Hades
Hibari Kyoya was a demon the residents of Japan had decided long ago. He was a demon and no one, and they really did mean it when they said no one would touch Namimori with a ten foot pole.
Namimori was under the protection of a monster who wore the face of a child. Several old hags were sure he could change shape as he saw fit, so why he chose the figure of a child no one was really sure.
It was an accepted fact that Hibari Kyoya was a monster from the deepest pits of hell. And yet…
It was also an accepted fact that he was their protector.
When Giotto was nine years old he saw Alaudi for the first time.
He was but a boy at the time, smaller than even Giotto but he was told Alaudi was older. They looked alike as well but Alaudi was all frowns and stiff expressions while Giotto was smiles and shy whispers.
Alaudi didn't speak much but that didn't matter to him. He could speak for both of them. The older boy never smiled or responded to his questions, but he didn't stop him off. Giotto counted that as a win.
He wondered what made Alaudi happy. Because one time he had seen him smile, a quick small one, but a real smile. Giotto had been spying at the time, practicing his stealth of course, when he saw Alaudi walk out of a shed.
The smile was an odd thing.
Giotto never saw him smile like that again.
The leader of the disciplinary committee scared Tsuna.
His mother always told him that Hibari Kyoya was such a sweet boy and that he would protect him.
"Why?" He remembered asking.
His mother had only turned to give him that wide naive smile she always had. "Because he protects Namimori!"
She hadn't lied when she said that. He did protect Namimori. The Demon boy, as he heard the elders call him, often patrolled the streets and beat up any local Yakuza that got in the way. He allowed them to operate but Tsuna wasn't sure under what conditions. His mother and him have stumbled upon the evidence of their punishments though. His mother would shake her head and smile as she tugged Tsuna away from them. "Don't mind them," she would whisper. "they'll learn."
Some did, the ones that didn't would soon enough.
Tsuna tried very hard to be good so he would be one of those boys that were disciplined by the older boy. Though he often failed being late to school, the punishments weren't very severe. At least Hibari would only glare and growl at him to go to class. Tsuna had seen several of his classmates come in late with large bruises on their faces and ice packs on their heads.
So yeah, Tsunayoshi Sawada was scared of Hibari Kyoya. But not nearly as scared as he could be. After all, Hibari Kyoya protected Namimori and all her residents.
Hades did his best to ignore his eldest living son.
It was for the best, the boy was a menace that had been cursed upon him. A curse born from a single day of weakness.
The boy was always a strange child, with his large eyes and innocent expression. His children were always born looking a tad fierce but this one came out wrong. Too innocent, too shy.
Someone must have been listening when he thought those forsaken words for one day his sweet little demigod son turned into a monster in human skin. His once innocent expression turned dark and frightening. His child had changed at some point. Hades couldn't say when, he didn't pay attention to the mortal world. Not even to check on the few children he had.
The boy had grown at some point, light hair and eyes. He sent many to his realm. Those he saw personally just to see what his son was up to.
He chuckled at the colorful way the dead described him.
A Demon? His child?
Perhaps. It was his son after all.
Hades should have paid attention his children. He should have been better than his brothers and gave them more love. But was it really his fault that his children decided to go and fight a war?
It was hard day. It was a horrible day actually. Maria was gone. She was dead and she would never come back. Because Death was final and he couldn't bring her back even though this was his domain-
He had to breathe. Hades couldn't abuse his power. He couldn't destroy the natural order for one women. He did save his last children, he had saved them and put them away yet-
Oh.
Oh he had made a mistake.
Because he had a child still out there, he couldn't feel his soul here so that must mean of course he was still alive.
Because no one could kill a demon. His son didn't count, that's why he wasn't dead.
Hades laughed. He laughed and laughed and laughed harder.
He was crying but he still laughed. Because somewhere along the way his son was cursed and turned into something that wasn't a threat anymore.
He could never be the child of the prophecy.
"Oh little godling…" he sang "hush little godling.."
Nico was scared and so sad. All he wanted right now was his sister. Alive and right here with him and definitely not dead.
No, because she wasn't dead. She couldn't be dead. Nico refused to admit that maybe his sister had abandoned him but she couldn't be dead. It didn't matter if he felt her die somewhere deep in his chest.
Nico couldn't allow the thought of his sister dying to get to him anymore. Because she wasn't dead.
She was alive and probably was with those stupid hunters. Bianca had abandoned him but she wasn't gone. It didn't matter what stupid Percy Jackson said. He sniffed and tried to stop crying.
She wasn't gone.
"Don't you want her back?" The stupid ghost next to him jabbered. "You want her to be alive?"
"She's not dead." He huffed. Because I was so sure of it. Bianca was alive and breathing and she very much was not dead.
"When will you get it master?" The ghost tittered. "You can feel it can't you? You're the ghost king." He said this last part with a seductive whisper into his ear.
It made Nico uncomfortable. If Bianca was here…
"Leave."
Nico jumped from his spot in the forest and turned quickly. He had nothing to defend himself, Nico realized suddenly, and he was alone.
"Ghost. Leave." It was a boy, perhaps a year or so older than him. They looked alike, it was somewhat comforting.
"Master!" The ghost screamed scared. Except he wasn't looking at Nico, he was looking at the boy.
The boy stepped forward; he hadn't even moved his hands but the ghost was gone.
"Who are you? Leave me alone!" Nico screamed. He regretted leaving camp more than ever.
The boy stepped more into the light. At second glance they didn't look as much alike, this boy was obviously Asian and they had different skin tones. But something about his face just reminded him of Bianca.
"Our Father." The boy said. He was looking at him with a disturbed look. Nico waited but he never continued.
"Our father?" He whispered.
"Hades."
"I-"
"Be quiet Hibird. It's time for bed."
Nico huffed and folded his arms. "I'm not a bird."
"Bird come."
"I'm not a bird!"
The boy glared at him. "My name's Nico." Nico said, his voice wavering.
The boy never responded. Nico didn't want to go with him, and wasn't even sure if he could trust him. But he said they had the same father, and he looked so much like Bianca it hurt.
The boy grabbed him and threw him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. "Hibari Kyoya."
"Huh?" Nico responded dumbly. He supposed that was his name. He was so surprised by this turn of events he almost forgot how sad and scared he was.
"Name." He responded shortly.
Nico relaxed in the boy's grip. Though he supposed they were brothers now.
He just wanted his sister back. Nico wanted to go home.
