So, bet you never expected to hear from me again, let alone ever get updates on this now basically dead story, did ya? To be honest, neither did I. For those that are curious, I've been spending the last several years of my life growing as a person, trying new things, experiencing new things. And while I did enjoy my time on fanfiction, like all things, everything that starts must also at some point end. But my time on here spent in vain it was not. Because of fanfiction, I now have entire story ideas in my head that I hope to see completely written down and explored one day. A complete arc and story thread that spans multiple books that would not exist if not for this site and the Spyro fanfics that I started reading a decade ago. Thus, to pay tribute to all the inspiration that this site and the authors of said fanfics have given me, I am here today to write out two important moments/chapters that still remain in my head of the 3rd and final Mergence book. The first part you will recieve now. The 2nd will take a little while to craft. And yes, that part does contain the big reveals, climax, conclusion, etc. But for now, onto "Fall of the Chronicler".

Quick note: Would recommend reading book 2 before reading this. Though I don't believe there is anything there that would be neccessarily mandatory in order to understand these parts, every bit of information helps in my personal opinion.

Mergence: Cosmosian War - Fall of The Chronicler

John and Ignitus gazed over the water pool, watching as Haze and the others did their best to ward off the foreign dragons.

"This is escalating faster than I ever could've imagined", John admitted.

A loud thud suddenly emenated from the chamber doors, with more following suit after, prompting both dragon and human to shift their focus.

"Ignitus?!" John questioned in concern.

The new Chronicler stepped forward, watching as dust fell from the chamber doors, it struggling to stay closed. "They've somehow entered the etherial plain..."

The banging stopped, giving a few brief moments of silence. John stepped away from the pool, moving ever so slightly closer to Ignitus while the dragon got into a defensive stance. After another moment the doors burst open slamming against the walls the were fiited to as multiple dragons started flooding the room and began firing elemental shots.

Ignitus responded by releasing his own blue flame at the dragons, as John shot out his own flames from his hands. Knocking out the immediate close ones as well as blocking the enemy fire.

"Ignitus, behind you!" John warned, throwing a blast of fire at two dragons behind him, forcing them away.

Right as he had done that, a foot landed across the top of his head, putting him on his knees. He fired a blast upwards in retaliation, only to be met with a blast at his side, sending him flying across the room. More headed his direction, but before they could reach, they were hit with a blue flame, sending them elsewhere.

"John, get out of here! Warn Spyro and the others!" Ignitus shouted, trying to ward off those near him.

As John leaned forward to protest, he spotted more and more dragons enter and about to enter through the chamber doors. Taking a brief moment, he collected himself before standing back up. Whoever this adversary was, they were much more intelligent than originally credited for. This was no longer a simple fight between two dragons as he had thought. The invasion of Avalar, and now the infiltration of the Chroniclers domain. This had now turned into an all out war.

He raised his right arm, putting fingers on the eye patch that lay over his right eye. "Ignitus, I will be back, count on it. As for the rest of you, tell your master that this war is still far from over."

Lifting and flipping the patch upwards, his right eye showed the relfection of a different location, one covered in soft light and crystal. Not moving an inch, the view in his left eye, the room, the chronicler, the other dragons, started to dissolve until it had become pitch black. It was then that he proceeded to slowly open his left eye. It now sharing the same view as his right. A softly lit closed off room, with him encased in crystal. For a moment the black and red dragon closed his eyes, concentrating on the energy which he hadn't used in decades. As it began to bubble, sounds of cracking began to emerge from his confinement. Energy growing hotter, his eyes shot open, creating a shockwave, shattering the crystal prison.

He dropped to the floor, laying there for a few moments, and took in his first breaths of air in God knew how many years. Energy and strength returning to his body, he slowly rose to all fours, and headed to the staircase in front of him. As he did, he spotted the string attached to the cover that blocked the rest of the way, and pulled down on it. Feeling its resistence, the dragon let go and watched as the cover slid forwards, allowing what ever light there was to pierce through. He continued onwards and out, finding himself out on what appeared to be an old graveyard. Though under what appeared to be a darkened sky, the names etched onto the stones remained fairly visble. After looking around for a quick minute, he spotted one in particular. One which read: Pyro. First Fire Guardian. Leader, friend, and mentor.

John made his way over, stepping to the side of the burial mound before placing a paw softly on the top of the stone. "Rest well old friend. And thank you for everything."

Veering away, the fire dragon looked down the hill he was on, past the forest and towards the smoke that was rising off the horizon. Taking off into a sprint, he continued until he reached the edge of a small cliff and leapt, soaring through the sky before spreading his wings a moment later.

"Everyone, hold on."

So, regretfully, that's all there is to this chapter/scene. That said, I've always found the concept of it to be fairly cool. As for a bit of context in terms of when this scene takes place, this scene is meant to take place after Haze, Spyro and friends return to Avalar where foreign looking dragons await them and seek to combat them. Reason being is that in the second book, Reaper finds the life gem of the "Original" from the human world, and brings it back to Avalar to revive them. And the foreign dragons look to aid Reaper as the gem itself started to awaken them after it was brought back, and they just don't want to feel imprisoned anymore.

As for the graveyard scene and Pyro, I had originally concieved Pyro as the very first fire guardian back when thinking more about John Overfangs back story, and even started developing a mini story for him. More of which will be explained in the final part, as well as everything else.
