Hello and thank you for waiting for chapter 3. For some context any quotes that look like :this: mean that a dragon is talking, and quotes that look like "this" means that a human is talking and when you see italicized words like "this" means a character is thinking to themselves.
When Toothless and Bork approached the sound they couldn't believe what they were seeing, a new dragon that Berk had never seen before! She looked very similar to toothless, but the big difference between her and toothless was that she was completely white, had smoother scales, and a different shaped tail fin.
"Oh my gods" is all Bork could say when he saw this dragon.
When the new dragon woke up, it attempted to fire a plasma shot at Bork, but right before it fired it yelped in pain, and fell back on the ground. Toothless decided to talk to this new dragon so they could calm her down and convince her they were not a threat, so they could give her the proper medical aid she obviously needed.
:Excuse me ma'am, we mean no harm to you. We heard you moaning in pain in the forest and followed the sound to you. We just want to help.:
:If you mean no harm, why is that human with you: she replied skeptically.
:That human is one of my closest friends.: toothless said.
:Oh really if that's true, then why did all the humans i've encounter do this to me!:
At that moment the light fury lifted her wings to reveal, the mangled corpses of Borks entire family, fresh cuts all over her body from human weapons, and a dragon trap on one of her legs most likely causing excruciating amounts of pain. Toothless couldn't say a single word after she revealed her wounds to him. The light fury was about to speak again when she noticed the human. But when she observed him, instead of the hatred or the sinister smile she expected from his face, she saw the face of someone who looked like they were about to cry. "Why is this human so upset seeing my scars, shouldn't he be happy that i'm an easy target to kill!?" She thought to herself.
:The human, why is he upset?:
Toothless, now noticing, put one of his wings round Bork to help keep him calm, all bork said was "thanks Toothless" before he continued talking.
:He's sad because of the injuries that have been inflicted upon you. Bork always felt upset when we rescued dragons that were beaten and abused from hunters.:
:Wait, so that human, attacks other humans, to rescue dragons, why would he do that.:
:It's not just him. There is an entire village of humans and dragons that live together in peace, willing to attack other humans in the name of justice:
When she heard this, it filled her with disbelief.
:How do I know you're not lying?:
:If you want the proof, let my friend here approach you. I promise he won't hurt you.:
The light fury paused for a second, she was very slim on options, and trusting this dragon and human seemed to be her only option right now.
:Fine! I will do it, but on one condition, your friend needs to be disarmed.:
:It's a deal!: Toothless exclaimed.
When Toothless was done talking to the dragon, he told Bork to remove his weapons by gestures and pointing. After bork removed his weapons, Toothless let him approach the new, and injured, dragon.
"Hi there, I'm not going to hurt you." Bork said in a calm and gentle voice.
The light fury watched as this human approached, closer and closer, until he was standing right in front of her. "This is crazy" she thought to herself "I'm a light fury! Why am I trusting this human and Night Fury i've never met before."
At that moment Bork put his hand out in front of the Light Fury, he looked away and said,
"I know you have had a bad encounter with humans, but can you trust me to heal those wounds of yours, and bring you back to full health?"
The Light Fury was hesitant at first, but from the sincere tone in his voice, and the fact he is showing no signs of being a threat, she accepted his trust and touched his hand with her snout. The human looked back at her and had a very kind smile, he responded to her by saying "thank you". At this point the Light Furys emotions were starting to overwhelm her, she's never been treated this kindly by a human before, should she be happy, should she cry, her emotions and the pain of her wounds were starting to get the better of her. She kept thinking these thoughts when the human started talking again.
"Oh this is bad, really bad," Bork said after examining her wounds. "I don't know how much Toothless told you about our village Berk, but if you want to fully recover we'll need to take you there and find a place for you in the village to stay, these wounds are something I can't heal here, are you ok with me calling other humans here to help you recover safely?"
The Light Fury was conflicted, "what if these humans there aren't as nice as this one," she thought to herself. After some contemplating, she knew she needed the help, "if this human is willing to help me recover from my wounds then I should be willing to accept more help."
The light fury nodded to Bork, he looked very pleased by her response right before it fell back into a serious looking expression.
"Toothless! Go get Astrid and Hiccup! And tell them to bring bandages and a stretcher!" Bork shouted
Toothless ran as quickly as he could back into the forest leaving the Light Fury and Bork alone.
"Hey, is it ok if I call your species a Light Fury?" the human asked.
The Light Fury chuckled a little bit and nodded yes, "he didn't even realize he got my species name correct."
"That's nice to hear, thank you." Bork said
"If you are ok with it, I'm going to remove that trap that's on your leg. It will most likely hurt a-lot when I do, are you okay with me proceeding with removing it."
The Light Fury was expecting that question and nodded again to Bork.
"Ok prepare yourself this is going to hurt, 1… 2… 3…"
Bork quickly opened the jaws of the Dragon Trap, and moved the Light Furys leg out of the way. When her leg was released it was the most painful thing she's ever experienced, causing the Light Fury wail out in pain. Bork knew she was probably going to scream from the pain, but he didn't expect the light fury to have the expression of someone that was on the verge of an emotional breakdown. After the Light Fury found a suitable position to sit down, Bork approached her and gave her a hug.
"It's ok, I'm here to help you" he said while hugging her.
That was the breaking point for the Light Fury, when bork hugged her and showed that extra amount of compassion, her emotions got the better of her and she started to cry.
Bork noticed this, but didn't say anything. He knew hugging her was what she needed now, nothing else.
After the Light fury calmed down and regained her composure, Bork sat with her, trying to keep her at ease with conversation.
"Trust me, the people of Berk are some of the nicest people you will meet."
"That also brings up the question, where would we have you stay? We have many people around Berk that help heal injured dragons, but with your previous experiences with humans, I'm guessing you want to be left alone."
The Light Fury never though about that, where would she stay? This human is the nicest, and most compassionate person she's ever met. Should she stay at his home? "I guess it's worth asking" she thought to herself.
The Light Fury bumped Bork with her sout to get his attention.
"What is it?"
She bumped him again.
"What? Was it something I was talking about"
She nodded to confirm his suspicions.
"Oh, was it about where we would have you recover?"
She nodded again.
"Oh, what about it? I'm guessing if it's crowded or not?"
She shook her head this time.
"No? Do you have an idea where you want to stay?"
She nodded again.
"Oh really, where?"
The Light Fury bumped bork with her snout trying to get the message across.
"Why'd you bump me agai-, wait a second, do you want to stay with me!" Bork exclaimed.
She nodded again, smiling this time.
"Oh, wow, I guess that solves one problem."
The light fury was happy knowing she would be with this friendly human more often.
Bork was about to start talking again when he heard the loud roar of a night fury.
"That must be toothless returning with Hiccup and Astrid, don't worry they are also some of the nicest humans you will ever meet."
The light fury was pleased to hear that, but she still wasn't completely comfortable around humans.
Hiccup was the first one to arrive "Bork! We arrived as fast as we coud with medical supplies when Toothless relayed the-"
"Woah, a, a."
"Light Fury" Bork said
"Yeah, that's a good name." Hiccup said, now a little shocked to discover a whole new dragon species.
"Well if you going to stand there, can you at least grab me those bandages you brought" bork said with a little urgency.
"Sure thing, how bad is the wound? Astrid and Stormfly are grabbing a stretcher just in case."
"Bad enough she can't stand without being in pain."
The light fury was overhearing the whole conversation when bork approached with a roll of bandages. She knew those bandages were most likely meant to help stop the bleeding on her wounds, so she did not protest to Bork's care.
"Hey, I know your leg hurts a lot right now, but I need to know if you need some dragons to help carry you back to our village."
The light nodded yes, her leg was in excruciating pain, and she couldn't even think about how painful it would be trying to fly in the condition she was in.
"She will definitely need a stretcher Hiccup, good call on telling Astrid to get it."
"Thanks, now we need to know where she's going to stay, the island is already crowded as it is."
"Hiccup if you're ok with it, can tend to her wounds at my home?"
"Sure thing, if I may ask why did you volunteer so quickly to take care of her"
"She wanted me to."
Hiccup was about to continue the conversation, but the squawk from a deadly nadder grabbed his attention.
"Hiccup I got the stre- '' Astrid was also at a loss of words when she saw the light fury.
"That's great Astrid, bring it down over here next to the light fury. We're carrying her to Bork's house, he volunteered to nurse her back to health."
Toothless noticed the light fury was getting a little nervous seeing the humans, and monstrous-nightmare-sized stretcher, he decided to talk to her to help calm her nerves.
:Hey, I forgot to ask you what your name was before I ran off." toothless said grabbing the Light Furys attention.
:Oh, it's Luna: She said.
:Luna, that's a beautiful name:
:Thank you:
After Astrid and Stormfly safely landed the stretcher, Hiccup, Bork, and Astrid helped Luna onto the stretcher while causing the least amount of pain to her leg. Stormfly and Toothless were both needed to help Luna get to Bork's house.
When Luna saw Berk for the first time she thought she was dreaming, humans and dragons living together happily, it was almost unbelievable.
"See, what did I tell you?" Bork said while riding with Hiccup and Toothless.
She wasn't paying attention to what Bork said, all Luna could do is look and see this entire village full of dragons peacefully walk amongst humans. But then she noticed a lot of the dragons and humans staring at her, she started getting nervous again and decided to ask Toothless why they were all staring.
:Hey Toothless, why are they all staring at me:
:Well you see, you're the only light fury this village has ever seen.:
Luna understood now why she was becoming the center of attention.
:I see, is that why Bork had to guess my name?:
:Exactly! and speaking of Bork, were approaching his house now.:
Luna exhaled a sigh of relief.
