Chapter 42: The Next Round
While Danny dealt with Katie, Pinky and the Brain was looking over Vlad's files.
They hoped to find something to stop her rampage, like the schematics of the device planted on Katie. Pinky and the Brain were jumping across the keyboard, since they were both still mice and couldn't exactly type as fast human being could, but they tried their best.
"Hurry Pinky, we have to find that device's blue prints to that device!..."Brain said, sounding impatient.
"I'm hurrying, Brain. I just found out my favorite show got new episodes, he had his streaming service open..." Pinky said as he skimmed through it.
Danny, who had crashed nearby due to Katie sending him flying, heard this and couldn't help but comment on it.
"Vlad watches streaming shows?..."The ghost boy asked, a little curious.
Brain smacked Pinky in the back of the head.
"Not now, Pinky!..."The little megalomaniac snapped before getting curious. "Really? How many episodes?..."He asked, curious but now was not the time for that.
"Guys! Focus..." Danny shouted.
"Right, right. Back to the matter at hand..."Brain said as he went through the files.
"Yeah, we'll binge watch later..."Pinky said, being his usual goofy self.
"No, sit down and watch, I can handle her for the whole season..."Danny said, as sarcastically as possible.
"Really?..."Pinky asked, sounding excited.
"NO!..."Danny and The Brain both yelled at him, irritated.
"Just hurry and get the blueprints to-..."Danny said, as he try to find out how much the little mice knew about Vlad's device until he was interrupted.
"Danny!..."Sam called out as she and Tucker ran in, along with Jazz, looking a bit exhausted from all the running.
Terror froze them as they saw the eyes of a monster that was still tearing the place apart. They hadn't seen Katie so close in her feral forms, until now.
"What's go-holy moly!..." Sam gasped when she saw Katie's monstrous form in all it's monstrous rage, still tearing apart Vlad's property.
Monster Katie snarled at them. Her piercing gaze was enough to expel the teens' souls.
"GRRRRRRRRRR!..."The she-beast let out, still angry and feral, looking ready to pummel them.
Tucker gave a nervous grin before turning around and tried to walk away, but Sam stopped him by pulling him back. Jazz was extremely and genuinely curious about Katie's monstrous form, while Sam was very frightened and overly cautious about this.
This made every scary movie they ever saw a bore. And they fight ghosts on a daily basis!
"I WANT OUT!..."Monster Katie yelled, and stomped her foot, causing the ground to shake like gelatin.
"Man, I'm glad I went to the bathroom before we got here..."Tucker said, while the girls glared at him.
Katie stomped once more and it was another small earthquake. Danny had to turn them all intangible to prevent any debris hitting them. Once done, the human teenagers felt their spine jolt out of their backs.
"I just hope that she never does this near the San Andreas' fault..."Jazz said, still worried for their own health.
"Not the time…" They went in unison.
Danny tried to go to the monster girl and fight her off. However, the teens watched as the ghost boy was slammed into a wall...painfully.
"Do something, Brain!..." Danny shouted.
"Keep her busy, while Pinky and I resume looking for the file..."Brain ordered.
Danny nodded and took off to keep the temperamental teenage monster busy, ready to take on the giant teenage behemoth again.
As he did so, his friends and his sister turned to the mutated lab mice.
"How do we help?..." Sam asked.
"That madman's computer. Once there, maybe I can hack it and find the blueprints..."Brain said as he gestured to Tucker.
"And us?..."Jazz asked.
"You make sure not to get crushed or the computer, that's the only use you two have right now..."Brain ordered as he climbed onto Tucker's shoulder and pointed him towards the computer.
"Quickly type, bespectacled teen. Hurry, time is of the essence!..." Brain ordered, planting his heel in the boy like he was wearing spurs.
Tucker did as he was told and typed fast and did his best to avoid mistakes. However, once the turned on the computer, they saw numerous pictures of a woman with short reddish brown hair and purple eyes.
"Who is that?..."Brain asked, curious.
"Danny's mom? Oh man, this is SO gross!..."Tucker said, disturbed by the sight of this.
"Creepy. I could've gone throughout my entire life without seeing any of that!..."Sam said, not impressed at this rather pathetic and depressing display.
"How do you think I feel?!..."Jazz said, wishing that she could unsee this.
"So, this is her... his obsession..." Brain commented.
"She's pretty..."Pinky commented, as he looked at the picture of Mrs. Fenton.
Tucker sent the little rodent a weirded out look and then looked to his partner.
"Ignore Pinky. Now let's find those blue prints..."Brain said as they began typing fast and search for something.
They were going through file after file of photos, videos, and audio recordings that were all on the computer, and they tried to ignore the many ones about Danny's mother that they came across.
"Pathetic..."Brain commented as he ignored the pictures of the woman and resumed their search.
Tucker looked over his shoulder, hoping no monster comes his way. Sam and Jazz both tried their best to be of assistance in this situation.
All the while, they all tried to maintain a level of calm against the situation at hand. As well as hope for the best for Danny.
Meanwhile
Katie was still in her monster form and the device was still on her neck. She was still rampaging, but was thankfully just destroying VLAD'S property for the time being.
The ghost boy, however, smiled as he watched the monster girl continued to destroy more of his arch-enemy's belongings. Considering all Vlad did, this was of some enjoyment to him.
"Maybe I should let her destroy Vlad's stuff more..."He mused as pulled away.
"Stupid man! Bad taste in cars!..."Katie roared as she destroyed more of Vlad's fancy cars.
"Oooh...antique Ferrari AND a Packard one-twenty convertible resto-mod. That's gonna set Vlad back a pretty penny..."Danny said, almost wishing that he had a video camera to record all this, along with some popcorn.
He did nothing but smirk as he continued to watch hormonally-enraged monster trampled and crush them the rest of Vlad's personal property like they were bugs.
However, he recalled how destructive Katie's anger can make her and the fact that there were others nearby and that he had to limit casualties, preferably before she went overboard.
"Okay...I've met my quota of wasting his money. Now stop this before she expands further than Vlad's property..."The ghost boy thought before he had to bring some people to the hospital.
"Alright, Katie. I think that's enough temper tantrums for today..."Danny said and the monster girl glared at him.
"GET LOST!..."She yelled.
"Sorry, no can do..."Danny said as he thought fast.
Freezing the floor, the ghost boy punched the girl in the stomach, knocking her back into the wall. It was payback, but the girl pushed herself off with no effort.
Then she reached out for him.
"Stupid Phantom! Go Away!..." She shouted, pushing him.
"AHHH!..."Danny yelled as he crashed in and hit the wall, while Pinky and the Brain gawked at him.
"Danny!..."His friends and sister shouted as he tried to get up, but was a little wobbly at first.
The ghost boy hissed as he actually felt his bones crack a little as he stood back up. He winced before continuing.
"Please tell me that you guys found something? This is making me wanna just tell her I wanna break up just to stop this..."Danny said, in a daze, holding onto his head while his healing factor kicked in.
"Almost there! This is a slow and intricate process!..." Brain said.
"Can you guys be slow and intricate a little bit faster?..." Sam asked, irritating the mouse even more.
"If you can use your hacking skills to locate the files we need or at least have the technical know-how to deactivate that device, I'd be happy to bother listening to your master plan...if you even have one..."Brain said, being a smart mouth now.
Sam snarled at that. Before she could snap at the big-headed rodent, they heard loud footsteps and something heavy being lifted off the ground.
Katie lifted the nearest car and roared at them. She threw it, making it land near them. She roared, glaring daggers at everyone as she continued to break things.
"And with that, I'm hiding..."Tucker said as he ran to find a hiding spot, almost faster than humanly possible.
"I do not believe he will get far in life..." Brain muttered, not impressed.
"Probably not..."Sam said, shaking her head.
Before she could scold Tucker, Katie bellowed out, roaring even louder than before and even causing a cold chill to go up a few spine amongst them.
"Uh...it's probably best that we split too...before we're flatter than pancakes..."Jazz pointed out, since the area is getting more unsafe by the minute.
"You might have a point..."Sam said as they ran for cover.
"Youngsters, no patience at all. No matter, let us resume Pinky..."Brain said with an eye roll as he went back to the task at hand.
"Poit! But how do we do that, Brain?..." Pinky asked and then continued.
"Our new contract has expired already, so I don't see how we can proceed with this so long as we still have the other contract we need to get back to..."He said in his non-nonsensical way.
This earned him another bop on the head from his boss/partner/friend.
"Just keep looking!..."Brain ordered before looking at the screen.
"Now... where's those files?..." He thought as they kept looking.
Meanwhile
Katie was still in monster form and continued her rampage.
The she-beast stomped her foot and the force made some walls to come crashing down. However, she then noticed that roof of Vlad's manor was also coming down...and her monstrous mind then recalled who she had left there.
"Oh no! DANNY!..."The monster girl said in a panic as she ran there, no doubt trying to find him.
That gave Danny a moment to breathe. Pinky and the Brain, who saw this situation as a means of continuing without issue. Pinky, however, couldn't keep his little mouth shut.
"She really does seem to worry about you..."Pinky pointed out as the monster girl seemed desperate to find his human half.
"The one time I'm okay with that..."Danny said as he wiped his forehead. "But its till doesn't change what she's been putting me through, whether she's aware of it or not..."He muttered.
"Just keep her away from here while we look for those blueprints..."Brain said, not interested in that.
"On it..."Danny said as he flew to the monster while, while they all went back to their respective tasks.
With Danny
He looked around the surrounding area and had a relieved look on his face. After his friends and sister ran for safety, the ghost boy tried to figure out a solution.
Since no instant light-bulbs had lite up yet, he then flew towards his soon to be ex who was looking for him, human him that is.
"DANNY! Where's my Pookie Bear?! Where are you?!..."Monster Katie roared as it kept searching for human Danny, looking panicked as she checked literally under every stone and pebble.
"Here he is, in my hand!..."Danny said as he fired at Katie's hand.
However, his attack to distract her did nothing So, he flew back to his new small animal allies direction and asked for there two cents on what they should do.
"Please tell me that you guys know what to do?..."Danny asked.
"Good news, I managed to find and go over the blue prints. They were rather simple to figure out from a so-called "evil genius mastermind"..."Brain said with air-quotes, making a jab at Vlad's intellect.
"Please tell me that means you know how to turn her back to normal?..."Danny asked.
"She's stuck in her transformed stage as long as that device is on her. Thankfully, I now know how to remove that collar from her neck, but I have to get closer to it in order to do so..."Brain said.
"Why didn't you just say so? Time to board Air Phantom..."Danny said as he picked them both up.
However, they saw monster Katie movie around in a frantic way, tearing everything apart, not out of anger but trying to find something.
Her so-called beloved.
"DANNY! WHERE ARE YOU?! I WANT DANNY!..."Monster Katie roared, getting more panicked by the moment.
"Oh great, she's still looking for me..."Danny said. "I really hope you guys work great under pressure. Cause I don't see this happening as easy as you made it all sound..."He said, while Brain tried to think fast.
"We need to find some way to subdue her long enough for me to get close and remove the device without risk of being crushed or fall of..."Brain said, pondering a plan.
"Do you even have a plan?..." He asked.
"And cocktail weenies..."Pinky said, only to get looks from them. "What, I haven't eat since lunch and I'm peckish right now..."He whined.
"Bad time to admit this, but I don't actually have a plan...or cocktail weenies..." Danny said, looking a bit desperate right now.
"I am surprised, given what intellect you've shown us..." Brain snarked.
Danny frowned at him. He would have retorted, but now is not the time.
"Ideas?..."He asked, desperate as the monster girl kept tearing the place apart to look for his human half.
"We must find a weakness. Something to keep her distracted long enough for me to remove that infernal device..." Brain reasoned.
"Oh, chocolate!..." Pinky went.
"Chocolate?..." Danny asked, raising a brow.
"Yes. All girls love chocolate!..." Pinky went before Brain slapped him in the back of the head.
"Not that kind of weakness, Pinky..." Brain said.
As they tried to think of something, the monster girl was getting more desperate and unstable as she kept searching for the one she loves.
"DANNY!..." Monster Katie called out. "Where's Danny?!..." She shouted, sounding upset, panicky and maybe even worried too.
Danny smiled as it hit him. He realizes her weakness was something he could exploit.
"I know what her weakness is. It's me. Not Danny Phantom, me..." He said as he grabbed the two mice and carried them to safety. "Think about it... I live rent free in Katie's head as her prince on a white horse. If you can make some kind of hologram of me to lure her attention..."He began, sending a knowing look to the mice.
"She'll focus only on that, leaving herself open to you flanking her..." Brain said as he pondered. "A very simple plan, but effective..." He admitted.
"Zort, that oughta be fun. Poit, It'll be like a two for one Danny bargain sale!..."Pinky said in his usual eccentric way.
Before Danny could ponder what that meant, a nearby helicopter landed near them, which was thrown by a frantic Monster Katie.
"WHERE ARE YOU?!..."She yelled, getting more desperate to search and was even ripping some walls apart to look for him.
"She's getting worse. How long until you can make a hologram of human me?..."Danny asked.
"I'll need some time...how long can you keep her busy?..."Brain asked.
"As long as we need..."Danny said as slammed one fist into his mouth as he said so.
"Very brave sounding. Anyway, hurry...she seems to becoming more unstable..."Brain said as he tinkered as fast as his small lab mouse body could let it.
Danny then flew to deal with the monster girl he hoped to break up with soon.
With Monster Katie
The she-beast was at her wit's end, terrified that something bad had happened to her boyfriend.
She had left Danny on the roof and then it came crashing down. She tried to find him in the rubble but he wasn't there.
"Where is he?! Where's my adorable little pookie bear? Did he get lost? Or hurt somewhere? I need to find him and see that he's okay with my own eyes!..."She thought, terrified that something might have happened to him.
However, she had no idea he was closer than she thought as someone flew past her face and made her lose her focus.
"Hey Blondie! Don't ignore me, we're having a thing here..."Phantom said and Katie lost her temper again.
"I SAID GET LOST, BUB! I'M LOOKING FOR A REAL MAN!..."Katie snarled, as she then tried to crush him like a fly.
Monster Katie used both her hands to flatten him, but the ghost boy miraculously managed to survive by turning into a gaseous form and reforming after.
"Thank goodness for turning into mist. I sometimes forget I can do that..."He thought.
"Let's stop this before I have to remember another power that'll save me..."He said while the monstrous girl became more unhinged.
"SHUT UP, JERK! MY BOYFRIEND NEEDS ME! GO AWAY!..."She said, wanting to find whom he deemed her boyfriend.
"Uh...about that boyfriend of yours...I think I saw him go somewhere over there..."Danny lied.
Monster Katie briefly stopped her attack and turned to face Phantom. She then grabbed the ghost boy, but he remained unafraid.
"Hey, easy on the suit, You have no idea how hard it is to get rid of wrinkles!..."He complained, but she ignored him.
"WHERE IS DANNY?! IS HE OKAY?! HE'S NOT HURT IS HE?! DID YOU DO SOMETHING TO HIM?! IF YOU DID, YOU'RE DEAD MEAT, YOU HEAR ME?!..."She roared as she shook him.
Danny came up with a lie quick, even even threw up his arms in a surrendering and pleading for his innocents kind of manner, just to calm her down.
"Uh...in that order...he went that a way..."Danny lied as he pointed behind him. "I think he's okay and no, I didn't do anything since I'm the GOOD guy and...you do realize I'm a ghost right, threatening to end my life is a little too late..."He with a shrug.
"I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT! I WANT MY POOKIE BEAR RIGHT NOW OR ELSE!..."Monster Katie said before tossing him aside.
"HEY!..."Danny said after being man-handled.
"DANNY!..."Monster Katie said as she went in that direction, ignoring him and running as fast as her bulky form allows.
The ghost boy shook his head in irritation.
"Obsessed with Danny Fenton, couldn't care less about Danny Phantom...she really is the anti-Paulina. Irony..."Danny said as he became invisible and flew fast.
He then follow right behind the giant teenage emotional behemoth, careful not to make a sound to alert her. He then went to the lab, where Pinky and The Brain were setting up a projector of some kind.
"Ah, Phantom. I see that your lady friend still cannot make connections between the two Danny's in her life..."Brain said, deadpan as possible.
"Forget about that! How's that hologram?!..." Danny shouted, as the tiny mouse put in the finishing touches to his latest invention.
"It is done. Behold!..." Brain said as he pushed the button.
A hologram of Danny Fenton appeared, standing around and smiling.
"Wow...down the the smallest detail..."Danny commented as he examined it, while Bran looked smug.
"Well, I AM a genius. I just took hologram projectors this Vlad already had and reprogrammed them to project you..."Brain said as they made the hologram wave.
Monster Katie, seeing this hologram, stopped her rampage and smiled happily.
"Danny!..." She said, admiring him.
"Good... she seems to believe this is real. Come, Pinky!..." Brain said as they carried the projector and ran off.
"Danny?!..." She went, following but not realizing this was not the real thing.
The mice moved quickly and the real Danny saw that it was working.
"Is my hair really like that? I should comb more often..."He thought, as they waited for the plan to work.
The hologram of Danny was now in the middle of the friendly greeting and Monster Katie found him and seemed overjoyed.
"You're okay. What a relief!..."The she-beast said as she reached to grab, kiss and cuddle him again.
However, as she tried to pick him up, she noticed that he wasn't in her hand.
"Huh? WHAT?!..."Monster Katie said as she tried again and it was the same result.
She then got angry and stood back up.
"Where Danny?!..." Monster Katie went, looking unhinged again.
"Here I am!..." Danny went, flying in and sucker punching her.
As the monster fell to the floor, and got angrier at the sight of him.
"Not you! Other Danny! Better Danny! Cuter Danny!..." She shouted, fire starting to come out of her mouth now.
"How can she not see they have the same face..." Brain muttered, not understanding how oblivious she can be.
"Maybe she just has a thing for guys with dark hair..."Pinky suggested.
"Be that as it may, we got work to do..."Brain said, the two getting to work on detaching the device.
Katie grabbed Danny, holding him like a bottle in her grip.
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY BOYFRIEND?!..."Monster Katie roared, looking furious. "IF YOU LAID ONE HAND ON HIM, I'LL TEST TO SEE IF YOU CAN KILL A GHOST!..."The she-beast said, looking ready to tear him apart.
"Geez, she's into me and also threatening to destroy me at the same time...it's Valerie all over again..."Danny thought as he he tried to form a plan.
"You know... he might've just ditched you..."He said, but soon realized that might have been a mistake.
Monster Katie, however, grew angrier.
She then transformed into a ten feet taller, more deranged looking monster with fiery hair, blood red eyes, razor sharp fangs, draconic wings and claws that were ready to tear him limb from limb.
"GIVE ME BACK MY DANNY RIGHT NOW!..."She shouted, looking truly ready to destroy him right now.
Danny, despite no longer having that almost pathological fear of her, knew that it was best to do something fast before his well-being became a concern.
"Uh, Brain...Any time now..."Danny called as he tried to avoid her attacks.
"As I said, slow and intricate!..." Brain shouted as he was now on the device and tinkering with it.
"Like Sam asked... slow and intricate faster!..." He shouted as he was getting tired out from dodging and deflecting her attacks.
Thankfully, the little lab mouse managed to hurry up and grinned as he found what he was looking for.
"Now!..."Brain said as he now unlocked it.
"Hey, what's going o-..."Monster Katie was cut off as she felt her neck loosen as Brain managed to finally detach the device.
"YES!..."Danny shouted, relieved as the plan worked.
"Ha, simple!..." Brain bragged as Danny grabbed him and Pinky.
They soon went to the ground and saw what was happening.
The device was removed and Katie was slowly turning back to her human form, but for some reason, her body is still green with black hair. The aftershock from the device coming off sent Danny back and inadvertently turned him back to his human form.
However, he wasn't focusing on that, he was now on the fact that Katie was still down and a different color.
"What's happening?..."Danny asked.
Brain checked his calculations and panicked.
"Uh...good news and bad news..."Brain said, looking uneasy about something.
"What's the GOOD news?..."Danny asked.
"We managed to remove the device from her, so that idiot football fanatic can't use it to enslave her anymore..."Brain said.
"What's the BAD news?..."He asked as he dreaded the news.
"Well, the sudden changing back to human form was too sudden and her mutation shows because she hasn't mentally readjusted..."Brain explained.
"I'm a C student who is barely passing science. In English please!..."Danny said, worried about his own health right now.
"Well, the device is gone but she's had it for quite a while and may still have some after effects left..."Brain explained.
"Such as?..."Danny asked, not liking the sound of that.
"A...mood..."Brain said, not sure how else to phrase that.
"What does that mean?..."Danny asked, not getting it.
"To say it in the most blunt way possible...the device made her out of control in her mutated form...while it's off now and she's reverted to her human form, she is still...how should I put this...groggy...so she'll...pretty much be...out of control...in her regular form...for a while..."He said.
"Say what now?!..."Danny asked, not liking the sound of that.
Just then, Katie got up, groaning and hissing in pain.
"Man, what happened? I feel like I got hit by a truck..."She said as her eyes were still shut tight.
"That's one way to put it..." Danny joked, but regretted it.
Her eyes landed on Danny and smiled. Danny soon realized he was in his human form and cursed his luck.
"Oh man, I didn't notice..."He said.
To his surprise, his so-called girlfriend had some strange look in her eye as she approached him.
"This will end poorly..." Brain whispered to Danny.
"Why?..."He asked and he soon got his answer.
The lovesick looking Katie got up and seemed even more off than before, which Danny did not like one bit. Even more when she started talking again.
"There you are...Danny...I missed my little pookie wookie cutie wootie bear so much!~..."Katie said in a daze, eyes clouded with lust.
Danny realized what was happening and groaned.
"Oh man, Vlad's device must have made her even loopier! She's acting even more lovesick than before!..."Danny thought, exasperated as the blonde girl sighed happily.
"You came for me! I knew you loved me!..."She said as she ran to him with arms out.
"NOT AGAIN!..."Danny said as he ran and managed to avoid her grasp, while Katie was hugging the air now.
However, she didn't seem to notice as she kept trying to hug him.
"Come back, Silly willy!..." She gushed as she followed him in a circle.
"Do something! Preferably to her and now!..."Danny insisted as he kept trying to keep away from Katie.
Brain did some more calculations and momentarily looked surprised by something.
"More good news and bad news. The good news is that it's temporary and shouldn't last too long...the bad news is...I have no idea of knowing how long it WILL last..."Brain admitted.
"Perfect..."Danny said sarcastically as Katie finally grabbed him by the shoulders and tried to plant a big one on his lips, but Danny turned his head in time, not that she noticed.
"Gotcha!..." She went as she peppered his face with kisses, while the boy tried to push her off.
He noticed her skin was slowly changing back to its regular hue, along with her hair, meaning it was happening, but too slowly. He manged to pull himself out and run, but she was still too gone to even notice his distress, more so than usual.
"Stop playing hard to get, Sweetums and come and give your future wife a big kiss!..."Katie said, following him.
Danny responded by running away.
Not out of fear, but because of displeasure and also knowing that Katie is in no condition to listen to anything but her own hormones right now.
"If she stays this way for a day... I'm SO putting you both in a snake cage!..." Danny shouted, as he kept running from his stalker.
Pinky and the Brain witness this chance and had differing opinions with what they witness. Pinky, being his usual spacey self, thought it was romantic while Brain rolled their eyes.
"Aw, isn't young love grand?..."Pinky said as he clasp his hands together, clueless to what was really going on.
"Like a truck running you over..."Brain said, not caring. "Well, the girl isn't a monster anymore and I'm sure that mutant ghost boy can handle her now. Let's go to back to the lab and see if we can prepare for tomorrow night..."Brain said, ready to leave.
"Why, Brain?. What are we gonna do tomorrow night?..."Pinky asked, not recognizing how often he asks that.
Before Brain could give his typical response, someone stepped in.
"Yeah, exactly what do you two plan on doing tomorrow night? Or right now?..."Was heard, and it sounded angry.
The two mice turned and saw Sam, Tucker and Jazz glaring down at them, arms crossed and refused to let them go.
"Where did you three come from? I thought you ran?!..."Brain asked, surprised to see them again.
"We just hid for cover since we didn't want to turn into pancakes from Katie's feet but we didn't leave in case Danny needed us..."Jazz said.
"Speaking of which, while I am glad that Katie is no longer Queen Kong...you two STILL have to help fix her..."Sam said, glaring down at the lab mice
Brain wanted to leave but the sight of humans blocking him changed his mind.
"Uh, what I mean is... we should aid our... accomplice...before anything else happens..."He said unconvincingly.
