready for the Fire Nation to know the Avatar is alive?" Sokka grinned at Aang.
"I'm ready." Aang said firmly, taking a deep breath. "If Queen Khione can do this, so can I."
"I hope you kick some serious Fire Lord butt!" Reiko grinned.
"Everyone listen up." Hakoda said firmly "The next time we resurface, it'll be on the beaches. So stay alert, and fight smart. Now break time's over, back in the subs." Everyone left Katara and Aang alone.
"Katara, I…" Aang began.
"Aang, I…" Katara said at the same time.
"We've been through so many things together, and I've seen you grow up so much. You're not that little goofy kid I found in the iceberg anymore." Katara said. Aang blushed. "I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm really proud of you."
"Everything's gonna be different after today, isn't it." Aang said softly.
"Yes, it is." Katara replied.
"What if ... what if I don't come back?" Aang worried.
"Aang, don't say that, of course you'll-" Katara wass cut off as Aang kissed her. After the kiss, Katara blushed and stared sadly after Aang as he confidently snapped his glider and flew away.
"Katara, what are you doing? It's time to submerge." Sokka said softly.
"What? Right, I'm on it." Katara said.
Aang Jumped onto Appa and waterbended a sphere of water around his head before submerging.
The scene cuts to show Appa landing on the edge of the battlefield. Sokka and Katara helped Hakoda onto the ground, and Katara started trying to heal him.
"How does that feel, dad?" Katara asked.
"Ah, a little, better. I need, to get back to the troops." Hakoda Attempted to stand but was too weak to. "Ahh!"
"You're hurt, badly. You can't fight anymore." Katara said firmly.
"Everyone's counting on me to lead this mission Katara, I won't let them down." Hakoda Attempted to stand again but couldn't. "Ahh!"
"Can't you heal him any faster?" Sokka worried.
"I'm doing everything I can." Katara grumbled back.
Sokka Looked around before looking confidant. "I'll do it."
"No offense Sokka, but you're not exactly Mr. Healing Hands."
"No." Sokka Stood confidently. "I'll lead the invasion force."
"Don't be crazy Sokka." Katara said softly.
Maybe I am a little crazy, but the eclipse is about to start and we need to be up that volcano by the time it does." Sokka pointed out.
"You can do this." Hakoda said. "I'm proud of you son."
"I still think you're crazy, but I'm proud of you too." Katara smiled.
Sokka Nodded, put his helmet on and boarded Appa. "Yip yip."
Appa flew away. There's as a mess of Fire Nation tanks destroyed everywhere. Several raised battlements fired on the army below. Appa landed and took out an enemy tank as Sokka made his way to the back of the saddle to rally the soldiers.
"Listen up, everyone. I want the tanks in wedge formation. Warriors and benders in the middle. We're taking that tower, and heading for the royal palace." Sokka drew his sword and thrust it forward. "Charge!"
The tanks were making their way up the volcano, unaffected by fire blasts from firebenders in front. Sokka steered a vehicle full of explosives into a wall before jumping off. There were two explosions at the inner walls. Sokka stood, soldiers behind him, as they charged forward. Firebenders attempted to stop them but were pushed back. Tyro ran in with the other troops as Bato appeared behind him.
"The Fire Nation is falling back!" Tyro called out.
"Sokka, we're on our way to victory!" Bato grinned.
Sokka looked ahead.

Aang stood on the edge of the volcano. He glid down to a building attempting to hide. He rose, confused, as there is nobody there.
Aang Looked around. "That's strange. No one's here. Not even Kurai…" He continued onto the Royal Palace, broke open the door, and took a fighting stance. "The Avatar is back!" He Realized no one was around he relaxed, looking confused. "Hello? Anyone home?"
He walked around. Kurai was gone. The Fire Lord was gone.
He had failed.
"No…" he whispered. He Knelt down on the ground; frustrated. "No, no, no! Fire Lord Ozai, where are you!?"
