Chapter 16: Battle of the Winds

Revali

We all watched in shock as the darkness formed a tentacle, before lunging at Zelda. The green link stepped in front of her and deflected it with his shield while the purple threw a boomerang at it. The red followed up with a bomb, and the blue an arrow. The Tentacle recoiled with a shriek.

So this was the power of the Four Sword.

I was so engrossed in the conflict that I didn't notice another similar tentacle snake around behind me. But as it went to grab me, someone pushed me out of the way.

"MIPHA!"

She screamed in pain and terror as the tentacle changed into a claw and grabbed her. As she did, the shadows formed into a sphere with horns, two long arms, and a big red eye at its center. All four Links got into a battle stance as I quickly readied as ancient arrow and aimed at its eye.

"Woh, hoh, hoh, hoh. What have we here?" it said. "I was hoping to grab that source of power I felt, but it appears I got a new bride instead."

My voice dripped with hatred as I spoke, "I don't know who you are, but you will let her go if you know what's good for you."

"And who do you think you are to challenge me? The new Hero of Hyrule? No, you're just a giant bird with the brain of one too."

The ancient arrow flew straight and true from my bow right into his eye, exploding as it did. The demon howled in pain as it reared back in pain, covering its eye with its claw as the other continued to hold Mipha tight.

Um, anytime you want to jump in Link.

I turned to see that the 4 Links had retreated from the fight, standing back with the rest of the Champions, forming a protective shell around Zelda. None of them had their weapons out as they stood there watching me with confident smiles. All of them seemed to agree, this was my fight. Let's just hope I won for Mipha's sake.

The Monster finally looked at me, its eye burning in rage.

"You insolent little- Fine? You want her back so badly!? Come and get her!"

Wind whipped around the room, boosting him in the air and causing us all to exclaim as the wind threatened to tear the entire building and us apart.

"Feel the wrath of Vaati! The Wind Mage!"

Wind mage huh? No problem.

With a wave of my wing, I used my own powers to stop the hurricane.

"What!?"

Shifting into a battle stance, I stepped in front of Vaati, challenging him with a glare. In response, he summoned a tornado beneath him, boosting him up into the air, once more. He seemed about ready to try and once more bust through the roof into whatever waited for us outside. No matter. I was better at fighting in the air anyways.

Sensing a shift in the air behind me, I reached out my hand to catch the attempted projectile. Bringing it forward to inspect it, I saw that it was the Sheikah Slate. I looked back to see the Red Link give me a nod of encouragement. Attaching it to my own belt, I boosted myself into the air with my signature gale, meeting the so-called "wind mage" eye to eye with a smirk before I launched myself at him.

He launched four spheres at me which I deflected with my sword and currents of wind before sinking the blade into his eye, causing him to once more cry out in pain. I reeled back, back flipping in the air before using the Sheikah Slate to spawn four bombs, launching them at and through his next energy attack, right back into his vulnerable eye. He cried out and fell to the floor. Growling in anger, he tried to grab me with his other claw, only to grab one the tip of my recently shot bomb arrows. He reeled back in pain as it exploded.

Pathetic.

I launched more bomb arrows at his eye again, disorienting him as I aimed at my next target. Time seemed to slow as I fell. I launched three regular arrows at the claw holding Mipha. Vaati cried out in pain as his grip was released.

Channeling the wind behind me, I flew as fast as I could to try and catch her. I lost a little bit of altitude as she landed on my back, her scream of terror as she fell ending with an "oof". Vaati shrieked in pain as all four Links started to attack him in the background.

Mipha looked up at me as I set her down away from the confrontation, "Thank you."

I responded with a nod before turning back and taking to the sky with another gale, charging Vaati as he fought with four Links.

"Hey Link, special delivery!"

I threw the Sheikah Slate to the Red Link's waiting wing before he used it to spawn a bomb and throw it right at Vaati. However, the bomb detonated a bit too close for comfort, almost knocking me out of the air before I quickly regained control over my flight.

I glared at the Red Link and shouted, "Hey Hero! I'm on your side!"

He shrugged sheepishly before going back into combat.

I continued to attack Vaati with all I had, while the four Links mostly held back, offering support when I needed it. With his help, I finally brought that creep down to earth before I pulled out my ultimate weapon against evil and drew back its glowing gold string.

"How? How is this possible?! Who… Who are you?!" he shouted.

"The names Revali, don't you ever forget it."

With that, I released the light arrow.

As soon as it impacted his eye, he let out a scream of sheer agony. And just like all of the demons and their spawn seemed to do before, he turned into the shadow that had first came out of the pedestal after the sword had been drawn before exploding. All four Links held up The Four Sword as his essence was absorbed into it.

"Hmm. Good Riddance," I said.

I quickly ran to Mipha's side and asked, "You ok?"

She nodded. "Yes, thanks to you. Thank you, Revali."

I felt my feathers fluff up with both pride and a little bit of nervousness when she said that.

I escorted her back to the group as we watched both the dropped Four Sword and four Links become one again. We all gathered around in a familiar circle as Link laid The Master Sword on top of the Four Sword. Mipha and I exchanged smiles before we finally combined our powers with Zelda and the rest of the Champions to make the means to finally bring our journey to an end.

Or so we thought.
