Author's Note (November 2022)
Hi, all! So, obviously it's been a few years since I first posted this story, but I wanted to give a quick update for everyone regarding what I'm going to be doing with it going forward. This story was originally meant to be a rebuild/remake of my earlier Godzilla/Pacific Rim crossover, King of the Monsters, which was published all the way back in 2013. However, it stalled during the writing process, and I found myself unsure of where to take this story after its first chapter, so I was forced to leave it unfinished for quite a while.
Now, however, I've finally had inspiration for this concept again, and I've decided how I'm going to do this. I've made some edits to the first chapter, and this story – now retitled Jaeger von Jaegers (2017) – is now simply a one-shot prequel to King of the Monsters, set in the same timeline as that fic, that tells the story of how Godzilla first appeared in the modern world and joined the Kaiju War in this AU.
However, I have also started working on a new version of Jaeger von Jaegers, titled Jaeger von Jaegers (2023), a full-length fic that will serve as a full rebuild of KOTM, set in a separate (albeit similar) AU. That new version will begin posting in January 2023, and I can't wait to see what you all think of it!
