Chapter 2: When You're Mad
Later, the gang made their way around playing with the Treesweet that fell on Mr. Thicknose' head. But Chomper was feeling upset.
"I don't even understand why Mr. Thicknose even bother to talk to us." He said. "We just seem to upset him."
"What do you mean we?" Cera asked.
"Well, I don't know."
"Well how would you feel if somebody dropped a big old Treesweet on your head?"
"Me no know." Said Petrie.
Until, he tripped and the Treesweet fell on top of him.
"Ow. Me do now."
Littlefoot then passed the Treesweet to Chomper but he was still upset.
"Come on Chomper." Said Littlefoot. "Don't worry about it right now and pass the Treesweet."
"Littlefoot's right." Said Ruby. "Because when you forget what you're sad about, then you won't feel sad because you forgot what you're sad about."
"Well, okay." Chomper said as he kicked it over.
And by then, the gang went on playing their game. Except for Ducky who was sitting near the edge of a pong looking at herself. Just as Cera showed up.
"What's wrong with you?" She asked.
"I do not know. I do not. No no no. But I do feel something. Inside of me."
Cera gasped. "Do you think...maybe you're sick?"
"I feel like there is something bubbling inside of me like the fire river in the mountain that blows its top."
"Oh that." Cera said releaved. "You're not sick."
"Oh I am glad I am not sick. But then, what is wrong with me?"
"Nothing. You're just mad."
"Well what do you know. I am mad. But...what am I mad at?"
"What do you think?"
All of them turned back to the others and just in time to see Spike eat the Treesweet.
"Spike." Said Littlefoot.
"Me go get another one." Said Petrie.
"I know alright." Said Ducky. "I am mad at Spike. So what do I do now?"
"You came to the right place. If there's one thing us Three-horns know about, it's being mad."
Later, Spike was off on a walk by himself. As he did, he soon walked to a bush from some lunch.
But, just as he was about to take a bite,
BONK!
Spike had bumped into something. The moment he recovered, he peaked through the bush to see what it was and when he did, he gasped. It was another Spike-tail about his cold-time age. And she shook her head and until, she saw him.
"Hiya."
Spike walked out of the bush to see her. When he did, a Tree-star fell in front of them. He tried to eat it, but the other Spike-tail beat him to it.
Just then, another Spike-tail, who had to be her mother, walked over to her.
"Now remember Tippy. Bolt your food. That way you can eat more." She said.
"Look Mama. Friend." Tippy said pointing at Spike.
"Why hello there. I didn't know there were any Spike-tails around here. How nice. We just arrived ourselves. You and your family must come over and see us."
And then, Spike got up and walked away.
"Friend!" Tippy shouted.
"Yes. He seemed very sweet."
Meanwhile, Cera was teaching Ducky how to express her mad feelings. Right now Ducky was showing her angry face.
"That's not too bad." She said. "Only make your mouth go down more in size."
Ducky then tried to get her mouth to go down more. But it couldn't go down more than it was.
"It does not go down any farther." She said.
"Look." Said Cera. "If you're gonna feel mad, you've gotta look mad and act mad."
"But I do not know how."
Cera sighed. "I can see we have to start at the beginning."
(Song start)
Cera: When your tummy feels all sticky and hot. Like it's filled with bubbly goo. And those fuzzy, buzzy thing inside your head, make you sad and blue. Don't go around pretending that there's nothing wrong with you. When you feel that prickily ickily thing, do what the Three-horns do.
Ducky: What do you do?
Cera: We get ma ma ma ma ma MAD!
Ducky: How do you do that?
Cera: First make your face all scriny and scary. Don't raise up your head. Hold your brath, until you're blue. And make your eyes turn red. Scrintch your face up, Winkle your beak. Like you just smelled something bad. Turn your smily face upside down. That the way you look, when you're mad.
Ducky: Okay.
Cera: Now put your hands on your hips. Shoulders back. Stomp your feet in the dirt. Kick some rocks. But not too hard.
Ducky: Cause that can really hurt.
Cera: Pretend that you're a bad Sharptooth.
Ducky: I could pretend I am your dad.
Cera: Grumble and mumble and grow real loud. That's the way you sound, when you're mad.
Both: When there's mad inside you, or sad inside you, you've got to let what's inside out.
Cera: Give a big old snort! And stamp your feet! Stick up your beak and shout! Say no!
Ducky: No!
Cera: Say gurr!
Ducky: Gurr!
Cera: Say no!
Ducky: NO!
Cera: Gurr!
Ducky: GURR!
Cera: Now you're angry! And once you've get mad, you've got to stay mad! Don't give an inch!
Ducky: But what if I start to feel better?
Cera: NO! You hold your grodge until they grovle!"
Ducky: Til they what?
Cera: Grovle!
Ducky: Oh alright then. But I do not know how,
Cera: And when you're really really really really mad. And you've got to let off steam. Take a deep brath. Throw back your head. Stand on your toes and, SCREEM!
And Cera was loud enough for Topps to hear here.
Topps: Oh she's mad at somebody.
(Song end)
"See?" Cera asked.
"I did not know being mad was such hard work." Said Ducky. "But I'll try."
Authors note:
Man it's been a long time sense I've last worked on this series. But now I'm back. Because I want to go all the way to the end. And once we're far enough, I have an idea for a spin-off story for Of Leaf-eaters and Sharpteeth.
